+ -1 moreWe've used them for a decade. Our insurance company sent them out here on a broken HVAC the month we moved in. We never used anyone else, we love them. They come out twice a year for maintenance and they fix all of our other stuff when it needs replacement. They're exceptionally reliable, always the lowest price of all estimates, and they show up early to all appointments.

Description of Work: A J MECHANICAL SERVICES provided me with a fairly high estimate to replace my HVAC system. The quote listed minimum details on the installed equipment and it was equipment that they were not even official distributors. I inquired how they calculated that the chosen A/C system was correct for my house and if a load survey was completed. AJ refused to provide basic information about model numbers (only provided part numbers) or how they determined the unit size or if they were official distributors for Carrier. Buyer beware and if you choose AJ, make sure they answer all of your questions.

We are very pleased with their knowledge and how they take the time to explain the problem and the options we have to correct the problem with the estimated cost. AJ Mechanical Services are professional, dependable and extremely trustworthy. We would highly recommend others to use their services.
Description of Work: The Company that I am associated with own forty-three (43) properties and have service plan contracts with AJ Mechanical Services, Inc. on each HVAC unit. Recently, one of our heating systems had a part to go bad. We only had to pay the deductible to replace the bad part. AJ Mechanical Services is very fair with their prices.

+ -1 moreI have had several interactions with AJ Mechanical in the last few months, and all of them have been fantastic. James has fixed AC units on both our rental property and our house, and done a great job. He always arrives on time, calls me to communicate what he's doing, and is perfectly polite and efficient. I have referred him to several friends already. For this latest visit, I called at 7:30 pm on Tuesday, and they were able to come at 7 am on Wednesday. I was so thankful and impressed. The early morning visit was a huge blessing to me, as I was able to make it to work on time. I highly recommend AJ Mechanical!!
Description of Work: Our air conditioner was not cooling the house, so James came out and determined that a connection in the attic was causing the problem. Our house is perfectly cold now!!

+ -1 moreWe had a new AC unit installed by this company through our home warranty. We didn't have a choice as to which company to use because the warranty company picks. The installation price was also reduced because the warranty covered most of it. The one thing I really appreciate is that the wrong unit was ordered by the warranty company and AJ Mechanical was very kind in waiting for the correct unit to be delivered day-of and installing it quickly for us. Then we began having problems with the unit. The AC would just stop working at times. Through the warranty company we had to set up another time for AJ Mechanical to come back out and they did not show up when they said they would. They supposedly made some repairs, but the unit still did not work. At that point we requested a different company to come out because we had lost confidence in AJ Mechanical. Another company was sent out and told us that the welds had not been done correctly on the installation.

Description of Work: AJ Mechanical was referred to us by our warranty company to fix our furnace that stopped working in January. We call them on January 4th which they came out to do an estimate on January 4. Two parts needed, said they would talk with our warranty company for approval and call us back to schedule. No call back on the 5th so we called they said they hadnt heard from warranty company . We then called our warranty company and they said they had sent approval on the 4th to AJ Mechanical. Called AJ back on 5th and they said they had to order a part and once they knew when it would be in, they would call us. Two days with no heat came and went with no call. Called them on Monday 1/9 and AJ said they hadn't Recieved the part yet. Finally on 1/11, a week after having no heat, they called and said they would be out on 1/12 between 10-2:00 to fix it. I took off work that Thursday and at 11:00 Recieved a call while I was in the restroom. Called the number right back and got the techinicians cell voicemail. I then called back 5 minutes later and the techinicians answered. The technician was very rude and unprofessional when speaking to me, told me since I didn't answer the phone ( he was on his way to my house) he wouldn't come today but to reschedule. Mind you, I have at this point been without heat for 7 days in winter because of the runaround AJ has put me through. I then call the office, they say nothing they can do and to reschedule. I asked to speak with the owner and they refused but said he agreed and hung up on me. Needless to say we didn't reschedule and bought the parts and installed them myself. Actually very simple and wish we were never put in touch with such a poorly run company. We made sure our warranty company removed them from their service provider list as well.

+ -1 moreFailed to show up for 2 scheduled appointments! We actually used them last year and it went well. So when our AC died on us again this summer, we called and scheduled an appointment...they never showed up. We wanted to give them another chance, so we called to schedule another appointment, and again... they didn't show. When we called to find out where they were, we were told first that our appointment was actually scheduled on the previous weekend and the technician tried to call. We told them that the contact number was for a cell phone and there were no messages and no missed calls! So then we were told, 'Yeah, we have problems with our scheduling, you should just go with another company.and quot; So I'm not sure if the problem is really with a scheduling department or with someone who is intentionally trying to turn away business, but after 2 weeks with no air conditioning, we're going with another company!

+ -1 moreI was initally referred to AJ Mechanical by HMS Home Warranty 3 years ago. I live in an older condo building and quickly learned that many companies do not service high rise condominium units. However, AJ Mechanical was very accomodating and willing to do the work right away. They were punctual, extremely professional, and did an excellent job. They serviced my a/c unit, which wasn't working at all, so that I at least had some airflow until the replacement part that was needed could be ordered. They came back within 48 hours with the new part and replaced it. When I purchased my home, the initial home inspection showed that my a/c unit would need to be replaced. Two years ago, when my unit went out completely, I immediately called AJ Mech. They ordered the new unit, worked with me and my home insurance company regarding the payment, and replaced the unit. They have always beeen pleasant and extremely customer service oriented. I have recommended AJ Mechanical to several friends, and would not hesitate to do it again.
Description of Work: AJ Mechanical has helped me several times over a three year span. I had an old unit that was eventually replaced with a new one. 1.) Service of the old a/c unit. 2.) Replacement of parts for the old unit. 3.) Replacement of the entire unit.

+ 0 moreThis was one of the worst experiences I have had with a service company. The technician walked in, let my dog out, did not say hello and just asked me where the heater was. He came back upstairs after looking at the unit and in a very accusatory manner told me that someone had worked on the unit recently and installed a part incorrectly. I have a home warranty and they only pay for normal wear and tear. I knew that no one had worked on the unit in at least 3 years. He insisted that someone had worked on it recently. I asked for his supervisors name and he smugly said "me" and walked away with a smirk on his face. He then proceeded to lie to the home warranty company by saying that the dogs had chewed wires. I had a second opinion and they told me the problem was that the unit is old and there were NO chewed wires and NOTHING installed incorrectly. Because of this, I had to wait another day in December to have someone look at the heater. Do NOT use this company! It was a horrible experience.
Description of Work: Due to the rudeness of the technician, we never even got that far.
