Russell and Sons

We have been using Russell and Sons Plumbing for about 15 years. Mark always responds quickly and performs the task efficiently. He is very respectful of us and our home by carefully clearing the work area before and cleaning up afterwards. He also seems very experienced in working with our 1950's home and plumbing system, even providing "hard to find" and 'no longer available" parts!

Beware of hiring this company. I hired him in April 2017 to install new pressure reducing valve and other work. All seemed fine until October 2017 when the valve he installed started leaking. He came back to inspect, said valve was faulty and would get replacement valve from company and would install when it arrived. The night before he was scheduled to come he texted to say he would charge $350 an hour to come and replace it (far higher than the original charge from April), then later texted to say he wouldn't come at all under any circumstances. I later learned that Russell & Sons had never called to even get the replacement valve. They refunded some of the money from April, but I had to hire a new plumber and buy a new valve on short notice (by this time the leak had gotten worse), and the refund did not come close to covering that cost. I never got a clear answer on why they refused to stand by their work and fix what was leaking after only six months, but hire this company at your own peril.

Work was accomplished as expected. Russell and Sons is always our first choice for plumbing services.

This the 3rd time I've used Russell and Sons for plumbing work over the past several years (first time he replaced a toilet, second time replaced a garbage disposal). This time a number of things went wrong around the same time. Mark was in the middle of a large job but was able to complete all work at my house in a couple of hours on each of two days. I was having my front steps and deck power washed, but a problem with the two outdoor faucets prevented enough pressure from getting through. Had to reschedule the power wash and contacted Mark to repair them. He was able to get the attachment off one outdoor faucet that was causing the problem, the second faucet needed to be replaced. Had several emails with Mark before his visit to determine which faucets were needed. I ordered them from Home Depot so they were here for the first day. That day he also reviewed the other problems, made recommendations on what parts were needed. I ordered all parts from Home Depot's website and they were delivered to my home for his second visit. Two bathroom hot water faucets were leaking (Mark replaced a cartridge in the faucet), a faucet in another bathroom had come loose and needed to be secured. A single faucet in a basement half-bath was difficult to pull up due to not being used very much (Mark replaced a cartridge in that faucet). The hot water faucet broke on the laundry room sink a while ago so I knew I needed to replace that faucet. Went ahead and replaced the 35+ year old utility sink - so nice to have a new utility sink which did not cost much and looks great. The 20-year old kitchen faucet was leaking and needed to be replaced. Mark doesn't waste a minute, does excellent work, and his price is outstanding. He will continue to be my go-to plumber.

Mark's answering machine message warned me that he was booked until the following week, but Mark later called back to say he had an opening two days later. We set a time but I mentioned that earlier would also work for me, and he called that day to say he had just finished a job and was available earlier. He came and replaced the pop-up mechanism in a bathroom sink, also stablized the toilet in a bathroom, confirmed that my water heater was fine, and advised me about installing a overflow pan for my washing machine. The home inspector I used estimated the cost of the first 2 tasks at about $500. Mark did them and more for $90 including the cost of parts and he was also friendly, answered all my questions, and suggested how I might tackle the overflow pan for the washer myself. ! I have already recommended him to a colleague.

My garbage disposal started leaking on a Friday afternoon. I called Russell and Sons on Sat morning and got a recording saying his first available appointment was Tuesday. Loved knowing how soon he could do the work. He called me on Monday morning to schedule the visit. He arrived on time on Tues, took a quick look and said the disposal needed to be replaced. Said he could go get a new one and install it or I could buy it and he'd come back the next day to install it. Rather than paying him to buy a new one, I did it. He didn't charge me for the examination and only charged $80 for the removal of the old one and installation of the new one. He was friendly, professional, clean, and quick. Couldn't ask for better service.

Mark's work is excellent and I don't think I could have gotten a better price especially for the quick turn around time.

Showed up at the time I had been given. Works quickly, very good job, area completely clean. Troubleshooted potential source of an electrical problem, I will call an electrician to take care of that. Mark Russell's price is outstanding, completed job in less than one hour. He will be my go-to plumber from now on.

Russell and Sons has been our plumber for over 5 years and we wouldn't call anyone else. They are the best plumbers we've ever had--skilled, responsive, and reasonably priced. I'd give them an A+ if I could.

We are selling our home and recently had a home inspection. There were four things on the list that had to be done by a plumber. Mark took care of all of them for such a reasonable price. I will never call another plumber.

Russell and Sons is FANTASTIC. When we moved into our home, we found that the main water valve was leaking. I called several places and just to replace that one valve, I was being quoted between $300-$500. After calling several places, I called my real estate agent and she recommended Russell and Sons. She told me that everyone recommends him, his prices are fantastic, and he's super duper busy. She wasn't kidding. I contacted Russell and Sons on a Tuesday. After explaining what needed to be done, he quoted me $100-$150. I immediately booked him. He came out the next day and discovered that we'd need to shut off the water. The water company could not do it until later in the week, so we rescheduled for that Friday. He did not charge me anything for coming out that day. He came back on the agreed time, on time, and ready. The water company had not yet shut off my water, so we chatted. When we looked at the pipes, he said other older valves should be replaced as well. I agreed. I also asked him to snake my bathtub which was filling up. After the water company was able to shut off my water, he went and fixed the main water valve. I couldn't believe my ears when all was said and done, he charged me $175 for three new valves (which required cutting the original valves out and soldering the new valves) and the snaking of our tub. I was so impressed with his responsiveness, fair prices, and fantastic demeanor that I have already recommended him to several neighbors!

Happy with Mark's work. Generally very good with appointments and resolving issues. Explains things and works quickly. Reasonable rates. Work seems of good quality too. No complaints.

They did a very good job. The guy showed up on time and went right to work. He got it cleaned up nicely and didn't leave a mess. He had actually quoted me $100. He said it was easier than he thought it was going to be so he charged me less than what he originally quoted. It was just an all around positive experience. I was very pleased with the price. He was very prompt and experience.

They are very responsive, pleasant and professional. Their pricing is very reasonable.
