Mr Mendez' painter did an outstanding job painting the interior of our house as we get it ready for sale. When I noticed a spot that had been missed, he fixed it right on the spot. Will definitely be looking for more opportunities to work with Mendez Painting in our new house.

Mr Mendez' team of painters was punctual and thorough. They do a great job at a very fair price. Will definitely look to hire again!

The guys arrived early which was great. I did not ask for a list of what supplies to buy beforehand -- I bought the paint and live 10 minutes from Home Depot, so knew I could pick up anything quickly. That was a mistake. The guys didn't speak English well and couldn't give me a list of things of things to buy. They sent me to Home Depot 5 times in 2 days. That was my fault -- be sure and ask for a written list ahead of time. The owner speaks English best in writing and in person. I did have some trouble understanding over the phone. The wall paper came off easy thanks to a special treatment put on before the wall paper was applied by previous homeowner. So that saved us lots of time. The language became a problem as I asked the guys what time they thought they'd be finished. They thought I was rushing them and would underestimate, when really I was just trying to figure out what to do about dinner for my family at the other house (cook or drive through options) They kept feeling more rushed as I asked for updates, and my family was hungry. It would have been better if I'd gone home to feed the family and came back afterwards but the guys though they'd be done in another 30 minutes (several times). This really is just another language problem. We would have understood each others intentions I spoke Spanish The only reason, I would not hire again, was that the guys didn't bring enough drop cloths -- they brought 2 sheets. I asked if I could get them more, but they thought they were ok. They moved the cloths from room to room, but they tracked paint on my carpets as they walked back and forth on unprotected areas and paint was on the soles of their shoes. I made them stay an extra half hour to try to clean the carpets. To be fair, the owner did come to inspect their work and do touch up the next day. He also tried to clean the carpets and wanted to make sure I was pleased. I was planning on having them steam cleaned before we moved in, and it turned out fine when was all was said and done.

I would highly recommend Diomedes Mendez Painting! The workers that Mr. Mendez hires are extremely conscientious and reliable. They are always on time, friendly, work hard, and pay attention to detail. They will gladly go over anything if you are not happy. They take pride in their work and want to please the customer. This is what really stands out! All in all, we were very pleased and satisfied! I would not hesitate to recommend this company to my friends!

They did superb work! I could not be happier with the quality of the work or the price. They were punctual, honest, clean, hard working. I will use them again for my next painting job.

A technical problem occurred in the initial transmission and/or receipt of info involving Angie's List and the provider with the result that the provider was totally unaware of the schedule. He did offer to include me in the schedule but my confidence level, as this was my first experience using Angie's List, was shaken.

I was very happy with the painting provided by Diomedes Mendez Painting - they did an excellent job at a very reasonable price. I would hire them again without hesitation for any future work. Mr. Mendez is very prompt in returning emails and answering his cellphone - so nice to have a provider that is so responsive. Mr. Mendez was able to schedule two painters the next day - which was great because we needed the painting done ASAP. He explained that there would be an extra charge for supplies using the Big Deal pricing (i.e. wallpaper remover liquid) and he would provide a receipt for any supplies purchased in our behalf. Of course, we did provide our own paint. Two painters showed up promptly at 8 am, as scheduled, and worked diligently until 4 pm with only a 30 min break for lunch. However, upon arrival, it was disconcerning that the painters asked if we had any paint rollers - luckily we did have 5 or 6 laying around the garage from prior DIY jobs. Since there was a bit of a language barrier, I was not quite sure, but I think that they would have taken our time to go purchase paint rollers if we didn't have any. In the end, they charged us $10 for supplies. Without me asking, I was really impressed that the two painters covered my hardwood stairs and hallway with drop cloths - kudos to Mendez Paining! After moving all the furniture to the middle of rooms and covering it with drop cloths, the painters removed several drywall bolts/screws from the walls and did an excellent job of spackling those holes and any other imperfections in the walls. The painting in both rooms look great and they even had enough time to paint the trim around windows and doors - a nice bonus. The paint job was outstanding, but I gave a 4 instead of 5 rating in quality because there were some small drops of paint here and there on the carpet where the drop cloths did not completely cover. I used a wet cloth to clean them up myself after they left - which removed most of the paint - but there may still be some drops behind the furniture which may not come out once totally dry. I completely understand that this can happen and there were only about 6 small drops of paint, but I would have appreciated if they had taken the time to clean them. In summary, Mendez Painting did an excellent job at a bargain price with the Big Deal. So nice to have the work completed in one day versus probably at least a 1 week DIY project if not more. Hire them, you will be pleased!

This was my first big deal and I am so impressed with Diomedes Mendez Painting Company. Mr. Mendez came out prior to the start date and after examining the area to be painted, let me know how much and what type of paint to purchase. The workers were on time and the job was completed in an exemplary manner. We will definitely do business with Diomedes Mendez Painting in the future. Carole Clarke

The painters were prompt, polite, and helpful---and they respected my wishes to be careful that my cats did not escape while they brought supplies in and out of the house. I've always painted my houses myself, so I know how to do it, and I am very picky. The weather was hot, and they needed the windows open for ventilation, which made it a bit uncomfortable, but they did an excellent job! If I had anything left to paint, I would have them do it.

I purchased an Angie's List Deal (16 hours of painting, wallpaper removal and drywall repair). The work was performed in a single, 8-hour day, by two painters. Overall, the painters did a very good job, particularly in the living room/dining room, which is flawless. Although they were scheduled to arrive at 8 am, Mr. Mendez called just before 8 am to let me know that they would be at my house by 9 am (they arrived around 8:45 am). Other than a 30-minute break for lunch, they worked solidly for the day, and finished up just before 5 pm. They did some small patching and priming, painted both the walls and the trim, and vacuumed up any sanding dust left along the baseboards. It was a very thorough job. Mr. Mendez also stopped by in the afternoon to check their work and progress. I did have some communication issues, both with Mr. Mendez prior to the job, and with the painters themselves (they didn't speak much English, and I need a lot of work on my Spanish!). Unlike my experience with other painters, Mr. Mendez did not conduct a pre-visit to see the extent of the job. All of the pre-work communication was done through e-mail, and it took several rounds of back-and-forth to determine what I needed to purchase in advance. Mr. Mendez instructed me to buy enough paint for the painters to apply 3 coats, so I purchased six gallons of Benjamin Moore paint. That ended up being twice as much paint as I needed given the existing colors on the walls (the painters didn't need to apply more than 2 coats). There was so much extra paint that I gave what was left of the 5-gallon bucket to the two painters (it couldn't be returned, and I have no room for it). So I spent more money than I really needed to. All in all, I'm pleased with the work that was performed, and I would recommend Diomedes Mendez Painting to others.

Mr. Mendez was a delight to work with. He was courteous, punctual and professional during the entire project. He showed up ahead of time for our initial review of the property. He listened carefully to what I asked for and even made good suggestions. Then he sent a proposal within a couple days that was very reasonable.The work got done in the time frame Mr. Mendez said it would get done. The team did a superb job painting the interior & exterior, as well as caulking all cracks and replacing any wood that was needed to get the job done. Mid way through the project I realized I should have asked about our fence being painted. Mr. Mendez added it to the project immediately and even repaired broken wood without me asking. Lastly, Mr. Mendez also refinished our deck. Some wood needed replacing, which he took care of. The sanding & staining looked great. During our final walk through I pointed out a few items I wanted to have done & the Mendez team addressed them without hesitation. I casually mentioned to my husband I wished we had the front door painted and the next day it was done (as no additional cost!). Mr. Mendez and his team cleaned up and left the property in great shape. Overall he exceeded my expectations! Excellent contractor. I highly recommend them.

I was so very pleased with everything. The painting looks beautiful. They painted inside the first day and the interior of the house was transformed by their work. Mr. Mendez and the painting workers were polite, punctual and professional in all of their interactions. The exterior paint work done was beautiful as well and beyond my expectations. I feel very blessed to have found such a good contractor and I plan to use them again.

Diomedes came out to give an estimate. He was polite and efficient. Gave recommendations and set up a date to start on the project. The project was completed on time. The results were exactly what we expected. Would use Diomedes again and would recommend his services.

I purchased the Big Deal for 16 hours of labor for $499. Diomedes was able to fit me into their schedule quickly (within two days of purchasing the deal!). He showed up on-time with an assistant and proceeded to do everything that I requested. They did a very professional job and I couldnt be happier. I definitely recommend Diomedes Mendez for your painting needs.

The provider came in and assessed that the job was a little bigger than the deal that I bought because of some extra surface washing and because of a need to paint primer onto the vinyl siding. Since I purchased the deal I felt a little insecure about paying a little more but Diomedes Mendez Painting took the time to thoughtfully explain the details of the job. The additional cost of the painting was reasonable, total 780, so I went ahead and followed through with the job. They also went out of their way to schedule the job during days that were convenient for my schedule. There was a minor disagreement over the paint and primer combination selection but since I was buying the paint and since I got advice for the paint type from the manufacturer I felt that I was on firm ground when I insisted on the type of paint and primer to use. He was a little skeptical at first but ultimately he went ahead and followed through with my wishes. I appreciated his professionalism in our discussion about the paint and primer. We moved on and he completed the work with great care, quality, and timeliness. The only evidence they left behind that they were ever at my house was a quarter gallon of leftover paint and a freshly painted exterior. Awesome.

After Diomedes and his crew finished painting our place (there is another review on that), I asked if he would help install some tile for a backsplash in our kitchen. He helped me walk the dog on price differences and trends in the area, and then settled on a small project to line the countertop with some subway tiles. A few days later, Diomedes was there on time and ready to go. The project was completed in the morning, without any hassle. Once again, I would highly recommend Diomedes for his great service, no-pressure attitude, and quality of work.

We shopped around for someone to paint our small townhouse in Alexandria. We looked around at the usual sites -- Yelp and Craigslist -- and asked neighbors. The best price quote we could find was an outrageous 3600 and a guy who wouldn't stop texting about why we didn't want to go with his service, how he was busy anyway so didn't need his service. In short, a hassle. My wife found Diomedes through a service, and he was fantastic. He came out to our house, examined the job to be done, and offered us a quote. I didn't feel strong-armed, and given the amount of work to be done -- plaster needed patching, patches needed sanding, and primer needed priming -- the price he offered was more than fair. Diomedes and an assistant showed up on time, and had the work done before scheduled. They had us do a walk-through of the house to see if they had missed anything, and were incredibly professional. We have already invited Diomedes back for another project, confident in the price and quality of his work.

Mr Mendez and his crew arrive at the location early morning he had his crew start the removal of the damage drywall and insulation right away. Then they proceeded to remove the old wood floors I was really happy on how they kept there work area really clean. When they started the work on the room that had been water damage they made sure to cover the carpet to not get it full of dust and not stained when they would paint. The wood floor was install after they had clean the area and it look fabulous it was a job well done. I was very happy with the work ethic and professionalism that Mr Mendez and his crew had shown while they work on the property. I would recommend him to anybody that needs interior work done on there property you wont regret. I would call him again if I need any of this type of work done.

Mr. Mendez work ethic is excellent. He pays attention to detail. He is not concerned about the time the work takes until it is done right. He also repaired one of the porch columns demonstrating his ability as a carpenter. Mr. Mendez is a true professional. Polite, respectful and willing to please.

The work was of superior quality. Mr. Mendez scrapped, sanded and primed the oldest part of the deck leaving the entire space. Like new. The patio was spotless. Could not have been more pleased with his work.

He was one of the most professional and time efficient painters that I have ever had work on my house. I know his category says painting but he can also do drywall, carpentry, etc. He was outstanding! As an owner, last minute decisions come up and you and need your painter or worker to adjust or give examples and he did just that. I would hire him again in the future and wouldn't think about it twice and would also recommend him to anyone looking for exterior/interior painting or anything to get your house fixed because you won't regret it. trust me. I will refer him to all my neighbors and to anybody who is looking to get their house done in a professional way without getting the bad ends.
