Materials were delivered on schedule, work began on schedule. Installers proved themselves master carpenters, precisely aligning the latticework sheets where they meet at the mid-level horizontal support beam, even though much of the fence was on a slight slope (and so made the alignments not quite square). However, doing this required more time than initially estimated, but by only one workday. Overall effect is finished and very pleasing, just what I wanted. Installers also were thorough and prompt in collecting and removing construction debris. And the project manager recommended a contractor who did a superb job of staining the raw wood to just the color I needed, at a quite reasonable price and with no delay. I'd recommend Ace Deck & Fence to anyone because of their high quality work, attention to detail, and excellent customer service. Truly, one of the best experiences I've ever had with a contractor.

Ace did a wonderful job throughout the process. They sent a rep to our house who helped us work on the design (material, layout, shape) -- we have a dog we wanted to create a closed in area for without making a maze of a fence. We had a rough estimate by the time the rep left and official contract by the morning. The job was started within a week of signing the contract and was complete in one morning. Note that Arlington county contacted us about needing a permit the day before the job was due to start. Ace sent us a comforting note and took care of all matters in time to start the job without delay. We will definitely go back to Ace for further needs and refer them to our network of friends

Ali was our rep and he did an outstanding job. He was there from proposal to completion, made sure we were kept informed, and did everything possible to make sure the job went smoothly. After the work was done, there were a couple small things we needed addressed before the job was absolutely complete, but Ace was happy to take care of them and got it done in a few days. We would definitely recommend using Ace Deck and Fence for any job they can handle. They also do deckwork (obviously) and other work.

I had contractors that promised lower bids for the work, but I liked the reviews of ACE?s quality and so went with them instead. Let me say right off the bat that I?m glad I made that decision. Their estimator came to our house and looked over the yard, took measurements and discussed some options with us. He was very informative and knowledgeable. Once my wife and I knew what we wanted, they were happy to work with us on timing and style and some customization decisions. When the crew came out to put up the fence, they showed up at 7:30 in the morning (on a Saturday) and completed the task by around lunch time. I walked the fence and it was very professionally done. I have a ridiculously sloped yard, and they put in the fence to match the slope and it not only looks great, but is very sturdy and will definetly keep my dogs from getting out. This is where the story gets ridiculously ironic? The day after they put up the fence, we had a powerful storm blow through, knocking out power to many in the area and dropping trees and limbs all over the place. This included one of the trees in the conservation area behind my house, which dropped itself right on a small section of the chain link fence in the back! Not even 24 hrs after the guys finished putting it up. As part of the original contract, ACE was going to charge me to clear out some of the trees and underbrush to put up that portion of the chain link fence. As it was a conservation area, we had to pull the fence in some, and they wound up not having to do any clearing. Naturally, they dropped that part of the bill. Well, with this tree now laying across my bent fence, I contacted ACE and asked if they could come in, cut the tree back and fix the fence. A day later, I cam home from work and found they had already done the work of repairing my fence! I was ecstatic, and called to ask how much for the work. They said no charge. Now, I was going to give them all ?A?s in this review, because the work was high quality and the cost was, although a bit higher, well worth the extra effort they put into the work (from estimates and permitting, to actually erecting the fence)? Now, I wish I could give them A+?s! I have a small deck on my house that I?ll want to expand on some day; ACE will be the first crew I call in.

We had some initial issues with timing, which were eventually resolved. We had to reschedule many times which caused me some additional worries. However, the work did turn out very well. The project was completed on time at a competitive price.

They haven't followed up after the initial call.

It was reasonably priced, they came and built it in an afternoon. They worked very efficiently, showed up on time. After about a month, we started have trouble with the gate - the wind had blown it hard a few times and the screws that kept it attached to its post were coming loose. Finally, about 6 weeks after that, one of the doors for the gate fell off. They came and re-attached it about two weeks later, for no additional charge, and it seems to work fine now.

Good experience from the estimate to the completion of the project. Ali was friendly and knowledgeable and explained the scope of the project fully. Although the price was the highest of all the estimates I received I felt confident with the company based on the Angie's List ratings. The crew came early on a Saturday two weeks later and finished the job quickly and without a mess. Will strongly consider Ace Deck and Fence when it comes time to replace my deck.

Although the estimate didn't directly address the bent fencing that was not ours but shared by our two neighbors, the installers repaired those sections as well. This was above and beyond my expectations. The salesperson, the installation manager, and the site foreman were exceptionally friendly and helpful. I will call them when I'm ready to replace my deck.

after i received a return phone call, Jay came out within days to look at the yard and go over the project details. Received the estimate the next day!

Everything went extremely well. They showed up when they told me they would and were on time every day. Julio, the Supervisor, was very professional as well as Jeff the scheduler. Luis was the installer and he was also very nice and neat on the job. Would definately use Ace Deck and Fence again as well as recommend them to others. Very satisfied with the whole experience.

Very pleased with the overall look and feel of the deck. They were easy to work with and responsive. Answered all questions and cleaned up well after the work was done.

WE MET WITH SEAN FROM ACE DECK IN PERSON AND EXCHANGED MANY EMAILS TRYING TO WORK OUT A DECK PROJECT. ALTHOUGH WE DIDN'T GO FORWARD WITH THE PROJECT I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THE PATIENCE, PROFESSIONALISM AND CUSTOMER SERVICE PROVIDED. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE FOR ANY OF THE SERVICES THEY PROVIDE. THEY ARE FIRST CLASS ALL THE WAY.

Their customer service is excellent. Whenever I contact them they are always available. The follow up for this job was exceptional and they worked very hard to make sure that I was satisfied. I cannot say enough great things about this company. They go beyond the call of duty to make sure the customer is satisified.

Very well. Manny came to do the estimate. Worked with both neighbors on location, cost, and style. Modified estimates to accommodate each neighbors design wishes. Jeff McCormark of Ace called four days before install date (Easter Sunday) to confirm design, date, and delivery of materials. Manny came out two days before to ensure all was ready. Material delivered on Friday afternoon per schedule. Crew arrived at 08:00 AM on Sunday. Discovered cement had not been delivered. Ace obtained missing cement while crew disassembled old fence. Main fence installed very quickly with minimal damage to garden. Very professional team and work. Crew finished around 4PM. Different crew returned on Monday to install 3' fence. Crew chief noted original design would be too unstable. Installed fence posts in concrete. Finished at 2PM on time. Crew removed all debris and swept work area. A job well done. My only suggestion for Ace management is to communicate better among themselves. Estimator could take a few digital pictures and use these to brief crew so that work plan is understood before the crew arrives. Scheduling department should work closely with estimator and crew for time and date accounting for holiday's. A kudos to management - when cement was discovered missing, ACE offered to reschedule but when this option was refused, management team moved quickly to get missing material to work team to stay on schedule.

Ali Farzad came over to provide the estimate. He was hugely professional and prompt. He provided a design via email however, their cost was the highest of three estimates. In addition, the design itself was adequate however, didn't suggest adding a border that would have dropped the price, changed the placement of the stairs and extended the deck to the edge of the house as requested in the walk through. In addition, the company I went with, came in with a fantastic design, that was cheaper and provided more deck space than the other two estimates. By the way, Ali followed up at least twice via phone and email - it was greatly appreciated. My advice would be to come in more competitive on the front end rather than working to reduce the price on the back-end.

They did their work quickly and very professionally, other than one or two boards that were not nailed on, due to a mistake. I called them and they came out and fixed it.

Really liked the company but the vinyl fence is not level. The fence was installed between the driveway pavement and a flagstone walkway -- a somewhat difficult job -- but I am disappointed that the fence is not level. The company was very responsive. They came out again and was willing to try to fix it but I decided it's not worth the trouble.

(02/06/2010) I called Ace Deck & Fence for the estimate and the main office said someone would contact me to look at the damage to the fence. Manny called me and I could not make the first appointment he proposed so we set up an appointment for the following week. I took time off work and waited at home for 40 minutes and no one ever showed up. I called the main office and they said they would have Manny call me back and/or send me an email. No one contacted me. My insurance company has been asking me about the status of the estimate but it has been difficult to get anyone to return a call to move forward UPDATE (03/29/2010) Based on all of the positive reviews here, I went back to Ace and asked them to come out to do an estimate again in March - Manny came and did the estimate 2 days later and sent me a written copy for my insurance company that day (Saturday). They replaced the fence - which required ripping out A LOT of ivy and bad patch jobs on earlier versions of the fence- in 2 days and left the entire area completely clean. Despite the initial miscommunications, I would definitely recommend Ace Deck and Fence.

They were very responsive and came right away. They stated that they couldn't charge me for the repair on the gate and they did the repair for free. I had him look at my fence and drainage problem and they gave me a quote for both. I felt that they were very honest so I gave them a check for half of the work on the fence. He stated that he was going to write a contract for the drainage repair which was major work. He came out with a contract a week later and it was a reasonable price so I signed the contract to start the work. The drainage work took all day to complete and called when they were on their way. They couldn't finish in one day so he came out the next day and also took pictures before and after and let me know what he was doing to repair the drainage problem. Ali Farzad the supervisor was very accommodating and went beyond the call of duty. They also cut down some trees that were not on the contract without charge. They cleaned up after they were completed. He has also followed up through email to make sure the job was working fine.

Outstanding in all categories! Was very impressed with their professionalism of the estimator as well as the installation crew. We plan to put in fencing and a deck in the near future and will definitely go with Ace again. Prices were reasonable and a pleasure to work with. We would definitely recommend them. I absolutely love the fence and driveway gates! I've received a lot of compliments from my neighbors and friends. Due to the angle of the backyard, I had very long driveway gates installed.. Ali explained that they needed to be reinforced with a metal frame to make sure the wooden gates would not buckle from the weight of the wood gate. I was a bit reluctant but in the end it turned out great. I?ve seen other driveway gates without the metal and they are not in very good shape. I also explained that I wanted the gates to swing into the yard so that I could have the gates open from time to time. When the hinges were installed, the gates would not swing back into the yard. Ali was to get someone out to make a custom hinged right there on the property so that the gate would swing all the back into the yard! Ali also went the extra mile in making sure that the work was done accurately and professionally. The workers were amazingly fast and you could tell they took pride in their work. I love Ali's suggestion to the trash can area and gate which is behind the main fence perimeter. From the back yard you can't even see the trash cans which I absolutely love. Once everything was complete, the driveway and single gates looked a bit plain. I called Ali and expressed my concern of the square ness of the gates. Ali suggested curving the tops of the gates and to my surprise (and liking), I came home a couple of days later and it was done. I would definitely recommend Ace Fence and Deck.

This work was part of a major remodeling effort to improve the backyard of our 1923 row house in the Columbia Heights area of DC. We had a total of 12 contractors come out to give us quotes on the deck/fence etc. Ali Farzad of ACE came out a total of 4 times to discuss the design ideas that we wanted to incorporate as well as price etc. We finally choose ACE because their price (not the lowest, but also not the highest) seemed fair. Further, Ali was the most helpful when it came to discussing pros/cons of our design ideas and ACE seemed very experienced with this kind of work. Ali really seemed to enjoy working with us to achieve our design goals for a reasonable price. After we signed the contract ACE took care of designing the plans and obtaining the permits. ACE did the demolition of our existing deck and started rebuilding a beautiful wood deck including a balcony that rests on a massive steel beam. We choose black aluminum balusters to match the black steel design and installed 3 steel beams that frame in the main deck and can be used to hang things (including several shade sails that we installed with ACE). Overall, this was a great experience. Ali was frequently present during the construction and made sure that we were fully satisfied with the results (and we changed a few things during the construction at no cost i.e. the design of the stairs). The pictures probably speak for themselves. We highly recommend ACE if you are looking to design and build a unique deck for a reasonable price.

Old steps and a small landing were rotting away. We decided to replace what was there with something bigger to create a more attractive and useful area. The difficulty was in sizing (off the back door to an addition done 20 years ago, but one used as an entrance by visitors) as anything wider than 5 1/2 ft would requre a variance and delay the work until November, at earliest. The first company we tried did not want the work. With ACE we got a quick reply. Sales rep was very cordial, but was new and so there was some miscommunication on getting the building permit. The work was scheduled, but I realized I needed plans approved that were exact, not approximate, i.e. if I did the drawing they would need to build to my specs. A call to ACE took care of everything. They did the CAD drawing very quickly and took care of the permit so that the work could start as scheduled. Once the crew arrived (number varied from two to four) they worked from mid-morning to late afternoon most days over a week (not including weekend) - even through rain. There was a lot of cutting and piecing of work together because of the non-standard deck size and the railing supports - a lot more work than I expected (I at first thought their price high, but after the number of man hours spent I felt I got a very good deal). Clean up was complete, they even hauled away dirt (Va red clay) dug up for the footers. The only thing I had to do was stain the wood base as we wanted it to resemble the deck itself. I learned always to ask for the details - such as who has permit responsibility as I made assumptions that could have been a real problem if ACE was not so completely ready to take care of County requirements.

Ace was prompt with a competitive estimate and addressed our concerns every step of the way. They had Miss Utility mark location of areas near where they had to dig. I got a call a couple days before materials were to be delivered and the three-man crew was on time and did excellent work. I will say that I made a point of scheduling installation on a day when I would be here to greet them and be sure they got started on the right foot. We went over the drawing, I walked the perimeter and explained a couple of specific needs for placement. The crew chief raised questions with me a couple times in the course of the day to make sure I agreed with gate placement and the shape of the pickets. They cleaned up after themselves and a supervisor stopped by at the end of the job while the crew was nearing completion to make sure he and I were both happy with the final product. I am very pleased and will use this company again.
