Ace Handyman

I phoned this company on a Monday for work I wanted done on Friday. The company was very difficult to get in touch with and I was unable to speak with a representative of the company until Tuesday. I stressed that it was very important to me to have the work I needed done to be done that Friday - time sensitive - and if he could not do it I needed to find someone else. I needed a shower re-caulked, some caulking around cables coming into the house from the outside, and a lock replaced. The contractor called me Thursday at 7pm to give me a quote - which was very high in my opinion - $340 + materials estimating approximately $80 ($45-$65 for a lock, $17 for caulking materials) - I did not feel I was being treated honestly. When I asked what the quote would be without the lock replacement, I was told it would still be $340 just for the caulking (even though he said that part of the reason for the $340 was because of the time needed to trave across town to a specialty shop to get a lock and for the gas for said trip). At that point I had little options to contact another company to perform the work the next day, however I was so disappointed in the professionalism of this individual that I opted to not go with his services. I had not checked Angies List before selecting this contractor - I wish I had. I now have an appointment with a recommended contractor from this list tomorrow (Friday) - my deadline. I hope to be able to write a positive review.
