Merrifield Paint and Design

We had an excellent experience with Merrifield. Jeff Sellers, the owner, contacted me within several hours of my request for a quote and was able to come over the following day to discuss the work we wanted done. Jeff didn't race through his assessment of our house. Rather, he took his time checking out each room in order to fully understand what we wanted to accomplish. This immediately gave us a lot of confidence in using his company. The quote we received was very reasonable. Upon receiving it, we decided to move forward with Merrifield. We picked a date, which Jeff was easily able to accommodate. The day of the job, the painters were right on time. They quickly brought their supplies in, asked a few quick questions to confirm the work we wanted done and got straight to work. The two painters were extremely thorough and efficient. They were in by 8:30am and out by 2pm at the latest. They left both bedrooms extremely clean with the furniture back in place. We were very pleased with the work we had done wand will certainly be using Merrfield again.

The quality of the work was excellent! I was very pleased with how careful they were with my furniture, drop clothes, clean-up, and putting everything back afterwards. They arrived pretty much on time and were done in the time estimated. The paint job was very professional and looks great. There were a few little glitches, but nothing that would stop me from using them again. First, I had to follow up a few times to establish the date. I also had the trim and ceiling repainted, too, and we had a misunderstanding about the estimate for that work. But I felt the person I dealt with was very fair in resolving it. Overall definitely a very good experience that I would not hesitate to repeat with Merrifield Paint and Design.

Jeff and his crew were just terrific to work with. They were on time, professional, polite, honest and did a great job painting. There were a couple of small areas where I thought the painting needed additional coverage after they were finished and they were happy to oblige. They also took care to clean up their mess at the end of each day and when they departed took away all the debris. Jeff was also really helpful and very patient giving me advice on some of the colors, as i was undecided about a couple of the rooms. The only minor critique i have is that there were a couple areas in the walls and trim that had indentations that I had assumed would be fixed as part of the painting process, but they weren't. (There were some language in the contract apparently addressing that, but I didn't pick up on it until too late.) If you are super-picky about that sort of thing, I would suggest negotiating with Jeff ahead of time, as though it would have driven up the cost, I would've probably been willing to pay more for the extra work. That said, I would highly recommend Merrifield Paint and Design and will definitely use them again next time I need the house painted.

We contacted Mr. Sellers, and he gave us advice on how to cover the stain ourselves. His advice worked perfectly, and he saved us hundreds of dollars. His willingness to give us free advice, and his subsequent follow up to make sure that we were successful, proves that he actually cares about his customers, whether current or potential. We will be looking to Mr. Sellers again the next time we need interior painting.

The work was done quickly and professionally, the painters were in and out within 3 hours. They did a great job. I usually handle the interior painting myself but I did not have the time or energy for this one. It is done and now I don't have to worry about wasting a weekend!

I had a couple of conversations with Jeff, the owner, early on. To prepare, I made plaster repairs and moved the furniture away from the walls and let him know that I was ready. He contacted me shortly thereafter with a date and time. The painters arrived on time and got started right away. They prepared the area (drop cloths; a little sanding here and there as needed) and completed the job within a few hours. I'm very happy with it and have even asked for an estimate to do additional work.

I was very happy with the experience. Jeff called before hand and offered dates for the service. He also told me all the things that would be helpful to do before the painting (though he also offered to have the guys move the big furniture and to do sanding of the walls if needed...I had patched some wall cracks, and he had the painters sand down to an appropriate surface for painting, no extra charge). The morning of the job, Jeff came by a little before the painters and explained to them everything that needed to be done. He was very professional and wanted to make sure I was happy. The painters were great. Absolutely no splatter anywhere. They were very neat and cleaned up when they left, and they were both very polite as well. Very happy with the service, and I'd recommend to others.

Good at painting. Ripped window screen and made no mention of it. Denied doing it. Not a good approach with something so obvious, i.e., a trail of paint to the tear.

Estimator was friendly and on-time. Estimate was middle of the road/a little on the high side price wise, but ultimately was more than we wanted to spend based on further estimates.

After three bad experiences with local painters, we finally had a good one with Merrifield Paint & Design. The first thing we noticed was the immediate and personal response from the owner, Jeff. He made time within the first day to check out the property and give us an estimate. He knew that the property was going to be re-rented, so he made some suggestions that would save a few bucks here and there. His prices were a bit higher than the other estimates we got, but he was able to commit to our timing. (We were trying to get things turned around on short notice at a particularly busy time for early summer painting.) In the end, however, the price was well worth it. His painters were on time, professional and neat. We had done work refinishing bathrooms and hardwood floors and they were careful not to track any paint or dirt throughout. For a few bucks extra, we ended up very happy with the work. We would definitely hire these guys again.

Jeff (the owner) met me at the house to provide an estimate. He was very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. He seemed interested in helping us get the best outcome, and he didn't try to overcharge us or create more work than needed to be done. For example, he saved us money by matching existing paint in several rooms. The living room had one wall that needed to be repainted, and he was able to match the paint color to the other walls and just paint the one wall, rather than the entire room. I gave him a deadline by when the work needed to be done, and he finished days ahead of the deadline. I have worked with other painters in the past who were always behind schedule and left a mess. Jeff's team was was very careful, quiet, efficient and tidy. We are thrilled with the result.

I sent an email to MP&D just after buying the deal but didn't immediately hear back, so I called a few days later to set up my appointment. They promptly called me back and were able to get my job in the following Friday- Which was the day I requested. Jeff, the owner, arrived at the scheduled time (I was 5 minutes late!) and the painters came about 45 minutes later. We walked through the room and job. Jeff then waited for the painters and relayed the plan. It took the painters about 3.5 or 4 hours to complete the job. They moved the furniture to paint, moved it back, and left no mess. The repair they did to one portion of the wall made the screw holes undetectable and the painting was well done. I was very please with the results. I would definitely use them again.

I bought this as a special deal on Angie's list. I contacted Jeff by email and he made sure that I had purchased sufficient amount of paint and also made sure that I fully understood the conditions of the coupon. Jeff and the team arrived at the agreed-upon time and Jeff took the time to inspect the living room. He also inspected the ceiling paint which was left by the previous owners. The job was done in 4 hours and I have never seen such a clean paint job. All the nail holes in the wall were patched, the wall were perfectly painted and the ceiling was touched-up although they were not required to do so. I can highly recommend this company.

It was great. The finished product looks great and I continue to get compliments on the work.

Merrifield Paint & Design was wonderful! They used the paint I insisted upon without questioning it, suffered through my wishy-washiness on shutter color, and even came back later to finish the wooden storm door painting after I'd had my handyman install it. Their workers were on time and tidy and did a beautiful job. This really transformed my otherwise dull 1964 split level into a standout (in a good way). I'd recommend this company to anyone for their high quality work and outstanding customer service. Their pricing was very reasonable as well.

(1) Estimate -- Jeff's estimate was fair and delivered promptly in PDF format via e-mail, which I appreciated. (2) Materials -- Since I am pregnant, Jeff did a little digging to find the best quality low/zero VOC paint available that worked with my husband and I's budget -- we definitely appreciated this extra effort. Just one day after painting, there was virtually no paint odor at all -- it was pretty amazing. (3) Service -- Any time an issue arose in the paint job, Jeff called me right away to confirm next steps -- I really appreciated his attention to detail and clear desire to meet expectations. (4) Quality of Work -- Excellent. Even in parts of our home where the moldings are not quite even, the paint job is perfect. (5) Follow Up -- Jeff offered to perform small follow-up touch-ups, as well, just in case I found that the crew "missed a spot". Overall, my husband and I were very pleased with the high level of service and quality of the work and would definitely call upon Jeff and his team again in the future.

Given the large square footage of the new house, we estimated that it would take about a week to complete. However, Jeff sent two crews and had it done in three days. The teams that came to the house were neat, thorough and very careful. The work is great and we always get compliments when we have visitors. We have been working with Jeff for nearly 10 years and this was the second time that we asked him to paint a whole house. We had great results in our previous house as well.

I was impressed with the work of Jeff and the Merrifield crew and have used Merrifield Paint and Design for several subsequent smaller projects. Jeff's prices are reasonable and his crew is professional and efficient. Jeff is happy to collaborate with you on colors and finishes or just follow your instructions to the letter. You will be pleased working with Jeff and even more pleased once MPD has finished the job.

Jeff responded quickly to my request for a quote and gave us a fair price for the work. I hadn't planned ahead very far, and contacted Jeff just a few weeks before the holidays (of course wanting the painting done before relatives arrived for Christmas) - they were able to take on the project with fairly short notice, and completed it within the time frame that Jeff had estimated. The painters were prompt, courteous and cleaned up after themselves every day. This was made more difficult because they had to work around the contractors for the kitchen and pantry remodel. When I asked for a small addition to the work (the inside of the pantry), this was done with no upcharge. After I made the final payment, I found a small touch-up need, and his guys were out there the next day to complete the work. I was especially grateful for this, as it can be really hard to get someone to come back out to your house after they have been paid. The painting itself was very well done - excellent work on the trim, straight lines where the molding and walls meet, everything was primed before painting and received two coats of paint. We were very happy with our experience,

Jeff Sellers(the owner) took the time to come out in person to meet me and give me an estimate for the job. He was great, explained the process thoroughly and walked me through room by room to discuss things about the job that I never thought about, I was between colors for my basement and he was able to give some good advice about colors and the amount of light I had in the room. His pricing was fair and very professional. He let me know how long things would take and what steps were involved. The guys started prepping the walls the next day and really went the extra mile, they put plastic over my furniture and put tarps down and vacuumed and swept and my house was cleaner than before they arrived. My house really does look better than I thought was possible. Two thumbs up, from this happy customer!!

Overall experience was fantastic. Jeff is easy to work with was patient with us as we changed soem things and took some time in deciding colors etc. Once work started it was done quickly and professionally. The team that worked on our house was very pleasant to have around. They did a meticulous job, were clean, organized and despite it being a potentially very invasive job, we hardly noticed they were there. They were quiet and worked really hard throughout the days they were here. We felt very comfortable leaving them in our home when we had to be away during the project too. Completed the entire painting of our 5000+ sq foot home in only 5 days! Edges and overall paint job is superb. Got several estimates and this was middle of the road but so happy we hired Jeff and his team! Definitely will use again whenver we need soemone for any painting project!

The owner came to look at the work to be done and provided an estimate via e-mail. Merrifiend P&D had a competitive price and we were impressed with the owner's professionalism. The work took a two man crew two days to complete; the crew showed up on time and were both professional and friendly. We used a number of different paint colors and finishes and the owner made sure that he and the crew understood thoroughly what we wanted to do before they started. The owner stopped in multiple times to check up on the work. We had done all other painting on our own and the owner was helpful and willing to answer our multiple questions.

Very responsive. Jeff was nice to work with and reasonable. His painter did an excellent job and was friendly and fast. Would definitely use them again without question.
