Quality Electric was very responsive. They sent a guy out early in the morning to give an estimate the same week that I called. He was punctual, professional, and friendly. However, the quote they gave us seemed very high for what was around a half-day's work and didn't require any rewiring or anything complicated ($850 for labor and electrical materials-- the fixtures were to be supplied by us). Also, though the electrician admitted that "technically" this work should require a permit, they wouldn't pull a permit on it or arrange for inspections because he didn't see the point of inspecting this kind of work. He said I could pull a permit as a homeowner and arrange for the inspection if I wanted to, but if I were to require them to get a permit and get inspected, they'd have to charge me even more. I am suspicious of a contractor who is averse to getting a job inspected when the code requires it, and pulling the permit as a homeowner would leave me little recourse if the inspector found that the work was completed improperly. So, in the end, my husband and a friend with a lot of electrical experience completed the work one Saturday morning for around $150 or so in materials (including the cost of the fixtures).
Description of Work: I received an estimate from Quality Electrical to install three ceiling fixtures, move a wall receptacle approximately 6 inches, and move two light switches short distances. Our basement flooded in September and this needed to be done because of remodeling/new drywall we had to install post-flooding.

From estimate to conclusion of the service, Quality Electric provided exceptional service and support. This included detailed information on recessed lighting as well as an impromptu inspection and advice on future electrical projects. The two individuals who initially inspected the proposed work site, Matt and Ben, later returned with Jerry to perform the actual work. With all three working, the job was completed in a timely manner to my upmost satisfaction. All three were extremely professional, performing in an exemplary manner. I would not hesitate to recommend Quality Electric Service or use them for my future electrical needs.
Description of Work: Quality Electric Service removed an existing ceiling light and an existing light/fan, replacing with recessed lighting in the kitchen and dining area. Nine (9) recessed 5" lights were installed. Also, replaced various electrical switches and outlets.

I called an electrician after 3 years of having inexplicable computer glitches and failures in my son's room that didn't happen anywhere else in the house. I could literally remove the computer from his room when it wouldn't boot, take it to the living room and have it boot normally, then take it back to the kid's room and have it fail again. Anyway the gentleman on the line listened to my story and asked for various details and suggested things to look for, but acknowledged that beyond checking the wiring connections there was no particular test that would help diagnose the problem, especially if it was in intermittent issue. He was very patient and professional and generous with his time on the phone, and I would definitely call there first when I do have a definite need for an electrician.
Description of Work: I called to ask whether an electrician could help with what I thought MIGHT be a power problem in one room in the house. The gentleman who answered the phone was an electrician and had a long conversation with me to analyze the problem and finally determined that they could check out the wiring for me, but that confidence was low that the problem would be identified that way and probably wasn't worth the money to do so.

When I called for an appointment for Columbus Day, I was told that they would try to fit me in but were pretty booked up. I was pleasantly surprised to received a call in the morning from a technician who was 15 minutes away. When he arrived I showed him what needed to be done and he proceeded to do the job. I was impressed with his professionalism and would definitely use this company again.
Description of Work: The job consisted of installation of a ceiling fan and outdoor light fixture.

Went very well from the first call to the installation and clean up! I needed to have a wall outlet repaired and installation of two ceiling fans. Was able to make the appt within the week and the tech called me when he was half an hour away from my home. Arrived when expected and started to work right away after I showed him the outlet and the two fans. It took about two hours to get everything completed. The Tech was very polite and showed me what the problem was with the outlet. Cleaned up all of the old parts of the ceiling fans and offered to take everything to the trash for me.

Called because light and fan motor were not operating but LEDs at the two wall switches were glowing. Quality didn't have an appointment available but later tried to squeeze us in. We were not able to do it on short notice. After a little confusion regarding date scheduled for service in the following week, we made an appointment. Technician came, did diagnosis and performed the work. Rated punctuality B because of appointment confusion. This is our second time using them for electrical work.

Spoke with Mr. Raynor several weeks ago when the contractor we were using at the time was unresponsive to concerns re: electrical work they had performed. Mr. Raynor told me what to look for and questions to ask. The next week, I called Mr. Raynor back to have Quality Electric take over our electrical work since we had no desire to continue with the previous contractor. We did have to wait over one week for the appointment because they were booked. Len came out today, found a shorted circuit due to bad (wet) GFCI outlet on outside front of house which kept tripping the circuit to the entire right side of the house. He showed us where the wire was smoking inside of the house. Len replaced the box, breaker and cover. Also set junction box in basement to refeed the outlet because it had been compromised. At our request, he also replaced the old pull-chain fixture in the garage with new GFCI outlet. Len was extremely nice, efficient, on-time, explained in detail what was wrong, what he was going to do, and what did not need to be done. He was patient with our questions, and we have gotten a quote on having an attic fan installed by Quality Electric which we are scheduling in the near future.
Description of Work: Found circuit shorted due to bad GFCI outlet on front of house that had water in the box. Replaced box, GFCI and in use cover. Also set junction box in basement to refeed same outlet due to compromised wiring. Replaced old pull chain fixture and box in garage with new GFCI outlet. Provided estimates for attic fan (eave-installed and top mounted) and the pros and cons of each.

We made the first call because we had a circuit breaker which tripped at irregular intervals, impacting the shower light/fan combination and several wall outlets. We could not figure out what caused the breaker to trip, since sometimes it would be fine for days and other times, it would trip within minutes of resetting. Harry at QES told us to try several things on our own, rather than have them make the visit to do the same differential diagnosis at our expense. We narrowed down the possibilities to two likely candidates: a defective light/fan mechanism or a faulty circuit breaker. (Both are 25 years old, having been installed when the house was built.) Determining which, if either, of these problems was the culprit was beyond our abilities. After trying everything, we called back to schedule the appointment. By that time, we had also determined that an attic fan had stopper working. The service was scheduled for two days later, which was quite prompt to us. Two technicians arrived at the end of the two hour window. After showing them the problems, the technicians worked first on the attic fan. It had to be replaced, which took them about an hour. Once that was done, they worked on the circuit breaker problem and, after about 40 minutes determined that the breaker itself was faulty. They replaced and tested the new breaker, tidied up the work areas, accepted credit card payment for the total bill and left. It took about 2 1/4 hours for the work to be completed. The new attic fan works and the circuit breaker problem seems to be completely resolved.
Description of Work: QES replaced a broken attic fan and a faulty circuit breaker that controlled a shower fan/light and several electrical outlets. They sent two technicians to do the work two days after we called for an appointment. Prior to that time, during our first call, they told us things we could try ourselves to narrow down the source of the circuit breaker problem.

Overall-it was a very professional and pleasant experience. When I called to request a quote and service, they were able to come out the next day. Since we had a number of small items, they would charge us by time and materials. The technician called on his way to make sure we were still confirmed and arrived shortly thereafter. He was very courteous and professional and performed the work most efficiently. He even was able to use some of our materials (extra outlets) that we had left from a previous project. I will definitely use this company again--for both small and larger electrical projects.
Description of Work: A dryer plug was moved from one wall to the opposite wall to accomodate moving a dryer. Additionally, we had 8 electrical outlets and one switch replaced with new ones. The originals were painted over and/or generally old.

All the electric went out in one of my bathrooms and an adjacent bedroom. I checked the circuit breakers and found that no circuits had been tripped. Although there were no Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) in either room, I reset all others in my home in case one of them might have been connected to this circuit, but to no avail. I had noticed that the light switch in the problem bathroom was not working too well the day before (i.e., loose, without a definite "click" on or off). I was concerned that this might have caused the failure, but because the circuit breakers had not tripped, I was concerned that this might be a sign of a bigger (and costly) problem.
Description of Work: I described my problem over the phone to a gentleman at Quality Electric Service who explained to me that the circuit in question would not necessarily trip the breaker. His advice was to manually (and with some force) trip the circuit breakers and to reset them. His advice spot on and the problem was resolved.

I had lost power to my stove/oven outlet and was at a loss as to what may have caused the issue. I called Quality Electric off of the referral list from Angie's list and I had an electrician on the site within the hour. Len assessed the outlets and found the problem within minutes. He brought everything back to working order on a timely basis and communicated with me exactly what the problem was. He was professional and courteous and I will certainly call on them again in the future if there's a problem.
Description of Work: I had loose wiring in a GFCI in my kitchen that knocked the power out of my stove/oven. Quality Electric was called and Len came out to the house, assessed the problem in my kitchen and tightened the necessary wiring and even cleaned up after the work was completed.

I was very pleased with the service provided by this company. Len Lawson arrived in the early part of the window Harry had given me and he worked quickly but very carefully and neatly. As others have stated, Len is very friendly, courteous, and professional, but at my house, he went above and beyond his usual duties. I have 6 rescued cats living in my house and when Len arrived I told him that I could pen them up in our family room so that he could work undisturbed. He said there was no reason to do that, he was a cat owner himself and he didn't mind them being around. Well, he had 6 "helpers", which I don't know how he managed, especially with the installation of the kitchen fan, which was extremely difficult, based on what I observed. I thought the price was more than reasonable for the work performed and I plan on using this excellent company again. I also was pleased that Len had everything with him that he needed, which was not always the case with other electricians I've used. I highly recommend this company.

Description of Work: My ceiling light/fan in the basement just stopped working 3 weeks ago. While I thought it was an issue with the fan, Quality Electric Service quickly determined it was the light switch. We were very pleased with Len's work from Quality Electric Service, Inc. As soon as he arrived, and we explained what we required, he got right to work. After Len gave us the invoice and we paid him, we chatted for a few minutes. He was extremely personable as well as professional.

I called and spoke with Harry Raynor, who promised to fit our job into their schedule the following day. They did so and arrived at our house at the time agreed to - they even waited since I had been delayed in traffic. Len Lawson was the team lead assigned to work on our job. He and his assistant were exceptionally professional. They listened carefully to the steps I had taken to diagnose the problem and very rapidly resolved the problem by replacement of a defective wall outlet. The problem was completely resolved within 45 minutes of the team's walking into our house. I could not be more pleased with the quality of their work, professionalism and helpful advice they offered.

I called and they were able to set an appointment later in the week. Two people came, the master and apprentice. I had a bunch of electrical projects saved up. The master electrician was very good about answering questions, and they were able to fix everything I wanted to have fixed that day. They were so good and I was so happy to have the work done that I didn't scrutinize the bill for whether I was charged at the rate of one or two people. In any case, one can ask what their rates are over the phone. They did such a good job that I intend to use them for future work.
