Great service and expertise from Arlington Heating and AC. In addition to the new furnace I mention here, this company provided all new duct work in my house recently as part of a home remodel. Owner Tommy and installer Tom are great to work with. They also do my ongoing maintenance - - Doug knows all in this area.

Called at 12:15 the day after Thanksgiving. By 1pm the issue was resolved. I've never experienced service so quickly. The woman on the phone dispatched Mike who was nearby. He arrived, and was able to diagnose and correct the issue within 15 minutes. The call wasn't cheap - $124 to diagnose the issue an $35 to correct it - but having a working furnace on a cold day is worth the price. Their punctuality and speed with which they arrived and corrected the issue, was worth the price.
Description of Work: Called because my furnace was not coming on regularly, and when it did it would often cycle on and off repeatedly. Mike was great, and cleaned the flame rod, quickly resolving the issue.

They are usually pretty reliable. They show up when they say they are going to with one exception. They get things done right. They are pretty fair about telling you what you need and when we had issues in past years, they are pretty good about giving options and not just telling us to replace the whole furnace or something like that.

I think that they're pretty good. They're not perfect but they do good work. I just have a feeling I could probably find it a little less expensive. I thought that the furnace was very fairly priced and they did a very good job and all of that. I have repeat a service contract with them and every time, I get it in the mail, I think. I think the work that they did was quality and they size it correctly. This was the highest seer available at that point because its a seer 20 and so its a good unit. I did notice a difference in my gas bill.

Description of Work: The last service that Arlington Heating and Cooling performed for us was to arrange air duct cleaning for us from a subcontractor. The crew showed up on schedule, completed their work and left. We are very pleased with their recommendations for the equipment, found their price reasonable, and their workmanship to be excellent. We have used this firm for over thirty years and have never been disappointed. The are not the cheapest people around, but as the old adage goes, "You get what you pay for!" Each service I've had completed has been just like the prior one- very easy, quick and surprisingly not too expensive despite having major work done. The technicians are always very well trained, intelligent and friendly- the type of guys you don't even think twice about having in your house when your wife is there and you are not. The last two A/C units I've had replaced they steered me towards less expensive models that could deliver similar results as the more name brand models. I've been very pleased with them ever since. The last unit I had installed the crew had to remove several small bushes to put the new A/C unit in. When I returned from work I thought a professional landscaping crew had come as the area looked twice as good after there work then before. This was exactly the type of work they did while installing new duct work in the bonus room above my garage- meticulous and very well executed. Overall, I can't think of one negative and would recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: Arlington Heating and Air replaced the second A/C unit at my house today. This was about the 5th major service I've had performed by Arlington Heating at my current house and my prior house including a new furnace, new duct work, new hot water heater and other various smaller items.

I do NOT recommend Arlington Heating and Air Conditioning ("Arlington"). I had had an annual service contract with the company for about 15 years, and, prior to their installation of a ductless heat pump, I would have given the company a good rating, much like the reviews I saw on Angie's List. After my experience with the installation of the heat pump, however, I decided not to renew my service contract with Arlington. Prior to having a porch enclosed, I'd been advised by another heating, ventilation and air conditioning ("HVAC") company to have a pipe installed in a wall so that it would not be necessary to have the condensate and electrical lines run outside the new room to accommodate a heat pump. I had the building contractor install the pipe. And he marked and circled an "x" on the inside wall to indicate where to access the vertical portion of the pipe. The pipe exited the room and extended horizontally about a foot from the house. When the Arlington installers arrived, I told the lead installer about the pipe and showed him where the "x" was before he started. Later, I came to see how he was doing and saw that he had made a hole in the HardiePlank exterior siding and was putting the lines outside the house. I asked him why he was doing that when I had told him to put the lines through the pipe in the wall. He didn't explain, but simply said he could fix things by closing up the hole he had created and put the lines through the pipe. He said that if there were problems in the future, however, an HVAC technician would have to open the wall to investigate, and that I should consider leaving the line as it was. I told him I'd have an access panel installed and directed him to do the job as I had told him to in the beginning. I left him to do as he promised. As it turned out, he didn't open the wall where the "x" was to insert the lines through the pipe. Rather, he opened the wall from where he'd hung the unit (about six feet above the floor) down to the floor, parallel to, and on the opposite side of a beam from where the vertical portion of the pipe is. When he was done, the circled "x" was still visible on the wall, and the exposed area looked as if squirrels had chewed through the wall, since he apparently ripped out the drywall rather than cut it in a straight line. Near the floor, he drilled through the beam, removed the horizontal part of the pipe which exited the wall, breaking off another piece of siding, and routed the lines where the horizontal part of the pipe had been. As installed, air conditioning condensate will drip right next to the foundation rather than a foot away from the house, as it would have had the installer used the pipe. So, whereas there had been no need to cut the siding at all, there are now two places on the exterior, where the siding is sealed with putty and needs to be repaired. And, whereas I'd likely only have had to install an access panel on the inside wall if he had followed directions, I had to have the wall re-drywalled. I later noticed that the installers drilled, and left open, numerous holes in the exterior brick mortar. The holes had been drilled to attach clips to hold wiring to the house, since the wires were to be routed outside the enclosed porch room and back into the house via the garage, where the breaker box is located. The installers, however, had drilled excess holes which extended well beyond the point through which the wiring re-entered through the garage. At one point during the installation, most of the lights on the main floor of the house went dead. I mentioned that to the lead installer and I asked him if he was through working with the electricity. He said he was, and that it was okay to flip the breaker switches to the "on" position. I checked the breaker box, and found that all the switches were in the "on" position. I asked him why the lights didn't work, given that all the switches were on. He said he didn't know and that I'd have to call an electrician. Fortunately, flipping some of the switches back and forth resolved the issue. At the beginning of the job, the lead installer had asked if I could leave the garage door open so he and his partner could easily go in and out of the garage to access the breaker box. I answered in the negative and explained that I didn't leave the garage door open when the garage was unattended because there was a large snake that lived somewhere on the property and I didn't want it to get in. So I left the garage door closed, allowing them to access through the back door to the garage. I don't know what they were thinking, or if they just didn't care, but they left the back door to the garage open rather than open and close it each time they went in the garage. Anyway, the snake had been around for three years and it had never gotten in the house. A few days after they were here, however, I had to have county animal control remove it from the house. About a month after the installation, I asked Arlington why the county hadn't contacted me to set up an inspection. Arlington told me that the heat pump didn't need a permit from the county. When I pointed them to the county website indicating that the first time installation of a heat pump needed to be permitted, they said they would get a permit and sent someone out to get a copy of the survey, which they said they'd need for the permit. When there was still no permit almost two months later, I sent Arlington a certified letter indicating that I would contact the state licensing board if they had not gotten a permit by a stated deadline. They then got a permit, and the installation passed inspection. Arlington was not the cheapest bidder, but I went with them because I had trusted them. I no longer trust them and I don't plan to do business with them again.

I was very impressed by how knowledgable the tech was and how he went out of his way to explain things to me that most techs would not have. Also, it is clear that he has high integrity as he did not upsell me at all even though he had ample opportunity to do so as I asked his opinion on several things. In addition, the communication from the office staff has been incredibly professional and makes working with them easy and pleasant! We couldn't be more pleased with our experiences with Arlington Heating & A/C this summer. We had been using a larger company well-known in the area and every time we had an issue we always felt like they are tacking as many possible repairs to the bill as possible (or strongly encouraging us to upgrade to a brand new unit which we actually did last year in one of our zones!). I've called Arlington Heating & A/C twice on two very hot days this summer and they have responded the same day on both visits even though I was a new customer and did not have a contract with them. Their techs are very capable, incredibly knowledgable (they found mistakes made by my previous vendor), and extremely professional. Most importantly, they have high integrity and I never worry that they are recommending any service that I do not need. It has been an entirely different experience for us altogether. I also want to mention that the customer service is great from the office staff. And last night, when the tech was heading to our house and couldn't get me on my phone, the owner himself reached out to me to ensure we didn't miss each other. I am very impressed by their professionalism and am convinced that this family-owned business is who I want to use for years to come!

Arlington Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. They didn't charge us. When they first came out because our heat stop working in December, it didn't last very long, we woke up realized it and they came right away which is great. They have been servicing our house, we just bought it last year. They have been servicing it for many years prior. They put us on their service plan which we needed to be anyway, so he didn't charge us. Then he came back because there was some part they needed to order. I guess when he got here he was reconfiguring something, I don't understand it, but he didn't charge us for it. The guy was really nice, my husband sat down there with him and he explained everything about our heating system to my husband. He was really friendly and really patient. I think the service plan where they come twice a year and it's like $120 or something it's worth it as the seasons change because you get a priority and they come to you and they change your filters for you and check to make sure that everything is working. It's a pre-emptive to address any problems before your air goes out in the middle of July or you heat goes out in the middle of the winter.

Description of Work: The heat was not working for my Zone 2 upstairs. I had had another technician who could not figure out the problem, so I decided to try someone else and called Arlington Heating & A/C. Steve from Arlington came out the same day and within an hour, diagnosed the problem and fixed it. There was a short a low voltage wiring. He repaired the short, and it worked. The charge to come out was $105, and another $288 to fix the short.
