It was okay. When they put the fence, there were some boards that we weren't happy with, and they came out and replaced them. They could have been a little more willing to do that then they were. They did it, but they weren't happy about it. We have moved away from the area so we wouldn't use them again.

The project went really well. Our only difficulty was that they did not respond to our initial email contact and we had to actually call to get our initial consult scheduled. However, once Rob came out he was great and discussed where it was worth spending the money (the metal frame double gate) and where it wasn't worth it (didn't need a metal frame on the walking gate). He was very responsive with email questions. Most importantly to me, workmen came out when we were told they would. They even came back at least once to fix some pieces of wood that had been cut a bit oddly without us having to ask. We need to do a little touching up of the paint on the metal frame where it got scratched but otherwise the fence looks great. We've even had compliments from the neighbors on how good it looks.

Excellent quality work at a good price. A neighbor had given me their name. Adirondack provided one of 3 estimates I got, and theirs was the most reasonable and I chose them based on good reviews on angieslist. Rob gave me an estimate based on my photos and my detailed description of the job via email (it was a bit complicated, with one fence on my side property line and another fence on a steep hill on the rear property line, plus two gates). The job was delayed a week due to rainy weather, but that was not a problem, and I believe this is a small firm with only one crew. The foreman went over the whole job carefully with me when they arrived. I was very impressed with the workmanship of the crew and the quality of materials. I recommend them highly and would definitely use them again. Licensed in VA but they work in the whole DC metro area.

It all went very well. Rob was very prompt when we requested a bid and the work was done as fast as possible given the snow storm we recently had. They did excellent work and left the yard in better shape than they found it. The crew was very courteous and hard-working.

I could not be happier with Adirondack! From first contact to estimate and installation. The service was first rate and the professionalism was above and beyond any expectations. Rob and his crew were prompt, polite and their craftsmanship is first rate. I would not hesitate to recommend this company to my family and friends and plan on hiring them for future projects. When the work was scheduled they literally showed up exactly on time. Huge points for that. The work was scheduled for one day, but took one and a half. I don't take off any points for that, but some people might. My only criticism is that we used e-mail primarily to communicate and they didn't always get back to us right away. Also, one person came out to give an estimate and go over a plan and it seemed as though it was not clearly communicated to the guys actually doing the work. They still did a good job in the end, but if we hadn't been here while they were working, we might not have been able to let the people doing the work know there were things we had discussed with the estimate person that they didn't know about and it might not have come out the way we wanted.

They were great. Came on time both days worked until they were done, cleaned up afterwards beautifully done!

A+ job! If there was a rating higher than an A+, Adirondack is deserving of it! Rob and his crew were amazing to work with. I contacted seven fence companies (BEFORE contacting Adirondack) that are advertised here on Angies List (all of which had A ratings)- 3 were overpriced, one representative was completely inappropriate and 2 didnt even bother to show up to the estimate appointment. One was okay, but the owner didnt seem to really want the business. I got a recommendation to use Adirondack from another fencing company who no longer does fences for townhouses. (I mean, how great does a company have to be for the competition to recommend them?!!) Right from the first phone conversation I had with the owner, Rob, I knew I was in great hands! He was professional, courteous, honest and extremely knowledgeable on the world of wood and fencing. Rob really has a passion for his work, and i appreciate that in an owner of a small company. I preferred to hire a small local company whose owner would be invested in the workmanship of the job--- and Rob did not disappoint!! Rob and his 2 man crew (who have been with Adirondack for many, many years) showed up early for the one day job and finished before schedule. They did an amazing job. They built the fence on-site; being careful not to disturb my vegetable garden that runs right along the fence line. We have a gigantic tree right on the fence line that they were able to built perfectly around- which was more work for them, but i wasnt charged extra for. I was pleasantly suprised to see Rob working with his crew in the labor. A true hands-on boss. My new fence is beautiful. It is the envy of the neighborhood! I'd hire them again without question!!

The A ratings that are so prevalent for Adirondack Fence are entirely deserved and happily given. Lots of rough reviews out there for many companies which made me wary. Rob and his team were absolutely tops from start to finish. Rob is very responsive and even made a return visit to our house when I had questions regarding fencing choices. Very helpful and knowledgeable to say the least. His crew and leader were prompt, tidy, efficient and thoroughly professional. I couldn't wish for a better experience.

I was very impressed by Adirondack Fence and highly recommend them to others! This is exactly the kind of company I was hoping to work with to replace my old fence. I contacted the owner Rob while I was still living outside of the area, and he came by and surveyed my new yard and answered a bunch of questions via email. He later met me when I finished moving into the new property so we could review the plan in-person. Rob and his crew thoroughly marked out the fence line with string before digging any posts, and also cleared away quite a bit of scrub bushes and small trees in the way of the new fence. They also helped rope off and save the bushes I wanted to keep. After they installed the posts they again marked the fence line with string so I could review everything before they installed the fencing. The end result was exactly what I wanted. Go with Adirondack Fence if you're looking for personalized service and a crew that's been doing fencing for years. Rob is actively involved in each project from planning through building (which is quite rare with most contractors). Additionally, I was particularly impressed that his crew had been working with him for several years as well, so you won't have any surprises about who's doing the work on your fence and their level of experience. We interviewed three fence companies, all highly rated on Angie's list, to install a fence with exact specifications. Rob Darnell came out and offered us the best price to do the work. He was very communicative and answered all my questions. At the time of the installation, his crew were prompt and professional. Before the actual rebuilding of the new fence, I worked with them to walk the fence line to insure the fence was exactly how I wanted it. We ended up getting one gate, as well as a removable panel should we need to move heavy equipment into our back yard. My only complaint (and it's a minor one) is that one of my shrubs along the fenceline was mangled and destroyed either in the removal of the old fence, or in the building of the new one, but otherwise the fence looks great, and we couldn't be happier.

From the first contact to job completion Rob was terrific to work with. His crew was very neat and didn't crush any nearby plants. The gate is getting rave reviews from all who see it.

Rob is wonderful to work with. He came to give us an estimate exactly when he said he'd come. We found his price to be fair for the work we requested. Rob and his crew were on time and very easy to work with. Rob went out of his way to accommodate additions to our original plan and worked with us to come to an agreement on price. He and his crew answered all our questions and were very helpful in coming up with options for design or resolving issues related to the contour of our garden. The crew did exceptional work; they clearly know their craft. Overall, we were delighted with the work done and the product delivered.

Good quality work. He's a little slower responding to small jobs, but I can understand that.

Everything went fine up to the point the gate posts were set. The original contract called for 2 gates and a 45 foot fence. Upon signing the contract, I was informed that the concrete used to set the posts would be filled to just below ground level. Having building experience, I wanted to be sure the posts would be set correctly. Upon the setting of the gate posts, however, I saw that only one 60 lb. bag was used per hole. After bringing this to Mr. Darnell's attention, he replied that he could see I was going to be too picky and said he was walking off the job and I could keep the gate posts as set. This put me in a position of having to find a new fence company with short notice. Mr. Darnell was very flippant, stating he had a bigger job he would rather work. Having renovated a house over 6 years, I never had experienced this level of unprofessionalism. It appeared Mr. Darnell saw a target of opportunity and used the discrepancy to send his workers to a more lucrative job. Sure enough the gate posts shifted out of level.

Project went great. The work crew was fast and efficient and asked questions throughout the process to ensure that the fence was installed correctly. The owner Rob was on-site on a regular basis to check on the quality of the work and to ask questions and provide guidance. Would absolutely use them again.

He worked hard and cleaned up afterwards. When we hit a snafu, he made adjustments. He kept me informed of his progress. He gave me start date options, too. He and his workers were nice, and it was a good experience.

We have an unusual lot with specific requirements. Rob did an excellent job of working out solutions and his team did a beautiful job of execution. We are so pleased with the fence and believe that it more than anything has enhanced the appearance of our house. It is very rare to work with a team that takes notes along the way and follows through. Very detail oriented!

Excellent experience. Rob coordinated everything, followed up with me to schedule the exact date of emplacement, then confirmed all specifications just prior to the work starting. He oversaw everything. Don't play games with other estimates, etc. He offers an extremely fair price and outstanding quality work. Complete professional.

Adirondack replaced our poorly-constructed gate that had started to sag and warp after just a year. This gate was my nightmare--every few weeks I would have to discover some new technique for how to actually get it open. Also, because the gate had no lock, it lead to my motorcycle being easily stolen from backyard. So, I hated the thing. I found Adirondack on Angie's List, and I can say that they absolutely live up to their solid A reviews. Rob was great to work with. He was prompt in returning my initial call for a quote, and all my other calls after that. When we initially spoke on the phone, I described what was happening with our current gate and how I envisioned a new gate working. Just from my description over the phone, Rob knew right off the bat the best options for replacement. Once he saw our current gate in person, he noticed the problems in its construction immediately. I appreciate that he gave me a thorough overview of how the gate should've been properly built. He gave me two options that I could proceed with--a straight, proper rebuild of the wood gate, or a sturdier, though more expensive, steel framed gate. Given that I wanted a strong gate that would last, we decided to go with the steel frame gate. I couldn't be happier. This gate is so, so much easier to work with then the old gate and it looks a thousand times better, with a nicely weld steel frame and beautiful cedar boards. I am very pleased with the service Rob and his team at Adirondack Fence Co provided and highly recommend them.

AMAZING. Seriously - do yourself a favor. STOP searching and call Rob. I am 100% confident that you will not find a better solution for your needs. I'm not sure where to start - or which part of this experience was "the best" because ALL things are practically tied. First - I called and left a voicemail about my fencing needs and Adirondack Fence's potential availability, etc... Rob returned my call in less than 10 minutes, himself. He listened intently and actively to our needs, offered to send Linda out the very next day (he was on a 2 week job relatively far away). Linda arrived - on time - as scheduled - the next day to review our landscape for an estimate. Linda was knowledgeable, personable, professional and possessed a very clear vision of what would look best, as well as function best to suit our needs. In addition, please note our job was a tiny bit complicated (due to the chainlink fence). Rob called and emailed estimates immediately. We were so impressed with his turnaround, his attention to detail and need - it was difficult to choose anyone else. Rob accurately set our expectations about his scheduling, but promised a window came up where he could send a crew, he would. And he DID. Our expectation was that we'd be slated for ~4 weeks out. Rob managed to work us in within TWO WEEKS! After graciously confirming this would work, he sent a crew to arrive the next day. The crew (and Rob himself) arrived, as indicated, at 7am - right on time. They worked ALL DAY and the next, barely stopping for lunch - and honestly never for a break. The gentlemen in the crew were polite and gracious. They cleaned up meticulously after each work day - and even scraped dirt from the post holes off of our mulch. We simply have never had a better experience with a contractor than we did with Rob and Adirondack Fence. The entire process was enjoyable, there were no issues whatsoever. And know this: I do not lie, and I do not give referrals or recommendations easily or lightly. I lack the ability to even slightly exaggerate (I cannot do that either). This was, bar none, the best experience. It was enjoyable - all of it. And I haven't even MENTIONED the quality of their WORK. The quality is amazing. Their work is meticulous, exact, entirely custom and perfect. Our yard looks BIGGER than before it had a fence - which seems impossible, but its true. I hope this is enough... Because there simply aren't enough positive, favorable words to describe these guys. Also - please note that we do not belong on "Band of Neighbors" simply because it doesn't exist for our area. I hope this high opinion still counts and holds weight. Good luck - and honestly - I'm emphatic about Adirondack Fence. It's stressful enough to need or want to ave work done - but to have it be such an incredible experience was such an unexpected surprise.

Rob and his crew from Adirondack Fence Co. did a wonderful job installing the cedar fence around our yard. Our lot has a significant slope from back to front which presented some challenges for installing a horizontal board fence - so much so that a couple companies said they would not even attempt a horizontal fence. But Rob worked with us knowing that we really wanted the horizontal boards and he came up with solutions for accommodating the grade changes. The crew was meticulous about getting all the boards level and equidistant apart. Rob was very professional and reasonably priced. And in order to make-up for winter weather delays they even worked on the weekend to complete the fence on time. Rob has been very responsive regarding a follow up issue with the gates. We love the fence and receive many compliments on the fence including from our landscape designer who was very impressed by the workmanship. We would definitely recommend Rob and his crew from Adirondack to a friend.

Rob and his crew did an outstanding job, we highly recommend Adirondack Fence Co. Rob has owned the company for 15 years and takes great pride in his work and the work of his 2 employees. They took extra care with the extensive plants, trees and shrubs in our yard and were meticulous in cutting the split rails and post so larger limbs on our shrubs did not need to be cut or removed. Other contractors said our job would be a piece of cake and they could get the fence installed in one day no problem. Rob said during his estimate that our back yard was unique and said he and his crew would take their time and really plan the fence around our landscaping, the other contractors were more focused on just getting the job done. That is what made us award the job to Adirondack Fence Co. His price was extremely fair, not the lowest or the highest. We felt he would do the best job and he did.
