I requested an inspection and repair estimate from several companies as additional opinions, since the company that cleaned the chimney said I needed over $3,000 in repairs, including 2 new flue liners. Phoenix said did not need the 2 flue liners. Their estimate was about half that of the original company. Phoenix planned to access the smoke chamber from the firebox by permanently removing the damper and replacing it with a different type. I decided to use a different company that obtained access from the outside of the chimney.

Firm did video inspection of two chimneys and found them to be in good condition. They did not push for additional work or services which I appreciated. Work done on time and at the cost agreed to.

Called promptly. Scheduled survey visit. Provided estimate. I then scheduled work. They came when promised and completed work satisfactorily. I would use again.

They came on time, examined our chimney, and let us know that it did not need cleaning at this time. They also told us it could go two more years unless we used our fireplace a great deal this winter.

Phoenix Chimney was very responsive. Donnie and crew came to our house and performed the inspection and gave their recommendations. He never tried to upsell me on anything and advice me on how I can handle a couple of the issues myself. They performed the chimney sweep and were great at the clean up. I would highly recommend their services. I am planning on using them on my new house.

For some time, the air handlers leaving our furnace in the basement and going into a crawlspace would get so hot and heavy when the furnace ran that we couldn’t touch them. We had tried other companies, and I had called many more, but none could fix our problem. Finally, I spoke with Donnie late in the evening (approximately 9:30 p.m.), and he and Charlie came early the next day. They assessed the situation, which they said was a clog/backup somewhere in the flue leading from our furnace and connecting to the upstairs chimney. To reach the extensive clog, they had to climb through a narrow opening, which other professionals would not (or could not) attempt. The Phoenix Chimney crew knew how to enter the crawlspace, and they fairly quickly and efficiently cleaned the entire flue. They unclogged a huge soot backup -- the soot filled a 5- or so gallon paint bucket -- which was almost completely blocking all venting! The backup was so severe that the flue was actually venting into the crawlspace underneath a room in our house, next to the garage -- it was not venting to the outside. I had called multiple companies and paid at least two other professionals to clean the flue/chimney (and I carefully explained the problem to all), but none could or would find and remove the clog. Only Phoenix Chimney was willing to take the time and make the effort to thoroughly clean out the problem, making our heating system safe again. In fact, we actually paid MORE a few weeks earlier for a and quot;flue cleaningand quot; by the Chimney Doctor of NOVA than Phoenix Chimney charged to actually clear the clog, which was the reason I called the Chimney Doctor in the first place! Further, based on the extent of our back-up and the fact that the pipes/flue leading from the furnace got worse (hotter) after the and quot;cleaning,and quot; I believe the other company actually made the situation worse, by simply pushing soot down the chimney and into the clog, rather than pushing the soot down AND cleaning it out. I will never again use anyone except Phoenix Chimney to take care of our chimneys and flues. They not only cleaned our flue, but they also clean out the residue that others had pushed down the chimney! Phoenix Chimney provided excellent, extremely conscientious service for a very reasonable price. They take the time to understand and find the problem, and most important: they correct it. In my view, Donnie is equally or more concerned about customer safety and security than he is about making a profit.

There is really no story. I was advised to have my chimney checked, Donny came out and did so. Excellent response and excellent service.

Saved me about $600 by only recommending work that needed to be done. He noted that some repair work I believed was needed (based on earlier estimate), was really not necessary. I had to wait a bit for an appointment, but it was well worth the wait.

Things went very well, as my large dog greeted Charlie and he didn't even flinch. All inspections were performed, and even some suggestions made for how to keep the fireplace running smoothly, which were helpful.

He was proactive and communicative. He was very professional and prompt with responding to my emails. We decided to use another company, however we now regret the decision. Next time we will be sure to use his company.

I have used Phoenix Chimney before and have found they do a great job and provide exceptional customer service. Phoenix arrived exactly when promised. They inspected my chimney from the inside and out and told me I did not need to have it swept at this time. So instead of spending over $200, they charged me for the inspection only. Before they left they cleaned and vacuumed the chimney box. They were extremely careful and left the living room clean. Phoenix is honest, reliable, and professional.

I have used them for 10 years in my house and I recommend them highly. They are super honest. They told us that we did not even need cleaning. Others would have just gone ahead and cleaned it and charged us. They are reliable and reasonable in terms of their fees.

After an earthquake, hurricane AND tropical storm I had water coming in through the chimney. Most chimney companies wouldn't even return my calls they were so busy. Phoenix took the time to return my call even though they too were swamped and booked solid for another 6 weeks. They agreed to put me on the calendar and recommended that I keep calling around to see if I could get someone sooner, but if I didn't they would come out at the arranged time. In between then I did have a company come out and replace the chimney cap, which we had thought was the problem. Water still was pouring in though, so we kept our appointment. They arrived ahead of time, and called first to let me know. They inspected the chimney for me, made a few minor fixes and caulked some joints. They located the problem, which was underneath the chimney, gave me instructions on how to fix it myself and recommended I do a little regrading as well. Their advice worked beautifully and has saved me so many headaches and so much stress. They didn't make a dime off their visit, but they did make a loyal customer. They were honest and kind. Took the time to really help me out, explain things and were very professional. I highly recommend them to everyone. I feel I was lucky to meet them. Very good people.

After receiving quotes from several companies (varying widely in price), Phoenix did the work for the best price. They taught me what I need to know about the chimney and fireplace. They were very punctual and did a great job. I'm very happy with this company and will use them again.

I contacted Phoenix Chimney based on other Angie's list reviews. As I've an older home with a brick chimney I was concerned about its condition following the earthquake that occured earlier this year. When I called the firm for an appointment they recommended using a scope to inspect the chimney interior for cracks in combination with a sweep. The two technicians, Don and Charlie arrived within the scheduled time frame. Charlie examined the chimney from the roof and Don from the hearth in the den. As I typically burn poplar logs in the fireplace, Don said the chimney was surprising clean and he could see visually that the liner was intact and hadn't sustained any damage from the earthquake. He said there was no need to scope or sweep the chimney at this time. I had expected to pay $200+ for the scope and sweep and very much appreciated Don and Charlie's honesty, consequently I was only charged their inspection fee and nothing else. I recommend Phoenix Chimney and will call them again for service.

Arrived promptly on time; very courteous and professional; completed inspection in short order (external/internal) and found no problems or need to do a chimney sweep. To my surprise, there was no charge! Very satisfied.

We originally called these guys for a second opionon after Safer and Warmer's Ted came out and told us we needed $5000 wotth of work done or our house would burn down.... We were reassured that the fireplace, stove, chimney and house were all going to be just fine. Donnie really put our minds at ease and we started burning that very night. We burned for a full year and had Donnie come out to clean for us this year. The chimney was not in need of a cleaning yet but he gave us a product to help make the clean ing next year go smoothly. His doworker even told me about a shingle that had been blown off the roof in a recent storm and got a branch out of my gutter! As a super busy mother of three I really appreciated the helping hand! Really great guys. We will be calling them next time and I got their card to pass out.

Chose this company based upon Angie's List rating. The company was called after hours and Donnie returned the call the next morning to set up the service call. Donnie was very personable on the phone which was appreciated. Donnie and Charlie then showed up on the scheduled day well within the 2 hour window. The crown and mortar joints were inspected for cracks/defects. A small plant growing out of a mortar joint was removed before it caused further damage. The joint was caulked to seal the crack created by the pesky plant. The overall condition of the crown and chimney were determined to be good with no further repairs needed. Charlie even noticed some potential roof shingle defects that may need attention. Donnie volunteered to view the fireplace and chimney from within the house to advise when the next chimney sweep should be performed. Since the repair near the crown area was relatively minor, just the trip charge was billed which is very fair. Thus, the company showed up on time, performed the needed work at a fair price, and did not pressure the homeowner for dubious repairs, unlike other companies this homeowner has used in the past. Donnie and Charlie were very friendly and worked with the homeowner to relieve any concerns relating to the chimney. This homeowner will now use Phoenix Chimney as the sole source for chimney sweeps and repairs. Overall Grade is an A!!!

Arrived at 9am on the day they said they would and were here until 5pm only taking a short break all day. They had a lot of work to do and they earned every dollar spent. Our chimney was difficult but they got the job done. THey cleaned up well and we would hire them again.

He didn't charge us anything and he got on the roof and inspected our chimney. He was very good and honest. He said he couldn't charge me until he felt he had done something. He was on time, prompt, professional, and knowledgeable.

Ronnie was prompt, polite, and thorough. I found him to be completely trustworthy. Another contractor gave me an estimate of $5,000. Ronnie said he could fix it for $700. but that it was fine "as is". I strongly recommend Phoenix!

He came out, easily fixed it, was very courteous and friendly. He had a tarp to lay down to protect the carpet. Will definitely use him again.
