He took time out to talk with me over the phone to try and troubleshoot the issue. It impressed me because there was nothing for him to gain at that point, so I used them. When they came, they got the job done for me.

To handle circuits that were overloaded with too many outlets, they suggested installing new circuits - since I now had a brand new circuit breaker box. I am very pleased with this suggestion - it was relatively simple and greatly eased the load on the old circuits.
Description of Work: Switch from fuses to circuit breakers, upgrade to 200 amp service. Installed new 4 tube light fixture with switch. Replaced 3 outside fixtures. Added GFI outlet outside. Installed a ceiling fan. fixed attic fan problem and installed switch. Added two new circuits.

Description of Work: The man I spoke to on the phone advised me on how to troubleshoot a balky circuit breaker thereby saving me the money for the service call. It was a problem I had not encountered in my 65 years (during many of which I was being my own handyman). The previous electricians did not think of it, including the top rated companies I contacted on angie's list first.

+ -1 moreIt turned out that the problem was very minor but they sent someone to check it out on the same day that I called them. They were efficient. They went out of their way to help us. We wanted it fixed as quickly as possible because we did not have electricity in the house. They sent a person to look at it even though, apparently, they did not have time to do it that day. They tried to squeeze in for us. Earlier the same guy had tried to help us over the phone so that they would not have to send someone over but we were not able to do that. So he came over. He called and told us that he would be here in 20 minutes. He was pricey. He did not have to do much. He just had to put a switch. If he had to do more, then probably the price would have been worth it.

Description of Work: An exterior light was installed on my second floor deck with an on/off switch inside the house. The challenging work was repairing my non functioning doorbell. Over the past 10 years I have had 2 other electricians supposedly repair the doorbell but within days of their departure, it stopped working again. Len from Quality took the time to trouble shoot the problem. After determining that the real problem was a non functioning transformer, he replaced it and even relocated it so that should it ever cause a problem again it would be much easier to repair. The doorbell alone would have been worth the amount of the bill ($342.00) but the exterior light project was accomplished as well. Len was very professional and extraordinarily neat . I would definitely use Quality again for future electical work.

+ -1 moreExcellent service rendered, and Mr. Lawson, the electrician, was very knowledgeable, answered all my questions, and was very efficient. Of particular note, Mr. Lawson was extremely courteous and professional.
Description of Work: Checked connection in master bath vanity light (after an explosion of one connection) and replaced glass fixtures of vanity light. Replaced front and rear exterior lights with new fixtures. Re-secured fan blade in master bathroom vent fan which had stopped working -- no need to replace fan!

+ -1 moreIt was later in the morning, and there were not any technicians available to come out the day I called. The person I spoke with on the phone was very patient and kind and talked me through the problem. He could have easily scheduled me the following day and charged me a fee, but he tried to trouble shoot the problem first. All he asked was that I keep him in mind if I need an electrician in the future. We absolutely will! Unfortunately, I had just spent $106.00 to hear the problem was not associated with our upstairs HVAC unit which we incorrectly assumed was the problem. Wish I had called Quality Electrical Services first!
Description of Work: I contacted Quality Electric Services because of a lighting problem we were experiencing in our upstairs Master Bedroom and Bathroom.

Service tech called approximately 30 minutes before he arrived. Arrived on time, and was able to fix both issues in about 30 minutes or so. Very clean, courteous, and all issues resolved. Would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: Needed to have outdoor motion sensor light fixed as well as determine why the pool light didn't work.

+ -1 moreI called on a Wednesday and was able to get an appointment for the next Monday. Having used them before, I didn't even bother with an estimate. The two electricians arrived exactly on time and got to work immediately. When we discovered that we didn't have all the parts/fixtures needed, they asked whether I wanted one of them to go get the needed items or wait till another time. I authorized their getting the parts; one of them made a quick trip out while the other continued working. They were polite, professional, and personable and, most importantly, got everything done in an efficient manner.
Description of Work: Replaced and put together a ceiling fan and light; rewired an old lamp; replaced a ceiling light; replaced an undercounter light; replaced a lamp switch; and installed an automatic light switch for the front porch.

They were quick, clean, and could probably pass as stand up comedians if they wanted to. It took them about 3 and a half hours to complete everything and were working hard the whole time. They didn't mind me asking a 1001 questions about how everything works and were gracious in explaining what to look out for down the road.

+ -1 moreLen was my electrician. Quickly replaced the kitchen GFI outlet which I provided. Ran test and all the outlets connected to it worked fine. Second GFI is connected to all the bathrooms and outside. I have a water pump plug in the outside. Len removed the outdoor outlet and it basically fell apart in his hand. He replaced the outlet and installed a new cover to protect the outlet from the rain.
Description of Work: Replaced one GFI outlet and troubleshot a second GFI that reset every time it rained.

+ -1 moreI was told they would arrive between 8:00 & 9:30. The dispatcher apparently didn't make note of that and showed up at 1:30. This was after waiting several days to get an appointment time convenient to me. The work actually performed was excellent, though they sent 2 people to perform a job easily done by one. And I was charged for both. I was told I would be given a 10% senior citizens discount, but not that it would only apply to charges after the first 20 minutes. On the plus side, they very nicely replaced an oversized breaker with one of the proper size. Since the breakers are old and difficult to find, I was especially appreciative of their being able to do this.

+ -1 moreI will call Quality Electrical tomorrow when they are open for business, and thank this gentleman profusely for being so kind and helping me when he didn't have to, and for no charge. You just don't find people like this every day and I want him and the people on Angie's list list to know that.
Description of Work: Strong winds on December 31, 2008 knocked out power to my neighborhood more than once during the day and evening. On January 1, 2009, I noticed that my outside lights, which are controlled by a timer, were not getting any power and therefore, would not turn on. On the off chance that Quality Electrical might be working on New Year's Day, I called their number (703-642-1880). A gentleman answer and said they were closed but asked what type of problem I had. I told him and he said that because of the power outages, the timer had shut itself off and I needed to restart it. He referred me to the instructions which came with my timer where I found that sometimes power surges can cause bulbs to blow and if that's the case, the timer will shut down, therefore letting you know you need to replace a bulb. Which I did and now everything is back to normal. If he hadn't told me to do it, I wouldn't have had a clue as to what to do, or where to look for solutions. This immediately came to my mind. It is New Year's Day, 2009, and this guy's company is closed. But he took the time to listen to my problem and suggest what I might do to correct it. I've never had this happen to me before. Based on this one experience, I think I have found an electrician for life.

+ -1 moreThe job went very well. I had no way to compare price; however, I had an electrician tell me the kitchen fan could not be repaired. I had hired him to install the other two fans and he never showed up and his phone was disconnected. Mr Lawson said that the kitchen fan was easy to repair and he repaired it. I am very pleased with the work and the time.
Description of Work: Mr. Lawson installed two fans and repaired one in the kitchen. He rewired an outlet in my pond and brought it up to code installed a new outlet replacing a conduit. He had to remove some stone work to install the conduit. This price included parts and labor.

Description of Work: We had an electrical problem with our stove that we thought was the result of a problem in the breaker box. I explained the problem and was advised on how I might be able to fix the problem myself. The suggestion didn't work so I called back and a service person was at my house within an hour. He was courteous and very helpful. He identified the problem quickly and fixed it.

+ -1 moreOn Monday, I set up an appointment for Wednesday without requesting an estimate. I was the first visit of the day and they came over first thing in the morning. The team included an electrician's helper which made the visit go quicker. The job was made simpler because the electrical panel was within the kitchen where I was installing the outlets.
Description of Work: Needed 4 outlets in the kitchen either put on a new circuit or moved a few feet across the wall. Ben the electrician dragged the circuits across the ceiling from the electrical panel when working on the existing circuit would have required more holes in the wall. They installed a GFCI outlet I had already bought.
