They do a prompt and very thorough job. Their bid won't necessarily be the lowest one, but after watching how much work they do, I always think that perhaps they should have charged us more. You would not want to call them when you want something cheap and quick, as Mario Vega, the owner, is resistant to suggestions that they do less than their best work. When you request a quote, Mario: schedules a visit in a day or two, shows up on time, makes useful suggestions, and provides the quote immediately. His quotes include all paint and other materials. Mario uses Duron paints. If, for some reason, you want to specify another brand, you will need to make that very clear before you get the bid, as the price may be higher. I have never had them propose additional charges for any problems they have encountered. Indeed, they seem to look for things that need doing and include them at no additional charge. On this job, for example, when they came to install the drywall on the new walls, they noticed some lengths of new baseboard that were lying in the work area. They asked if we wanted them to install the baseboard and then did so. When they discovered that there was not enough board to finish the job, they went out and bought more. No mention of any additional charge, although the work had not been mentioned in the bid. In my experience: They have always been able to schedule the work to start in a few days They show up when they say they will They bring a large crew and they get through the work quickly They spend the necessary time to do a very thorough job of preparation. For example, when I engaged them to paint the interior of a two-bedroom condo, they put in 120 hours of work on the first day — all on preparation — before they even began to paint. This makes a big difference to the look of the finished job. On this job, they did extensive prep on Thursday and Friday and then showed up with a crew of 13 painters on Saturday and worked until 7 pm to finish the job. They are careful about masking and removing switch plates, fixtures, hardware, etc., rather than painting over them. They do a careful job of cleanup. They always do more than I would have done if I attempted the job myself. Overall, no complaints and a lot of compliments for Mario Vega and Solutions Painting.
Description of Work: I've used Solution Painting for five jobs, totaling about $29,000. They are my first choice for interior and exterior patching (plastering, skim coating, drywalling, etc.), painting and light renovations. We have used them at our house, a rental condo, and a church. This particular job involved Interior renovation of rooms in a 90-year old Quaker meeting house building. The work included patching, skim-coating, and other preparation and painting of walls and ceilings five rooms and two stairwells, including some walls and ceilings in need of extensive repair. The job also involved putting up drywall on four new walls that had already been framed in. One of the stairwells was quite large, with a 22-foot ceiling height.

This particular job was complete interior patching and painting and light renovation of a two-story, two-bedroom, two bath townhouse. Painting included all walls, ceilings, and kitchen cabinets. The job also included replacement of bathroom sinks, faucets, vanities, medicine cabinets, replacement of kitchen counter and faucets, replacement off several light fixtures and about 20 electrical sockets. The arrangement we made was that we would find, purchase, and provide on-site the new vanities, light fixtures, medicine cabinets, sinks, faucets, kitchen counter, etc., and they would tear out the old stuff and install the new. Acquiring all that stuff turns out to be a lot of work, but it saved us quite a bit on the cost. The above price includes all the paint, plaster, and other prepping and patching materials, but does not include our cost of providing the vanities, counter, faucets, etc.

In this particular job, a consultant had recommended that we use a particular Sherwin Williams paint. I gave Mario a list of Sherwin Williams paint colors, but the painters showed up with the equivalent Duron colors. When I made clear that we really had meant to specify the Sherwin Williams paints (not just the colors), they went out and replaced the Duron paints immediately. They seem very committed to producing a satisfied customer. I have never had them propose additional charges for any problems they have encountered. We have used them at our house, a rental condo, and a church. This particular job was exterior painting and repair on a 100-year-old townhouse on Capitol Hill. In addition to prep and painting, the work included patching of some corroded concrete blocks on the garage and repair of some decorative copper trim.
Mario and his team did great work. On top of that, his pricing was the best that we received. He estimated that the work would take 5 days, but his crew worked long days and were able to compress the work into 4 days. They did not take any shortcuts, and as a result, the quality of all the work was impeccable. It is hard to ask for more than that. Without question, we would use Solution Painting again in the future.
Description of Work: Removed wallpaper from a hallway and basement, removed popcorn ceiling in basement and hallway, repaired numerous holes in drywall that were a result of all copper piping in our house being replaced, painted basement including paneling and large bookcase, painted two hallways, painted a bathroom, and painted ceiling in living room.

Workers arrived on time and ready to work! They were very professional and respectful with our possessions. They put a lot of effort into identifying and repairing all nail pops and any cracks to ensure a perfect finish. The owner arrived to ensure a good start and the supervisor took it from there. The owner returned later in the day for quality assurance. The work was finished on time but more importantly they did an excellent job! Would not hesitate to use them again. This company believes in and practices customer service! They cleaned the area (cleaner than when they arrived), moved the furniture back, and even cleaned the windows on the inside (especially appreciated for that impossible to get to foyer window)! We love the results! HIGHLY RECOMMEND SOLUTION PAINTING!
Description of Work: Confident after reading Angie's List reports I contacted Solution Painting. The estimate was reasonable (and less than an estimate from another competitor). We set a date in short order. They painted a high ceiling foyer, high ceiling family room, dining room, laundry room, sunroom, kitchen, powder room, pantry, closet, living room and all of the ceilings (also installed a ceiling medallion). They touched up trim and repaired drywall nailpops/cracks/irregularities.

They did a comprehensive job. They were excellent. Their price was reasonable. They came when they said they were going to come despite the rainy weather that we had this past week. They accomplished the job in a reasonable amount of time. I would certainly recommend them to anybody.
Description of Work: Solution Painting Inc. did the exterior painting for my house on 05/21/2011. They pressure washed the house, the floors, and the deck before painting and they replaced any wood that was rotten.
In just two days, Solution completely transformed my condo. They arrived right on time on Day 1 and immediately began work. They also arrived right on time on Day 2 - leaving my condo clean with all outlet plates, etc. etc, put back in place. I was there on site for perhaps an hour the first morning and then for 15 minutes the second morning -- and 15-30 minutes each evening. Basically, I was able to go to work each day and everything got done exactly the way that I wanted it. During the quote process, I did in general find it to be bit challenging when - like me - you're a new homeowner and have talked with 3-4 other painters and now you're completely confused as to what it will take to get the job done....and you're just new in general to coordinating with contractors. I found Mario to be an extremely honest person who wants to do an excellent job for a reasonable price. If you are a person who always wants someone to tell you what you want to hear, Solution may not be the company for you. If you are a person who wants to collaborate with a professional who might advise you a few things to ensure that you're happy in the end - then trust in a company who knows what they're doing and can deliver results on time and at a reasonable price.
Description of Work: I bought a condo 6 months ago that likely had not been painted in 10 years and - when it was painted 10 years ago - was likely done by the homeowner who seemingly did not prep the walls at all. As an older place, too, there were just many layers of paint on trim and lots of messes (e.g., painting over wallpaper paste) caused by previous homeowners needing to be undone. I hired Solution to paint my living room (vaulted ceiling - 15-20 feet), dining room and two small hallways - using a mix of three different paint colors plus paint all trim and ceilings. Many of the walls needed to be completely skim coated. My ceilings, in addition, needed to be scraped (popcorn texture) and skim coated. Solution also finished off an unfinished dormer window/skylight above my living room.

We originally were considering Solution Painting for our MAJOR home painting job. We recently purchased a house (fixer upper) and had the entire house repainted before moving in. We WOULD have used Solution except for one reason... they couldn't fit in our small window of time (2 weeks) as they had too much business. A good problem, but we kept their name for future work. We would have happily gone with them for the big project (>$15K), but again, we had a very small window to work with. We decided to contact them a month ago for a new project - painting the kitchen cabinets. With our numerous home repairs & improvements, we decided to postpone renovating the kitchen and paint the existing cabinets instead. We assumed it would be a short term fix to an ugly kitchen. Long story short - Solution guys were incredible & our kitchen looks great. It easily added $10K to the value of our home and most importantly, I'm now HAPPY in my kitchen. Plus, the Solution guys did the job RIGHT... they took the cabinet doors off and thoroughly sanded the wood. I am extremely particular about details and I had NO fixes. I cannot say the same about the other vendor that did our house!!! Our neighbors are also truly in awe of the improvement. The kitchen now looks fresh & NEW. In reality, it's just the paint and hardware that made all the difference. We had Solution do the painting & affix the hardware too. Again, we had a small window of time and they met the deadline with true professionalism. Without question, we **wish** we'd used them before and we will certainly use them again... most likely very soon since we are now more inspired (true!). These guys are STRONGLY recommended... for small jobs to big jobs. The crew is great and the home office tries to make the process super smooth too. We are so pleased!!!

WoW! Solution Painting just painted the exterior of my home. My home is a split level and they primed painted both the brick (1st time the brick has been painted) and the new Hardie Plank siding with Azek trim. They did a terrific job. Arrived on the exact date they said they would, worked tirelessly until the job was done, and did an excellent job. We received 3 bids to do the painting and Solution Painting was very aggressively priced. As the old commercial says: “No Runs, No Drips, No Errors.” Amazing attention to detail, didn’t make a mess, cleaned all the surfaces. Owner Mario was excellent, delivered the estimate in person. Mario did an terrific job of explaining what would happen and why we should go with Solution Painting. After reading the Angie’s List reviews, honestly I didn’t think anyone could really be “that” good. Do not hesitate, we are very satisfied customers.

They spent a lot of time touching up drywall imperfections before they began painting. I appreciated this. They did the whole job in one very long day. During inspection we found a spot on the ceiling where an old water stain was still showing through, so they came back the next morning and re-did that section repairing the drywall and then painting. The crew did a great job. It appears to me that they choose the "best way" rather than the "easy way" each time they had a choice. They even painted the ceiling of an adjacent room at no extra charge because they wanted to make sure the ceiling of the hallway and adjacent room matched correctly. I highly recommend them.

When the estimate was conducted, Mario asked me to call his scheduler. I made an appointment and then had to change it a day in advance - this was handled smoothly and I was rescheduled to a date at my convenience. The crew arrived on time at 8 AM, set up quickly, and moved my furniture carefully and efficiently. I had purchased the paint and felt free to leave to pick up another few gallons on both days. On each day, the crew finished at about 7 PM, returning for a half day to paint the last bathroom and finish clean-up. The foreman, Juan, was calmly professional and very easy to work with. The entire crew worked very smoothly throughout the job. They were precise, efficient, polite, accommodating about minor requests, and took great care with moving my furniture (including a grandfather clock), taping, and protecting the floors - a very pleasant experience! Mario assured me at the time of the estimate that all work would be totally professional and beautifully finished - and it truly was! Every square inch was perfectly caulked, smoothly sanded, carefully painted - no stray marks, edging was perfect. An extra bonus was that the crew was extremely thorough about clean-up. Floors were vacuumed, stray spots hand-removed, mirrors cleaned, etc. - My house looks great, thank you, Solutions Painting!
Description of Work: Mario, owner of Solutions Painting, had given me a detailed estimate previously for the following work: Repair drywall from damage caused by a plumbing leak in the LR and DR and a roof leak over a bump-out window in the breakfast room, remove wallpaper from he LR/DR and two bathrooms - caulk, spackle, sand, prime and paint all rooms, trim, and two skylights, and paint two built-in bookcases and a built-in DR cabinet. In addition, they painted the foyer and the upstairs hallway and trim. This job included moving furniture out of the rooms temporarily, and moving it back in after completion. All work was performed over a 2.5 day period.

Mario and his team were very professional. They were prompt and hard working. Mario seemed a bit stressed about doing a good job, but certainly lived up to his claim that he'd do it as many time as needed until we were happy. He repainted any area that was even questionable. His cousin, Manuel, did an very good job putting up mouldings in the basement and rebuilding our bathroom. Mario did not want to collect any money until the job was completely done and we were happy. I'm not sure if I'd have that much confidence and trust, but it's certainly a very commendable way to do business. We would use them again for future jobs.
Description of Work: Painted formal living room, dining room, study, upstairs and downstairs hallways, basement. Put mouldings in the basement, remodeled the bathroom, rebuilt shower, installed all the tile, moved a wall and framed out a sauna.
I am new to Angie's list and was looking for someone to do some exterior painting and minor dry rot repair. After reading reviews on Angie's list for Solution Painting, I emailed them and set up an appointment to get an estimate. Mario arrived on time and we discussed the items that needed to be repaired and painted. He explained how his employees would conduct the repairs, services and painting. He gave me a time frame of three days and gave me an initial estimate of $3400. I mentioned the $100 off coupon on Angie's list and Mario gave me $200 off the estimate. The crew showed up on time and conducted themselves in a professional way. All services were completed in two days and they did an outstanding job! We all worry about not getting our money's worth. With Solution Painting you get your money's worth and more. I will definitely use them in the future!

He is meticulous. He is unbelievable. He is extremely picky with his own work and that is good for the customer. He would not let me pay him unless I liked it. He was willing to walk out without money if I don’t like his work. There were cabinets that were hung wrong and he made those workers to come on Saturday and Sunday to fix them all. Only when they were all fixed did he take his payment. That may be why he has so many more reports than everybody else. I have got estimates from him and another company for additional work and I think I will have to go back to him because the other company is higher.
Description of Work: Solution Painting Inc did interior painting. He did kitchen cabinets, fire place, family room, 2 bedrooms, foyer, hallway, stairway, ceiling, and trims.
They came and did an estimate, Constructed and installed doors. Because I was not in a hurry to get the drywall done, they would come at the end of the day, whenever they had time to work on it. The results were excellent.
Description of Work: They built and installed doors on three closets and completely drywalled a 24 X 20 addition. They come when they say they will, do excellent work and really are willing to work with you to get the job done. I would hire them again in a heartbeat.

Mario was very efficient in working up estimate. The crew arrived when scheduled and worked three days. They were extremely professional, skilled, and detailed in their preparation work. and painted the house with a primer and two finish coats. They were very careful cutting in, cleaning up and leaving no paint where it did not belong. Overall, we were very pleased with every aspect of the job. Mario told me not to worry about a thing - that the house would look great when they were done - and he was right!

Everything was beautifully done. The first 2 days the exterior of the house was crawling with 15 to 20 employees primping the house, different crew for different jobs: carpenter, scraping, caulking, priming, and painting It was a sight! The neighbors were impressed! In spite of the heat, the employees worked relentlessly. At all the time there was a foreman in charge on the job, and the owner, Mario, came everyday to see the progress and resolve matter if needed. The job was finished in 6 days to our entire satisfaction and more!
Description of Work: Painting the whole exterior of an old farm house dating back from 1870. Power wash all the exterior walls, including the decks. Scrap the old paint where necessary. Find and fix the rotten wood. Replace the broken tiles of the walls Caulk all the windows and doors. Apply two coats of primer Apply two coats of color everywhere. Stain the front fence and the decks and a pergola on the second floor.

I strongly recommend Solution for all of your painting, repairs, power washing, anything to do with bringing out the beauty in your home. The guys showed up on time, worked all day, took one quick break, cleaned up after themselves, and their work is second to NONE!!! I could not be happier with the job they did on my house. They patched the holes in the walls, resealed my crown molding, and did everything that we asked them to do. We changed our minds several times during the completion of the project and Ezekial was very patient and did everything we asked. His crew of workers do not come to your house and relax, they GET TO WORK AND THEY GET THE JOB DONE!!!! I left my house unattended for three hours and when I returned everything was exactly where I left it and the guys were still working and the crew functioned like a well oiled machine. I cannot say more about their professionalism, Mario and Tammy were great and together with Ezekial it was mission accomplished. I would recommend Solution to everyone out there who needs professional grade work done on their home. They are the best in the business. Anytime I need future projects for my home, I already know who to call. Thanks Fellas, JOB WELL DONE!!! R. Murray Jr.
Description of Work: Solution painters painted the entire first level of our home. They also fixed six holes that were due to a previous contractor fixing a pipe in between the walls. They power washed the entire house, painted the foundation, painted the trim, windows etc, and also painted the front door both inside and outside.

I had a closet destroyed by water damage and have had a lengthy process of getting the responsible party to agree to paying for damages. That has required several written estimates and it has been a long process. In that situation Mario has actually come to meet with me twice to provide estimates. His response to my initial request has been prompt and he was there to meet me at my requested time, actually showing up a bit early and waiting for me to arrive. He was complete in his estimate and explained the job in detail. I also appreciate that this is a relatively small business and he pointed with pride to his recent write up in the Washingtonian as a quality contractor. The 3rd party payment situation with my situation makes my choice of contractor somewhat out of my own control but left my own choice I would definitely want Solution Painting to do this job and will use them for other projects.

I can't say enough good things about Solution Painting. This wasn't a small project (our house measures over 3600 square feet), yet they finished the whole job (including two coats of paint on walls, ceilings, and trim) in less than two days, and still with excellent attention to detail. They were prompt, courteous, careful with our belongings, and left the whole house cleaner than it had been when they arrived. They made sure we had access to the things (from cupboards to entire rooms) that we needed, even while they were hard at work getting the real business of painting done. On the one evening between their two work-days, they took care to tidy things up so we could eat supper, sleep, and get ready for the next day pretty much as we normally would. Also? I assumed we'd need to reconnect our electronics after they were done, but one of the crew was something of a tech expert, and got our video systems and wi-fi back up and running with no trouble. We're asking them back to work on the outside of our house, too, with an estimate coming tomorrow. My whole family recommends them most highly. I can pretty well promise that you'll be delighted by their work!
Description of Work: The Solution crew sanded, patched, and painted almost every room in our home. To do this, they removed window treatments, moved and/or covered furniture, and then put everything back when they were done. (Which involved a LOT of heavy lifting, since they were moving fully-loaded bookcases, in addition to solid-wood furniture. And they had to move it all twice--once out, once back in.)
