Majestic Moving and Storage

The services were initially great; they arrived on time, were fast and efficient, had all proper moving materials, etc. However, one of the last items moved into our new home would not fit up the stairs and they scratch up the ceiling, the railing and wall pretty significantly as a result of trying to get it upstairs. We eventually hoisted the bed through the deck, but we were disappointed with the large amount of damage by trying to get the bed upstairs.

My husband and I have moved 6 times over the last 8 years (twice cross country). Majestic Movers were the absolute BEST!! Ovando gave an in-home estimate to pack up and move our 3 bedroom townhouse. We were trying to time the move to work around our sellers move-out and work being done in our new home. Steve, Desmond and Dan packed up everything on Thursday morning. They were very careful to wrap all fragile items in the appropriate materials. We were all set to move on Friday but due to an emergency, we needed to postpone our move until Monday. Ovando was more than accommodating. He was extremely understanding and did not even charge us a penalty! Steve, Desmond and Dan arrived with Nick on Monday morning and carefully moved many boxes, large pieces of furniture and 2 grand pianos down stairs and winding narrow hallways. It was pouring rain most of the afternoon but they came in on time and on budget. All our belongs including the pianos arrived without a scratch. I would use their services again happily. They made a very stressful situation a breeze!

They showed up on time, and they did a very good job. They were very respectful of our belongings. I would recommend them to others and use them again.

Estimator came late. That probably should have been my first clue. But the price was fantastic. They guaranteed it wouldn't go over a certain amount and it didn't. The problems were: 1) Contract called for three movers and only two came. What the estimator said would be a four-hour move took over six hours, with me helping. 2) Movers didn't bring ANY tools. Estimator said the movers would take apart anything that needed to be taken apart. We had already disassembled a desk and bunk beds before they arrived. We had to root around in the moving truck for our already packed tools for an Allen wrench and take apart another desk ourselves, while the movers went door-to-door looking for pliers to take apart our bed. 3) Estimator said sofas would be wrapped in plastic. They weren't. It started to rain.

Beforehand, the owner came to our home and after looking at our belongings gave me a written estimate and explained the contract in detail. It was a very pleasant, low-pressure experience. The crew of four guys moved us on quite possibly the hottest, most humid day of the year. It was just miserable out! They arrived on time, and got right to work. Each introduced themselves to us, and they were very polite to our toddler son. They packed the truck very efficiently, and we've yet to find anything damaged in any way, including wine glasses, paintings and china that they packed. They wrapped all of our furniture carefully, as well. And there were barely any nicks on the walls, either. When we arrived at the new house, they again got to work right away. Some boxes did end up in the wrong parts of the house, even though I had labeled them, but that is my only complaint, and it's a small one. Overall, they did a great job. The cost was lower than estimated.

They didn't show up with the materials needed, possibly because there was lack of communication between the contact person and the person who organizes the movers. They did a good job in handling the furniture in the move. I would just make sure they have what is needed if I used them again.

Could not have gone better. I called based on Angie's List rating and feedback. We arranged an on site estimate. Mr. Thelwell arrived on time and gave me the estimate. He was very willing to accommodate my Sunday date for moving. The actual price turned out to be slightly less than estimated, always a good thing. All work was performed on time, no errors, no damage, highly professional staff. Everyone was responsive, friendly and knew their business.

The day started out rocky, with the crew arriving nearly an hour late. I was a little upset by this, but the outstanding performance of the team more than made up for it. They were quick, efficient and had all my belongings in the co-op by 1 pm and they were on their way to southern Maryland shortly thereafter. They were careful with my belongs and took care to wrap and protect furniture. Further, I got feedback from the folks who received my donations and they also said they were impressed with the care, energy and work ethic of the crew. I was very pleased with the service overall, and would use them if I ever move again!

Overall it was great. Ovando came to my house to give me an estimate. He showed up on time for the estimate and provided a "not more than" amount. On the day of the move, the movers showed up a little late, they were supposed to be at the house at 8:30 a.m. I was just about to call when they arrived at 9:00 a.m. - so just a half hour late. Then the 3 movers (as stated in the estimate) started to work. They worked hard and fast all day long. It was really impressive. It was a hot day and they never slowed down. The house that we were moving into had brand new floors, drywall, railings, paint, etc. The movers were very careful not to scratch or damage anything in the new house. They put down floor covers and carefully wrapped all furniture that was not boxed. They were courteous and professional. What was really amazing was that they could remember where they took stuff from the old house and quickly figured out where it would go in the new house (i.e., stuff from the "office" in the old house went to the third floor in the new house). They would ask where to put stuff if they were not sure. They were done at 3:45. The hourly rate would have put them over the estimated amount of $1,000 - but I had that "not more than" quote so that it what I was asked to pay. For me, it was a very good experience.

Their quotes were much lower than anyone else. The owner actually came to our house. They were on time. They were great! Nothing was broken, scratched or damaged. They were professional and very nice as well. They were just wonderful! We are actually already using them soon and have already recommended them to others.

They came and did an estimate. They guaranteed their estimate price. I really like his professionalism, so I didn't even investigate any other companies. They were a little bit late coming, but they turned up within a half hour. It took them a little longer than anticipated and there was a piece of furniture that did get damaged. However, we did not pursue these damages because the final price was over the original estimate. They honored their guaranteed price of $1500.

It went very well. The pricing was very reasonable. Everyone was very professional. They did a very good job. They went above and beyond the ordinary. I had a few pieces that I didn't have time to pack and they went a head and moved them too with no extra charge. I was moving from a house to an apartment and they had to go up two flights of stairs. Everything came to the new house in perfect shape. They packed a very large mirror for me and they did a great job. I would recommend them to others.

Team of three movers arrived promptly and worked quickly and professionally. Nothing was damaged, the movers were friendly and responsive. Arranging the logistics went smoothly. The operators were available by email and phone. I would highly recommend their services.

It went very well. They were where they said they would be when they said they would be there. They were careful when they were moving, there was a small amount of damage but nothing out of the ordinary.

They were very clean and quick. They were very careful and friendly. It took a lot longer than I thought it was but I think I just underestimated it and so I don't think they worked slowly or anything like that.

The two employees were satisfactory. They were a bit late but worked quickly. They did not break anything. They did forget several cabinets worth of kitchen supplies which I had to move myself. Based on the Angie's List reviews, I was expecting a top-notch company but (like Hilldrup, for instance). I guess, given the small size of the move I probably was given the B team.

Ovando came to our house to give us a quote for the move. The quote was $1600.00 for 8 hours move time with one truck and 6 movers. I called him back about 3 days later to ask some further questions about insurance, carpet protection, and garment boxes. He responded promptly and answered all of my question. I told him that I would like to retain his services. He asked if I would send a deposit check for $100.00 to hold the moving date. I was told that the movers would be at my location at 8:30. The day of the move the movers called me at 8:45 to tell me they were running late but would be there at 9:30. They did show up at exactly 9:30. They worked quickly and were very professional. They wrapped every piece of furniture to ensure no damage would be done. When arriving at our new home, they put down hard wood floor protection and carpet protection. They put each item where instructed, they set up furniture that had been disassembled and also helped move heavy items into place (TV's, etc.). I couldn't have been more happy with their service. After they were finished, they brought me an invoice for more than $300.00 less than what we were quoted! These men were polite and extraordinarily professional. I am going to have them move more items for me in the near future.

I called on Saturday for a Tuesday move, after the Monday holiday. Ovando told me he had a truck and a two man crew available for $125.00 an hour and estimated that the job would take about three hours since I had less than a dozen things to move. I forgot to mention I found them on Angie's list and called back immediately and was told I was eligible for a 5% discount. The crew arrived on site and on time but I was surprised to see an extra mover. The bill did not reflect the discount but I didn't make an issue of if at the time. There was a public works crew doing major street repairs directly in front of the house where they were to pick up the furniture and the movers were not able to use the driveway. Their attitudes were terrific. They wrapped up the furniture very well and carried it to the dollies then wheeled it to the truck. They handled the unexpected obstruction very well. Three of the pieces were heavy and I was impressed with the care taken to wrap everything and move it gently. The load in went swiftly as did the move in at the destination site. I paid the listed price and was very happy with the service. I called the office to ask about the discount and they offered to refund the difference. It was an altogether stress free move that was finished in less than three hours!

The estimate was quick and painless and performed on my schedule. We were to have a team pack our house on Saturday and move it on Sunday. Upon request, we were provided boxes and packing materials so we could get a head start. The morning the packers were to arrive I got a call informing me that the crew would be late because of a broken truck. I got another call in the early afternoon telling me there was a chance the crew might not make it. I waited for final confirmation and got none. I called back early that evening and was told I would have two crews on Sunday to pack and move the town house. On Sunday one crew arrived and started the packing. The second crew never arrived so it took the first crew 12 hours to get the whole place packed and moved. It took three trips in the undersized truck (lucky the move was only a mile). The crew was very energetic, polite and responsible. Near the end of the 12 hour ordeal these poor guys were beat and got a bit sloppier than when they started. There were a few scuffs in the paint and a few rub marks on the furniture when they were done. One of the best aspects of the transaction was that I was promised the price would not exceed a certain amount and that promise was kept.

They were very responsive and we were pleased with the quality and timeliness of their service. They packed and delivered the furnishing with great care. We needed to pack and move the contents of my Mother's apartment and they were great in accommodating our needs. Having done several local moves I think their cost was better than what I've experienced in the past.

I called Ovando 2 days in advance to set up the move. The conversation was pleasant, and he gave me a quote over the phone: $150 for 3 guys and a truck; job would take about 4-5 hours. I mentioned to him that I found him on Angie's List and he gave me a discount; no charge for travel time or packing materials. The guys were supposed to come at 1pm, but were delayed due to an earlier job and called me tell me that they would be a little late, and since they were running late, there would be 4 guys. They arrived at 2pm, and did their work very efficiently and professionally. They dismantled and packed my furniture in cloth and bubble wrap, and were very careful in moving, not touching any wall once in the new house. They also helped lay out the furniture and boxes in the house. They finished the entire move in 2.5 hours. At the end of the move, they said that since it was 4 guys, the charge would be $175 per hour, and there is a 3 hour minimum. They gave me a 10% discount on the rate. I was kind of expecting that they would charge $150 since they were late and brought 4 guys. But looking at the great job they had done, I was OK with what they charged me. Overall, although there were some surprises at the end due to not knowing before hand that the rate would be higher with 4 guys, I am very pleased and happy with their service.

The company's service was excellent! They worked rapidly and very carefully, like the furniture was their own. Everything was carefully wrapped, and nothing was damaged. They finished exactly within the time period quoted to me.

Ovando (the owner) came out to give an estimate promising my parents to be present on the day of the move. They arrived promptly and worked tirelessly and cheerfully. They packed books which was part of the estimate, and also packed a number of other boxes for us. The final cost was higher than the estimate and reflected an additional two hours of work packing on the day of the move. They carefully moved the antiques which are dear to my parents' hearts. They were able to accommodate a change in the move date. My sisters and I truly felt as though my parents and their possessions were in the best hands possible.
