Select Kitchen & Bath

Overall it was a great experience! I had some basic ideas in mind regarding the color scheme and tile. The folks at Select Kitchen and Bath (Rick, Diane and David, et al) designed a beautiful kitchen for me. Thanks to the cabinet design, I have more functional cabinet space than before. Even though I have a small unit, they managed to fit in a lazy susan that provides so much more functionality. All their recommendations for appliances, sink, etc. I incorporated without any regret. It looks fabulous. Even those folks that are not close friends, have exclaimed their compliments when they see the kitchen. Eddie did a fabulous job on the actual installation. The kitchen area was sealed off so that no dust or dirt got into the rest of the condo. This was the first time I ever had to hire a contractor and thanks to Select Kitchen and Bath it was a great experience. They were very accessible, professional and really cared about the quality of their work. They were very patient regarding all my questions and quickly resolved the few minor concerns that I had. I felt that they were truly concerned about, and committed to, providing quality service, on time and within budget. They have my highest recommendation. Thanks, guys!

Select Kitchen and Bath did a superb job on remodeling our master bathroom, and we highly recommend them to others for remodeling projects. Rick and his team were very patient in developing our bathroom design, and were responsive to all the new ideas we came up with. The craftsmanship of Select's workers is outstanding. We now have the most beautiful shower I have ever seen. There were no surprises on budget; Select charged us what they bid the project. During construction, I asked for several small changes to the plan, and the team first informed me of the associated costs, and got my approval before proceeding. They also cleaned up every day to minimize disruption to the family. The bathroom turned out better than what we had hoped for. People have remarked that the remodeled bathroom has increased the value of our home more than what we paid for it.

Select could not have been more delightful to work with. From the start, working with Rick and David to assess and come up with an estimate was both fun and easy. David created several innovative designs and was able to take my requested changes and update the design each time. I felt like he had my back as far as being realistic, yet creative, about the project. When the design was handed over to David's interior design person, Devin, the great experience continued. I had a ball shopping with Devin. He really helped me to find tile, cabinet, counter, and paint colors that work together harmoniously. I am easily overwhelmed by the many choices out there, so it was so, so helpful to have someone with me who knew what he was doing. Every time I walk in the kitchen, I smile at how well it came together. The contracting part of the project also went very smoothly. Select pulled all the permits and they got started exactly when they said they would. Our project manager, Ray, responded to every question & request in a timely manner. Hector, our main contractor, showed up every single day - I never had to wonder about anything. Every day, I'd look in on the kitchen and see real progress made. It was really fun to see the changes each day. I work mostly in the afternoon & evening, so I was home through much of the process. I'm also not an early riser, so it was weird for me to have people in so early every day. Fortunately, Ray & Hector are funny, nice people, so they were never any trouble to have around. I also felt totally comfortable in my house, even when it was full of people. Cooking is one of my passions, so I am overjoyed to have such a beautiful space to work in. The kitchen is functional, comfortable, and beautiful. That's what everyone wants at the end of a project, right? I cannot recommend Select more highly. After hearing so many contracting nightmares, I feel like I hit the kitchen remodel jackpot. If you're looking for a great company to work with, call them. You won't be disappointed.

The experience was great. This is actually our 2nd kitchen remodel with Select and we were very pleased. In the planning stages, we received a ton of help with our design and what would work best for the space, including some creative solutions to issues that came up during the project. In addition to that, Select always worked with us to make sure that we stayed within our budget. We had some glitches and problems along the way (what project doesn't), but they were always dealt with immediately and to our satisfaction. If we called Select with a problem, we were called back right away and the problem was fixed; we even had guys out at our house to address an issue at 8am on a Saturday morning- their day off! Select Kitchen made this process as easy and painless as a complete kitchen remodel can be. We love our new space and are so pleased that we went with Select!

The bathroom is rather small, so the design was a bit difficult to work with. Select Kitchen, however, listened very carefully, and provided everything I wanted. What beautiful work. This bathroom now looks light, airy and extremely pleasing to the eye. It is now very functional and really does look stunning. The white marble tile, the glass shower doors, the ultra modern fixtures. Jamie, the installer is an extremely pleasant and hard working individual, and continuously payed close attention to detail. He arrived every morning on time, worked very diligently throughout the day, and was a pleasure to have in the house. I would recommend him and this company without hesitation, and would hire them again for other projects.

I can't say enough good things about Select. My kitchen is beautiful - exactly what I wanted. I love working in it - it is so much more user friendly than my old kitchen. My first contact was with Rick Kimmel. I was getting cabinets through a source other than Select and just didn't know how to start. Rick spent about 45 minutes on the phone with me getting me out of my paralyzed state going in the right direction - all without any commitment from me at that point. I knew then what a fantastic company they were!! Rick along with Diana Runyon worked with me offering advice and counsel. The first thing they asked me was where had I planned to set up an alternative kitchen. A very important question and one I'd not thought about at all. So I set one up in my dining room. I had wanted to move my refrigerator to the garage. I was worried about the floors. Rick talked me out of that - thank goodness - they padded my dining room floor and moved it there where I set up my makeshift kitchen with roaster, microwave and crock pot. Otherwise I would have been schlepping to the other side of the house to retrieve refrigerated items. Rick really knows what he is doing so listen to him. Everyone I encountered was very professional and all provided me with business cards. Even the billing person called me to introduce herself and gave me a phone number where I could contact her directly if need be then sent me her business card. Ray Collins who over saw the job was always available by phone or by e-mail as was Mark Dobbins who did most of the installation. I was always made to feel that my call and my questions were important and never rushed or brushed off. Once the job was completed, Ray and Rick both called me to see how I was enjoying my kitchen and told me if at any time there was a problem to call them and they would make it right. I'm so very glad I went with them. They really made a remodel that could have been a potential nightmare into a dream.

There were some problems with the backsplash which wasn't their fault. We had temporary backsplashes and so, they had to come back to replace one panel. We found them on Angie's List and their work was basically good. They worked well with our architects. The architects and the builders were good partners which was a nice experience. They were timely but they could have been a little more tidier. We have lived elsewhere in the country and the contractor that did the whole interior of our house was tidier, which were my standards. They weren't very messy and they were careful. They laid down protection on our hardwood floors and things like that but they did not pick up hundred percent after themselves every day. The whole kitchen project including the appliances and everything was about $100,000. I am using them again for a small powder room. I may or may not use them but would get extra bids and look around for major master bath renovations.

The overall work went pretty well. The project started out better than it finished. We got all the major work done and then there was a lot of minor work left over. I do not know if it was our issue or the company’s issue, may be we went overtime, but things worked out pretty good. We are pretty happy with the bathrooms. We would consider using their service in the future.

Overall, we are thrilled with our new bathroom. From start to finish Select was extremely professional to work with and we felt like we were in good hands the entire way. Select is not the cheapest contractor around, but we decided to go with them versus other cheaper options because we felt that we would get what we paid for. That was definitely the case. I would really like my B score for their Price to be an A- because I'm very satisfied with the overall experience. We ended up having expensive taste in fixtures/cabinetry, which increased the total price some over their initial proposal. They were extremely prompt in scheduling our initial site visit, they offered helpful suggestions as to improvements to the space. This was our first remodel and we didn't really have a good idea of what we wanted or needed. Select suggested improvements such as adding a hotel shelf to increase storage space and moving switches and outlets to make them better accessible. They carefully walked us through their proposal step by step to ensure everyone had a common understanding of everything. The vendors Select typically works with were very professional and made helpful suggestions about tile color patterns and cabinetry. They worked very well with Select to ensure that everything we expected to get in the items we picked out worked together. I can't emphasize enough how professional their installation service was. The Project manager was in constant contact with us to make sure we were happy with the work. The installer showed up everyday as planned and worked all day, making measurable progress. We both work during the day, and they made it very easy for us to not have to be home while the installer was present. They even took the time to put up a plastic wall in our bedroom to ensure our things wouldn't get dusty. All told the bathroom took about 2 weeks from start to finish to be 95% complete (usable). They had to return a couple days the following week to touch up some things etc, but it was a very fast, very efficient process. We were so happy with Select that they will be doing another bathroom for us in the fall, and we're also thinking about some other projects in the coming year(s). I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

They were very professional and very detailed oriented. What we loved is that they gave us shopping, list because we went and got some of their supplies ourselves and we can get a better prices on and we used compare notes and they would tell us where they could get a better discount. That is how we worked. They are currently working on the second bathroom right now and they have finished one. We could consider them for other projects as well and get other quotes too.

They dismantled the ceramic shower and replaced the tiles and hardware. They did a beautiful job. They were on time and on budget, just as promised.

We are very happy with our new bathroom and were very, very satisfied with our experience with Select Kitchen and Bath. We had used Select for some work in the past and called them again when we decided to remodel our main bath. Rick made great suggestions and pointed us to tile and cabinet suppliers who were very easy to work with and helped pinpoint just what we wanted from a vast selection. We were extremely pleased with our installer, John. John was always punctual and extremely polite; and he provided us with ideas when there were options. He left the work area clean and straightened up when he left each evening. We will certainly call Select again when it's time for another project, and we hope that John can come back!

After getting a few estimates for our kitchen remodeling we chose Select based on the good impression we had of them and because the estimate listed every conceivable item that would be required in the process while keeping a realistic budget. Besides wanting to start from scratch on the design of the kitchen we also had some concerns about areas that weren't insulated properly allowing cold and/or hot air entering from the outside along with critters having access to the soffits. We also have pets and a toddler which they kept in mind by keeping everything very clean throughout the whole process. Their design team worked closely with our vision and had some great suggestions which complimented it. They removed the old kitchen down to the studs, repaired substandard construction, fixed insulation issues and even sealed off an area where critters most likely had access from the outside. We had hard wood floors installed which they did an amazing job of matching to the wood in the adjoining room. They installed cabinets we selected from one of the lines they offered along glass tile from a company they work with. We purchased the appliances and hardware with their guidance. Every aspect of the project went smoothly and the few times that something needed to be adjusted they let us know about it and we had the option of adding a change order or leaving it as is. They never made any assumptions and kept us up to date on the progress. The lead installer John was always polite, courteous and an amazing worker. The communication from the business and scheduling folks was punctual and friendly. For the few aspects that involved other workers and/or companies, we were always impressed that they had the same high standards and cleanliness as the Select crew. I really can't speak highly enough about them. The whole process was fantastic and we love our new kitchen. In the future when we are ready to remodel our bathrooms, they will be the first ones we will call! Thanks!

I identified this contractor on Angies List having read all the reports. They were excellent. The design was excellent, the material selection assistance was excellent, the installation was excellent. These guys managed everything so that there was never down time or a missed day waiting for parts and specialists. When they were ready for the plumber, for example, he appeared on schedule. Finally the workmanship is exceptional.

Overall a good experience. Team was professional and punctual and there were no issues taking care of minor changes as they came up. They had to deal with one defective sink (drain would not seal) and one defective toilet. They did a great job copying the tile design from one room to one of the bathrooms.

I spent months researching just what I wanted for my new kitchen. I had a notebook filled with photos with notes on each page about what I did and did not like. My main criteria was a stunning design as I began looking for a company to create my kitchen. My son, who owns a construction company in another city, stressed that the most important thing is to find a quality contractor since a picture cannot be created without a top notch contractor. I attended seminars, searched the web, and interviewed several companies. I chose Select because they were the most highly rated, had all the proper paperwork, assurances and licenses right up front, listened to me, and came up with a design that incorporated my preferences. Rick Kimmel is an excellent salesman and responded to my 300 emails promptly, and he and Kent incorporated my demanding avant garde lighting plans into the kitchen design. David Bynside was brought in as a designer with Devin Byrnside as the color and style man. They patiently designed and redesigned and tweaked the plans to make sure they were perfect before we started construction. When colors and finishes were needed Devin's unfailing eye for color and style was invaluable as I searched for just the right granite, hardware and wall colors. The project manager for the job was Ray Collins who truly devoted himself to the project. I can't say enough about what a fine man and manager Ray is. He was the key to making it all perfect. I am very high maintenance and he responded to every challenge and always made it right. He listened to my every concern and fixed it. For example, he worked endlessly to make sure the above cabinet lighting was just the right color tone and also custom designed and installed little baffles to hide the inner cabinet hinges that I didn't like seeing through the glass. The craftsmanship of Orlando and Hector and Mario was beautiful. The result is stunningly beautiful. I am also surprised how functional the kitchen is. I frankly don't "see" it so much anymore---I just enjoy being in the kitchen. It is a total pleasure to work and hang out there. I am so grateful to all the Select team: Rick, Kent, Ray, Orlando, Mario, Hector and others, with David and Devin as their super secret weapons.

Rick came over for his estimate and was very patient with our suggestions and actually came up with the design of our Master Bathroom that was different than what we originally thought. We took his advice and guidance and we are glad that we did! John did most of the heavy lifting and the result was a Master Bath that will enjoy for years to come.

I worked with Rick, David and Devon for the design and they did a terrific job coming up with a design that was perfect for me (that I wouldn't have even though of myself). They were very responsive throughout the entire process and were completely professional. John performed almost all of the carpentry work and did a beautiful job. As the remodel took up the majority of the main floor of my home, it could have been very invasive; however, John's professionalism and respect for our space made it as pleasant of an experience as possible. Kent was the overall project manager, and did a great job making sure everything ran smoothly. Overall, I am very pleased with my experience with the company and would definitely work with them again.

Our experience with Select was fantastic from start to finish. The estimator met with us to determine what we wanted to do and helped us decide between different alternatives. He then delivered a detailed estimate within our budget and walked us through what to expect during the process. He stayed in touch with us during the renovation and offerred very helpful suggestions as to distributors we could work with to select our appliances, tile, etc. (and everyone he suggested was great too). The employees arrived each day on time, answered all our questions and kept us apprised of how things were going schedule-wise (when the cabinets would be delivered, what they would have done by the end of the week, etc.), made sure to clean up at the end of each day, and took care to minimize the disruption to our family during the renovation process. They were also great with our two young kids who loved to watch them each morning before school. The finished product is fantastic. Towards the end of the project they walked through with us and made sure to take care of every last detail. We have used other contractors in the past but received the best quality and customer service, by far, from Select. We will use them for any future renovations and recommend them without reservation.

From start to finish the experience with Select was excellent. If you don't have time to read my whole report, then this sums it up: excellent workmanship,excellent design, on time, pleasant, professional, willing to go above and beyond. I just wanted to start gathering information to redo our 27 year old kitchen and I called Select after seeing good reports on Angie's List. Rick came out and David, who does the cabinetry and layout design had a free appointment time so they both came. After an hour and a half or so we had come up with a great design for the kitchen with new elements I hadn't thought of. David emailed me the plans right away so we could think some more and I could email them to my husband in Baghdad. When I got other estimates from other companies,they wouldn't release the plans until we put down a deposit so I couldn't talk things over with my husband and let him see the possibilities. I did get other estimates and solicited other design ideas but really found the other ones to be not what I was looking for. I felt like they didn't put much thought into the plan they presented. Select is not the least expensive of the estimates but after the research I did on the work I wanted done, I think their price was fair and there were so many positives about working with them. I loved the plan that David, Rick and I worked out. Both have been doing this for a long time so they had a lot of ideas and also could say what would , what wouldn't and what might work, often these were things that I would not have thought of. Rick is very methodical and also saw many potential pitfalls and had many great suggestions. I could email both of them with another idea and get a response almost immediately. So we went with the plan that got rid of a small island, instead has a peninsula and a new glass cabinet on one side of the room to showcase my glassware collection. I really liked that the whole process with Select is very clear- when each part of the payment is due, the cost of each part is very clear and it didn't change except when new item or work was added . The design process was really facilitated by David and his son Devin who was key to the outcome. Devin met me on many Saturdays and helped pick out flooring, tile, counter top and wall color. I had bought four sample cans of paint to find the right color and none worked. Devin looked at his color samples and picked out the right color immediately and he found the tile that I would have walked by. David's advice on the cabinets was great -some were glass and some not, I wanted mostly drawers, he advised a pullout spice cabinet and one for the trash. Rick suggested that better lighting would really make a difference since we could not add windows and he was right, it has. Then the work began. Kent took over as the project manager and he was also really great to work with. It's a long process but Sameh and all the men who worked on the job were clean, on time, pleasant . Kent would let me know if they would not work that day or if the schedule had changed. This was very much appreciated by my college age daughter who would be trying to study and manage a puppy! One of the best measures of how good a company is, is how they handle the things that inevitably go wrong. Our walls turned out to be very crooked so they had to reorder cabinets and do some creative carpentry to make the molding look good. They did this without holding up the project more than a few days and the end result looks wonderful. The other problem was the granite counter top. I would advise more time to look for the piece of granite that you want. I had had my heart set on a sample piece that had my favorite colors in it. But really I had to settle for what was available on the day we went to look. There was nothing I liked so we went to another place and they had a piece that we went with but was not what I had hoped for. So I realize that the granite company won't hold a piece forever but I would still look a little sooner.Then the counter top people made a cut that they shouldn't have. David oversees the installation and he told them that that part of the counter top should only be one piece. So they took it back and delivered the new piece a few days later but the new piece was not the right color so they had to take it back again. When I delivered the bad news that the piece was wrong, as in everything else, there is never any balking on the part of Kent or David. If you say you want something a certain way , that is all it takes to get it done the way you want. Of course these glitches held things up but Kent really worked hard to minimize the hold up and rescheduled the workers so that things could move along as fast as possible. Sameh is a wonderful craftsman, even with the uneven walls, the kitchen looks great. He paid attention to every detail and it is right down to the smallest part. The work included: laying hardwood floor, installing the cabinets, tiling the back splash, and it all is beautifully done. So the kitchen was finished and I had been trying to get the family room painted before my husband came home from Baghdad so it would all look great. I had a terrible time getting the old wallpaper off. I realized it would take me forever so I asked Kent for an estimate and also when was the soonest they could do it since my husband was coming home in 10 days. He said they could start it the next day and would finish on Saturday. I couldn't believe it. So thanks to them I got the room painted before my husband's homecoming so he was greeted with a beautiful new kitchen and fresh family room. I can't praise Select enough for their excellent workmanship, professional, responsive and pleasant customer service. We will be remodeling our bathrooms next and I will call them first.

The gentleman I spoke to was very professional. He contacted me less than 48 hours from the time I sent Select a message via Angie's List. Based on information I provided him regarding our bathrooms over the phone and our budget, he was honest and told me that they probably would not be a good match for our timeline and budget. I would have been content with just that and appreciated his straightforwardness. Then, he went above and beyond. Knowing that it was my first-time dealing with contractors, he offered some wonderful advice for selecting a contractor and tips on what to ask so I wouldn't get ripped off by others. He answered all of the questions I had in my naivete. I was thoroughly impressed by his wonderful customer service even though he knew I wouldn't be hiring them.

Outstanding service and outstanding work! Thorough and meticulous. On-budget and on-schedule. Very professional and very responsive. The Best Contractor I Have Ever Used!

We had a very positive experience with Select Kitchen and Bath, and we would enthusiastically recommend them to others. We saw nothing but professionalism, courtesy, and competence from Hector (backsplash and countertop install) and Mario (countertop install and painting). And we send special compliments to our lead carpenter, Endor, whose tireless efforts and special skills were instrumental to making the master bath we envisioned in our heads appear before our eyes. Additionally, his warm personality and conscientiousness in securing our house each day before leaving made us very grateful to have him on the job. Many thanks also to Rick (co-owner) and Diana, whose design ideas and helpful suggestions along the way were essential to the project's success. Additionally, we greatly appreciated the project management work done by Kent Kitchens (co-owner), who was very responsive to our questions and requests, and "kept the trains running on time." Finally, let it be noted that this was not an inexpensive undertaking; however, we have always believed that you get what you pay for, and this job - both in terms of construction materials and labor - underscored the validity of that maxim. We are extremely pleased with the end results and are glad that neither we nor Select Kitchen and Bath cut any corners.

The employees at Select were fantastic. I am not an easy person to deal with and poor Russ had the terrible job of keeping me on task. I was given a shopping list from Russ for my materials, and all of the sales people I talked to were quite impressed by this list. The list was very helpful. Thanks Russ. Henry was great with all the labor work, Ken and Ray and Diana were always watching out to make sure plumbing, electrical, labor and permits were in order, and that workers showed up on time.. I really felt taken care of and not at all taken advantage of. Everyone at Select were most helpful.

Came to house and did estimate and arranged dated for repairs to start. Showed up on time, reviewed work to be done with owner, and began work. Work was done on time, in good condition, and repaired non-related electrical issue. Kitchen was left clean (apart from the inevitable plaster dust) and neat each day after work completed.
