Henderson's was easy to work with setting up the move, including reasonable and straightforward pricing. The team showed up on-time, and worked diligently and carefully until the last box was delivered. They were good-humored and communicated well throughout the day, including the owner checking in to make sure everything was okay. We were very pleased and would definitely hire them again.
Description of Work: We were clearing out our Mom's house to be able to sell it. There were boxes, and a variety of furniture, including a piano, that needed to be loaded and then delivered to four different locations in Alexandria. There were several family members involved in arranging the move and then being on-site the day of.

When I called Henderson's and told Anthony what I needed, he visited me the next day and assessed the requirements. He determined the size of the van, the number of pads, etc. I was concerned about my many antique phonographs, radios and framed antique posters. He assured me that it would not be a problem. I told him that the lease on my new apartment began on August 1st. He said he would pick up all my things on July 31 in Alexandria, and deliver everything the next day, August 1, in Pittsburgh. And that's exactly what he did. Anthony and his excellent crew did a terrific job. They were very efficient, courteous and professional. They work very well together as a team. Moving can be a stressful experience, but I did not find that to be the case. There are times when it pays to get the best, and moving is one of them. My things arrived safely and on time. They had no problem using the elevators to take my things to my new apartment. I wanted to find a quality mover and, in doing so, I also found a great group of people. I am grateful for everything they did for me. Thanks again, Anthony, and thank you, Henderson's Moving Services ! I recommend them to anyone without hesitation.
Description of Work: Henderson's Moving Services moved me from a 2 bedroom garden apartment in Alexandria to a 2 bedroom apartment on the top floor in Pittsburgh, a distance of 250 miles.

We were very pleased with their service, from the office staff to the crew our experience was one of the best we've had in the area. We're local realtors, and we don't recommend anyone but Hendersons. When the time came for me to move I was once again pleased to have Henderson on my side!

On the day of the move, three gentlemen arrived on time with a truck and all the supplies needed to move our many boxes and furniture from the 3rd and 4th floor of a townhome condo without the aid of elevators. The men were professional and took great care to protect our property. The job was finished a little quicker which saved us a little money. if we were to move again we would definitely use the company. The guys that helped up made the move quite enjoyable. We would also not hesitate to recommend them to others

I contacted this company, along with others, for a quote in moving from an efficiency apartment to a condo within Arlington, VA. I decided to go with Henderson's because the quote they gave was the best I received, and also because they are a local, family owned business, and I like to support local businesses when I can. The day of the move came, and the only positive experience was that they arrived on time. The guy walked in, never introduced himself or his crew, and took a quick tour before bringing in the other guys. I had SIX pieces of furniture and a lot of boxes. I'd told the owner that I didn't have much furniture, but I did have a lot of boxes, and he said that wouldn't be difficult and the move would go fast. I even hired an extra mover, based on his recommendation, so that the move could be completed in 3 hours. The owner promised 3 wardrobe boxes would arrive with the movers, but they forgot them, so I had to scramble and make extra boxes for all my clothes...which added even more boxes. I lived on the ground floor of the building, and the service elevator was half a story down, meaning these guys had it pretty easy as far as loading the truck. One mover drug a heavy rod iron baker's rack across the wood floor, leaving a giant scratch from one end of the apartment to the other. Another banged a glass door bookcase set until I asked him to be extra careful, as that's the only prized possession piece of furniture I own. The loading went fairly quickly, so we set off for the new location. It's seriously 4 miles down the road, so the commute took little time. When we arrived at the new place, the movers had to walk up one flight of stairs and directly into my place. The lead mover was great - he was pleasant, carried multiple boxes at a time, and seemed to enjoy his job. The other two guys were useless. They were incredibly slow, carrying one box at a time, and heaved and sighed like I was making them walk up a 20-story building. One guy said he pulled a leg muscle so he sat in the truck for a while. As two of the three guys were only carrying one box at the time, the move kept going, and going, and going. Only during the last three trips did they start using a dolly to carry multiple boxes at a time. I said it was about time (I just assumed they didn't have one since they never used it) and they said something about the angle of the stairs made it hard to use, but obviously that's ridiculous since they ended up using it without any issues and the staircases are very wide and the stairs look like every other stair. When it was all said and done, I owed $200 more than I was quoted because it took so long. I begrudgingly paid because I had no idea what else to do (this was my first time hiring movers) and most definitely over-tipped since I only had $20 bills to offer. I wish I'd been brave and only given the lead mover a tip - he's the only one who deserved one. Once I started separating the boxes and unpacking them did I realize that not less than 6 were upside down (despite me marking them on every side of every box), and my prized piece of furniture, the bookcase, was nicked in two places. The owner did call later that day to ask how the move went, but I missed his call. I'm very uncomfortable complaining, so it took me about 2 weeks before I gained the courage to call back and explain what had happened. I left a message, stating that I had an unpleasant experience and asking for them to call me back. They never did. Please, save yourself the trouble and don't call Henderson's. The price I ended up paying was what the other companies had estimated, and they had many more safeguards for protecting my possessions. I thought given how small a move it was I didn't need that, and maybe I wouldn't if I had used another company.
Description of Work: A horrible moving experience in Arlington, VA. I hired them to move from an efficiency apartment to a condo. The total distance was 4 miles, yet the move took double the time they quoted (and $200 more) and were not careful with my belongings.

The worst move ever!! It took them 9 hours to move a 2 bedroom condo 10 min away to a townhouse. Two years ago I moved from a 3 level townhome to the 2 bedroom condo which was 45 minutes away and the move only took 5 hours (I also had more things during the prior move). That moving company had to walk the same distance to the loading dock, which was Henderson's reason for the move taking so long. The estimated time to move was 5 hours and I expressed my dissatisfaction with the owner. He stated that the loading dock was far away from the elevator. Then when he came to my house to fix the scratched wood furniture, he stated that his guys said it took a long time to move me because my things weren't packed and I had clothes everywhere and I was not ready to move. A TOTAL LIE!!! All of my things were packed and the things I didn't pack were in a room with the door closed and I told them not to move them. Which they did not. I talked to the owner the day of the move and he mentioned nothing about my things not being ready to be moved. The owner stated he would ask his crew again but it's pointless. Maybe they told additional lies because I did not tip them but why would I tip if I did not receive high quality service? Nothing was done to rectify the situation other than the furniture repair. I found another review of this company on yelp. I wish I had read that before I hired them. I will NEVER use them again and will advise my family, friends, co-workers, and church members not to use them as well.
Description of Work: Move a 2 bedroom condo into a townhouse. All items were boxed with the exception of main furniture (2 couches, dining room set, bar, bed w/ 2 nightstands, bookcase, desk, file cabinet) and shoe boxes which the crew put in 1 big box to carry.
