It went very well.

Atlas Home Inspection was excellent to work with for our home inspection. He was timely, responsive, and able to conduct the inspection on short notice to assist in the closing process. He did a tremendous job of walking us through the house, both the interior and exterior, in order to show us the specifics of what he saw. He was very thorough and opened our eyes with different aspects of the house. He turned his report around within 24 hours which was especially impressive considering the inspection was on July 4th weekend. The report was detailed, filled with suggestions and pictures based on his experience. I would highly recommend using Atlas Home Inspection and if the situation arises for an inspection in the future, we would definitely use their services again.

The inspection went very well. Ed Snope was on time, waiting for us as we arrived at the condo. Ed was very thorough in his inspection and took the time to explain each item to my son and daughter-in-law, who were the purchasers. He was realistic in his description of which items were important, and which were less so. There were a number of items which took a bit of "exploration" and Ed took the time to really dig into them. He issued his report in less than 24 hours, and my son was able to cite a number of important issues to remedy in order for the seller to remedy the contingency. A few of the items were repaired, and a check was issued by the seller to pay for others that couldn't be done in a timely manner. All in all, the inspection saved about 7 times its cost. Ed was professional throughout. I have the utmost confidence in him and would definitely use him for other inspections. This is a first home for my son and daughter-in-law, but I have owned six houses during my life. In each case, we used inspectors before finalizing contracts, and I would rate Ed as the best inspector I have encountered. I gave him A ratings in all areas, and definitely recommend him.

Ed Snope was a very quiet and pleasant man. He was focused and incredibly thorough in the inspections. He inspected the first house we wished to purchase and discovered a lot of major issues, so we backed out of that contract. As a first time home buyer, we didn't want to pay close to the top end of our budget for a house and then need to make 150-200k in repairs! We looked at the house twice and tried to do a quick inspection ourselves before we offered, but Ed found so much more. He spent 4.5 hours inspecting the home. He answered questions and explained each repair needed. We continued our search and found a second home and we both looked at our agent and said set it up with Ed! Again, he did an amazingly thorough inspection and explained all the needed repairs. And 4.5 hours later (on his anniversary no less!) we had the information to make an informed decision on wether we should buy this home or not. I am happy to say we are moving forward with the purchase and we know what to expect from our new home. If you think he may be a bit expensive, he is worth every single penny!

Ed arrived on time and was professional and focused throughout his inspection. He is highly knowledgeable of building codes and construction "best practices." When there was one item that he was unsure about (a low voltage wire that looped behind a kitchen cabinet), he acknowledged that he doubted the efficacy of the practice and promised to research it and let me know what he learned. Indeed that evening he emailed with the results of his research. I am knowledgeable of construction, but when Ed sensed that I didn't throughly understand something, he patiently and clearly provided a through and concise explanation. His report was extensive and every item that he listed was documented with a photo. In many cases, he placed red arrows on the photos that pinpointed the concerns. We used Ed's report to establish the pre-settlement punch list with the developer. Even with my knowledge of construction, I would have never found the many corrections that needed to be made without Ed. In two cases, his findings involved fire hazards. In summary, don't go into one of the most significant purchases of your life without a decent home inspector; and Ed isn't just decent, he is outstanding!

It went well. He was there early and inspecting the grounds and outside of the building. Was very detailed, gave advice on everything and explained things I wasn't familiar with, gave me a free little gadget that I needed to bleed the heater (radiator) with in the future, and was very thorough. The report was done by around noon the next day, was very thorough and helpful in requesting fixes from the seller before finalizing my purchase. Atlas seemed very concerned with my safety, too, and pointed out a lot of issues that may potentially be unsafe. Overall, thorough, no-nonsense, and timely for a good price in my area.

Ed arrived on time and stayed over 2 hours. I asked him to do a walk-through as opposed to a formal report. Since I live in the house, I know the new appliances are fine as are the sinks, drains and electrical switches. A more thorough inspection would have cost more and taken longer for those who are looking for a written report. Ed was very attentive to detail and very knowledgeable in all areas of house building as well as current building codes. He noticed details that needed to be addressed in some things that were, in fact, just fixed by professionals. As he went through each room, he would tell me what needed to be fixed or replaced, with an approximate cost of each option if I had the work done professionally. He was very respectful of the fact that I do a lot of repairs myself and told me exactly what I would need to buy if I did the work. He also told me some of the things a potential buyer's inspector might notice that I could easily remedy beforehand. He noticed the dates on appliances and upgrades (even a window!) so I would have the information available for negotiation's sake. Ed went under the stair storage area as well as in the attic and on the roof. He noticed things that recent workmen never noticed. For example, he saw one exhaust fan vent pipe in the attic which was not attached to the roof pipe, so the exhaust would be emptying into the attic. Just two months ago I had the attic insulated and even though they placed baffles around the pipe, they never told me the pipe was not attached. I would definitely hire Ed again and recommend him to anyone looking for a detail-oriented, personable professional home inspector.

Ed was very personable and thorough in his explanations and recommendations to fix or maintain major and minor issues he found. There was no ambiguity in his report which was delivered the same day.

Ed conducted a comprehensive inspection on a townhouse we were under contract to buy. He pointed out a number of major potential issues, some obvious, some not-so-obvious, answered our questions, and provided a complete report with pictures within 24 hours of the inspection. We didn't move forward with the purchase, and although it was disappointing, it was the right decision. Ed's inspection probably saved us thousands of dollars over the next few years. When we find another property, we'll be calling Atlas to perform the inspection.

Ed was extremely thorough and discovered problems. I wouldn't have even thought of. He was on time and professional. I would highly recommend Ed and Atlas Home inspection to anyone.

Ed Snope picked up where Jim from a different home inspection company FAILED to show for our scheduled inspection. Ed was very professional and genuinely proved his attention to detail during the inspection. He almost seemed like a crime scene investigator in pointing out areas of concern and additionally provided great tips and remedies for every item of concern. This has been the best and most informative home inspection experience I've had.

This review is waaay late -- we bought a house in 2013 and promptly had a baby, so I'm *just now* getting around to joining Angie's List. We've been here over a year now, and there's not a single repair that we've done that's been unexpected -- and that's thanks to Ed, who did our home inspection before we moved in. Even though it was probably one of the first inspections he did, he was thorough and meticulous. I've had previous inspections last no more than 90 minutes and miss a lot of things (my best friend is a general contractor, and I've had him double-check inspections in the past), but Ed was there -- in the attic, on the roof, in the basement, above the garage -- for almost twice that. Ed's attention to detail and experience with all aspects of repair and renovation make him (in my opinion) perfect for home inspections. If ours was one of his first inspections, I can only imagine how much better he's gotten.

Ed was recommended to us by another well-respected inspector who was unavailable for a quick turn-around pre-inspection (two day's notice). Ed was very accessible over phone and e-mail and responsive to our needs as first time home-buyers in D.C. After confirming that he was ASHI certified (important to us in this competitive market where many other buyers submit bids without an inspection contingency), we hired Ed to inspect a home on Capitol Hill. We spent 4 hours with him on the inspection and really got to know the in's and out's of the house. Unfortunately, he identified some potential major issues related to a leak from the roof to the basement that led us to reconsider submitting a bid (we heard that other buyers later pulled their bid after discovering some of this damage). However, we were thankful for Ed for being as thorough and meticulous as he was. We next hired Ed to inspect another home in upper NW. Again, Ed was extremely meticulous and flagged numerous issues with the house (pursuant to ASHI standards). Thankfully, most items were minor and nothing was a show-stopper, so we moved forward, and today the house is ours! If you want an extremely thorough inspector and want to get to know your potential home (rather than just having a 'go-no-go') and use the report for upcoming projects, then a good inspection report is a small price to pay and Ed is your man.

My real estate agent's usual bank of Home Inspectors happened to be booked on the day I needed - but she got a reference for Ed Snope at Atlas Home Inspection. We were very impressed with his thoroughness and identifying so many different issues. He did not seem to be finding problems just to find them - it was all very straightforward. But he was extremely patient with explaining all the different concerns and speaking in terms a non-professional like myself could understand. He was very generous with his time and seemed to enjoy my interest in learning everything rather than worrying about the amount of time I was taking up. As a person dealing with a first Home inspection, I would absolutely recommend Ed Snope and Atlas Home Inspection! In addition, my realtor, who has worked with dozens of Home Inspectors, commented on his thoroughness, professionalism, and generosity with his time. His report was very complete. She said was also adding him to her shortlist of professional Home Inspectors!

The inspection went very well. The home sellers were present and though this might make for a potentially contentious situation, Mr. Snope managed to be cordial and stay focused. The home sellers were impressed with his attention to detail and thoroughness, and mentioned that they'd like him to inspect property that they would be purchasing. EMr. Snope was relaxed, friendly, and focused throughout the inspection. The inspection didn't feel hurried, and it didn't feel like we were wasting time, either. The report Mr. Snope provided was well organized, and contained incidental "FYI" observations mixed in with recommendations. I liked that specific recommendations were made and specific methods recommended. Photos with arrows were helpful exhibits.
