Peter and crew were right on time. They were efficient, doing a great job of covering and sealing everything. They were able to remove all of the tiles in my basement (440 sq ft) and seal over the remaining adhesive. They also worked with a company for air quality testing, completing the entire job in under 6 hours.

It went well. It took a little over half a day. The air test after work completed passed. The whole project from initial estimate call to completion was under a week.

I could have removed the tiles myself, but it would have taken me a million times longer and I wouldn't have known what I was doing as far as handling and disposing of hazardous material. Young Environmental is an experienced, knowledgeable company that specializes in asbestos mitigation. We found them through Angie's List to address a problem we needed completed in order for other work to be done (the installation of a French drain for a sump pump). It was when we were getting an estimate for that work that we were told the tiles needed to be removed first because of the asbestos used in the tiles of that age (1960s). We received a quick response from Young Env. They told us that while both the tiles and mastic contained asbestos the amount was minimal and likely not a health hazard. I probably could have removed the tiles myself, but removing the mastic was a whole different issue. Young does an excellent job of sealing the area to prevent any exposure and guarantees their work. The post-mitigation testing is done by a different company (Geller Labs in our case), so there is that additional assurance. No remaining asbestos was found and the other work was able to proceed. Total work was approx. 213 linear feet of tile and mastic, just where the sump pump trench would be excavated. We plan on having them back to do the rest of the area (with a quote that obviously provides credit for work done).

Young Environmental provided one of the most hassle free experiences I have had when dealing with services for my home. From the initial meeting, which took place on a Saturday to accommodate us, to the final project everything went smoothly.

These guys were fast and professional. They even helped me gather samples and pictures required to apply for partial reimbursement from the Zolonite Attic Insulation Trust. If you can submit samples proving that your insulation is Zolonite, this trust may reimburse you up to $4,125. Turned out to be about half the project cost in the end, which was great!

We had damaged asbestos tile in our basement, discovered when we tore up the carpet to do a basement renovation. We called Young at the advice of the person who tested the tile. Young was quick to schedule and handled the removal beautifully. Very pleased.

I contacted Mr. Young after the first remediation company left pieces of tile and asbestos mastic on the floor and under the baseboards in my basement. Mr. Young came out the next day and assessed the situation. I appreciate the honesty and integrity shown when I received an email less than an hour later stating that he felt the floor was fine and that I could proceed with my own project replacing my floor. The other company sent my insurance company an estimate of a few thousand dollars to complete the job. Would have been basically free money for them. I absolutely would recommend Mr. Young for your needs and will call them if I need anything else in this category!

This was a positive experience from the start. Peter replied to my inquiry and sent out his son to do an estimate. After communicating with the condo management, he provided me a thorough proposal and spent time on the phone to walk me through the process. On the day of the service, Peter and his site crew, led by Augustine, were on time and explained how they would go about their work in great detail. When the job was complete, they called me and shared their findings and provided recommended next steps to prevent further mold growth. I was very pleased with their work, communication, and professionalism and would highly recommend them to fellow Northern Virginians.

Mr Young was easy to work with and very professional. He provided the lowest estimate for the removal of asbestos tiles from our basement and we scheduled the work for the following week. On the day the job was performed, his crew arrived on time and started by setting up the containment area. After Mr. Young explained the whole process, the crew proceeded to remove the material. Our basement was left very clean and an air test was performed to make sure it was habitable. I highly recommend Young Environmental.

Peter and his son were great. They did the estimate, answered all our questions, and scheduled the job all in a week. They gave us the best price of anyone we talked too. Their crew set up the environmental hazard area and the all the equipment to keep them safe while they worked, removed the paper, and broke down the environment all in three hours. Aside from leaving the vent on our furnace taped, everything was perfect. The team was on time and cleaned up after themselves.
