Ace Deck & Fence

I obtained the name of this company from Angie's List and contacted it by email. The response from Ali, one of the owners, was quick and we set up a time to meet. When we met I described the project which I had not completely developed and it was very apparent from the beginning that Ali listened and offered suggestions which reflected his experience and understanding of the materials and the setting involved. He also knew DC regulations and informed me of what requirements there were in the various segments of this project. We agreed that the project would involve several options, with the relevant cost for each attached, so I could have a clear idea of how much each option would cost. He provided the proposal with the options and the costs in a week and I discussed how I wanted to proceed. He was very agreeable and work began a few days after I sent in the contract. The patio flagstone work was completed in about 4-5 days and the deck was completed in one day. All trash and leftovers were removed and the site was left in a clean and user ready condition. Throughout the process, the construction team was excellent - they obviously knew how to work with their material and were very conscientious about doing the job well and doing it according to plan. They started each day early and finished around 4:30. They were very respectful and, what was impressive, was their pride in their work. They worked hard throughout the hot days and finished each day by cleaning up as much as possible. When there were plants or other objects in the way they asked if they could move it and where it should go. It was reassuring to me that they wanted not only to do a good job but also tried to avoid disturbing my plantings. I appreciated that extra effort. I would recommend this company and its owner, Ali,without hesitation because they are responsive, knowledgeable and easy to talk with. I think the cost reasonable. Without hesitation, I have already shared his name with several friends and neighbors.

I had a great experience with Ace. I contacted them when we were moving into our new house because I knew we needed to get the yard enclosed right away (we have two dogs). Ali came out to do the estimate - was on time and very pleasant to talk to. We went outside, talked about our needs and he went ahead and measured the yard for the fencing materials. We also found out during our home inspection that we were going to need to replace the deck on the house because it wasn't up to code - and we were going to need to move the location of the deck stairs in order to have them within the perimeter of the fence. I spoke to Ali about doing that work as well and he said that although they were backed up on decks for several weeks, he thought that for this size of job, he might be able to squeeze it in with the fencing job. This was on Friday. They arrived the following Monday and stripped down the deck. I had no idea that when Ali said that he might be able to fit it in, he would deliver on it that quickly. They stripped the deck down to the frame in just a few hours and then the next day had the fencing materials delivered and put up almost the entire fence. On Wednesday they had the deck materials delivered and got the floor down on the deck. By Friday evening they were finished. We had both a new fence and a new deck (complete with steps that landed where we needed them to.) And Ali even upgraded some of the deck materials for us with materials he had left over from another job. The work they did was solid, and thorough, and my father (a home builder), took a look at the deck when he saw it and gave it his stamp of approval (which is hard to get). Throughout the entire process Ali was very responsive to my emails and calls, the workers were courteous, and they cleaned up everything behind them. Ali dropped by our house to have me sign the contract on a Friday evening (out of his way) because it was more convenient for me (with a new baby). They even sent someone over to the house to collect the balance of our payment so I didn't have to drive it over to their offices. I would highly recommend Ace for anyone's deck and fencing needs and would happily use them again in the future.

Extremely satisfied with this company. Ali was very thorough during the estimate process and highlighted deficiencies in the construction of the current deck that other companies missed during their initial visit. Work was accomplished in a timely manner and the crew left the worksite clean each day and after the project was complete. The deck looks great. I would highly recommend this company to those needing any type of work on their deck. Good customer service is rare these days. In my opinion, ACE Deck is the exception to the rule!

Called Ace Deck & Fence based on their reviews on Angie's List. Got an immediate response and the owner, Ali, was more than willing to accommodate my schedule to meet, take measurements, and prepare an estimate. He arrived exactly on time on the day we schedule. He was friendly and courteous He took measurements and the entire process probably took 15 minutes. I received an estimate the next day which included a diagram of the new fence. The price was reasonable and I agreed to have Ace Deck & Fence perform the work. Once I obtained the necessary permit, we scheduled a day for Ace Deck & Fence to tear down the old fence and install the new one. On the scheduled day, the crew arrived on time and began work immediately. I went to work and when I came home I had a new, professional looking, well-made fence. All in all, the experience was great and Ace Deck & Fence made the entire process painless. I would definitely use them again in the future or recommend them to my neighbors.

Ace Deck and Fence were top-notch and the project was completed in a timely and cost-effective fashion. Ali took the time to walk through several options with me, and he explained the various types of materials I could choose from. The estimate was extremely detailed and the cost was exactly as expected for the work being performed. The majority of the deck was removed and replaced with Timbertech PVC Radiance rails. It looks stunning and has completely changed my property. The lower level was completely gutted. Ali and his team removed my old fencing. They added new pressure treated pine fence and a gate. I also had the entire patio covered in flagstone. The patio area looks absolutely awesome and I have received numerous compliments from neighbors, friends, and family. I am working with Ali to add a few additional features. Overall, Ace Deck and Fence was totally dependable and performed the work exactly to specifications. I was out-of-town on an extended work project during all the construction (which took about 2-3 weeks) and Ali was constantly in touch with me and provided updates on the status of materials and construction. I highly recommend Ali and his team for your deck and patio needs.

I had an appointment to get an estimate for a wooden fence between 4:00-5:00pm. At 5:20pm, Ali called and said that he was stuck in traffic and would be about 20 minutes late. He never showed up nor did we hear back from him that evening. I later got emails from him with all kinds of excuses. He said the traffic was really bad (hello- it is NOVA, the traffic is always bad here at rush hour), he said he tried calling again (there was no record of a missed call on my cell phone and he didn't call the other number which he called earlier). They offered to come out this weekend to do the estimate, but I declined their offer as they are obviously not dependable, and I didn't want to spend my weekend sitting around waiting for them to come or not. The bottom line is that we waited for them for hours and they never showed up.

The work was fantastically done, and very quickly. They had given us an estimated start date of May 1st, but were able to start a couple days before and finished the project in three days. We then added extra brush clearing to the contract and that was done in two days. All the work was finished in time for us to have a Cinco de Mayo BBQ in our newly enclosed back yard. We have two dogs, and part of the need for the fence was to allow them free reign of the back yard. I delayed on the review process until they had enough time out there to search out any weak spots or holes, and they have found none in the last month and change, so I feel very good about the work that Ace did on our property I definitely recommend them, as they were able to build the fence for slightly more than we had established it would cost us to do it ourselves (including hauling, materials, etc) with far superior materials than we had planned to get at Home Despot or Lowe's. They asked us to pull the DCRA Post Card Permit ($38) which was something we would have had to do either way. They gave us a warranty on labor and craftsmanship for 1 year. The only caveat is that they were a little difficult to get a hold of on the phone on the weekends. However, they responded to every email within a short time frame, and I would just have to say that e-mail is probably a better way to contact them than the phone, which is nice because it also gives both sides a paper trail as to what was actually discussed. Overall I would wholeheartedly recommend Ace Deck & Fence, LLC for your fencing needs.

I got quotes from four companies and without doubt Ali came across as exceptionally knowledgeable about his subject. He was a pleasure to work with from start to finish and nothing was too much trouble. The work was done to a very high standard and we were thrilled with the results. The VA code aluminum pool fence was a complicated project due to differences in height of the land and a rather unusual shape of the area to be fenced. Ali had a vision of how this would work from the start and he was 100% right. There were a few minors things that we wanted to be changed and Ali arranged for this to be done very graciously and promptly. I cannot recommend Ali and all the workmen who came here (especially Rudi) highly enough and would be very happy to work with them all again. Make sure you get the right Ace Deck and Fence. There is another company with virtually the same name and they might be great but I can only vouch for Ace Deck and Fencing LLC (the original) .

Ali is great to work with. We had an issue with the motor that opens our gate. Ace promptly came out to determine what the issue was, ordered us the new parts, and got them installed. Because we ended up waiting a while for the parts to come in, they didn't charge us for the labor. They even came out in the pouring rain to get the job done. I haven't gotten the invoice for the parts yet, so I put $0.00 for the amount. We will always call Ace when we need help with our fences! They are wonderful to work with.

I called and left a message after reading positive List reviews. Then I wrote an e-mail. Ali was very responsive over email and scheduled a time to look at our back yard. He spoke with my husband an me about options and sent us a proposal for two variations by that evening including a schematic. The team took care of permitting and then Ali drove by to get our signature on the permit before they began work. He estimated that the team would be there at the end of the week. Instead they arrived on Monday. We were not in an particular rush so a two day "delay" was a non issue. The team arrived at our house at 7 am and had finished and cleaned up by 2pm. They were fast and efficient and seemed to work well together. This weekend we had time to inspect the job. We are happy with the aesthetics overall. The gate is not at a 180 degree angle with the house but it's in good working order. We did fine some debris from the Previous fence and some greenery that were not hauled away. We put those items together for trash removal on our own. We have very high standards and despite the minor items I mentioned in this paragraph, we are very satisfied. Ali and his team were a pleasure to work with.

Fantastic job. One of the owners, Ali, came for the estimate and was clearly professional, well informed, had lots of photos of previous jobs for us to review, and filled with good advice for this relatively small job. Within a day or so, Ali emailed a very professionally rendered drawing showing all aspects of the project, including the septic lines and drainage pipes they needed to avoid. We had two other estimates. One was about $300 cheaper, but we did not get the same sense of quality from this supplier, despite their good reviews; their drawing, for example, was crudely hand drawn. The other estimate was for nearly $300 more, but was a handyman recommended by a prior contractor who did not inspire confidence since fence work was not his main focus. Ali's professional drawing and comprehensive agreement came in handy when it came time to get HOA approval -- which sailed through. We scheduled the job within a couple of weeks and they arrive bright and early on the agreed upon day. Rudy, the foreman for the job, was friendly, efficient, careful, and hard-working, as was his assistant. They had the project done in 5 hours, completely solid and well crafted (I will have to sand down some of the cuts they made to get the arched look on the pickets, but that's minor). The doors not only work very well, but Ace makes them wider than others do, which will make it easier to get items like our mower through the door. Ali even pointed out that the kind of nails they use are rust-proof. Everything was left perfectly clean after the job and our dog is sure happy to have a place to run around outside! Great company -- easy to work with, fair, solid craftsmanship. Thumbs up!

The old wooden deck boards were splintering and cracking and needed to be replaced. A roofing company that I used on a prior project suggested a decking contractor that they worked with in the past. His estimate was extremely high. I am a firm believer in getting at least two estimates so I searched on Angie’s List and found Ace Deck and Fence, which received excellent reviews. I arranged for an estimate. The representative arrived on time, explained the scope of the work, provided options and then supplied me with an estimate that was 50% lower than the first contractor’s estimate. I had a deadline for the work to be completed, and Ace Deck and Fence scheduled the work to allow for rain delays (which occurred). The workers were polite, punctual, efficient and cleaned up after the project. I received a follow-up phone call to make sure that everything was to my satisfaction. If I need deck work done in the future then I will stick with my practice of getting two estimates, but I will definitely call Ace Deck and Fence to provide the first estimate.

When our old deck reached the point of no return (ready to collapse), we picked three companies from Angies List and requested estimates. We had not decided on the size or materials for the new deck and sought information and advice from each company. They all responded differently--with different ideas, and different approaches to providing an estimate. One company declined to provide a written proposal, giving me a verbal estimate and promising more detail should we decide to go to contract. Another company provided a confusing, poorly done proposal that did sketch out three alternative configurations for a new deck. Ali was the only one who provided professional, clear, complete drawings, and who seemed willing to listen to our preferences and concerns. We went through several iterations on size and materials, and he was always responsive and helpful in explaining the options. We ended up going with a smaller deck that seemed better suited to our lifestyle, in maintenance free materials. The construction team was great--they worked extremely hard and were excellent craftsmen. There were a couple of small glitches in getting parts from the supplier, none of which amounted to much delay or impact on the outcome of the project. Ali came at the end of the project to install some pieces of PVC to patch our old vinyl siding where the old deck had been attached, and to supervise the loading of what turned out to be a very full dumpster of the old deckpieces and construction debris. The finished deck is very beautiful, well constructed, and a big asset to our home. We would highly recommend Ace Decks for future work.

I left a message for this company on 3/21/2012. I never heard back from them. I ended up finding another contractor not on Angies List.

Since Ace had several good reviews and has done work in my new neighborhood, I was hoping to talk with them. Unfortunately I have now contracted with another company due to unresponsiveness.

I would highly recommend Ace Deck & Fence LLC. My husband and I are very pleased with the fence and driveway gates that they installed for our DC rowhouse. From the first contact, Ali was friendly, professional, and responsive. After inspecting the work area at our home, he prepared a thorough proposal and a detailed contract; it was clear from the outset what materials would be used and the breakdown of costs. Ali kept us informed at each stage of the pre-installation process, and his team met the time frame that had been proposed for completion of the job. After the work was substantially completed, my husband and I asked Ali to make certain adjustments to one of the sides of the fence and a driveway gate post (there appeared to have been a misunderstanding as to a couple of aspects of the job). Ali immediately scheduled a time to discuss the adjustments with us, and had his crew return the very next day to make the changes. The adjustments involved a few hours of labor and additional materials; however, Ali never once balked at doing this work. He was totally professional, and clearly eager to make certain that we were satisfied with the final project. We are extremely pleased with our completed fence and driveway gates. Ali and his team use quality materials and do fantastic work. We would certainly use Ace Deck & Fence LLC again, and highly recommended them to others.

Everything looks great! I am very pleased with their service and their attention to detail when I wanted to move, replace or adjust something. Ali and his staff are very kind. Unlike many other contractors who promised quotes but never delivered, Ali delivered his quotes in a very timely manner. There were times when he couldn't deliver what he promised (a revised quote/adjusted quote) in the time frame he promised, but he got in touch with me to let me know that he was backed up. When the weather prevented the men from working, again Ali called/emailed to give me updates. While you want for your project to be completed as soon as possible, sometimes things happen and what is most important and helpful is to be communicated with so that expectations can be adjusted. I highly recommend them and would use them again.

From start to finish, Ali and his team did an outstanding and professional job building my new fence. Ali came on Tuesday morning, Jan 17th to perform the measurements and discuss options. By that same afternoon, he had emailed me the proposal and a professional graphic of exactly what we had discussed. After some easy and fair negotiations the following day, Ali sent me the updated paperwork and contract which I reviewed, signed and sent back. The building materials were delivered on Thursday. And even with the recent snow and ice, Ali's team arrived on time Sunday morning, Jan 22nd and the fence was complete by early afternoon. The work was done quickly, professionally, and the result was outstanding! When they were done building, the team cleaned up so well that except for leaving behind a beautiful new fence, I wouldn't have known they were there. It only took 5 days from initial measurement to completion!! Now I need to get some deck work done and I will definitely call Ali and his team. I highly recommend them!!

Had a great experience with Ali and his team. He was very responsive and the team did a great job-the deck and porch look wonderful. I got two price quotes and Ace's was lower and more thorough. I am very pleased with the result.

I think the quality of work was great. They were prompt and efficient. They basically did the whole thing in half a day. The work was done exactly as specified. They were just very professional. I think Ali was the guy that came and laid out the options. I'm actually very pleased.

We wanted a new composite deck at the back of our house. We used Angie's List to locate the top 3 deck installers in the area based on reviews and ratings. I made appointments to meet with each representative. I asked for a formal bid and made a decision based on design, materials and pricing. During the process, I worked directly wth Ali Farzan who was the rep that put together the design and pricing. He is also the owner of the company. When I talked to Ali, I can tell he was knowledgable about deck (size, material, design). All three companies made competitive bids for the job but I was comfortable going with Ace Deck due to my interactions with Ali. I liked their responsiveness and customer-orientated approach. Ali adjusted the design to our liking. One request we made was to have the stairs height be as low as possible between steps to accommodate my mom, who has mobility issues. Ali took this into account. I also wanted a customized octagon added to deck from a picture I saw online. Ali incorporate both items into our final design. The company also took care of all paperwork with the County (building permit, inspections) from start to finish. The crew arrived early and stay late every day on the job. They were very respectiveful of my property and worked deligently. The head carpenter had great workmanship. He was very meticulous in every phase of the installation. Along the way, we saw things we wanted to change/add. We switched the location of the pergola to other side of deck for more privacy. We had a last minute request to build a holding tray (for drinks/coffee) on top of our planters and the company delivered. The crew was flexible enough to accommodate us on the fly. Ali checked on us along the way to make sure we were happy wth the product. The deck turned out to be exactly what we wanted and more.! It is a stunning outdoors space for my family. Our friends and neighbors gave us rave reviews. This is a wonderful addition to my house and will help with resale value in the future. Overall, I would recommend Ace Deck. They have delivered on our dream deck and were great to work with. We are very happy with the final product.

Ali met with me to discuss what I wanted for the new deck. He explained the different options for materials. He helped design the new deck and his team built the beautiful deck to replace our old one. They were very professional and delivered the promised services on time. Ali was very attentive and ensured all the details were taken care of and followed up as necessary. We have received many compliments on the new Timbertech XLM deck and look forward to enjoying it for many years. I would definitely recommend Ace Deck and Fence.

Our experience with Ace Deck was fantastic. Ali came over when he said he would, took measurements and looked at our ideas, then got back to us quickly with quotes and more ideas. He gave us several options, then was willing to negotiate when we settled on the most extensive project. Construction started within a few weeks, and with the exception of a week lost to rain, things progressed smoothly. When the weather finally got better, his employees were there again. On a Saturday. Then a Sunday. And they proceeded to get the job done, with an exceptional level of quality and professionalism. When we didn't like the original hardware they selected, Ali immediately exchanged it for something we did like, at no additional cost. They weren't the lowest quote we got (but not nearly the highest), but they were the most receptive, and turned out to be one of the best contractors we've ever worked with.

Ali and his team are very professional, and handled everything from permits to post construction clean up. Ali has amazing design ideas, resulting in a better outcome that I had imagined. My only minor complaint was the timeframe for completion kept being communicated as "1 more day" and that stretched across many days. But considering earthquake, hurricane, DC permit delays, and material backorders, I'm thankful it finished as quickly as it did.
