Rob and his crew were a pleasure to work with. The project began with a very detailed landscaping plan of the entire property. We were provided with an approximate cost of each project as well as an overall cost. We worked with landscape designer Sean who was patient and helped with ideas along the way. We decided to start with the front yard as several bushes had become overgrown, trees and bushes had been planted previously without regard for aesthetics, and a patch of yard was in dire need of new sod. Rob arrived promptly on the first day to walk the property with us and give an overview of the work to be performed. He told us that the job would take 1-2 days to complete and it ended up taking 2 days. His crew was punctual both days and worked hard for the duration of the project. Rob came by multiple times to check the progress of the project and emailed us throughout both days with updates. He even went so far as to advise against one portion of the project that was on the plan, but that he disagreed with after walking the property. A crushed stone walkway was on the plan and, even though it would've meant more money for his company, Rob told us that based on the layout of our property, they could do it but it would really be a waste of money. After the project was completed, Rob waited to receive final payment until after 6pm when we could inspect the job and walk through the property with him. There were several things, such as trimming an unruly Japanese Maple, discarding an old swingset, and transplanting some of the bushes along the house, that were not on the contract but were done to improve the overall look of the property. We are very happy with the outcome of the project and will definitely be using Groff Landscaping again.

This project was the best experience I have ever had with a service provider. Sean, the designer, took my rather vague vision and sample photos and produced a design that was perfectly scaled for my small townhouse patio area. Robert Groff, the project manager, worked hard through several rounds of contract changes to meet my budget constraints. Rob went to great lengths to develop a work schedule that accommodated my needs. All of the Groff employees were a joy to work with. The crew worked tirelessly to complete the project on time. All of the Groff employees arrived punctually each day and cleaned up everything at the end of the day. All were conscientious and very knowledgable about hardscaping and landscaping. The result as a lovely outdoor space that I will enjoy for years to come. I highly recommend this company and will certainly use them again when a need arises.

Robert Groff first sent a landscape architect to our home to discuss what we wanted to do (no extra charge). After that consultation, Robert came by to discuss architect recommendations and we discussed in great detail what we wanted to achieve. We discussed in great detail possible designs, type of stone, etc. Robert was superb at both listening and giving recommendations based on our budget. Within a day or two Robert gave us estimates and work began promptly. The men doing the work were very professional, timely and cleaned up daily on the job. Robert or his father, Bob, were on the job on a daily basis and closely monitored the work. The work was completed as scheduled and on budget. The results were simply AWESOME! You can feel absolutely comfortable in trusting Robert's advice! He was right-on in both design and type of stone used ,which needed to match as closely as possible existing stone. In addition, I questioned the size of the boulder for the space where it would be placed (I thought it was too big), but it was exactly right, although he assured me he would exchange at no extra charge until I was happy with it. Trust Groff Landscape to achieve AMAZING results! We continue to get compliments on the work that was done!

Rob and his team were very professional. From the design process through the final installation, they were available for questions at any time, punctual, hard working and responsive. I would definitely call Groff Landscaping Design again for future needs.

We selected Groff Landscape by perusing Angie's list. Our objective was to achieve the best value for our intended budget. As a commercial real estate developer, I value quality and responsive service and Groff delivered both (for those of you will not read to the end). The first step was the design. Sean Ryan discussed with us our objectives and our life style, which I thought was pretty cool. He created different scenarios with alternative stairways (standard wood switchback and wrought iron circular). As owners in a townhome community we had to seek approval of our design and Sean blew them away with his plan and 3-D images and detailed specifications. Yes, we made some changes but the responsiveness and modified designs were refined to our desires. They provided a preliminary cost estimate based on our desires and upon approval from the HOA, Robert came to the house to review the cost and design and provided samples of the patio material. We immediately liked the Techo-Bloc pavers and he suggested a Stone Center to visit to pick materials. Robert offered his advice on durability, quality and color and we quickly arrived at two different colors, one for the main field and one for the border of the 475 sf patio area. We arrived at a fair price with minimal negotiation and this price included his staff supervising the installation of the 60 linear feet of perimeter fence. I separately contracted for the circular stair but Robert coordinated their installation with the elevation of the patio so there would be no "disconnects". One final thought on the design- Sean recommended a circular focal point where the side yard intersects with the rear yard and it is truly over the top as a conversation piece. Form an installation standpoint, I have never been more impressed with the quality and I have witnessed over 30 million sf of office and industrial development requiring landscape installation at each and every property. Luis and Jaime's teams knew exactly what to do in the sequence of activities and Luis ensured that the slope from the home outward had positive drainage. And his design ensured that we had no small pieces of patio, and this was extremely difficult as we had curved sections in the patio to enhance the design. There were a few existing condition issues and Robert immediately suggested field design changes, which, in fact, improved the final product. Groff provides the best value, quality and responsiveness in my opinion. Sean can translate your vision into reality. Their staff is extremely professional and committed to providing a quality service. The field changes I am certain increased their cost and they did not increase their price. Robert is a true professional- it is a joy to work with someone who is client-centered and loves his work. Robert and his team will obviously design and install our second phase of the installation. I highly recommend their services.

We were extremely pleased with the work of Groff throughout the duration of the project- this is the first big ticket home improvement project we've undertaken with a contractor and we're so glad it was with Groff. I suspect there may have been cheaper ways to get this project done, but any premium we paid was worth it for knowing that we were working with pro's who will stand by their work. We had our first meeting with the Groff team (designer Sean Ryan) in late summer 2012- we walked around the backyard, talked about what we disliked about the existing backyard and thought we might want and potential options. At that point, we did not have a strong vision and were really looking for some vision and ideas from them. Sean did some measurements either on that visit or a follow-up, then pretty quickly delivered the first design along with 3D pictures from different views of what it would look like, including a video that sort of clipped together the different views. The 3D drawings were amazing- really the only way we could have grasped what the plan would really look like. The vision was fantastic, very close to what we wanted, but well outside what we wanted to spend. From there, we spent a number of months and ~5-6 iterations on the design and proposal (with no additional cost) to eventually arrive at what we would do. We pulled out a couple pieces of the proposal and contracted them out separately- the tree removal work and deck- which saved a lot of money, and Groff was very accommodating with that. By the time we finally committed to the job, they were booked for about a month, but we got the work scheduled for May. We met with owner Rob Groff, and knew right off that he was on top of things. He kept us updated on weather related schedule shifts, but work started right around our original scheduled date, maybe a little sooner. All of the work was/is top quality and looks magnificent! They had a team of 2-3 guys working for about 2 weeks (Groff employees, not subs) and they did great. At one point, Rob didn't like the amount of space between the seat wall and edge of patio, and he had the team spend about a day re-working that section. We were in regular contact with Rob about any questions or issues via email and/or his near-daily site visits, and he was always responsive. Even after the work was completed, we have exchanged numerous emails about questions we've had, he's come back to inspect how the trees and plants were doing, and it's clear that he wants to be sure that we love our new space- and we do! Would recommend to anyone without hesitation!!!

This was a great project, and I was thoroughly impressed with the Groff Team. They were professional, highly responsive to my dozens of questions, and finished a large project in only a week. Our new backyard looks fabulous and everything was delivered on time and on budget!

They got back to me promptly and came up with a plan that told me exactly what they were going to do and why. Since this was a rental property I wanted a very low maintenance design. After agreeing to the work they showed up on time and completed the whole job in under 6 hours. They turned an eyesore into one of the best looking yards in the cluster. A small job but one of the best experiences I've had with a landscaping company.

We had Groff landscaping come out to provide us with a design and estimate for our small townhouse's front and backyards. Sean was incredibly professional, timely and responsive. We loved the design that they sent to us, but unfortunately were unable to proceed with the work due to some budget setbacks caused by the derecho that hit in 2012.

We needed a retaining wall installed (approx 2 feet high x 70 feet long), and trees, shrubs, and grasses planted on our property. In particular, I needed professional guidance on what sort of plants would thrive and look best in our garden. I was impressed with their willingness to work with me selecting the plants I wanted, and to revise plans accordingly. They also gave care and consideration to the exact placement of the wall. The finished product is a hugh improvement to our property. It is well built and aesthetically pleasing. Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this company to anyone. They provided everything one would expect from a contractor; professionalism, responsiveness, competitive pricing, and a quality work product delivered when promised. I plan on using Groff Landscaping for all my future projects.

We found this company on Angie's List and it lived up to its reputation. They were professional when they came out to give us the initial consultation. After evaluating the yard and us giving them some general ideas about what we thought we wanted they brought back to us color drawings of what the end result would look like, in addition to a online 2-D image of the house from the street view with the completed landscape. This made it very easy for us to understand the investment and the potential end result. They then worked through the project with us to tweak colors and plants to accommodate our taste. When it was time for the work they arrived on time every day, cleaned up and produced a beautiful yard. It's a father son combo, and you can tell they care about their work, their business and the relationships they build. 22207

We chose to go with Groff Landscape out of all of our options for a number of reasons. They were extremely professional, talented, listened to our needs/wants, their price was lower than most and the attention to detail that they provided far exceeded the other bids we received. I felt extremely comfortable in their design knowledge and experience as far as the aesthetics of how the completed project was going to look. From the materials selection to the design in general and we couldn't be more pleased with the outcome! We absolutely love it and would highly recommend them. They are a top notch run business and the entire process was painless. The Vice President, Robert Groff was our project manager. He was very involved in our project from start to finish by visiting the job site once sometimes twice daily until completion, to make sure we were happy with everything and didn't have any unanswered questions. Sean was our designer. He is very talented and did a great job with our design concept, and was willing to modify it as needed due to budget concerns. The installers were professional, considerate, dedicated, and hardworking. We were very impressed with them and the entire process. It's a very hands on, client oriented company.

Their price is a little bit high, but they are reliable and do good work.

Robert Groff arrived promptly and we discussed various ideas and options for the job. He was very open to our input and was open to the idea of transplanting existing bushes in order to reduce costs. He explained that this was their busiest time of the year but that he should be able to meet the our desired time lines (we had some out of town travel scheduled. We wanted to make a hiring decision before traveling and then have the work commence once we returned). Robert provided us with a well thought out concept drawing and price estimate. Although the plan was excellent and reasonably priced for this type of work we liked another, slightly less expensive plan, better better and ultimately used that contractor. Groff Landscape Design deserves very serious consideration if you want a professional, courteous approach by a firm that will respectfully listen to your ideas and then incorporate them into their proposal. The only reason I didn't give them an "A" for "responsiveness" was a delay in providing the proposal. Since they were the last firm to visit I needed their estimate in a timely manner to make the hiring decision as mentioned above. Their slight delay in providing the estimate didn't factor in our decision to use another firm but it did reduce the time available for us to make our decision. Having said that however, we would still consider them for future work since Robert was very professional, kept me advised on the delay in providing the estimate, and for the quality of their design work and reasonable cost.

They did a great job. Showed up on time ,worked really hard, did exactly what was agreed upon and finished in the allotted time. The stone around the planting bed is perfect and the swale really helps with the runoff.

I obtained 3 quotes and met with all 3 of the landscape design companies I considered. I think all of them would have been able to do the work well and all were in the same ballpark as far as price. But Groff had the best reviews and I found Robert's ideas to be a little more interesting than the others. Groff Landscaping is one of the most responsive companies I have ever worked with. Rob was in constant contact about the design and answered all my questions promptly. He worked hard to get us onto his very busy summer planting schedule since ours was such a small project. Although small, we never felt like we had been left behind but were given the same attention as other projects that were probably much larger. Rob worked and re-worked the plan to meet our needs and suggested plants that would survive the hot sun we now have in our back yard. Ease of maintenance was also a requirement which was part of the plant selection process. The work was well done by the workers and they were done in 4 hours! The only small glitch was that they had switched 2 of the plants as far as locations but Rob came by himself to make the switch. Also, due to the narrow size of one area where landscape stone was to be placed at the heat pump, the metal edging would not fit. Rob measured and suggested some rectangular landscaping stones that would create an edge between the stones and the mulch. Although these stones were more expensive than the metal edging originally specified he did not charge us extra since this was an issue that was not anticipated. All in all our experience with Groff was excellent and we would definitely use them again and recommend them to other.

Perfect execution start to finish. Planning, installation and follow up all went well.

I used two companies because Groff was more expensive than the other provider was. I used the other provider exclusively for the concrete, the pavers and the retaining walls. Then I brought in Groff afterwards to do the esthetic landscaping. They did not do any of the planting; I am still doing it myself. They did excavating and changing the slope of my backyard to make a flat surface and a hill instead of one long slope. Then they held it back with boulders for a natural look. It was want I wanted and he seemed to really get it. I showed him a few pictures of a few examples and he delivered. In terms of price, I did not do the whole job with them. I would use them in the future.

Everything went smoothly and went according to plan -- no problems whatsoever.

Outstanding! It has turned one of the ugliest areas of our backyard into the prettiest, my husband and I stand on the deck above and just look at it wondering why we didn't do it sooner! Everything was done on time and professionally from start to finish. The crew was great, very courteous, thorough and neat. We were given specific instructions as to care and watering of the plants following installation, all the plants are top quality and have done well. Robert is a hands on owner he would pop in to check on progress and then checked everything again when the crew was finished. He noticed we had a few small areas of grass that had died in the yard and he offered to put sod down for us as he had some left from another job. We have know Robert and his family for 20+ years as they live down the street from us and our older son grew up being friends with him. He and his parents are wonderful people so when he told us he was going to start a landscaping company it was a "no brainer" that if we ever wanted anything done we would contact him. We always thought of Robert as a great kid and he has certainly evolved into an outstanding young man and businessman. His creativity in design is excellent, he is extremely personable, possesses great listening skills and pays attention to the customers needs, desires, and financial boundaries. We couldn't be happier with the quality or professionalism of his work, we will certainly call on him again for any further landscaping needs

From start to finish, working with Groff Landscape Design has been a great experience and we appreciate the wonderful new patio and backyard at our townhouse. We searched Angie's list and had several estimates for the work we wanted done. Groff came in right in the middle of the pack but Rob was friendly and knowledgeable and we knew instantly they were the right people for the job (even if it cost us a little more). We needed to replace the old backyard the previous owners left us which included a large concrete slab, lots of terrible looking stones, and cheap pavers. In addition, the grass and vegetation desperately needed to be replaced along with a more efficient drainage system to move water away from our house and not into the middle of our backyard where it was previously settling. Rob was in constant communication with my wife and I and they ended up starting the work almost a week ahead of schedule. He came by the work site each day to check on things and personally answered any and all questions we had. The finished product, after about 4 days was everything we had hoped for. The back of the house looks completely new and we seem to have a ton of usable space we didn't have previously. The workers arrived each morning around 7am and stayed until nearly 5pm. They always cleaned up after themselves and were very respectful of our things. My wife and I both work in professions that require extensive customer service and Rob's was second to none. I would not hesitate for a second to recommend this company to a friend or relative (or anyone reading this on Angie's List). Thanks for taking care of us Rob. We truly appreciate the wonderful work and service you guys provided.

From the design portion all the way through the scheduling and installation contact with the owner and information was great. They use their own people for all the work. Of the three and 1/2 days the work took the owner was here each day sometimes more than once. There was also always a head worker here who spoke excellent English. The entire team was courteous, friendly, knowledgeable and willing to accommodate while working constantly. I am really thrilled at the transformation and gratified with the quality of the people who made it that way.

I paid a lot for the quality of the work done. I was very happy with what they did. They had driven all the heavy equipment over, which was rather nice of them to do. They communicated really well to make sure I got what I wanted; but it didn't turn out well because I went to work. When I came back home, I didn't like the way it looked. They worked with me to redo it. It was pleasant change in the area. I highly recommend them.

We were on a TV show, and they sponsored it. The overall cost of the work was $30,000. Rob has an awesome personality. He is probably one of the nicest people I've ever met. He is easy to work with and honest, which is really important to us. I felt really at ease with him. We liked him so much that we're planning on using him for the front yard. He was here and ready when we were. He stayed until he was done at the end of the night, which was great. They had three days to do it. He was a perfectionist, and he stayed as late as possible to make sure the job was complete.

We found them at the Home and Garden Show and found three people. We interviewed all of them and they were number one. So, I had them do the work and we absolutely loved them. We paid them somewhere between $18000 and $20000. They also gave us an outstanding recommendation for somebody to put deck steps including a big platform part way down the steps on to an existing deck. I would definitely use their services in the future too.
