The painters where good. The sales person, Matt, is full of attitude and did not disclose there will be a 3% charge for credit card payments. When confronted Matt, he was full of attitude and had a holier than thou attitude. Too bad how an unprofessional sales person can ruin an otherwise decent experience.

I found Andrew Jones of University Painters on Angie's List when I was looking for a painter. I told him that we were having many other things done to our house, and he assured me that he could do them as well. First thing was the painting. Andrew suggested flat paint for all of the walls, and since I did not know about paint, I agreed. I highly regret it now. I have two young kids, and with flat paint, you cannot scrub marks off of walls. The paint will come off as well. I am also fairly certain, but not positive, that they only applied one coat, rather than the agreed upon two. Next came the carpet. Andrew gave us a great price on the carpet, and once it was installed, I could see why. It was horrible, below builders grade carpet. You can feel the tack strips on the stairs, and I can hear my dog's nails scratch the backing when she runs through the house. Andrew assured us it would last seven years, but when I had a carpet installer come to give an estimate to replace half of our brand new carpet, he said we'd be lucky to get a year out of it. Andrew's installer also became physically confrontational with my husband when asked about the quality of the installation. I hate this carpet so much. Next we had granite installed. They broke one of the pieces, so we had to wait a few extra days- no big deal. But when I came home from work on the day of installation, I saw that they put in a single sink, rather than the double Andrew and I had agreed upon. He told me they didn;t have a double sink that would fit, but it would have been nice if he had told me before they installed it. Maybe I could have found one on my own. The installers also broke a chunk out of my cabinet end panel that I had to fix myself. The counters were not sealed, or at least not well, and I had to do that myself as well. Then they installed the tile backsplash. They used the wrong grout(non sanded rather than sanded), and it is already starting to crack. The caulk in the joint bewteen the countertop and the backsplash turns white and gooey everytime it gets wet, even after nearly two months. Finally, they did the kitchen floor. Andrew strongly recommended luxury vinyl tile, and his guys just glued it onto our existing sheet vinyl. They used the wrong grout again, and also did not seal it. There are huge gaps around the perimeter of the floor, but Andrew said that's okay because the shoe molding would cover those up. In some of the gaps they piled up grout, and some they left empty. They put grout on top of the caulk around the toilet, and it looks absolutely disgusting. I had another flooring company come out to give me an estimate to fix this mess, and she said that in 26 years in this business, she has never seen poorer workmanship. Overall, this project was a disaster. Andrew kept assuring me that he never has problems like this, but I find that hard to believe when every single aspect of this job was done very badly. Now I am left with the cost of replacing the horrible carpet, putting in the right sink, totally redoing the kitchen floor, and probably repainting the entire house. It is emotionally and financially devastating.

Andrew, the regional owner, was prompt, had great communication, and was priced reasonably. His crew was patient, detailed oriented, and very understanding especially when I asked to change colors. I'd highly recommend.

University Painters did an absolutely outstanding job! This is the third time we've used Andrew Jones and his team so we knew to expect outstanding work! The crown molding is perfect -- it makes the ceiling look higher and gives the rooms a beautiful finished look. The master bedroom has never looked better. In addition to quality the workers were quick and professional. Highly recommend them for painting and carpentry.

Andrew and his team were great. They did exactly what I wanted to include some on the fly changes. Quality of work is outstanding and customer satisfaction/service is a priority. We plan to use Universal again in the future.

We signed a contract with Andrew Jones of University Painters to prep and paint the exterior of our house. He was professional and his pricing was very fair. A few weeks later, he sent a crew, headed by Luis, to prep and paint. On Friday, which was to have been the last day, they were forced to stop because of rain. They came back on Saturday to finish. At the end, Luis had us inspect the job with him to make sure everything was done to our satisfaction. He had a real sense of pride about his work, as well as being courteous and polite. Throughout the process, Andrew kept in contact with us to verify that everything was going well. Would highly recommend them.

Andrew Jones' University Painters did an outstanding job. I called Andrew for an estimate and he arrived promptly the next day so we could discuss what needed to be done in person. Other contractors from whom we requested estimates just did a house drive-by and emailed us a proposal -- in one case over a week after we originally requested an estimate. Andrew's paint crew was punctual, efficient, friendly, and entirely professional. The crew was extremely neat and careful not to disturb any flowers, shrubs, siding or brickwork. When the crew finished it was as if they had never been there -- except for the beautifully painter shutters and woodwork on our home. Thank you. Overall, I am very happy with my University Painters experience. Andrew, the regional owner, is very professional and responsive. He gave me the best quote for this work. It must be noted that the work had some unknowns. We started on the assumption that it would be a paint job with the possibility of additional carpentry/wood-replacement work, so it was nice to start at the lower painting price. Notably, other estimates started at $850 and $1500. So I can't imagine what I would have been charged after the other companies discovered the wood rot on my dormer! What may have been a $2000+ job with the other two companies was a $1150 job with University Painters - which was fair in my opinion, given the more-complex carpentry that was required The crew Andrew sent was extremely professional, efficient, clean, and explained their work and materials in wonderful detail. Andrew stayed in the loop as the work was done, touching base with me with each step/decision. Also worth noting is when I became a little nervous about when the project would begin (the dormer was part of an HOA violation that had to be cured by a certain date) and I asked for a firm project date, Andrew sent his crew out the very next day. I really appreciated that. Thank you, Andrew and your crew, for the wonderful job! I will recommend you to others.

Steven and University Painters were great to work with. It was easy to schedule the estimate and we received the estimate almost immediately. Since we were trying to complete the project before we moved into our new house, the time factor was crucial. We got a second estimate from another painter which was significantly more expensive, so that made our decision easy. When we booked them for the job, they got us on the schedule very quickly, and the job was completed quickly as well. When we went to look at the results, there was one problem. The trim in the stairwell had originally been a reddish wood tone that we had painted white. But the original color was still showing through and the white paint looked like it was streaked with pink. When we notified Steven of the issue, he was prompt to respond and the issue got fixed right away. This was my first experience hiring painters and I would definitely use them again.

The project went wel in spite of a couple of rainy days. The crew was very professional, courteous and efficient. Upon final inspection, there were a couple of small things that we wanted re-done and the crew took care of them promptly. Andrew Jones, the manager, constantly checked in with us to make sure the job was progressing well and to alert us to any changes in the crew's arrival due to rain or traffic. We will be doing some interior painting in the next couple of years, and I will definitely call this company.

We put the project on hold so we havnen't gone with them yet. They are very professional, very forthright, very quick, and I felt completely comfortable going with them if I were to go ahead and do the job.

The work Andrew’s team did was great! The crew that showed up to do the work were very courteous and answered any questions I had, and if they did not have an answer they got back in touch with the boss (Andrew) and he got back to me with the answer. The first day was power wash and cleaning and gutter work…painting was delayed because of rain. The second day, they painted and did all the wood work and completed the job. Andrew contacted me the next day and informed me that instead of replacing one gutter, they replaced two…and NOT to worry about it, the second was their mistake and therefore, no charge (you don’t see that much anymore). Next, Andrew came out to visit and collect the rest of my payment. I showed him some deficiencies that I noticed and he apologized and informed me it would be taken care of and told me to hold the payment until they finished. A couple of days later, the second group came out and fixed the deficiencies and even found a couple of more and corrected them. They did a great job! For my painting and handymen/repair work, I would for sure use Andrew again!

Andrew and University Painters are wonderful! We called on short notice as we are having the floors replaced (foyer) and repaired/sanded (living/dining room) -- at the last minute we decided to paint before the floor work. We called Andrew on Saturday, saw him on Sunday, they arrived on Tuesday! That is service! Our house was built in the early 1970s with some less that great workmanship. We had a lot of nail pops -- they carefully inspected all the surfaces to find them all, patched them and created a perfect surface for the paint. We are very impressed as the windows all work this morning -- nothing was painted shut; and we couldn't find any problems with the painted surfaces. You sometimes wonder if it's worth the money to hire someone as opposed to doing it yourself. This is a perfect example of when it is far better to hire the right firm. And they did give us the Angies List discount! We liked them so much we're going to have them come back after the floors and kitchen are completed to paint the new kitchen and the rest of the house. Great exoerience -- everything went well -- i will be using Andrew and his crew again in the near future.

The whole experience from start to finish was a very positive one. Andrew Jones came out quickly for an initial estimate and gave us an estimate that was far superior to the others we received. Andrew, Sergio, and the all of the other people with whom we dealt were always very professional, responsible, and polite. They completed the work expertly and quickly, and took care of any issues that came up promptly. For example, there was a problem with the paint color they used to do some touch-ups on the inside room we had painted (not their fault), and they went out of their way to rectify the problem with no complaint. The only issue, which was relatively minor, was that they did not always arrive at the time (or day, on one occasion) we had been told, and did not always call to notify us of the delay. However, Andrew was always very apologetic once this happened and would take steps to update us whenever we asked. We would absolutely recommend him and his crew to anyone!

Andrew Jones was very responsive to my calls, we went over the estimate so there would not be any surprises on paint day. The crew was polite and professional. There was one problem in their performance where an area along the shingles was over painted. I called Andrew and the supervisor was at my house in 15 minutes and the problem was corrected.

Mixed as of right now. Three day job could not start day 1 due to broken power washer, end of Day 1 power washed house. Day 2 began painting (anyone see a missing step e.g. scraping/sanding). Rained end of Day 2. Day 3 Rain no painting. Day 4 "finished" mid day; no sanding, no scraping, not much prep other than power wash. I inspected, drips on the front doors, garage painted shut one coat primer, one coat finish ( could not open initially), paint drops on flagstones, deck needed a large amount of prep and none was done, some paint washed off in rains since day 3/4. Messy job edging looks not so great; 90% of the job was done well, 10 % *Expletive." Called for recheck have not paid full amount yet. Required 4 calls and "Andrew" still has not come to see the house. Here we are 7 years later and their incredbily THIN amount of paint and their poor workmanship are showing through. Never use the lowest bidder, it is recipe for disaster. I've now gotten a quote for a professional company ( no one that hires sub contractors) who do shoddy work
