Gary called me back and scheduled with me as soon as he could (within 1 1/2 days). He explained on the phone about his schedule, and he came over at the agreed upon time and date. I found him to be courteous, professional and honest. He found that the leak was coming from a faucet that we did not even know existed, in the garage. It was behind a bicycle stand, so it was obstructed from view. He also explained our options at that point. I liked that he laid out information on cost and benefit of deleting the faucet versus just leaving it alone. After opening up a portion of the wall in the garage around the faucet and inspecting the layout of pipes around the house, he said it is up to us, but he would probably recommend just leaving it so as to not cause unnecessary damage to the walls. I decided to leave the issue alone, since I can live with an unused faucet rather than drywall damage to an interior wall. But he said to call him it it ever became a problem, and he ran through some options we would look at if that became the case. He charged a very reasonable fee, and I found him to be attentive to the issue as well as in explaining different options. I liked that he gave his recommendation, but he would have gone with my preference. I highly recommend The Pipe Doctor for plumbing issues.

He was great! Right on time and price was what he said. He only suggested what actually needed to be done to fix the problem. I thought his price was very fair and would hire him again.

They were fine. It was a simple task. I probably could have done it myself, so it’s not really anything that I can really judge him on the work. One person came out.

I called him on Saturday afternoon and he was able to come to my house on Monday. Very quick service. He arrived on time and was very polite, professional and knowledgable. He quickly identified the problem and fixed it on the spot. The problem was not as extensive as I was afraid it would be, and the repair cost a lot less than I had imagined. He was honest in his evaluation of the amount of work that needed to be done. I would definitely hire him again whenever I need a plumber.

They were quick to diagnose problem pipe had burst due to cold weather. Were very informational to tell me what exactly happened, how they will fix and what I can do to avoid it again.

Late on a Friday night, I noticed that my water was only getting to a luke warm temperature. Fearing that my basement was flooding, I immediately when downstairs to check on my water heater and was relieved to see that a small amount of water had leaked from the bottom of it from what was clearly a rusty hole that signaled the death of my water heater. Fortunately it had already stopped leaking. Because it was not an emergency, I did not want to pay extreme rates for a 24/7 service to come and replace my water heater. So instead of I paid for an Angie's List coupon for a top rated water heater replacement. After trying to use an Angie's List coupon, but not getting a response until Monday that they could not help until the following week, I started calling other plumbing services directly (and cancelled that coupon). This is where The Pipe Doctor enters the scene. I left a brief voicemail with the business' phone number and I was promptly called back by Gary, the owner and apparent pipe doctor (I forgot to ask if it was an MD or PhD). Gary was courteous and extremely informative. He had me take pictures of the path from my door to the water heater so that he understood the needs of my living space, particularly as they relate to the diameter of a water heater (22"). In addition to the space, he had me take pictures of the existing water heater and he promptly noted that I had a heat pump water heater. Unfortunately that costs more than an ordinary water heater (by about $1000), but it is more efficient (but not quite as efficient as a tankless water heater). Having been told the difference, I recognized the difference between old water heaters that I have dealt with and the existing water heater, so I opted to maintain the same system at the higher cost. Gary also explained that Fairfax, the county that I live in, does not require a leak pan (my words; he used whatever it's really called), but the surrounding counties do. My basement area already has a floor drain for water, but the old water heater did not have a PVC guide (or otherwise) to get the water to it. I elected to pay $75 to have that installed and the peace of mind is totally worth it. Not only is he adept at calling people back, but he showed up promptly when he scheduled himself to arrive (Wednesday morning; I spoke to him on Monday). In fact, he was actually a few minutes early. He answered every question that I had along the way and he explained everything that he was going to charge me for upfront, rather than surprising me with a bill later. Helpfully, he also explained things that would be nice (aka smart) to buy if I had the budget, but that I did not have to actually do to be up to code. He also removed the existing water heater from the house with practically no help from me. The only thing that I helped with was providing towels and holding my self-shutting screen door open for him. The only ding that I would give Gary about the entire ordeal is that the PVC pipe for the drain that he installed was blocked by another PVC pipe that was already in my house, so he was only able to get the water heater's drainage pipe to the drain -- not in it. I will probably buy a 3-way PVC elbow connector to connect the existing pipe and the new pipe so that they both route into the drain more effectively. This is an incredibly minor gripe and it's just about further peace of mind. I still give him top marks even with it. The main reason that I will look past the incredibly minor issue, and look back to getting Gary's help for any unmanageable plumbing problems in the future, is that he helped to fix the handle on my screen door when he noticed it was loose! I did not have the appropriate size bit for the door and I had kept putting off the simple fix as a result. He noticed it and fixed it when the job was done. He volunteered to do it and I am incredibly thankful that he did it; such a small thing was actually quite annoying and he fixed it for me (at no charge).

Gary was punctual, professional, efficient and got the work done right. Very happy and would definitely use again.

We had two leaky faucets that needed repair or replacement. One in a bath tub and another in the kitchen. I notified him in advance of the brands, and he had the parts needed on the truck. He looked at both faucets, advised repairing them instead of replacing them, and provided an estimate. He worked quickly and made sure it was cleaned up after he was done. He provides a one year warranty for the work done. I had a last minute scheduling issue come up the night before the service call, and he was able to shift my appointment to come later in the day. He called in advance to let me know he was on his way, and arrived on time. So far I'm happy with the work and would hire him again. In hind sight, as quick as the repairs were, the price may have been a little high - but I don't know how much the parts needed to repair the two faucets cost, so it's hard to say what the hourly rate would have worked out to be.

Gary is very responsive and was upfront about cost and timeline for parts that needed to be ordered. He's the owner and sole employee, so even though a repeat visit was necessary, he knew the situation and took care of it perfectly. Much better than the constantly revolving technicians we've encountered with other providers.

i had originally had someone else come in but due to the shockingly high price i called the pipe doctor. gary said he was full up with previous appointments but we talked some more and he said he could come by but it wouldn't be until later that afternoon, which was fine with me. he came by when he said he would, and cleared the clog for $400. i still think that was high but it was over $200 less than the other company was going to charge me so i was pretty pleased. gary was very professional and i would definitely call hm again for any plumbing needs.

Great job. This was not an emergency, but Gary came out same day and gave an honest and helpful assessment of our issue (mostly, old pipes). He did snake the two drains that were partially blocked. I would absolutely call him again for any plumbing issues.

I received great service from the first phone call. At his request I sent photos of the space where the heater was located, and he determined price from those pics and description of the unit being replaced. I felt the price was fair due to the tight space where he had to operate, and the great customer service from start to finish. Would definitely use his services again. In the attached photos, the dead tan heater was replaced with the new gray one.

Gary quickly responded to our service need and fixed the problem promptly and inexpensively. Friendly, communicative, and technically expert.

Good work; annoying sales technique

The tech snaked the drain and noted that there was likely a bigger issue going on. The snaking started a chain reaction which led to us uncovering a shattered pipe in the concrete floor. The tech stayed later to speak with condo management and staff. We discovered that the pipe had been cracked and seeping water for years without our knowledge. Ultimately the condo association paid for the costly pipe replacement and floor replacement. Thankful to the tech who stuck around to communicate with management company.

Gary had a very full schedule, but was nice enough to find time to fit in my plumbing work. He called to confirm and he showed up on time. The fix was pretty easy and he was very professional...... I gave a "B" for price... but, I always think plumbing costs too much. His prices were slightly lower than the last plumber I had out.
