This guy, Ricky Rojas, claims he is an arborist. He is not an arborist, he is a BUTCHER. His business card says 30 years experience. But before hiring him it would be more useful to know how many trees he has DESTROYED and KILLED in 30 years of and quot;experience.and quot; He was hired to trim roof-overhanging branches from a large maple. He lopped off almost half the tree canopy. The tree has two main trunks and he left one of them with NO leaf cover at all -- just an enormous now-naked trunk, jutting up into the sky. The cuts he made violate every rule that even an uninformed homeowner can read on tree pruning, offered in books and all over the internet. He advocated and quot;toppingand quot; the tree. I said no. But he topped about half the tree, anyway. Even Fairfax County's web site emphasizes: and quot;Toppingand quot; of trees is perhaps the most harmful pruning practice known. By removing a large portion of the tree's upper leaves, new problems can be created. Topped trees are more likely to suffer from stress and become vulnerable to sun damage, insects, disease and storms.and quot; This uneducated, dangerous man has no business in the tree business! If you hire him, you're throwing away good money because his and quot;workand quot; results in having to hire someone who knows, and actually cares about, what they're doing -- to repair the damage and SAVE the tree!
