The piece of carpet we ordered was an odd shape, but not a particularly complicated one. It was 12 feet across, ten feet long on the right side and eight and a half feet on the left. I had drawn the shape exactly has I wanted it cut and the salesman copied it onto the invoice that way. When we placed the order, and paid half of the money as a deposit, we were told it would be ready in two to three weeks. We didn?t hear anything for three weeks so called to check. We were told it ?might? be ready the following week. At the end of the next week we got a call that the carpet was ready for pick up. At this point it was only a week overdue so it wasn?t a big deal, but this is where the problems started. I went to the store and with the help of the salesman loaded the carpet and the pad into the back of our SUV. With great difficulty because of the weight, my wife and I managed to get the carpet up to our second story bedroom. The pad looked fine but when we rolled out the carpet we discovered that they had cut it backwards, the left side was ten feet and the right side eight and a half instead of the other way around. My wife suggested I call them to come pick it up but I rolled it up, hauled it back down the stairs, and took it back to the store. The salesman pulled up the work order and confirmed that it had been submitted correctly. He said they must have made a mistake at the warehouse and he would resubmit the order and try to expedite it. I was frustrated but I understand that mistakes happen. I asked if they would deliver the new piece so I wouldn?t have to again haul it up the stairs again, and he said he certainly would. (I noted some time later that they went ahead and billed the balance to our credit card even though we had not yet received the carpet.) A week later the salesman called my wife suggesting that they had enough of the carpet that they could cut the piece and sew it back together in the right shape. He said we really would not be able to tell the difference but they would of course give us a $150 discount. We declined, so he said he would place the order. This was over a week after he had promised to expedite the re-order and he had not even placed it. Three more weeks passed and we had not heard anything so I again called to check. The salesman called back to my wife and said he wasn?t sure if it was ready but somebody thought they had seen it at the warehouse. Towards the end of the next week someone called to say the carpet had finally arrived at the store. The salesman who had sold us the carpet and who had promised to deliver it had apparently left the store and my wife was told there was no one available to bring it to our house despite the earlier promise. I went to store to pick up the carpet. I insisted that we roll it out to make sure it was cut correctly this time. Thankfully it was. They helped me load it and made several comments about how unfortunate it was that the warehouse had cut it wrong the first time but never offered an apology for all of my inconvenience. I placed the original order on Jan. 5 and finally received the carpet on Mar. 8, nine weeks later. Throughout this episode no one at the store seemed particularly concerned with the problem or even interested. The sum total of their effort seemed to be taking the order and helping me load the carpet into my car. I would certainly not recommend this store to anyone.
Description of Work: Purchased a piece of high quality carpet with bound edge, 12 feet wide with different lengths on the sides, for use as an area rug.

When I ordered carpet, I picked the color only. Park did not say there was a choice of padding. On the day of installation, my real estate agent called to say the padding they were putting in was bottom of the line. During several subsequent conversations with the manager, Park insisted it was top of the line padding. I still don't know who was right, and didn't challenge this part because... They sold me one color but installed a different one. Fortunately, I still had the sample. They argued and argued, insisting the difference in color was a dye lot variation. This went on until we called Karastan, which confirmed the color Park installed was different than what I had ordered. Park then offered me a discount to keep the other color. I needed what I had ordered, so Park had to replace it at their expense. While they ultimately did the right thing, it took a lot of arguing to get there -- and I had the sample. I don't think I would have prevailed without the sample.
Description of Work: Park Carpet took out the old carpet and padding and installed new carpet and padding.
