CDT Remodeling

I found CDT through Angies' list, purchased their $1800 tub/shower surround deal. Was able to meet with the owner - Brian Brennan to discuss what I wanted done and what that entailed. I was able to meet with him at the desired time and date - since he had a cancellation, we were able to schedule the work the next week. He recommended that I go and select the tiles that I wanted from Mosaic Tiles and he arranged to pick up all the tiles and supplies and have them ready for the scheduled work date. He estimated it would take about 2 1/2 days to complete - it ended up being completed in 2 days. On the the first day of the job, when I arrived home, the workers covered my hardwood floors from the entrance and up the stairs towards the worksite (upstairs bathroom). There was no dust anywhere and the bathroom was left neat - I was very impressed. On the second day, I arrived home to see my new bathroom - the bathroom tile surround looked fabulous! The bathtub was squeaky clean and the new fixtures were excellent. I would definitely hire CDT again for other projects.

I made an agreement with Brian Brennan on a Thursday to do the above described work. We met at a tile showroom on Friday and picked out the tile. Because he had a cancellation on another job, he had his crew at my house the following Monday. They worked Monday, Tuesday and final cleanup on Wednesday. I only stayed home on Monday with the crew. The other two days they used a lock box preventing us from having to take more time off. Within one week, I had this project done. Brian, his son and crew were very professional, punctual and courteous. I could not have been more pleased with the way they handled this project. I would definitely use them again.

It was a pleasure working with Brian, Mike, Modesto and the rest of the crew that remodeled our bathroom's. The work they do is outstanding and high quality! I'm very particular about how I want things done and Brian and everyone involved in our renovations exceeded my expectations. I was very impressed with the constant communication from Brian. We always knew what to expect and what the next step was. We appreciated the communication from Brian because we had never done a major renovation in our house prior this and at first it was a bit overwhelming. We had water damage from a pipe in our master bathroom and decided to upgrade the entire master bathroom. From day one the process was very smooth. Brian set up appointments for one day to pick out the vanities, counter tops, faucets, tile, etc. Within a few hours we had everything picked out for our new bathroom. Brian was easy to work with and helped in making decisions. They removed the garden tub that we never used and installed a beautiful free standing tub. We had all new tile installed, new vanities, counter tops and lights. We now have a clear shower door and built in shelves. The detail and attention Brian incorporates into his work is amazing. Our bathroom looks like a spa bathroom! I'm extremely happy with the way the bathroom turned out in the basement. We initially had planned to put white tiles on the floor but Brian recommended a nice brown tile that fit into our budget. It's looks great and looks so much better than white tile. I'm extremely happy with the way that bathroom turned out. I highly recommend Custom Design Tile and will definitely call Brian again if/when we have other renovations in the future.

Custom Design Tile (CDT) did an awesome job. My house's subfloor flexes because of the underlying joists' spacing. CDT handled the leveling/flashing and knew to go with ditra instead of durock like true professionals. They were professional, fast, accurate, and the price was reasonable. Due to the floor's flexibility, some of the areas experienced loose grout over the course of 4 years. I contacted the owners to explain the issue and ask for advice. Ownership (Brian Brennan) responded immediately, came by the house to examine the issue, and sent his employees in less than a week to regrout the problem areas with a new type of "power grout." The price of the re-grout...FREE. This is the type of business you want to work with. They're professional, experts at what they do, their prices are reasonable, and they're committed to service and excellent workmanship. I'd hire CDT again in a heartbeat and provide them with my highest recommendation. I've hired other home improvement services to do other work and CDT is a gold standard at the top of my list!

This is company is FANTASTIC. The demolition took only a few days on each bathroom. Brian's team removed all debris and cleaned up the area. Then the fun began. The secondary bathroom was first to be finished. They left the original tub (our request) and tiled from the tub to the ceiling and installed glass doors, new shower head and new faucet. Once that was completed they tiled the floor. What a beautiful bathroom this turned out to be. We used chrome fittings and earth color tile. Our girls pained the bathroom Mediterranean blue and I stained the cabinet wood dark. It looks like an island paradise. Now... the Master Bath. OMG, I've got a spa bathroom, just like in the HGTV shows. IT'S GORGEOUS!!! We have a frameless glass shower door with the same earthy color tile for the walls and floor. They also installed built-in shelves. We had the garden tub with a step which left little room between the tub and shower. Brian suggested that we remove the step and retile the tub decking with the same style of tile as is in the shower. He sure knows his craft. What a difference. We went from an old, tired, 1980's bathroom to 2015 spa bathroom. Custom Design Tile is an honest, courteous, extremely skilled company. I would HIGHLY recommend this company to anyone who is looking to remodel kitchen or bath. We are seriously considering remodeling our kitchen next summer. Thanks, Brian! You are THE BEST.

Scope of the project included: - Original cast iron and galvanized steel plumbing was replaced. - Tub converted to a stand-in shower - Moved the toilet to meet code requirements - Moved the vanity - Moved an hvac supply vent - Removed standard door and installed a pocket door - Installed Kerdi waterproofing membrane - Tile entire bathroom from floor to ceiling - Recessed lights - LED mirror - Serenity shower door A renovation can be a stressful process. CDT made it as low stress as it could possibly be. Brian and Mike kept us updated and were very patient with us as we worked through design decisions. Mike and Tyler the carpenters, Rodgrigo and Nino the plumbers, Sam the electrician, and Modesto the tile artisan all were very courteous and a pleasure to deal with in our home. We have a two year old and they all did their best to keep noise to a minimum during his nap time. The bathroom turned out great. The guts were done properly and the tile work is excellent. We are so happy with what CDT did for us on the Master bathroom that we hired them again to start our kids bathroom!

Custom Design Tile )CDT) was great. We interviewed 7 or so contractors before choosing Custom Design Tile. We found that prices for this work, which involved cutting into the concrete in our basement, varied wildly. The responsiveness of many of the contractors was terrible as well. Everyone seemed to have an excuse. While I understand people are busy, setting and meeting expectations when it comes to a big job like this is important. CDT met all expectations that they set aside from minor setbacks and were quick to respond to emails and voice inquiries. The work itself was fantastic. Anyone who was in my house doing work was discrete, professional, and skilled. I can't recommend this company more and would call them again in a heartbeat for this kind of work. While they are not the cheapest, you get an accurate estimate and exactly what you pay for. For example, the difference between the budget set for tile and the actual cost (after we went to a showroom and picked it out) was off by only a couple of dollars. His design recommendations were spot on as well. Highly skilled and highly professional.

We had several contractors come out to give us estimates on updating our 1980's master bathroom. We knew we wanted to remove the unused jacuzzi tub, expand the shower, update the flooring, cabinetry and finishes but were open to suggestions on how best to make the most of our space. Right from the start Brian's professionalism and experience were evident and we are so thankful we went with him. Not only did he listen to what we wanted, but he also made helpful suggestions and provided insights we hadn't thought of. Brian accompanied us while we selected our plumbing fixtures, cabinets, tile and counter top selections and provided us with guidance to keep us within the budget we wanted, while never sacrificing the look we were going for. Brian surrounds himself with a wonderful group of tradesmen who are all talented professionals in their own right. They take pride in their crafts and it shows in the quality of their work. Each came when they were scheduled, kept us updated with any unexpected hiccups and helped us find solutions that we were all happy with. Throughout the process Brian was always available and ensured we were included in any decisions that had to be made. He laid out the timelines of how long each portion would take and told us in advance when we would need to have our materials purchased and decisions made. (ie, light fixtures, mirrors, paint colors, etc.) He knows his business and was right on target with the scheduling! In this day and age where shoddy workmanship and cutting corners seems to be the norm, its great to know that there are contractors out there like Brian and his team. Don't hesitate to use Custom Design Tile... as a matter of fact, we are so pleased that we are having them come back to redo our girls' hall bathroom :)

From start to finish, it was a pleasure to work with Brian Brennan and is son, Mike. He knows his business and knows how to work with the client to ensure the client is happy. Communication with Brian is virtually instant. He is there for you at every step of the process. Always positive in attitude and very receptive to your questions. In the planning phase, Brian was physically with us as we went to select cabinets, tile, backsplash and counter tops. He uses vendors who deliver quality products. Every day there were workers on the job, working a full day and moving the project along in a timely fashion. We had total demolition and removal of all debris. The electricians from Cedar Electrical Services scoped the site and made recommendations on recessed and pendant lighting, outlet placement and cabinet lighting. Modesto, the plumber, made sure that the water line to the refrigerator and the sink plumbing were correct and ready for appliance installation. Every subcontractor that Brian Brennan uses are experts in their trade. Our cabinet installers, Mike and Tyler, were methodical craftsmen who worked tirelessly to modify the pantry cabinets around the main stack in the house and to complete every cabinet with precision. The tile installers laid all the tile and installed the backsplash flawlessly. Drywallers and painters were equally methodical in their work and produced perfect results. They say the devil is in the details and Brian Brennan pays attention to all the details. No corners are cut. Work is done right the first time and to perfection. We got all new appliances and each one was installed with great care. At all times, the work crews were respectful of our home and cleaned up their work at the end of the day. As we progressed, I determined that we needed a cherry step into the family room redone and a railing separating the family room and kitchen painted to match the cabinets. Brian was very accommodating of those owner request changes and was happy to schedule workers in to do the jobs. Remodeling is a stressful and expensive proposition but Custom Design Tile makes it as stress free and economical as possible. Brian estimated it would take 6 weeks to renovation our kitchen and powder room. It was completed in 5 weeks and 2 days and on budget. I honestly cannot say enough good things about Brian and the way he conducts his business. Other companies could take lessons from him. Brian has earned every single A rating on Angie's List because he is simply the best. Do not hesitate to hire this outstanding professional; you'll be delighted with the result and amazed with his ability to keep his hands on the wheel of your remodel so that it turns out as you hoped it would -- perfectly!

Brian arrived on time for scheduled estimate. He discussed some options for blending the tile into the original wooden baseboard. He and his crew arrived on time the scheduled workday. The work was done over two days by a very professional team. An outstanding outcome, dramatic change in the entire kitchen. I would recommend this company. Brian was easy to work with, no pressure sales. His bid was competitive with two others I received.

It went great! Brian has great taste in recommending tiles and where to purchase, plus his skilled tile experts are professional and informed. They kept the house clean by laying down drop cloths and are very good about letting you know exactly what they're doing and when the job will be done. I would highly recommend Custom Design Tile if you want the job done beautifully!

Brian and his crew were fantastic! The work started 23 Feb when they came in, removed the old back splash, drywalled and took care of the junction boxes. The next day they came in to install the glass, 3x6 backsplash which I had purchased at a local tile shop. As Modesto was ready to install, he called to my attention that the backing to the tile was flawed. This was evident in over 40% of the tiles, which, if installed, would give the appearance of tiny imperfections in the color of the glass. I returned the glass to the tile shop and they replaced it with tiles that they had individually inspected piece by piece. Brain and his crew came in, once again, on 2 Mar only to find the front of the glass tile was scratched apparently from the previous inspection process. I finally returned the product and went to another tile shop. For the third time, Brain and his crew came in to install the tile on 9 Mar. This time everything went great! The tile was cut and installed perfectly and the final touches were completed on 10 Mar 15. I am extremely pleased with the work and would definitely use Custom Design Tile (CDT) again. Of note, Brain was extremely gracious and understanding with the delays and interruption of his work schedule during this project and did not charge anything additional. I appreciate CDT's honesty and integrity and am especially thankful to Modesto for discovering the flaws and letting me know before work started.

Since the property is a rental unit for me, I contacted several providers to get a rough estimate. Custom Design Tile was prompt in providing me a rough estimate and based on that I had them coordinate with the tenant for the formal estimate. The estimate was close to the original rough estimate. Based on that I authorized service. Custom Design Tile coordinated the install with the tenant. The demo and install took place on the days requested. The team showed up on time, took care in ensuring that the floors and other areas were covered, work was completed in the specified time, and the quality of workmanship was excellent. Tenants were happy. All in all a win.

We were extremely pleased with how this project went. This project had been started by another contractor - that did not work out. Brian came in and fixed/finished the shower. He was prompt, courteous and gave us a detailed estimate for the work we wanted done. We liked working with Brian so much, we asked him to complete the rest of the bathroom. He gave us a timeline and stuck to it. All the contractors who came into our home were polite and did a fantastic job. We will definitely use Brian again and highly recommend him.

It went great! Brian and Mike did an outstanding job to get us exactly what we wanted. They took the time to work with us and asked us the necessary questions to ensure the job went as promised. They ensured that the job progressed as expected so there were no surprises at the end. Their co-workers were friendly and professional at all times and ensured the job was completed on time. The job was done in time for the holidays and we received many compliments on the quality of the work. Not only would we hire CDT again---we already have them working on a bath renovation.

Very professional job overall; very thorough

We decided to re-tile our master bathroom and received bids from three different providers. CDT was not the cheapest quote but after evaluating their thorough quote (it was the most comprehensive and CDT was the only bid that included the use of the Ditra and Kerdi waterproofing / tile underlayment system) we decided that CDT offered the best value relative to the competing quotes. Another reason we decided to go with CDT was because of the owner Brian. Having remodeled a house in the past and worked with many different contractors, Brian was a breath of fresh air. He listened to what we wanted, provided his expert opinion, had helpful design ideas, and most importantly Brian is an honest person. CDT?s tile installer for our job, Madesto, did a phenomenal job. We were surprised when Brian said that the job would take 10 working days to complete as some of the other bids we received said it would only take 3-5 days of work?after seeing how meticulous and precise Madesto was with the tile installation, we understand why Brian said it would take 10 days to complete the work (they finished in exactly 10 working days). We had high expectations for CDT?s work and those expectations were exceeded in every aspect. We intend to use them again and will recommend them to family and friends. We could not be happier with CDT and their work.

It was actually very difficult to find a contractor who wanted to take on this job. We needed someone very capable - it was complex with a lot of moving parts - but we contacted several contractors who typically do larger additions and they were not interested in a project this "small" (as it was not a complete kitchen remodel). CDT fit the bill and from the very first meeting, Brian Brennan inspired our confidence. He understood exactly what we wanted to do. He brought out his carpenter to help brainstorm so that we had a better idea of what was possible before we were asked to sign a contract and get started. The job included the following: removing a load bearing wall and beam (moving beam into attic to make ceiling flush), constructing a custom "L" shaped island, replacing all counter tops, installing new backsplash, installing under the counter lights, installing recess lighting in kitchen and attached living room, painting. It took about 5 weeks. Because there were so many elements, there were a lot of different people who came through: architect, carpenter, drywaller, painter, electrician, plumber. Everyone was exceedingly respectful and friendly. Especially compared to other construction we've had done, I couldn't believe how well they contained the project and kept the rest of our home protected from dirt. Brian was involved in every step of the process. He made himself available whenever we had a question come up (by email, phone, text); nothing was too small. He was flexible; as usually happens with this type of project, we added a few things (and subtracted a few things) as we went along. I believe he came to the house most days to check in. If he wasn't there, Mike, another representative from CDT was there. We really enjoyed working with them both. I would recommend CDT without reservation (in fact, I've already recommended them to friends). We'll hire them again in a heartbeat for our next project. The service was excellent. The owner Brian was involved from start to finish, he managed the job and provided us with almost daily updates.

We did a complete remodel of two upstairs bathrooms and a basement bath on a more modest scale. We are thrilled with the results and enjoyed working with Brian and his team. They were unfailingly professional and accommodating. All options were thoroughly addressed. Work was completed in a timely manner.

I chose CDT because of the owner, Brian. He was easy to work with, provided great advice and design ideas, and his team did top-notch work. I already had most of the supplies for all the work that they did so most of the cost of the job was labor. I got bids from four different companies. Two of the companies specialized in tile work and two were general contractors that "had a tile guy". After talking to all four I eliminated the two general contractors from consideration based on the questions (or lack of questions) they asked. The job in the shower was a complicated one and I was highly concerned with the quality of the work. CDT was the less expensive of the two bids. I was happy about this because, while I liked both of the tile-specialty companies that came out, I wanted Brian to do the work based on talking with him. We had to wait three weeks for them to start the work, a good sign that they were busy. CDT was worth the wait. They had great design suggestions and new ideas we wouldn't have thought of, and we couldn't be happier with how it turned out. Brian even worked with the company I'd bought heated floor elements from to determine if they could make them work. We couldn't have been happier with the whole experience with CDT. If you choose to work with Brian and CDT you'll be really glad you did.

They did an extraordinary job of keeping the dust levels to almost nothing - very important to us. The also replaced the underlayment thus giving us a more stable floor. All workers spoke English so communication was a definite plus. They cleaned up after their work everyday. Very friendly and respectful.

Believe it or not, this was a very pleasant experience. Our advice would be to hire this company. Everyone we dealt with, from the owner Brian to each individual crew member, was outstanding in every way. The process was easy and supportive to us. We received an initial estimate from Brian the day after our home visit. We had identified three contractors from Angie's list to provide estimates, and Brian was the second one we saw. Since we felt his estimate was fair (it was several thousand dollars less than the first estimate) and that he was pleasant, precise, and honest, we chose him. We thought selecting our materials would be formidable, but it turned out to be fun. Brian accompanied us to appointments he had set up with designers from a tile supplier, a plumbing supplier, and a cabinet supplier. All the experts were great, but Cameron, at the tile shop, was extremely helpful. We picked out all the materials in half a day and now, looking at our beautiful bathroom, we could not be happier with the choices. Brian's work crew were all extremely capable, punctual, courteous, and quiet. The tile work done by Modesto and his assistant is super. The work site was always cleaned up at the end of the day. The job took five days, as estimated. Perhaps the best part of the process was having the owner onsite part of every day. In addition, any time we called him, he immediately picked up. Brian is very customer focused. We always knew if anything ever concerned us that he would fix it, as he did when one of the the cabinet drawers was not quite right. Bottom line: We are going to enjoy our (now) modern bath for years, and this contractor is our favorite during our 16 years in this house.

Brian and his is crew were wonderful. Brian always came out ahead of his crew to set up and make sure everything was ready to go. The crew was always on time, protected my hardwood floors from my front door all the way into the bathroom. They finished ahead of schedule, and Brian came out at the end of the job to inspect the work they had done. I would highly recommend Brian and his crew. I was very pleased and plan on using them again for additional home projects.
