John is extremely talented. He worked quickly but did high quality work. Would highly recommend for any crown molding job.

We wanted floor-to-ceiling built-ins (shelves and cabinets) for an entire wall in our family room complete with crown molding for the whole room. The room is pretty big with tall walls so this was a somewhat large job in our opinion. The final product and experience was top-notch. John was very personable and receptive to our ideas and offered great advice during the initial visit. He let us know when he could start the project and his estimate was spot-on. John does the work himself and that was very important to us since he was the one that we were speaking with from the beginning. His attention to detail was great and we have nothing but great things to say. His craftsmanship changed the entire look of our room. We'll certainly be using him again.

We hired John to build a custom breakfast banquette (bench with back) for our kitchen and dining area. John was easy to work with, always on time, was extremely knowledgeable on how best to execute the design and responded extremely quickly to any email I sent. The finished product is more than I could've expected imagined and is exactly what you get when you hire a true professional. HIs work makes me want to think about other projects for the home - closets, office, downstairs bar. Don't think twice about contacting John.

We hired Matson Construction initially to build custom bookcases for two bedrooms. After meeting with John, the owner, and saw how knowledgeable and professional he was, we added a custom office and sliding closet door as additional projects. Needless to say, the job was not easy -- our custom home had custom crown molding and doors that had to be matched and both the bookcases and office had complicated design elements that we wanted to be incorporated. With his knowledge and experience, John gave us suggestions on how to achieve everything we wanted both functionally and aesthetically. All the carpentry work was done by him personally and the workmanship is unsurpassed. He came on time, gave us daily progress reports, and was able to finish on schedule. He was able to make adjustments when unexpected changes had to be made and even made for us a rolling printer cart with the extra materials that were left! He's personable, professional, and very detail-oriented. I would recommend him to anyone without reservation! Thanks, John, we love it all!

We contacted this company based on the pro ratings and reviews shown in 'Home Advisor'. We contacted Matson Construction LLC to arrange for the construction of a large built-in cabinet for a Great Room in our home. Mr. John Matson (owner/PM) took our rough design and built the cabinet to our specifications. The construction did not take long and Mr. Matson was extremely diligent and meticulous with regard to his construction. Mr. Matson used high quality materials to build the cabinet. We are extremely pleased with the quality of work performed by Mr. Matson and the end result. The cabinet is fabulous! I would highly recommend Mr. Matson to anyone needing his services.

The entire experience with Matson Construction (John) was fantastic. John gave us a schedule and then followed it. He came prepared every morning, so there were no work stoppages while he went back and forth for materials. This allowed him to stay on schedule, which was important to us. He delivered an excellent finished product that makes our home look and function much better and he did not make a mess. Most of all, John is a great guy. He saw my son's birthday balloons from his second birthday, and on his next day back brought my son a book. When you have someone in your home for an extended period, its comforting to know he is also a kind-hearted human being. John is a great guy. I recommend him and his work without reservation.

I can not say enough good things about John Matson. He is a genius carpenter, and experienced builder who made our dream library come to fruition. We LOVE it! He is kind, careful, conscientious, professional, talented, and creative. I plan to hire hm for some more work in the future as well. :-) John Matson and company are building our library, and it is amazing! John is so professional and friendly, and he has a natural talent in carpentry. He has a great eye, and also listens and understands what you ask for, and was able to come up with a design that was exactly what my husband and I wanted. His work is top notch, and I would recommend him to everyone.

John is the owner and did all the work constructing built-in bookcases to surround the fireplace in our living room. The workmanship was excellent, and John communicated with us frequently as he was building the bookcases to make sure he was providing what we envisioned. He even waited one evening for us to get home from work before drilling holes for electrical cords to make sure he put them exactly where we wanted. I would recommend Matson Construction without reservation.

John is a master carpenter and master cabinet maker. He is affable, diligent, and prompt and finished the work as promised. He transformed an empty office into a beautiful library. I have already recommended him to a friend who has problems with ill-fitting doors. I definitely will call him again.

I needed a professional who could install my new double wall oven and build a wooden surround for the appliance. After obtaining three quotes, I hired Matson Construction for the job after reviewing his website, client references and discussing the project in detail with him. It was the right choice! John did an exceptional job of framing and painting a custom-cut poplar wood panel/surround for the new oven, matching 20+year old cabinets that I did not want replaced. I am so pleased with the results - the new oven looks great and the carpentry work was excellent! In addition to his expertise in carpentry, John provides outstanding client service. He responded promptly and patiently to my many emails and questions, and efficiently coordinated the delivery of the new oven, taking out the old appliance, and installation. He made a special effort to juggle his schedule to get the new oven in before my out-of-town guests arrived for the holidays. I will certainly contact Matson Construction when I have future carpentry and/or home improvement projects. I give him the highest 5-star rating for quality of work, professionalism and value for price quoted. It was a pleasure to work with him.

John was great. He designed custom shelving and cabinets for our new living room, working around existing design elements like our crown moulding and fireplace mantle. We couldn't be more pleased with the final product, which was also affordable. He was easy to communicate with, got the job done quickly, and rolled with the punches when we requested some adjustments. He was genuinely a good person to work with. Hire him.

John did a fantastic job...was on time and even was able to give me some advice on other work that needed doing in the house.

John was prompt and true to his word. He not only guided me in some pre-work that needed done with an electrician, but he also waited while my wood showed up on his first day, which was nearly a day of wasted time for him. He still completed the work on time, and it is beautiful (wood planked ceilings and crown molding for about 800 sq feet). I'll definitely use him again.

John is an excellent finish trim carpenter. I have been around a lot of construction projects over the years, and I rate John as "top-notch" Very professional and takes pride in his craft and workmanship. He is very organized and maximizes his time management. John selects only the best quality materials, and will give you value for his work and cost, which is all you can ask for and would want in a "class-A" contractor.

I have hired multiple contractors over the last few years to do various home improvement projects in my house. I have never provided a review to any of the contractors that I hired until now as I was never 100% satisfied with their workmanship. When I hired John of Matson Construction to install crown molding in 4 rooms I was apprehensive about his skills. But John proved me wrong. He is very thorough and knowledgable when it comes to carpentry work. He arrived on time and checked the material that I already purchased and found out that I did not have enough material for the project. John was very accommodating he asked me to place an order with the lumber company so that he can go and pick up the material, which was not part of the original contract. While he was performing the work he was very patient and answered every question that we had regarding the work. As John was wrapping up the work I asked him if he can install a cabinet in my laundry area, he immediately said yes and did not charge any additional amount for the cabinet installation. Above all the price quoted for the job was very reasonable . I will definitely hire him in the future for all my carpentry projects.

This was an extremely difficult job requiring supreme skills. one carpenter turned down the job, the other really didn't look confident. John from Matson Construction did an AMAZING job. I'm overwhelmed with the results. The craftsmanship is so phenomenal, no wood filler is needed for the wainscoting - I'm staining, not painting. Any another project - I'm calling Matson!

John really knows his craft and did a beautiful job, and we are very happy with the end results. Based on his knowledge, skill and professionalism, I recommend him highly and plan to hire him for future projects.

I reached out to John to get 4 interior doors fixed that a previous contractor installed incorrectly and to have some trim work repaired around my attic entrance. He was responsive, on time, professional, and he knows his craft! He assessed the task at hand and communicated my options and educated me on the process. It is worth noting that John actually did the work himself which I always appreciate and respect with contractors. I had the peace of mind that everything would be done right and there would be a open line of communication if something else needed to be addressed during the job vice having a subcontractor do only what is necessary to get the job done quickly and get paid. I've been there and done that only to find a cover up or having to pay again to get it done the right way. In my opinion, if you don't care about the quality of work and you want something done cheap and fast, any contractor or a friend of a friend can do it. But if you care about your time, money, and safety/ functionality of your home for the long haul, I would recommend John to anyone.
