Very well.

The entire project took a bit longer than anticipated due to some trouble finding the right fence material, but everything was so well done that we didn't mind. The two guys who did the work were really great -- they were brothers and they seemed to work really well together. I really appreciated how quiet they were—they didn't talk loud, they didn't have loud music playing, and if you didn't hear the actual tools running, you wouldn't even know they were there. They both spoke English and were always polite and willing to talk through and issues or questions I might have. And if they did anything that wasn't what we intended in the plan, they were always willing to redo it until we were satisfied. Jeff, the owner, came by frequently to check on the job, and he was always responsive to any questions or issues that came up. One interesting issue that came up — the guys accidentally cut through the power line to the garage while digging the new fence posts, so they called their electrician and he was there within the hour to fix it. Not only did he fix the wiring, but he added a new outdoor outlet where he needed a junction box, and he replaced two older outlets (one in the garage and one up on the deck) with new ones, all for no additional charge to us. We really appreciated that. Overall, I would happily recommend this company. We had a great experience and love our new deck!

We received estimates from five different deck companies. The price quoted by NorthCraft Builders, Inc. (not the highest or lowest received) was within the range we wanted/expected to pay and they were the company who best seemed to hear what it was we wanted done and not quote to what they thought should be done. Due to scheduling conflicts (they were busy as it was the beginning of summer) and a problem with obtaining the permit from the City of Falls Church (nothing the builder did or failed to do) it was approximatelyh 6 weeks from the time we signed the contract to the actual start date of the build. Once they did start building, the deck was completed in just over three days. A miscommunication between the actual builders and us led to some posts needing to be replaced prior to the work being completed, and that was done quickly without additional cost being incurred by us. Once the job was completed, we did a thorough visual inspection of the deck and found some minor things we wanted corrected/fixed. A conversation with the owner (Jeff) led to a quick resolution of the minor flaws by Jeff himself. Doing business with this company was a pleasant experience. Jeff promptly returns calls and emails, and ensures the work is done to your satisfaction. I would use this company again.

We received three bids from Angie's List companies and went with Northcraft because they instilled a terrific sense of confidence in my husband and me. After talking to them further about materials and finishes, we chose them, even though they were not the lowest bid. Jeff's crew showed up on the start date and every day after that until the project was finished (on time and for the exact amount on the contract). The main builder explained what he was going to do each day and then did just that. The electrician and painter also did excellent work. I have done a lot of remodeling and building projects in the area and this one was, by far, the best experience I've had. Everyone associated with this company is professional and easy to get along with and now I'm walking around my house looking for more projects I can hire them to do.

They did great. They were punctual.

All the work looks great. Also, the cost was reasonable, and much less than big contractor who bid on the job. Drawbacks were that the job took twice as long as agreed in our contract (will allowed extra time) and delay was not due solely to weather, but disorganization in planning, ordering materials. Also, had to constantly stay on the crew for cleaning up after itself. Am still finding bits of trash around they didn't pick up

Jeff came out to give me (I thought) an estimate to repair/partially rebuild my deck. Instead, he insisted that the entire deck needed to be torn down--despite the fact that 3 other deck builders gave me estimates to do the requested work (and never even hinted that the deck would have to be rebuilt). It was pretty clear that this job was too small for Northcraft Builders, and they simply weren't interested. That's fine-- I would have appreciated an honest response to that effect, rather than the lie about my deck needing to be rebuilt. That showed an utter lack of integrity.

We didn?t use their services to get the work done. The estimate was about $29000. It was a long time ago, but they came out to talk to me. They were really good, but the price given by another guy was a little bit more competitive. They were pretty responsive throughout the bidding process. Their quote was pretty comprehensive too.

Great experience. Great crew. Very professional and easy to work with. They were also slightly less expensive than other companies.

Overall a positive experience. We wanted a somewhat larger deck, which required redesigning the stairs and landing to match the slope of the hill behind our house. Northcraft worked with us to develop several options. The final product looks great. Materials used were of high quality. Work was completed reasonably timely. The carpenters were very professional and easy to work with. Clean-up was very good. Unlike many experiences we have had with contractors in Northern Virginia, this job was completed correctly the first time. The price quoted is what we paid.

The price was really good, but the workmanship and quality was just so, so.

The porch turned out better than I imagined.

Jeff arrived for our initial consultation on time. He gave suggestions and listed to what we wanted, as we wanted to maintain to look of the entry columns. His emplyees arrived on time and left everything clean, the new columns look as though they were original to the house. We were very pleased with the work.

The company started and completed the project on time. We added a few upgrades during the project that were incorporated quickly. The first set of steps were installed incorrectly. When this was shown to the owner he quickly had his crew correct the situation. The overall outcome was a very attractive and functional porch that we used every day during this past season. One of the skylights leaked over the summer and we contacted the owner who worked the problem until we were completely satisfied.

The excellent work began right from the initial phone call. For me, this was an emergency job because some extensive water-rot of my townhouse's rear band board was discovered while having my siding replaced. NorthCraft Builders came out within 24 hours and provided estimates on the 3 separate options I was considering. I selected NorthCraft Builders, not because it was the low bid (although it was), but because of NorthCraft's excellent Angie's List reviews, its excellent BBB rating, and the promptness and professionalism of NorthCraft's estimator. Turned out to be one of my better decisions. A hard working crew, led by a true craftsman/artisan arrived when agreed upon and worked diligently and professionally until the job was completed. Particularly impressive was the care the crew took to protect my new siding. The old deck was disassembled and hauled away in one day. The house repairs were made expertly and the new deck constructed perfectly. NorthCraft arranged for the permit, Miss Utility markings and Fairfax County inspections. Even the clean up was thorough. My new deck is magnificent! The quality of workmanship and attention to detail shown by the NorthCraft crew was extremely impressive. For example, a router was used to give the deck's top rail (and some other surfaces) a smooth, rounded edge. The final result, indeed the entire process, far, far exceeded my high expectations for this project. Top shelf all the way. For my future home repairs and improvements, I doubt I will even bother getting multiple estimates: I will just call NorthCraft.

First Class Professionals all the way ! They were polite, professional, on time, neat, clean, cheerful, accommodating, and honest. We had many estimates and felt they would use much better materials than the others for a reasonable price. They used C Select pressure treated pine for the deck floor and number 1 pine for the railing spindles. Other contractors offered only #1 and #2 pine. Northcraft also gave us 4 starbursts included with cement footings, automatic lights on the stairs, and beveled edges. The carpentry was superb. We never expected to see so much included in the detail. They framed the lattice board privacy screens like picture frames. I can't get over how beautiful the deck is or how nice they were about everything. We let them do the designs and are so glad we did not tell them what to do. They knew their business, giving all they had. My best advice is let them do their job. They will and will give it 100%.

The sales rep showed up at the appointed time. He seemed to be somewhat puzzled by the technique required to build the necessary under-structure to support the existing deck that was being replaced (as well as extended on both sides). He took pictures of the under side of the deck and said he would get his bosses input. He promised a proposal in three business day (five calendar days). On the third business day, I received an email that stated the proposal would be delayed by two days because his boss was checking out a few code issues. I never heard from Northcraft again so I sent them an email stating I was going to sign a contract with a competitor who was much more responsive and seemed more knowledgable.

I called 7 contractors and had them submit plans and prices. Northcraft and Jack Prins were by far the most responsive. His ideas were better than mine. He sent Franklin and his crew to do the work, the president of the company and the construction supervisor came by to oversee the work. Franklin is a superb carpenter and his ideas and execution greatly increased the looks and value of the final product. The work was begun and finished on time and exceeded our very high expectations. The workers were actually fun and responsive. Be careful when you do this work. Three of the other builders did not even know that codes had changed. One suggested that we build without regard to codes. One arrived on a motorcycle smelling of last night's beer. Jack Prins was able to work with Loudoun County to get permits and approvals that I might not have been able to complete on my own. Since I had to have the second deck ready for the Amish Country Gazebo of Mannheim PA, time was crucial. Everything was ready. My new 12 by 16 rectangular gazebo has screens and windows and is guaranteed for life. We have enjoyed the entire project all through the winter and spring. I recommend them most highly.

We were very happy with the entire project. The project was completed very timely and the work crew kept the job site clean and tidy. We made a few minor changes during the project, but, to their credit, the NorthCraft Builders team was very accomodating. We are enjoying our deck for our third summer. Thank you!!

The deck design and estimate was solid. The new deck required new support posts and excavation. The excavated clay was tossed under the new deck into a landscaped area and was never removed. The ground and existing landscaping that was disrupted was not cleaned up. The new deck is beautiful and the craftmanship is solid. There is one place where one board was cut short leaving a gap between the edge trim and the deck floor. This is the only imperfection. On the front porch, we asked for stair rails and we got deck rails. I tried to tell the workman that the rails were wrong, but he said that it was someone elses decision. When I called to state that I did not get what I asked for I was told that what I asked for was impossible to install so I got what they could install. I said it should have been my decision to make that decision on whether to install what I did not ask for or cancel the order. The foreman agree and to compensate added some additional trim work to the porch beams. The more I have thought about it the more unhappy I have been and wish I had insisted on a contract adjustment. That said, the front porch changes are striking (with the exception of the stair rail) and I am happy with the craftmanship.

Even with the changes(my fault), my porch was finished on time. I would highly recommend Northcraft builders to anyone who wants to have an outdoor oasis free of mosquitoes and bugs.

It went great! They came out and we already had a plan and he changed our plan for the better. They did a beautiful job and we were very pleased with their work. They made suggestions and additions to our original plans which were a tremendous improvement. They use high quality materials. They started and finished with no delays. After it was all finished they came back quickly to correct minor details. Always cleaned up. We love the finished product!
