Description of Work: Kathy and Bosco came to our house and searched for bed bugs after my neighbor came over who had bedbugs in his house came to our house and I started having bites. They found bedbugs in 3 places. She also searched a house we were buying and our cars. We had our house heat treated and Kathy came back again and checked the house . Her dog detected bed bugs still present and we had the house heat treated again. She provided good recommendations for extermination services.

Description of Work: My husband was sleeping exclusively in our newly remodeled basement to get rest since we just had a newborn. He woke up with bites over a few days and we thought maybe it was a spider. We've NEVER had a problem with bed bugs in past. In fact we've always checked for them when traveling, stopped buying second hand stuff six years ago when I read about them, dried clothes on high heat that were given to us, etc. Well, after two separate times of getting bites, my husband went to work and in afternoon took off his sweatshirt and at 4pm saw a bug on the front of his white dress shirt. (He's a professional and works for a Fortune 500 company.) He was on a conference call by himself but managed to catch it without freaking out on the phone. He was able to positively ID it as an adult female bedbug. UGH!!! We immediately felt sick to our stomachs and went into research mode. Fortunately, we found Kathy English with K-9 right away. From reading for hours, we quarantined the entire basement, hot dried and washed all possible infected clothes of his and we realized that we needed to have her dog inspect asap and not to spray any chemicals or take apart or disturb that bedroom in any way. Long story short, Kathy and dog came (thankfully in an unmarked car; she's very discrete. The last thing we need is to be the talk of the neighborhood) and the dog did find evidence of bugs, but only on the bed where he slept. No other dog nose "hits" anywhere else in the house! We heat treated that basement bedroom the next day and had her come back four days later. The dog checked the house again and this time did not smell any evidence of bugs anywhere in the house. I paid her to recheck entire house. Dog is trained to only detect alive bugs and eggs. I would definitely recommend Kathy to others. She has the ONLY dog certified in VA for detection of bed bugs. She has to train her dog every day. Her service saved us over $2,000 in what we would have spent to heat treat the entire house. BTW, physical evidence of bugs, eggs, larvae or blood stained sheets were NEVER FOUND ANYWHERE in our house. I'm so glad we called Kathy when we did because we probably caught it before it became an infestation. The likely source he picked up an adult bug was either work (it's a NY based business) or the car that my husband had rented for 10 days while his car was being serviced. The guy that I chose to do heating of bedroom was someone that she could vouch for--Kevin, owner of Brown's Exterminating. He did a fantastically thorough job. He said he HAS treated people's cars before as well as many offices in the area, so it's not uncommon to pick up bugs from places like that. Just to be on the safe side, I will probably have Kathy out one last time in another month to check before we have house guests just for peace of mind. If we find anything that was missed, I will update here. I couldn't recommend Kathy enough. As far as I'm concerned, you should NEVER start any treatment until you first determine where in your house you are infected. He dog did that for us and helped us zero in on where to treat.

Description of Work: I contacted this vendor about doing a bed bug inspection and treatment in my home. Unfortunately, her business is located in northern Virginia (about 5 hours away). Instead of just saying nope, can't help you, she actually investigated a good business that she felt confident in recommending. Now THAT is real customer service. I hope she is a very successful business owner. That level of service was unexpected and way above the call of duty! Highly recommended!

Description of Work: Kathy and Bosco came into my condo because I had bed bugs and needed to know where they were. Bosco narrowed it down to the exact areas and then Kathy recommended a company to get rid of the little monsters. Afterwards Kathy and Bosco came back to make sure the bugs were all gone and they were. Thank you Angie's List for Kathy and thank you Kathy and Boscoe for doing such a GREAT job.

Description of Work: K-9's owner inspected my home to detect bedbugs, using a trained dog.The dog successfully showed where bedbugs or live eggs existed. After receiving the K-9 report, I called an unaffiliated company to remediate the bed bugs.

Description of Work: We suspected we had bed bugs, actually saw a couple and I called Kathleen and she was extremely helpful, sent over a preparation checklist (which other services had not done!) and came out to us quickly. I was so glad to have cancelled my appointment with anoter company and had Kathleen and Boscoe come out. The other company was not at all pressed to come out to us, giving us appointment timeframes two weeks from when I called - NOT COOL with bed bug issues!!! Kathleen confirmed our suspicion and narrowed it down to just our bed, not the kids rooms or anywhere else in our townhouse. Having bed bugs itself is a NIGHTMARE you just do not EVER want to experience. Kathleen was extremely helpful, patient and gave us good information when she came out to us. The company she suggested we use for the actual extermination was extremely helpful, great customer service and the technicians they sent were also very pleasant to work with. We most definitely want Kathleen and Boscoe to come back and do an "after" inspection - had we not used Kathleen's services, I would have been a completely worse nervous wreck!!! Human inspection vs. Boscoe's inspection gave me the security of knowing that we caught it in time, and isolated the problem. Had we not used K-9 detection, I would always wonder if the "human" inspection was accurate. Most definitely recommend Kathleen if you suspect any issues!!! Boscoe searched our home and was fantastic and VERY accurate. The technician from the pest cntrol company found all the bugs, eggs exactly where Boscoe found them.

Description of Work: Kathy and Bosco came to our townhouse for Bosco to see if he could detect any bed bugs in the house. Fortunately he did not, and Kathy also visually inspected many rooms/carpet of the house with me, not only for bed bugs but for anything she could see.
