A Cleaning Service

Very thorough job and an extremely nice crew. I specifically requested that the same crew take responsiblity for cleaning my house and the owner, Beatriz, was happy to oblige.

Prior to the first visit, I spent quite a bit of time going over all of the details with a company representative. I was very specific that I wanted only natural cleaners as I have a 3-month-old baby and she explained that she makes some of the cleaning products that her cleaners use, buys Seventh Generation products and that they use water and vinegar ? on and on she went and said that the company was capable of providing these types of products. Additionally, I was extremely specific that in regards to the kitchen and the upstairs bath where we have a newly refinished tub with new clear glass shower doors, that no abrasives were to be used as it would void our warranty. We agreed that I would leave out Tilex for the showers (the only non-organic product I wanted used), organic wood cleaner for the furniture and stainless steel cleaner for the kitchen. The rest would be provided by the company. Originally we planned for the first cleaning to take place when no one was at home. On the day of the first cleaning, my husband wound up being at home to take care of our daughter. The cleaners showed up with non-organic products for the cleaning. Had my husband not stopped them they would have used Comet on the tub, which is very abrasive, voiding our warranty on the finish. The cleaners could not read the labels on the products we left out as they spoke no English so my husband had to demonstrate for them what each was for. I am unclear on how this would have worked had he not been there to show them since they could not read that the furniture polish was for furniture. Again, this was the system we had agreed to prior to them arriving, so this was not thought out by the company very well. Additionally, they showed up with no way to clean the bathrooms and we had to give them our kitchen sponges to use as well as our glass cleaner. My husband also noted that they were extremely rough when cleaning upstairs ? lots of banging (which turned out to be their vacuums against our bedroom furniture legs which are now dinged up). And, nothing was put back in its proper place. My desk looked like a hurricane had blown through and I?m extremely neat ? there?s not a lot on there to put back but somehow they managed to mess it all up. Downstairs, paperwork was left all over the top of our gas range instead of being put back on the counter where it was originally. I spent a fair amount of time after the cleaning straightening pictures which were all crooked after dusting (at least they dusted, I guess), moving trash cans so the openings faced the front and putting table lamps back in the center of end tables/nightstands. Who doesn?t know to center a light on the table? Much of what was out of place could have been avoided with the use of common sense. We have literally no clutter and they managed to screw up the placement of what little we have out. They literally just threw everything back onto the table after dusting. Very, very poor attention to detail and disregard for our belongings. The whole point of hiring a cleaning service is to reduce the amount of work and to lighten our load. If I have to constantly worry that cleaners are wrecking my house using the wrong cleaners and generally being abusive to my very nice things, it?s not worth it. I did speak to the company owner about this and while she was very apologetic and attributed it all to a miscommunication, I?m not sure how I?d ever trust them to clean my house again. I spend a lot of time going over the specifics of the job and if it was miscommunicated, then what was the point of the consult in the first place?

This was a new cleaner for me and I was a little nervous. The company sent a woman who sometimes is accompanied by her husband. I liked and trusted her right away. She is an excellent cleaner, better than the ones I've had before, and also very efficient and fast. She also does specific or special jobs whenever I ask, and has worked with me to help me organize my apartment. She also has worked extra time on several days and wouldn't accept a tip. I think this is an excellent company. The workers are insured and bonded; they show up on time, work quickly, and are very nice. The woman who cleans for me has been with the company for many years--always a good sign. Beatriz, the owner, is flexible and works with me when the cleaning times need to be changed. I have referred several friends to her and they were very pleased. Highly recommended.

I found her listing on Angie's List. Beatriz got back to me in 24 hours and returned all calls within 1-2 hours. She answered all my questions and was courteous and polite. She quoted me $150 for the initial deep clean and then $95 for a bi-weekly cleaning fee. Beatriz asked me if I had preferences for English/Spanish speaking staff. I let her know my husband was fluent and we were comfortable either way. She let us know that Wednesday was Arlington, VA day and that they cleaned all houses in Arlington on that day. The two ladies she sent were sweet, very respectful and discreet. My husband I worked from home that day and they were both quite respectful of that and tried to stay out of way when we ate lunch at home. Overall...they missed a few corners here and there, but the house didn't have that musty smell anymore. it smelled like a really clean home and the floors felt wonderful on my bare feet. We have a lot of dust in our neighborhood so it always feels a bit yucky after a while. Also...my husband noticed that for the deep clean, they moved furniture...lifted rugs and got high up on the shelves and picture railings. We called Beatriz back and set up a bi-weekly schedule with these lovely ladies. Beatriz asked that we provide a key and let us set up payment with a standing credit card on file so we never have to worry about it.

A Cleaning Service continues to provide the very best professional cleaning service to our organization. The owner takes personal responsibility to provide quality control and oversight as well as providing the best price for the services performed. The vendor also employs individuals with developmental disabilities which is a service to them and the community at large. Our staff is very pleased with the service and quality of work provided by A Cleaning Service. We highly recommend A Cleaning Service not only for your residential housekeeping needs, but also your commercial office needs. I have used A Cleaning Service in my home for two years now and will continue to use this company. The employees are responsive to our needs. In fact, we still have the same crew that started two years ago. Not many companies can claim such loyalty in the cleaning business. The are always professional and provide top of the line residential cleaning.

They are great. I started using them after a bad expereince with another company. I continue to use them today. They show up when scheduled and are reasonable priced.

A Cleaning does a terrific job! I've used this service for exactly 20 years now, since Bia and a friend of hers bought it out from the man who hired them. Bia is fantastic, and very responsive to any requests (such as using or not using specific cleaning products) or concerns (4 or so minor breakage issues over the 20 years I've used A Cleaning). I especially like that it's the same crew who comes each time. Over the years, I've seen very little turn-over among A Cleaning's staff. I like that Bia knows and treats them well; she's not just hiring day laborers unknown to her or me. The results are outstanding, and the value is unbeatable among cleaning services. One recommendation I would make to others -- if you have a problem, discuss it with Bia, not just with the crew. They may or may not understand, but Bia will always make certain that the problem is resolved.

I do not give such negative reviews lightly. I used A Cleaning Service for several years on a bi-weekly basis. In the beginning, I was very happy with the cleaning crew's work in cleaning the first floor of my home (including the master bedroom and bath). In fact, the original cleaning crew went so far as to move and clean under the couch in the family room, cleaning out the coffee pot, and folding laundry left in the laundry basket, all of which impressed me. However, over the past few months, I noticed that the job became increasingly poor. I am home during the cleaning, and during the last several jobs, I did not even hear the vacuum cleaner running. Upon inspection after the 3-person crew left, I had to go behind them and clean the vanity tops in the bathroom (which still had a bit of toothpaste on them), the stove top (which was still completely dirty), the appliances (fingerprints remained), the baseboards, the plantation shutters, the tops of tables, the floors, etc. I could tell they had not vacuumed the carpets, cleaned the baseboards or mopped the floors because I would find dog hair and dirt remaining on these surfaces. In fact, the service had gone from the usual 1 1/2 (or more) hours to approximately 35 minutes! It was really bad. When I contacted Beatriz, she put up a bit of a fuss saying she was unable to change the crews. She continually asked me if I wanted her to send back the same crew that day. I repeatedly told her NOT to send them back. But, about an hour after speaking to her, all of a sudden the 3-person crew walks back into my house (no knocking or doorbell). I had already gone behind them and cleaned everything and they told me they could not see what had not been done (I kept explaining to them that I had done it all myself, but none of them really spoke English). I finally had to talk to someone in the office to get them to leave and to get a new crew assigned. The next time, the new crew spent 2 hours cleaning and did a really nice job, so I continued with them. The second time, however, I found that the shower faucet handle in the master shower had been completely broken off from the inside (when removed you could see that someone had turned the handle to the off position with such force as to crack the plastic inside completely in half). I contacted Beatriz to let her know, and she has refused to take responsibility for it saying that it could have been normal wear and tear. I told her that it worked just fine the evening before they came and then not at all right after they left, but she continues to refuse to take responsibility or pay for it (BTW, it's probably a $10 fix). I have had to send her pictures of the damage (I offered to allow someone from her company to come and look at it, but she did not accept). Given that I have used her services for several years now, it is beyond me why she would doubt me about the circumstances of this incident (none of the people on the crew reported the breakage to me before they left as is their "policy" and I am told they have said it worked fine when they left). I also explained to her that this was not the first incident of breakage or damage (there were 3 others in the past), but I did not report any of them because I assume the risk of that happening when strangers are cleaning my house (in the past I've had to replace a $40 soap dispenser and a $25 glass bowl on a coffee grinder due to breakage and have had to repair furniture damage). In any event, I have now canceled their services. I find the resistance to accepting responsibility and paying for a $10 part to be unacceptable, particularly in light of how long I have used their services. That coupled with the very poor cleaning service of the last crew over a period of time has caused me to seek other services. Whereas I would have recommended their services in the past, I would not do so now. I think good cleaning services are hard to find, but I would skip this one based on the deterioration of the quality of their cleaning services and their very poor customer service.

We have been a client of A Cleaning Service for over the last 15 years and have been overall happy with the service. We recently hit a rough patch for several months as the assigned cleaning crew was late, several no-shows (I had to contact Beatriz to check status), and the actual cleaning appeared very rushed (e.g., lights left on, wet rags left in rooms, doors not left in original position, objects awry). Beatriz was super on addressing the issue and ultimately assigned a new cleaning crew. The current crew (3 ladies) do a wonderful job, get right to work, and are pleasant.. Very happy with the service and Beatriz's customer service and responsiveness.

Needed the whole house cleaned after I moved out and in preparation of my tenants moving in. Overall a very good job. Tenants said they missed the top of the fridge, but the rest of the house was excellent. I don't classify that as a big deal, so plan to use them again. The rest of their work was good. Cleaning included kitchen (fridge and stove), several bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a finished basement, all closets and cabinets. They don't do outside windows, so had to hire a specific company for that. I was out of the country so they were fine dealing with my property manager.

This is the best bang for your buck in regards to professional housekeeping. My crew has been cleaning my home for over six months and I just love them and have referred them to others. They are professional, dilagent, and fast. I love the fact that I never have to verify when they are coming. They show up every two weeks as scheduled. I have tried over 5 cleaning services over the past 3 years and A Cleaning Service is by far the most reliable and best value!!!!! Keep up the good work!!!

Staff was professional and very polite but periodically had to be told to clean forgotten items, e.g., smudged doors, spots on floors; etc. However, they always did what was asked, responded to feedback and finished their work to our satisfaction. At times, staff was late but calls to owner were either not answered or answered late although the cleaning staff told me that they had called her to communicate the delay. Checks were cashed late (3 weeks was typical) and communication with owner was difficult. We decided to suspend the service when we went out of town for a prolonged absence and since returning have found another service.

Good overall, but missed corners and some dusting ledges--doors, small shelves, top of fridge. Didn't move everything.

The service went great. I sent an email asking about rates and coupons, and Beatriz got right back with me and was very courteous and quick to respond. The actual team did a wonderful job cleaning the kitchens and bathrooms. They even went so far as to put some things away (it took me a minute to figure out where my slow cooker had gone)! Again, Beatriz was wonderfully polite and prompt during our email discourse when setting up the appointment and followed up to make sure that I was happy with the services. Update: I have continued to use A Cleaning Service and I love it. They do a good job cleaning and are very responsive.

A Cleaning Service has been very professional and responsive. Our house cleaner Kenia has been delightful to work with. When I raised a concern about something a couple of weeks ago, she came back the following day and redid it at no extra charge, even though I didn't ask her to do that. The price is very reasonable. It's a great company and I highly recommend it.

Beatrix Sampaio, owner, was very responsive to my voice mail message; She provided an estimate, based upon my verbal description of our residence, for service. Additionally, she was able to schedule the initial service within the week of my call, which was unexpected and certainly exceeded my expectations. Our house was cleaned efficiently and very effectively: bathrooms, kitchen, hardwoods, carpeting, furniture and blinds dusting were all completed within the time promised. The house is gleaming. We could not be happier. Thank you!

The 3 immediately went upstairs and proceeded to clean the 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. Once finished they came down to the main level. at this time I went upstairs to look at their work. Everything smelled nice but the baseboards were dustry and the 3 panel doors (all) had not been wiped down - dusty. I spoke to the man who was in charge and he advised they would go back and dust the baseboards and door panels. I asked about the window sills. He questions if I wanted itemes on the window sill and mantl moved so they could dust. I said yes. As I waked into the kitchen, one of the women was coming up from the basement with a mop in her hand. I asked what she was doing. They said she had noticed a mop down there and was bringing it up. I said I had told them not to go downstairs. That the door had been tied shut to avoid anyone going downstaris and that they had been told not to clean downstairs. They acted like they did not understand my words and said she jad seen a mop downther and was going to use it. (The mop was in a bathroom in the back corner of the basemenet behind the laundry room). Anyway, they finished cleaning. The man was an excellent cleaner and appeared to be in charge of the women. The women followig his lead, one better than the other. When finished, I paid by check and the man asked if they should come back in 2 weeks as planned. I said yes (thinking thought disturbed by the basementI I should give them another chance, I did want the house cleaned regulary. Again he adked, should we come back in 2 weeks. Again I said yes on the Saturday. When I went into the house to check on the cleaning I found that when they had gone back and wiped the baseboards and door frames upstairs, being distracted from cleaning the livingroom, the livingroom and dining rooms did not get dusted. I know the wood floor was moped with wood soap, not sure if the rug had been vacuumed and the cushions on the couch were certainly not lifted for vacuuming. After they left and in the week that followed, no one from ACleaningservice called to follow up on the first service. They were expected to return on Saturday May 4 at 11am. We gave up on them at noon and left to 2pm to take care of our business. We had given up our Saturday morning waiting form them. On Sunday we cleaned the entire house ourselves. Frankly, based upon their going into a securely closed basement after telling them mutliple times they were not to clean the basement of go downstairs, I should have realized they had no idea they were in anothers home.

I did speak with Beatriz and at first she didn't believe that the crew left w/o cleaning the baseboards as pointed out, but said she would talk to them and apparently they confirmed. Back and forth on what i had asked for and what was expected for the price, etc etc. She offered me a crew on Monday to complete the work but honestly, it's not worth any of our time to delay and reschedule the cleaning of a 5-minute job. I'll just be doing it myself.

The did a thorough job and are able to accomodate my commings and goings on a complex schedule.

We found them through Angies List. The owner is Beatrice. They are very reasonable. A lot of prices we got were double that and they do a good job. One of the things I appreciate about them is that they come at the same time every week, so for some reason I am at home I can schedule my going out or whatever around it.

started out great, went downhill quickly!!

My husband was at the house when Rose arrived. She stayed for over 4 hours cleaning the upstairs bedrooms, bathrooms and then proceeded to clean the entire main level. She did a phenomenal job. I needed the help recently because I just had a baby and she was able to surpass everything I used to be able to do when I had time. I was thrilled and so was my husband. We will be using this cleaning company from now on. Well worth the money!

I live in a 2-bedroom apartment that I allowed to become rather dirty. It was dusty, the floors had mud on them, rugs had months of debris in them, etc. It was so bad that I wouldn't invite any of my friends to visit. I am out of my apartment early in the morning, and don't return until late at night. I never have the energy or the discipline to clean. It was time to consult some professionals. I decided to try "A Cleaning Service" based on their ratings here on Angie's List. This is the best money I have spent in a very long time! I could smell clean aromas as soon as I entered my floor, and was just blown away when I opened my door. My apartment was spotless! All floors were washed, counters scrubbed, appliances like my microwave were spotless inside and out. In addition to having a dirty apartment, I have a cluttered apartment, with almost every horizontal surface covered with papers, or boxes, or clutter. Well, even this clutter was neatly organized into discrete stacks, carefully done in a way that did not lose any of my important papers and made things look so much nicer. The crew who cleaned my apartment were T-Charles, and Priscila, and they are amazingly fast and **thorough** professionals. I recommend them and this company without any reservation. I will be having them back every other week.

Because they did not respnd to me I will not use them.
