Jeff is the best, most responsive contractor we have hired, and his painters are highly professional, talented and friendly. Everything about our experience was smooth and pleasant, and we were extremely satisfied with the final product. We had a large job that we split into two phases -- the upstairs (2 floors) as one phase and the basement as a second phase. We have a 1948 home that hadn't been painted in some time, including two wood-panelled bedrooms that needed a lot of work. Jeff's team transformed the wood-paneled rooms by expertly caulking and painting them, making them look like new, and did a lot of highly detailed work (built-in cabinets, fireplace, picture window, window grids). The paint looks gorgeous. They particularly did a fantastic job on the built-ins and all of the detailed work. We were thrilled with all of our communications with Jeff -- he responded quickly via e-mail and phone at every step of the process. He is very personable and easy to work with. We e-mailed him our paint choices and they picked up the paint for us. His painters were very conscientious and called him whenever there was a question about anything (e.g., whether to keep curtain rods up or not), and Jeff relayed those questions to us to make sure everything was done exactly the way we wanted it. Jeff stuck to the budget. There were only 1-2 things in the whole house that ended up entailing more work than expected, and Jeff called us to let us know before we decided whether to proceed with the extra work. He also was willing to give us his opinion on color/style when we asked for it. I felt completely comfortable with the painters in our home when we were gone. Marco was very friendly and we could communicate well (in English) -- it was easy for me to talk to him and give him quick instructions. The price is highly competitive, especially for a work product that is outstanding. Additionally, we had our windows redone after painting and needed a little touching up around the sills, and Jeff was willing to come back to do a couple touch-ups at no extra charge. We would hire these guys again in a heartbeat.

Scheduling went well. The work was done within the day. They did a good job.

It was an excellent experience. The crew was punctual, professional, and accomplished. We received daily emails updating us on the progress of the job. We heartily recommend this company! They are terrific!

I was very impressed with the service and work performed by Jeff Sellers, owner, and the crew at Merrifield Paint and Design. After scheduling an appointment, Jeff arrived on time to provide a free estimate. He assessed the work I needed done and shortly thereafter, he provided a written/typed estimate via email. He was low pressure, professional, and courteous. After comparing a couple of proposals/estimate, I decided to go with Merrifield. I was not disappointed. His crew was able to schedule a start date within a reasonable amount of time. He emailed me a day or two before to inquire whether the crew could start work. After giving them the go-ahead, they arrived on time and promptly got to work. The crew was professional and courteous. I was running late and had trouble getting out of the house one morning during the project and they were patient and professional, while waiting for a few minutes for me to leave for work. They finished painting the exterior trim and power washed on one day; and painted a large interior room/ceilings and hallway the next. I was impressed with the workmanship and both the inside and outside look great. I couldn't have asked for a better experience.

They were very pleasant and professional to work with but, unfotunately due to the workload brought on by the deal I bought, I had to wait several months for the work to be done. When it was done, I was sandwiched into time available betrween other jobs. The overall job was OK, not great. I feel like if I was paying full price, I probably would have gotten a better job, not a rush job.

The painters were very courteous and did an exceptional job that required a good deal of scraping and sanding. They also worked in closets that were narrow and tall. The whole team was very responsive to our concerns and incredibly professional. We would definitely use them again.

We had a wonderful experience with MP&D from start to finish. Jeff Sellers accommodated our schedule in coming out to provide an estimate. He got back to me with an estimate within 2 days that was exactly within our budget - and was right in the middle of the estimates we had received from other painters. Jeff took the time to explain to me in detail how they would accomplish needed repairs and what type of paint we may want to use, and answered all my questions. Best of all, we had a short timeframe in which we wanted to complete the work, and again Jeff and his crew kindly accommodated our schedule and completed the work on time. We have been disappointed with painters in the past, and I was so relieved and happy to see what a wonderful job they did. I'm pretty picky, but I had absolutely no complaints. We will definitely hire them for any future painting jobs.

Jeff and his team were wonderful to work with. He contacted me shortly after I submitted a request through Angie's List. He came out to the house a few days later and gave us an estimate. My husband and I decided we wanted to add the family room on the lower floor after we had received the estimate and Jeff was able to add it in without needing to come back to the house. We settled on a date to start and 4 days later everything was done perfectly. We will definitely use them for our future painting needs given the excellent price and quality we received.

Outstanding painters! It took a while to get on their schedule, but it was well worth the wait. Painters are so talented, and just really nice guys. Their work is meticulous. The drywall repair exceeded my expectations. They were very respectful of my home and covered everything, and cleaned up really well. I can't say enough about Merrifield Paint and Design. They are the best paint company I've used in this area. Their work is fantastic, and I thought the price was reasonable given the high quality of the work.

Once we were able to establish a date, the workers arrived and were very professional and accommodating. They completed the work, cleaned up and put things back in t heir original place. I was pleased with the work and would use them again.

It went well. We chose the color and supplied the paint. Merrifield Paint and Design promptly returned my call to set the appointment, came on time to confirm the price and detail the work,then a painter returned on the appointed day. He completed all the steps of preparation and painting, the departed after he made sure I was satisfied. Prior to the painter's arrival, I had already removed the furniture from the room and removed wall decorations but he spackled nail holes, etc. to ensure a nice finish. I was delighted with how quickly the project proceeded. We let the paint "cure" for 2 days before returning the furniture and re-decorating the walls. The fresh paint in a new color really transformed the look of the room. $325 plus two days -- and a whole new look. Well worth it in general, but the $75 extra for the closet seemed a little high. Merrifield Paint and Design completed the work professionally and punctually.

Excellent job that far exceeded our expectations. Their crew was always on time and finished the work ahead of schedule. They were meticulous in covering the floors and furniture and cleaned up thoroughly every day, never leaving drop cloths or other material overnight. We were surprised at how well they matched the existing colors; you can't tell that the rooms have been repainted. We plan to hire MD&P for any and all future interior work.

I used the wrong type of caulk in the preparation of the room which complicated the painting. Nonetheless the firm overcame adversity and did a great job.

We had a great experience with Merrifield Paint & Design, Jeff was very friendly and easy to deal with. He was available to explain the process, ask questions and give his recommendations. Scheduling was convenient and the painter arrived on time - which is a rarity in the District! The job was completed very quickly and with no mess. The room looks beautiful and we are very satisfied.

Positive experience with this painter. The owner called to schedule a time and the follwoning day I got a room painted. The painter was on time 8 'o clock sharp started working immediately and by 12:00 noon the work was done. The owner came by to make sure all was well around 10:30. Very frindly guy and nice attitude. I will probably call again. I was disappointed tho that he did not come out to check the real painting I needed: LR- Stairs , Hall as I was hoping to be able to use the "special deal" for a larger job. He told me that he was not worth his time to come and give me an estimate and the $249.00 did not givehim room for spending extra time on estimates, proposal writing etc. I understand his position. His job was well done and he delivered a nice painting job, but I won't buy anymore "deals" as this deal did not work for me.

The owner was very helpful. He stopped by and we worked together to solve a color matching issue. Very satisfied.

The entire process from quote to completion with Jeff and the team from Merrifield was an excellent experience. He asked the questions that needed to be asked to give a decent idea of what I was looking for and the price range that could be possible, and that was narrowed down and explained very well when he came to look at the apartment. He gave great recommendation about no VOC paint, which was really important to us because my wife is pregnant. The job was completed on time (3 days), the quality of the work is excellent, and the price was very competitive from what I found from other painters in the area. We decided to add on a little work the following week (cabinets -- see above), and they were accommodating. We would highly recommend Merrifield to anyone looking for painters.

Jeff Sellers, the owner, responded to my call quickly and was able to provide an estimate on Christmas Eve. We discussed the various options (types or paint, ceilings/no ceilings, trim/no trim, etc) and he provided recommendations based on his experience. His quote was not the cheapest but also not the most expensive and we felt it was reasonable and his company was credible based on the reviews on Angie's list. The paint job turned out very well and we were pleased with the work. His crew did a good job of clean up and I appreciated that they were flexible about using our buildings ladders instead of their own since their truck wouldn't fit into the building garage. We would definitely use them again.

They arrived about 12:15. Jeff called to let me know he was running a bit late. I did appreciate that. When Jeff and his to man crew arrived, Jeff went over options to spend the man-hours we paid for. We agreed with him to do the vertical walls in our family room. They worked well and quickly. They removed the nails and screws in the wall and patched holes and minor dents in the wall. Their paint job was professional looking. When I examined it, I notice one area that needed slight touch-up which they fixed. They waited until we (my wife and me) were completely satisfied with the job. I was especially please with the drywall door I made to access under stair storage. The made it smooth.

Overall, the experience was good, but we chose to go in a different direction even though we received a competitive quote.

Since I had already primed the walls, and needed the ceiling painted as well, he worked with me to paint one coat on the ceiling and the walls. Really great communication, and great paint job!
