WOODLAWN TREE SERVICE

Removed a very large (4+ stories tall) dying oak tree from right next to my house. There was very little room to maneuver since the house is a corner lot townhouse with woods on two sides and a perimeter fence just a few feet from the house. I tried to get several quotes for the job, but it was difficult to find an arborist who could do it, given the room constraints. The entire job had to be done by hand, piece by piece, and I guess most tree companies aren't set up for that. Woodlawn managed to take down the tree without any problems. They had to move some things out of my garden and remove a fence panel to get enough room, but they put everything back as they found it. You would never know there had ever been a huge tree there, and now I have lots of firewood!

I had been wanting some tree service done for several years but finally had to have it done before a shed was installed. A cherry tree that had grown up at an angle was hanging over the site, and I needed it to go away. While they were here, I wanted them to clear off the dead pieces from a cherry tree in the front yard, remove a large and mostly dead cherry tree from the back yard, and remove a mulberry tree that I had previously trimmed but wanted removed entirely to keep it from dropping mulberries on my deck. I also had two stumps, left from before I bought the house, that I wanted removed. Jim came by at a convenient time and walked around the property with me, looking at the trees in question. I explained what I wanted done, and he priced me out. They had been running a "winter" special of 20% off, which he applied to my bill. I asked if he'd set aside some of the wood for me for the wood stove and he said he would, at no extra cost. He warned me they were booked for a few weeks, but since I was not in a hurry, that worked fine with me. I made the decision to go with Woodlawn, and was reminded that they wouldn't be able to schedule for a few weeks. I received a call saying they were ready to schedule me well within the expected time frame. The day it came, rain was in the forecast, but the crew came and got started anyway. It never did more than sprinkle, so they were able to get it all done. I was amazed at how quickly they worked, and with safety gear and everything. It was very impressive to watch. They not only left me some of the nicer cherry pieces, but even split it and left me a very nice stack of wood suitable for use in the wood stove. They cleaned up everything very nicely and I could not be more pleased with their work.

The work was done on time and all debris etc was removed. My only concern was that I asked the owner to call me re the health of my tree and I did not receive a call.

While we had to wait a while because they are busy and the weather has played havoc with their schedule it was WELL WORTH THE WAIT, They arrived on schedule and completed all of the agreed to work promptly and left the area exceptionally neat. The results look even better than what was envisioned when I executed the contract. Work involved cleaning out part of a large tree and trimming/shaping both large and small bushes.

This job could not have gone any better!!! I am very hard to please and this crew exceeded my every expectation.....they surgically removed 3 giant limbs over my house but most importantly directly over head of my apiary.....they finished , hauled away every scrap and then cleaned up 1000% satisfied. we got a 20% discount!

Pleased with the job. Make sure you call well in advance during the fall. They are busy.

We have used Woodlawn Tree Service several times in the past and found them to do a great job. First, Jim came and gave us an estimate and evaluated the situation. We have found that he is very knowledgeable and completely honest about the work that needs to be done, His evaluation is always right on target and we rely on his suggestions regarding landscaping, tree care and/or removal.. Next, the team that performs the job came to the site. They worked in perfect harmony while completing tasks that are very dangerous. Francisco was the foreman and communicated with us frequently making sure everything went as planned. He was very attentive to our needs and careful. He discussed the work as it progressed and made some changes as needed. For example, after pruning some of the overgrown bushes they continued to be a problem, so we decided to remove them. He spoke with the office, got an okay and then removed them. He worked it into his schedule for our convenience.. He made sure everyone was safe and placed exactly where they needed to be. The work is difficult and arduous, but everything went very smoothly and efficiently. At the end of the day, they did a very good job of cleaning up the debris from the job, even blowing sawdust, leaves and sticks off the roof. A couple of days later they came back to remove the stumps. They had to squeeze into some small spaces to reach the stumps, but removing those trees and stumps really opened up the landscape and let so much more light in the house. One tree was only a few feet from the house and was causing damage to the roof, gutters and an adjacent wall. Another tall cherry tree was leaning OVER the house and when cut down was completely rotted inside. We are relieved to have all them away from the house, especially with hurricane season approaching.

Jim was exceptionally honest with me and conveyed that no pruning was required for another 2-3 years. While he admittedly talked himself out of a job, I assured him that his honest approach undoubtedly earned him my business in years to come. I will gladly use (and refer him) his services in the future. I was very impressed with his expertise and integrity.

They take down trees and prune trees. They’re excellent. The big tree that they took down was almost 6 ft. in diameter and weighed 40 tons. They were extremely professional. The work they do is crazy dangerous. They were well insured. They know what they’re doing so I didn’t have to secure and wonder if someone was going to be killed in my yard or my house was going to be hit by an 80,000-pound tree. They were doing something that was risky and complicated. I would recommend them to anybody. They probably cost more than others did but you get what you pay for.

It went perfect. They showed up on time for the estimate and for when they did the work. They did what they said they were going to do.

Ceaser showed up as promised and ground the stump up leaving the area just the way I wanted it.

The crew arrived as scheduled and did the work completely as specified. All work was done in an excellent manner. They fully removed the magnolia stump as specified. All of the yard was cleaned up and left in good shape.

Crew arrived on time. And they performed in a timely manner.

I got estimates from several companies and pricing came in about the same. I chose Woodlawn as they came out promptly to do the estimate when they said they would, and their knowledge and advice about the trees matched that of another arborist. We had to wait about 3 weeks for them to actually be able to do the work, but it seems that most of the good companies are very busy right now. Our work was not urgent so it was no problem to wait. A team of about 5 men with 2 big trucks came to do the work. They turned up on time and were friendly, polite and worked efficiently. They did the work as agreed and did an excellent job cleaning up - it was like they had never been here.

Initial response to get estimate was good. Work was supposed to be completed in two weeks, but they did not schedule the job until 5 weeks. On they day they were supposed to be here I kept trying to get detailed time for when they would show up but I could not get information and the girl in the office kept putting me off, promised call back( twice) and never did. The crew finally showed up late in the day and did a great job. Work was done professionally and they cleaned up before they left. I was frustrated because I had to be here all day and I could have done other things that day if they could provide better schedule information.

They are absolutely outstanding. The owner is James Nelson and he runs a first-class service. He is extremely professional and takes every safety precaution. He has the latest equipment and the latest training for his guys. I am always extremely comfortable with them. They are one top-rate business. The top of my neighbor's Oak tree had come down on one of my Oak trees and Mr. Nelson was right here. It took them all day but they lowered every limb down with ropes and were very careful of the surrounding trees and property. Mr. Nelson runs a top-notch company. He is a certified arborist and trained tree specialist. They are priced a bit higher than others. They did my ornamental trees and the maple tree at no charge.

It took several weeks to get the work done, as they waited until they had other work in the area, which most likely is the way they keep prices down. The stump removal had to wait another week, as the stump grinder was in for repair. Overall, I was very happy with the service provided, although I would suggest they respond to phone calls more quickly.

They were very good. I liked them. They perpetually tied up all the Cyprus trees and I was satisfied with their work. I would recommend their tree work. They seemed to know what they were doing. They came and gave me an estimate. They were prompt and they came when they said they would. I didn't have any problems with them. In fact I'm thinking about getting them back again. I need some tree trimming done. Their price was fine.

All very personable and professional; very flexible; good price; perfect cleanup; sensitive to neighbours; and most importantly cut the trees and bushes carefully and leaving a very nice shape; very responsive; clearly lots of experience. They had done a radical cut back of a huge silver maple three years ago and the shape was the best its ever been. highly recommended.

Company was very responsive at first and provided a quick and low priced estimate for the work. I kept calling trying to schedule a day where they could do the work and they kept saying they were booked until the following month but could do it then. Eventually the scheduled day arrived, I took time off of work to observe their work. They never showed. I called them and they said that they could come the next day. So again I took time off from work. Some of the guys showed up and said they didn't have the proper truck to do the job so they'd have to come back. The third time I was not there and they just did the work. The work was not satisfactory as there are still large branches over the roof. I called the owner who said the job was done and they were not going to do anything else. The owner said the estimate was to cut branches but the estimate did not specify how much length was to be cut from the branches. He was not customer friendly and would do nothing to fix the poor job.

Excellent work, cleaned up nicely. This is the 2nd time we've used them, both have been very successful.
