Description of Work: Painted the 2nd level of house and replaced rotted wood around two bay windows and the front door portal area. Also, removed garage side door, replaced window in garage, and replaced the siding on the north side of the house where the garage door was removed. Work was done well and Andrew was a pleasure to work with.

Description of Work: Exterior paint front/back all wood trim, colums, shutters and door. Replaced some wood trim where needed to include column, and wood trim around top of chimney. Team was prompt, very professional cleaned up when completed. Everything went very well. I'm very satisfied with the work that University Painters provided. I will definitely be calling them back for future projects.

Description of Work: The outside of my house was pressure washed and some hand washing. The missingg and lose glazing putty was replaced. Caulking was applied where needed and all rotten wood was repaired . All the wood siding on my house, the gutters and downspouts were painted as well as the shutters on the front windows and the long shutters beside the front door. The crew who did the work were very professional and polite. The moved the bench and flower pots off the front porch and replaced them when the painting was completed. They cleaned up the work site and left everything spotless. I am very pleased with job that was done. My house looks beautiful. I would not hesitate to recommend Andrew Jones, University Painters, in Annandale to anyone. I will certainly use this company again .

Description of Work: The company was asked to pressure wash the entire outside of the house and the deck, repair a portion of the door frame to the deck, paint the exterior of the house (mostly soffit and windows and sills), stain the deck and fence and clean the gutters. University supplied the lowest estimate of the companies we contacted, and it soon became apparent why. They did the minimum required, and did a less than adequate job in many respects. First, the supervisor tried to get out of as much work as possible. I had to refer him to the contract and have him call his boss on several ocassions to get him to do what was required. Second, while some work was done well, most notably the repair to the door frame, most work was sloppy with numerous paint and stain drippings allowed to remain all over the property. The gutter was not cleaned properly , and they bent a portion of it with their ladder. Third, the company was not adequately prepared to do the work. They had to borrow tools and equipment from me. For example, they "borrowed" my utility pail. I put this in quotes as they took it with them when they left without my knowledge. Finally, the owner of the company never checked back with me after the work was completed to see if I was satisfied or not. This was very unprofessional. I cannot recommend this company even though they will likely offer a good price. The lack of quality and commitment to the customer outweighs any cost savings.

Description of Work: Overall a very good job, and I would definitely hire them again. Andrew is very professional and customer service oriented. The remainder of this report lists all the minor things I had issues with, but I stress they are minor. Andrew to his credit offerred to fix each and every one unitl I was happy - I just am too busy to call his guys back for such minor stuff. I was impressed that he cared about the details and wanted to not only get it right, but educate his crew on how to do even better. To compensate, he did not charge anything for three windows added after the initial estimate. Price was very reasonable, better than most. I supplied paint frm Home Depot. My advice: be very specific on the use of primer and the number of topcoats - write it all down - it will help you and his crew and leave no room for vague assumptions on anyone's part. Our ceiling was pretty old, and they said they did two coats but to my eye it looked like one - watch the number of coats and pay attention to the amount of paint used so you can be on the same sheet. They put a second coat on no questions asked and it looks great. Andrew's policy is they'll do what it takes to make the customer happy and make it look right after the price is agreed upon. Some minor things I gave for feedback (things I'd want to know if I ran the same crew). Make sure his guys mix the paint thoroughly! Two of the windows painted did not have the nail holes not touched/filled, and looked like only one coat of paint was applied. Not clear if they primed (they needed to prime the old trim paint), Bay window hardware had some paint on it...not very neat, but came right off. Wall repairs (holes/dings) - done very well. Door and trim prep/sanding/repairs - didn't really do any, just painted over the old spots. Two small drips/runs on front door and trim. Not clear whether they primed all the old trim first (glossy old paint) - Line between the walls and ceilings looks great - Line between base trim and walls is hit or miss - looks like one guy was great, one guy not so much. Some overspray/spatter on nickel doorknobs, oak handrail - partially cleaned. Minor - white paint on oak banister top of stairs. No ladder, no drop cloth on day 2 used ours.

Description of Work: I was looking for someone to paint the exterior trim of my house (porch and garage trim). I set the initial appt for the estimate on a Sat with a time of 800 AM. I get a call from the owner a little after 8 telling me he was still 20 plus miles out. As I had other things to do, we rescheduled and Andrew arrived on time. We discussed the work to be done and I thought the price was good, so I gave him a check to secure the time. I told him I would be on travel and would be back on day X. Based on our converstion, I thought someone would be out on Friday, so I left work early on Friday, but nobody showed up. I called Andrew to check on the status of the scheduling of the job and he told me it would be Wed or Thursday of the following week. I again left work early on both days and nobody was there. I gave him an extra day and called on Friday to check on the status. He then told me it was going to be on Saturday. With that answer, I cancelled the job. Based on times set, he failed to show on the times he said he was avail. I would not recommend this company. Based on other reviews I have read by University Painter, I would not recommend this company to anyone. Ken

Description of Work: My experience with University Painters was excellent. Andrew was an excellent and responsive oversight person and Sergio was superb on-sight. UP receives my highest recommendation....and I am picky :)
