Ace Deck & Fence

Ali, the owner came out soon after contact and provided an estimate. The gate had to be ordered to custom specifications. Once it arrived the company quickly began work on the installation. After installation there was a period of time that the cement for the poles had to set before the final stage and while the owner had a trip planned to Poland he reamined in email contact and finalized all the work as agreed and on time when he returned. He made special trips out to help us when we needed the gate opened for other workers and we were traveling. The company also had a special part made to assure that our small dog could not escape under one part of the fence - due to the shape of the sloped driveway for the gate to be level one are had a small space under it and the dog might have been able to slip out. No problem - custom piece made. HIghly satisfied with the service and responsiveneed. Excellent company to work with.

The project proceeded very well. We were a small project that he was able to squeeze among larger projects. Because of this it took a little longer than expected to complete as there were a few lapsed days in the middle when the workmen were needed at another project. The workers were excellent craftsmen, very polite and professional, always cleaning up at the end of the day. The whole team was always very responsive to my questions and requests, including a return visit after completion to fix a spot where boards had separated when drying/aging.

It has been a pleasure working with ACE DECK AND FENCE and I highly recommend them. Ali came out to discuss replacing a deck and small porch/landing with composite materials. He had good suggestions as to what to use and thoroughly explained the whole process from beginning to end. The deck turned out great, but I was a little disappointed in the porch. It ended up being narrower than the old one. I didn't realize that by using composite, the railing had to be on the inside of the porch, not on the outside, like the old pressure treated one had been. Ali understood and along with Hernan, came up with a solution. . . part of the porch was taken apart, made wider and put the railing back on. I now have a porch that is almost a foot wider and is perfect. ACE DECK AND FENCE care really about their clients and want them to be happy and it shows in the way they treat them.

Short version: I would use Ace Deck and Fence again in a heartbeat. Ali and his crew were professional, prompt, and courteous. From estimate to job completion, we were extremely satisfied. Our old fence was leaning badly in part because previous owners had failed to build a retaining wall where one was needed, and the fence was effectively doing that job. Ali was honest that he could build a new fence in the old one's place for less money, but that we would very soon experience the same problem. He clearly explained pros and cons of our various options, from type of fence to materials, and was also prompt in providing his bid for services. We found his prices to be very reasonable as compared with other bids -- from companies whom, may I add, did NOT detect or share the obvious retaining wall issue with us. Angelika at Ace's office was extremely responsive and helpful as well, including in obtaining permits, as well as working with us when we hit a snag with some neighbors. The crew was very professional from start to finish, and also did a great job of cleaning up the lot after the job was complete -- important to us with two young children and two dogs. I would recommend Ali and Ace to everyone, and actually intend to call them again soon for another smaller project.

Mostly, this was an excellent experience. I set up the appointment for 8:00 am so that my husband could also be here, but the afternoon before I was told that he would arrive closer to 9, nullifying the whole thing. He called close to 9, telling me he was almost there, and he arrived just after 9. I know that traffic is bad here, but I was disappointed in the late arrival. That said, he had plenty of material to show me, listened to my questions and gave me straightforward answers. It took over a week to get the estimate. Ultimately, I cannot speak to their product as we ended up deciding not to replace our fence at this time, but I would certainly recommend them to friends and clients who are in need of fencing or deck work.

We were extremely pleased with Ace from the very beginning. Ali was responsive and came out to provide a quote in a timely fashion. He was honest, knowledgable and didn't try to up-sell us at all. Ali provided detailed quotes with clear pricing for 2 different projects at our home. We decided to move forward with the fence project, and Ali and his team were a pleasure to work with. They worked quickly and efficiently building the fence. When contacted after completion about a couple loose boards, they were back quickly to remedy the issue. The fence is beautiful as well! We have plans to proceed with another project with Ace later this year. We have worked with numerous contractors who truly struggle to provide good service combined with good, honest customer service, but Ace has succeeded at perfecting the combination.

I had many warped and split floor boards on my deck and decided to replace them all. The railings (also of pressure treated pine) were in good shape though, so no work was done on them. I wanted the floor planks installed diagonally instead of parallel to the long edge of the deck, which required putting in some extra floor joists. I decided to go with kiln dried pressure treated (KDAT) decking because I could paint on all sides before installing and because putting in composite boards instead would have required masking when it came time to paint the railing. Ace did a good job with the joists (conventional pressure treated not KDAT), but I am not completely happy with the decking. First, I had to buy over 50% more deck boards from Ace than I needed in order to make a minimum order with Ace's supplier of KDAT lumber. There may not have been anything Ace could have done about that, but in my experience wholesalers will often accommodate their good contractor customers in such matters. Second, since KDAT does not shrink like regular pressure treated lumber, the Ace installers told me the boards should be spaced the same as composite deck boards. When installing, Ace used nails to space them (I think 16 penny or ~1/8" spacing). It turns out that in humid or wet climates KDAT can actually expand slightly after exposure to the weather. So after a year or so, the gaps between the deck boards got narrow enough so that in many places small leaves and bits of debris could not fall through. But water still drains, at least for now. Ace should clearly have used a larger plank spacing. Third after a year or two, pine pitch started bleeding through the paint on 6-8 of the deck boards. The bleeding was not Ace's fault, but they could have offered to swap out these boards for new ones, especially since I have 20 unused deck boards in my garage that I had to buy to make the minimum. After a couple years when the deck spacing and pitch problems had become obvious, I emailed Ace. I was told they would not help me and that they no longer installed KDAT lumber.

The installation went great. The crew of three started at 7:30am (even earlier than the 8:00am promised start) and got to work removing old fencing and digging holes. Ali showed up a bit later to finalize the exact locations of corners and gates. Once the specifics were agreed upon he left the crew to get to work (Fredy was in charge). Those three guys worked for 10 straight hours through pouring rain and oppressive heat. My hats off to them. A couple of days later, once the yard had dried up, Fredy came back, cleaned up the yard, and removed the old fencing materials. Overall, we're very pleased with Ali, the crew, and our beautiful fence. My only gripe would be that, when not dealing directly with Ali, office response time is slow and muddled. I understand they're very busy and usually on a job site but an improved admin side would go a long way with prospective clients.

Overall, I had a great experience with this company. Ali came out to do the estimate and he was very professional and efficient. He was able to answer some questions I had about structure and installation of the fence as well as city regulations and I liked that he did not try to pressure me to consider more ornate designs since I told him I wanted something very simple. He had the estimates to me within a few days which included an Angie's list discount and was by far the best price we were quoted for the product we wanted. Angelika arranged all the logistics with me via email and all of the permitting and utilities marking went very smoothly. She was also able to work around my schedule for installation, which was really helpful. The installers arrived pretty early in the morning on the day I expected them and they got all the work done by early-afternoon. I had some herbs and tomatoes growing right along where the fence was to be installed and the workers were very careful to minimize any damage to the plants. The only problem I ran into was that about a month after the fence was installed, I noticed a couple spots in the welding with some rust. I contacted Angelika, who was very responsive as usual, and she had someone come out to fix those spots within the week. The fence looks great and I'm very happy with the end results.

Ace Deck & Fence took out and hauled away our old fence and built a new one. They were Very professional, the work was done at the promised time, although they must be busy this summer because it took a few weeks before they were able to give us am estimate. It was worth the wait; we are very happy with the fence, the price, and the customer service.

Second job with ACE Deck within the last two years. Coordination with this company is excellent. Ali is vey responsive and always concerned about the quality of work. Very satisfied with the end result. Would not hesitate to recommend this company to others seeking a reliable contrator that does a quality job.

The service was excellent and I would definitely use them again. I contacted approximately 4 companies (to include Ace Deck and Fence) for estimates. Ace Deck and Fence had the best price out of all the companies by a considerable amount. The scheduling for the job was easy and I am extremly happy with the fence they installed. Ali was incredibly responsive through the estimate and planning process, responding quickly to the questions I asked. He provided genuine advice, and gave us a very fair and reasonable estimate for the goods. The work was done correctly the first time, inside the estimated times. I would certainly contact Ace again for future work. A+ service.

We signed up for Angie's list because we were tired of dealing with contractors who were no shows. We contacted Ace Deck and Fence for an estimate and set up a two-hour window for an appointment. The only appointment they had available was 5 weeks out, but we just wanted a deck so we agreed. I spoke with a receptionist two days before Ali was supposed to arrive to confirm the place and time. I asked if Ali would be able to come on the earlier side of the window, but said I could be flexible, and she offered to have Ali call me 30 min before he arrived. I agreed that would be helpful. I left work during the middle of the day to meet Ali at my house. I waited at home for two hours with no word from him. I called Ace's home office and they were not able to put me through to him. People have clearly had different experiences than me, but I would never recommend a company that expects me to take two hours out of my workday and then fails to show up. At the very least, Ali could have called.

Ali came to look at the property and provided us with an estimate for the work. Once we agreed to do the work, he was very responsive in helping schedule the work around some landscaping that needed to be completed before the new fence went in. The fence was installed in three days, and looks great. The onsite crew was friendly and informative. The shed is exactly what we were looking for, to store yard tools, etc. He also gave us a proposal for some deck modifications we are considering in the future and we will likely use him for that when the time comes.

The fence turned out perfect! The team that built the fence was super-professional and experienced. They came early and got the job done in about 8 hours. Amazing to see such a huge transformation. They are extremely skilled, friendly and reliable. We are thrilled with the outcome. I highly recommend Ace Deck & Fence!

I contacted Ali for an estimate for a fence replacement. Ali's operation, from scheduling through site visit to turn-around time and details of the estimate, is very professional. Ali took the time to give me some suggestions, including advice on an unrelated issue, and very late the same night sent a detailed, professional estimate with a competitive price. The only reason I did not choose ACE was because I was trying to do a small job at the lowest possible cost. His bid was competitive, and based on our conversation I am confident Ali's firm would have done a quality job. I would recommend you give ACE a try.

Aside from a few bumps, the process went pretty smothly and in a decent time. The porch is strong as a tank, and the workmanship is top notch. I can be a nitpicky homeowner, and Ali and his team worked with me to get the final design and product done just in time for the worst of the mosquito season last year (thank the lord). As expected with pressure treated lumber, there are some parts that may need some work now that the structure has weathered about a year, but the Ace 1 yr. warranty gives me comfort that all will be fixed. All in all, I owuld reccomend Ace for all your porch and deck needs. -BJ

Ali was very responsive from our first contact, to thorough estimates on the work to be performed, through to completion. Ali communicated with us along every step of the way, made excellent recommendations in areas to save money, and provided us with excellent service in fence removal, site preparation, permits processing and the final install. All our work was performed with no oversight by us needed, because if there were questions on anything - Ai communicated with us quickly and often with solution to propose. Ali was very good at trying to squeeze us into his very busy schedule, there were some bumps along the way with communication as to when to expect certain work. I don't think this would ever be a problem with more lead time for getting materials all on order, but Ali was really trying to ensure that it would be usable space before my husband left for a few months for work. Additionally Ali worked with us regarding choosing of materials, advice on both design and materials, and making recommendations with our budget in mind as well as our concerns regarding the back yard being higher than the back door and the drainage problems therein. The service did not stop when the project was done. Ali followed up and tweaked a bit of sticking with the gate and months later came and cleared the drain creating a longer drain off area when the linear drain in the pavers was not draining out. My husband so liked the work that he is decided to have Ali fix our horribly un-level front porch and it's roof that is detaching from the house.

This company is incredibly professional and everyone was so easy to work with. We received several estimates from other companies, and this one was the best value for our money. They also were wiling to pull the city permit, which allowed us to build the fence, and that was incredibly helpful (not all companies will do this work for you.) Ali was always on time for appointments and responded to emails promptly (even over the winter holiday). They explained every step of the process, from the questions about the fence material to even alternative solutions when we hit an unexpected problem (that had to do with our foundation, not their work.) They seem like they're genuinely trying to help you, not get the most money. We really appreciated their honesty, opinion and advice when it came to installing the fence. They are sincere and really want to help you with your house project!

The new fence is beautiful! The gates are very elegant. I've had many compliments from neighbors. This yard went from shabby to elegant in only 4 days. The installation went well and the installers cleaned up the site thoroughly. They were also mindful to keep the yard secure at the end of every work day during the process to keep my pets safe.

Very smooth. Ali came out, carefully measured the yard, listened to what we wanted, and a few weeks later (the delay was b/c we discussed the plan with our absentee neighbors) Rudy and a small team put the fence up in a day. We are very happy with the workmanship, professionalism, and price. If we need a new deck or decide to replace any of the older sections of fence, we will call Ali and Ace.

The final results were awesome! The final product matched the drawings and looks better than we dreamed. Ali was prompt Ito appointments, brought samples of the decking material for review, and brought referrals and pictures of his company's work to the initial meeting. He explained the level of work, permit requirements, and cost options. Customer requested changes were discussed and reasonable costs quoted. Kevin and Pedro were usually very prompt and gave a full day's work, expertly demolished the old porches ,and expertly built the replacement porches and deck. Although the project took a little longer than planned due to weather and slow supply deliveries, the final project was worth the wait!!! Thanks to Ali and Kevin and Pedro!!!! I would definitely use Ace Deck & Fence again!!!!!!

Ali was very professional and drew very detailed plans. He gave me several options that I asked for and broke down the cost for each one. Although he gave me several reasons to tear the deck down ( I had originally planned to just replace the floor boards) there was no pressure and he brought up things that I had not thought of. He was not the cheapest quote, but I liked his professionalism and the time he took to go over the options I had. The team started the job when I was not there (it was Thanksgiving week) and I would have liked to know they were coming. But there was no problem with them being there and they had the deck down by the time I got home. The crew of two worked from morning until it was dark and were very conscientious about cleaning up. The only glitch came when they had to cut out a rotted board on the house and they cut the wires that led to my TV and computer line. Apparently, they didn't know that they had done it and I went about a week thinking I would have to have TV repairmen out. When they did come out they showed me where the cut wire was in my basement. I contacted Ali and he personally came out to look at it and then came back in a few days to put in a new cable and restore my service. I also asked for, and got, Ace to credit me with two weeks of my TV payment. I know that this can happen and that it was an accident, so that is the only negative comment that I would have. I would use Ace again and would recommend them because of their quality of work and willingness to make any glitches right.
