+ -1 moreAA Locksmith (James) re-keyed 8 locks at our new house, including the locks on the new combination keypads that they installed. They reduced the number of keys we needed from about 5 to 2. James also used 2 different key forms so it would be easy to tell them apart. They also installed strike plates where they were missing even though that wasn't part of the original job. The amount charged seemed very reasonable given the amount of work that needed to be done. We also appreciated that they told us to buy the keypads ourselves as we could get them much cheaper than they could provide them. They showed up on time and were very professional in all respects.

+ -1 moreThe new locksmith I eventually used to repair the deadbolt noted that the hole for deadbolt was slightly bigger than the lock. In the months since AA installed the deadbolt late last year, this caused the bolt to slip downward and the parts within the lock to fall out of alignment. AA should have noticed this problem with the hole bring too large for the lock at the time of installation and recommended a different type of lock. The lock that the new locksmith installed has a lip at the bottom of it which prevents the lock from slipping downward in the slightly oversized lock hole. It's hard for me to believe that AA didn't notice this potential problem when they installed the first lock which eventually stopped working. That, combined with their lack of responsiveness and initial rude treatment lead me to not recommend using them unless you're in a serious emergency.
Description of Work: I used AA Locksmith to replace the locks on my front door after my condo was broken into late last year. They did the job quickly and everything seemed fine at the time. The deadbolt portion of the lock started to slowly malfunction earlier this year though and eventually stopped working recently. My experience trying to get AA Locksmith to repair the problem and work with me on a fair and discounted price (given that they had installed the lock less than a year ago) was extremely disappointing. The first person I spoke with (a man) was rude and condescending, and the owner--who I was told to talk to get a discounted price for the repair--did not return my call. I understand that their service us only guaranteed for 90 days but if something hoes wrong with a lock within a year of installation, it's fair to ask for a discount on a service call bc there's a problem with the lock or its installation. My lock was a Schlage (which are typically good locks).

Person who scheduled the service call was very professional, able to accommodate my schedule, and provided accurate pricing information. Overall, good experience. I would use them again.
