After a very thorough discussion of the cost to repair, I decided not to repair. However, the salesman had a machine on sale that cost the same as the estimated repair costs. There was no pressure and all questions were answered. So I bought a new machine.

Very well. Cleaned and back in working order.

Wonderful experience. The problem was fixed in a timely fashion and the vacuum received an overdue tune-up at the same time. The vacuum works beautifully now (and makes the rooms smell good, too!). Many thanks to Robert Hines for his patience in explaining what needed to be done and his consideration toward us.

Great experience as I was shown all of the options and actually steered towards a lesser expensive model as my home needs did not warrant all the bells and whistles! Very honest and no pressure. Plus it is a locally owned store which we all should support more!

We decided to go with a new Miele vacuum. Robert was extremely helpful in helping us select a model to suit our needs, and beyond patient in explaining all of the settings. Thanks, Robert!

He analyzed the problem within a few days as promised, described the problem to me, and recommended that I not repair the machine but instead pay a little more to get a new Pfaff machine. Because of his professional manner, skill at listening to me, and the strong reviews online, I feel very comfortable getting and accepting this advice. I very much appreciated his willingness to provide sound advice and the demonstration he gave me about what the new machine can do.

I had purchased a central vacuum system from Sun Sew vacuum over 10 years ago. The hose that has both high voltage and low voltage going through it to control the power head stopped working. I was ready to purchase a new hose and power head for $500+. Sun Sew suggested looking at the old hose and was able to repair the hose connection. Wonderful service and honesty.

I purchased a Pfaff 4.0 used through ebay. It arrived in terrible condition. The shipper had turned the box over and over it appeared. The thread cutter worked sometime and not other times. The seller had said the machine had just been serviced but apparently that was not the case. Robert fixed and replaced needed parts as necessary. The price was fantastic and I could not be more pleased with the service. I took the machine to Sun Sew Vac on Wednesday and Robert had if all fix for me and ready to go on Friday. The ladies also were very helpful in giving great directions on the best way to get to the shop. Everyone is super friendly and helpful.

I originally brought in two vacuum cleaners that had been highly recommended and allegedly designed for vacuuming pet hair. I have two, long-coat, double coated dogs. Both had jammed within six months of doing what was initially a fairly good job at vacuuming my rugs and floors. After putting down a deposit for repair on each, they called me to tell me that repair would cost nearly as much as I had spent on either one. I was naturally reticent about paying that much for a vacuum, but after researching models, I bought a $700 upright Miele. Vacuuming has become heaven for me, even with all mud that my dogs have tracked into the house during this awful winter. To their credit, Sun Sew Vac did not try to sell me the top of the line "pet hair" Miele. The owner told me that he had dogs and that the next level one worked just fine on his pet hair problems. This is a fine retailer, and I would recommend then to anyone.

With all the positive reviews here I wasn't surprised at how thorough and quickly the work was done on both machines! Robert gave me valuable advice on how to keep my machines in good condition and the appropriate use of presser feet, stabilizers, and the type of prewound bobbins to use! The staff is friendly and helpful. The take the extra step of ordering any supplies you may need that are not presently in the store although the store stocks an amazing supply of everything you would want or need! They offer some of the most reasonably priced classes in the area. Their instructors are top notch! I attended a class on using the Grand Dream Hoop and after the class I was very confident in its use! Sewing/Embroidery machines have become so full featured that it is nice to have that kind of support in order to get the most from your machine! It doesn't get much better than this!

As soon as Mr. Hines determined the problem, he took me to his work bench to explain what the problem was . By the time my 3 hour class was done, my machine had been fixed, tested by Mr. Hines and myself. Mr. Hines had to replace a part that he had in stock. I feel extremely lucky to have such a considerate person to work on my sewing machines. I drive over 100 miles to attend classes at his store and to purchase my sewing machines from him. Awesome job! I would recommend Robert Hines and Sun Sew VAC to everyone! He is a great salesman; considerate of what the customer wants to spend and the needs of the customer are important to him. Robert Hines is a great sewing machine repair man.

After several months of working with the manufacture to resovle the machine's problems, Robert went toe to toe with the manufacturer on my behalf, in addition to the machine not functioning properly, it now was cracked. Robert contacted a number of people within the company and insisted that they replace the machine with a new one. I received a new sewing machine with many upgrades that my previous machine did not have. I was stunned, speechless really, that he would take such good care of me. Robert and his staff, are genuine, honest people who will tell you the truth about the repairs necessary and the costs. Sun Sew Vac is the only place I will take my sewing machines or vacuum cleaners for repair.

They could have charged us much more to put the system back together but the pricing was very fair and reasonable. Communication and service throughout the process was great! And now we have a beautiful new cleaning system guaranteed for life. We highly recommend this business. You will not go wrong using SunSewVac!

This company keeps my old Brother sewing machine and vacuum cleaners is great repair--they can fix anything, and they carry parts for all brands. They also sell sewing machines and vacuums. And offer speciality classes for sewers, like quilting. The owner is an excellent craftsman, and charges fair prices.

Sewing machine repair is a lost art. So I used Angie's List to find someone who still preforms this service. Sure enough, there were a few listing, but the closest to my home was SUN SEW-n-VAC on Richmond Hwy in Alexandria. They also had good reviews from Angie's List members. I have an old Kenmore sewing machine (30yrs or more). I wanted to mend a few items and when I tried using it, I knew right away that something wasn't right. I took it in to Sun Sew-n-Vac the next weekend and explained what was happening when I tried sewing. I explained I really did not want to purchase one of those newer machines that are all plastic and was assured that a good cleaning was all it probably needed. I paid a $30. deposit (would be added-in with the final payment) Robert Hines called me before any work was done to explain the issues and what he could do to get up running. All the machine needed was to be cleaned thoroughly. He would need to take it completely apart to apply the cleaning solutions and let it sit overnight to make sure all of the gunk was dissolved. I just used it and everything is working just fine.

i have been using SSV for 10 years now. Robert, the owner and main mechanic is knowledgeable and delightful. he has two women seamstress working for him that are in on a limited basis but they are FABULOUS at instruction and a wealth of information. anyone there will stop and talk you through a problem or help you figure out what machine you really need. i have since moved away, about 40 miles and will still only go to Robert and his team to service my machines or upgrade in any way i need.

I stopped by Sun Sew Vac to find out how to use the embroidery feature on my Pfaff. Since purchasing it about 18 months ago I have not had time to take the classes which are included with the purchase. Judy and Donna, kidded me about trying to figure it from the manual and told me I needed to come in and take the classes. Judy, had the "class book" and found a slot for me with one on one time with the instructor. I asked about the best needles for embroidery, inquiring about the titanium in particular, Judy, although a seamstress, does not embroidery with her machine, turned to one of the regular customers and said "You're are the embroidery king, what is the difference between the titanium and the regular needles?" He explained they last a bit longer, stay sharp a bit longer; he also explained that when using metalic thread a totally different needle is needed. It was a friendly, pleasant, happy exchange - it felt like community! I bought some new needles and thread and thanked them all for their help and can't wait to see them for the class.

I jammed my sewing machine up something awful a few weeks ago, and once I got all the thread dislodged, I couldn't get my needle to pick up my bobbin thread. Sun Sew Vac quickly diagnosed the problem (the machine timing was all off as result of my disastrous last sewing project). Machine was fixed less than 48 hours after I brought it in for the price initially quoted. Will be back for tune-ups but hopefully no more repairs!

Overcharged by one salesperson and given information that did not match the fact when checked online; had to go back to have it adjusted by another without any problems but the inconvenience with having to deal with the issue.

They are very professional. For the brushes, they charge only $9 a piece and as far as the hose, it was a little over $100. I keep going back to them because they did a good job when they came and fixed the central vac system. The owner is very nice, very personable and very professional. The price seemed reasonable. When I had the system put in a long time ago, they were here when they were supposed to be.

I have had them do a number of other work for over 10 years. They are very reliable and do a professional job. I will continue to use them. Robert is very reliable.

By all rights, this repair should have been much higher. Sewing machine was given to me by my husband 39 years ago. In 1973 he bought this machine from the old Spiegel catalog and was my FIRST Christmas gift from him. I did use it off and on and I had stopped. I wanted to hand this down to one of my children as an heirloom. I went to another repair shop and they had refused to fix and suggested I purchase new. Not what I wanted to do. Sun Sew Vac did not treat me in this manner but listened with concern and understanding. This machine is now a beautiful rebuilt REAL and quot;Classicand quot; and runs like a dream and it is not PLASTIC. METAL! THANKS to Sun Sew Vac for returning a beauty from the past. With it being so old it was amazing the repair could even be accomplished but it was. The repair was fast (two day turnaround) being it was in such poor shape! They took the time, effort and preformed quality. They called me twice, explained in detail what was wrong, to be assured I was ok with the cost and steps of the repair. So if you are concerned don't be. Go here and KNOW you are being treated fairly. I know they worked MORE time then charged. This machine was a beast to repair, and they returned to me a beauty!
