I called Sherman's. Bob answered the phone and said he preferred not to come out to Oakton from Alexandria, He offered to walk me through the repair on the phone so I could do it myself. That's exactly what he did. He was patient and knowledgeable, always offering to come out if I got in over my head. He even told me where to get the parts I needed. I called him back at one point. He gave me more advice and encouragement and I finished the job. Bob saved me over $1000 and never made a penny off me! He's a straight shooter but I like that! I will use him again when it's time to replace my whole system. It's like having my Dad there to do it with me.

I paid almost $8K to replace my furnace and A/C in june. When removing old furnace & A/C, the Mr. Sherman and his workers removed the deep sink as interference. After installing the new furnace & A/C, the contractor failed to properly install the deep sink. The drain leaked until Mr. Sherman returned weeks later. He made a temporary repair, that failed a second time the next day. When he returned to service the new system, he wouldn’t correct the deep sink drain that he removed. Sherman's left the mechanical room a mess after installing new system. Note: Unlike some other heating installation contractors, Mr. Sherman required full payment at time of installation instead of 2/3 up front with balance after 2-weeks once system worked correctly.

Sherman's Heating and AC has been my service provider since owning the home in 2009. Once we decided it was time to replace our almost 30 year system, we had Sherman's come out for a quote. The quote was quick and painless with no hard sells. Nothing but the facts and his professional opinion regarding the systems he sold and recommendations based on our requirements. We were left with some information to make our decisions. Less than two weeks later we arranged for the install on Monday 6/2. He came out in the morning (~7a) and was done around 3p or so. During the install, he would take the time to answer any questions I had and as I watched the work being done, I was very impressed with the quality and attention to detail by the installers. After a thorough demonstration of the system and programming of the thermostat, I was left with a quiet and efficient Heating and AC system. While Sherman's Heating and AC provides top-notch service at reasonable rates, they can be a bit rough around the edges. I, personally, do not mind this; however, if you're expecting the technician to slip on white over boots over their shoes to limit dirt in your house, you may want to call someone else. If you want straight answers from very knowledgeable folks with quick response times and reasonable rates, then Sherman's Heating and AC is your best bet in the Alexandria, VA vicinity.

Several years ago, Bob also discovered that our furnace flue was choked with leaves, exposing us to possible carbon monoxide buildup. After cleaning the flue, he made us promise to get a carbon monoxide detector.
