F’n awful... My father passed on Friday. I went to his home to find the main sewer line stopped up and flooding the basement. Rush responded to a 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty service contract. I explained that I had snaked the 2 outside clean outs but ran into the issue inside the house and was not able to clear the clog. Rush snaked the outside as they should have but refused to snake the inside. The drain in the basement flooded again 2 days later. Mind you we had just finished cleaning up the sewage, disenfecting and drying the basement. I called Rush to come back on a recall. NOPE! Rush stated that they pulled 2 wipes out of the outside lines and that it was a foreign material..and they were done. So I called PARKWAY PLUMBING in Woodbridge. Parkway arrived in 2 hours, listened to what I said I had done and what Rush had failed to do...and proceeded. Parkway Plumbing cleaned the lines inside and outside and problem resolved. Not only that, the entire company was Professional from the owner to the plumbers onsite, the owner didn’t charge me for the co pay due to the situation. CAN YOU SAY CLASS ACT PARKWAY PLUMBING OF WOODBRIDGE.

They do electrical, plumbing, heating and A/C. What I like about them is they are pretty efficient at what they do. They do the job and are pretty correct about what they do. Their technicians seems to be pretty experienced. They are my company of choice and I trust them. They are kind of expensive, but you pay for what you get. When I call them I know I am going to get the job done right and nobody else is going to have to come in behind them.
Description of Work: A company I prefer is Rush Electric. They go by Rush Co Of North Virginia. They were last here to remount my ceiling fan.

Description of Work: Replaced a thermostat in my hot water tank, used by my Home Warranty company. |Already knew tank issue was minor, part was an $8 part, but Warranty deductible is $100. |Another company looked at the issue and tried to upsell me to replace the entire system, and only performed a visual inspection. | |Thankfully I already knew the problem and saw this plumber perform the necessary electrical inspection that confirmed my thoughts. |

I have had the worst service from Rush Heating & Air Conditioning of Alexandria, VA. The first time the contractor came over, he was not able to identify the problem since the water heater was no showing an error code on the box. The contractor asked that the next time the water did not heat up in my home, to take a picture of the lights on the box, which indicates the error message. This would help him identify the problem before coming back out, and if a part needed to be ordered, he would order it ahead of time. One week later the water heater stopped working again and no water was heating up. I took a picture of the error code and emailed it to the company. Additionally, I called and spoke with the manager asking him to please pass the photo of the error message to the contractor prior to having him come out, therefore to not waste my time or his time if coming out deemed to be unnecessary. The manager said he would pass the picture and call me back. Two days go by and nobody returns my call. The day before the contractor is scheduled to arrive a second time, I call the company and speak to the manager again. He asks me to text message the photo to his cell phone, which I did. I still receive no call afterwards. The next morning (July 9th) the contractor comes over at 10am. He says he was never given the photo. When he reviews the error message he says there is nothing he can do and that a part needs to be ordered. He says he will order the part, call me to reschedule installation and leaves. On July 16th, I called the company to check the status. They said the part was ordered July 13th and has yet to come in. I am angry that the part was ordered July 13th and not July 9th when the contractor visited my residence, that I had to take off 2 days of work and my water heater is still not fixed, the lack of customer service in returning my calls, and particularly the fact that the manager didn't bother showing the error code to the contractor which could have saved my time and the contractor's time from coming out a second time. On July 20th, the company called stating the part had come in and they would like to schedule a time to come install it. They stated the only time available to come was Tuesday, July 21st between 11-12am. I told them that I would not be able to take off work on such short notice and would be available any day after 3pm. They stated they would call me back to let me know what day would work. On July 21st at 4:00pm I had yet to receive a phone call, therefore I called the company. They stated I should find another company because they only worked mornings and could not come out in the afternoon.
Description of Work: My water heater issue has been going on for over 3 weeks. The company failed to call me when they indicated they would on multiple occasions. The "manager" who answers the phone is unprofessional and lacks customer service. Please note that the contractor who visited my home twice was very kind and tried to do everything he could with the little information he had. I do not fault him, he was professional and tried to find a solution, however it was his boss who failed to provide him with the photo of the error code, failed to call me back on multiple occasions, and failed to order the part on time. Nevertheless, this is the first company I have dealt with who refuses to work with the customer's schedule or apologize- despite their error in sending a contractor out a second time when it was not necessary, thus wasting my time and requiring me to take a day off work that I could have avoided.

Description of Work: They were unprofessional, late, they snaked my drain but did not fix anything. They came back after many calls to run a camera. They ran it wrong and did not provide any useful information. Finally, after many calls and a displaced tenant due to the sewer failure, they had the audacity to inform me that they would not be able to work on this job because "they don't do excavations and pipe replacement". How horrible of them? Why are they in the plumbing business if they dont' know or try to fix plumbing issues. I have to get someone else and spend thousands of dollars with someone else who was timely, professional and did a very good job. Do not hire them or let them into your home.

When they came out they ended up blowing all of our electrical sockets. They took all day to just tell me that they couldn't fix the problem. He clearly did not have any idea what he was doing. I ended up having to use another company to get the job re-fixed.

This is not our first experience with Rush. We have used them for years and have never been disappointed. The crew came in and was sensitive to our situation. We were worried about our upcoming holiday visitors. We had some small children and some elderly family and had concern for their health if the cold was an issue. They went to work immediately and I was impressed by the fact that they took the time before they came to familiarize themselves with our account and the particulars of our units, etc. They came prepared and made me feel like they were old friends. That feels good when you're concerned. They assured me all along that they would take care of whatever it was and fix it by the time my guests arrived. They thought they might have to order a part but told me they would research and call around to see what they could find in the area first. Ordering the part would be a last resort (however, they would get that in motion just in case). They left and I got a call about an hour later telling me that they had located the part and would pick it up and be back that evening to install it. I was shocked. That's service. By that evening, we had heat! I was given a discount for being a long time customer and I renewed my yearly contract. I like the thinking ahead, the way they treat their customers like gold and the concern they show. Every person that enters your house, wipes their feet, is polite and kind.
Description of Work: We turned on the heat for the first time of the season and it wasn't working (smelled burning plastic and were worried we weren't going to have heat for Thanksgiving). Called Rush and they came within hours as they considered this an emergency. It turned out our circuit board needed to be replaced. They went about finding a new one and came back to the house by evening and replaced it.

I received a postcard in the mail for a free service call. I called to schedule it since I was having problems with the furnace. I was told that the first 30 minutes were free and it was $25 per 15 minutes after that, which I agreed to. The service technician came out and was at the house for about 25 minutes. He relit the burners and said the problem was fixed. I was left a bill for $50 even though service calls under 30 minutes were supposed to be free. The problem was not fixed. Another service tech came out later in the week and said that the furnace needed to be cleaned but that it would have to be done another day. A few days later (third visit), the tech came and cleaned the furnace and then told me that I would need to replace some valves at an additional cost. Three visits and the problem was still not resolved. I have no confidence in this company and their and quot;freeand quot; service call wasn't free at all. Avoid these guys.

They were very responsive and timely (came out the day I after I called them), and best I can tell (I know nothing), they did quality work. When Marcos (the onsite electrician) arrived (on time), we walked through the 4 items on the list. He was very friendly and respectful, and very warm to my elderly mom, who lives with my family (if you care about that sort of thing). He told me the work was pretty straightforward, and he didn't expect it to take a long time or be an and quot;expensiveand quot; bill. My huge error in the experience was that I had to leave for work, and left Marcos with my mom and a blank check. When I came home, my mom told me the total was 583, and that Marcos had spent the and quot;better part of the dayand quot; at the house. I was a little perplexed, because although he was doing several jobs, he left me with the impression that the work was straightforward and simple (for an electrician that is), and that I shouldn't expect an and quot;expensiveand quot; bill. That said, I'm not sure how long that work SHOULD take, or how much it SHOULD cost, but nearly 6 hours of work and a nearly $600 bill was not what I expected. I called Rush a few days later, and the service rep I spoke with called me back to tell me that the electrician inadvertently included his travel time in the labor estimate. She told me they would take 1 hour off the total and sent me the $110 for that time. In summary, it was a less than ideal experience: THE POSITIVES: 1) they were responsive, and quickly got out and completed what seems like quality work, 2) after questioning the labor charges, they did quickly reimburse me for 1 hour. THE NEGATIVES, 1) Not sure I believe it was an accident that the tech included the travel time in the labor estimate. it's certainly possibly he was new and it was an honest mistake, not sure but not doubting, particularly becuase, 2) Even with the reimbursed $110, I am walking away feeling like I was possibly (not certainly) overcharged for labor; the cost for the work was somewhat discrepant with what I expected based on my own limited knowledge, which were reinforced by the electrician's comments after the walk-through of the in-scope items. 3) the fact that my main concern is feeling overcharged for labor, when one of the items to be fixed, perhaps the only one with any ambiguity surrounding level of effort required to fix it, had been fixed previously by Rush 3 years ago.
Description of Work: Removed and replaced 2 dimmer switches. Removed, "fixed the connection", and replaced a toggle switch. Troubleshot & fixed outdoor pole lantern that was working intermittently- replaced photocell. (Rush also performed the same work on the outdoor lantern 3 years ago)

My experience with Rush Company was delightful, from the time I initially placed the call to when electrician departed. Rush listened to my concerns and sent a very experienced electrician to deal with my electrical problems. In the past I had a very bad experience with another electrical company (house almost burned down due to incompetent licensed electrician and that other company explained that they had fired that electrician but offered no compensation for their error ). The Electrician from Rush arrived on time and quickly replaced gable attic fan; initially the blades to the fan were hitting the rim and making a terrible loud sound - he was able to bend the blades and stop the noise. Then he quickly replaced a broken closet light. He was unable to correct a problem with a 3-way switch without cutting into drywall - this was a trivial problem created by another electrician who miswired during kitchen renovation. He checked electrical panel and rewired a faulty outlet. I was pleased with the service I received. The electrician honored the coupon that I clipped from the Yellow Pages. I would recommend Rush - they also warranty their work for 5 years.
Description of Work: Replaced gable attic fan & closet ceiling light. Checked 3-way switch wires. Checked main electrical panel & tightened circuit breakers as needed. Rewired faulty outlet.

Description of Work: Had them perform a service check for the heating elements in my water heater. They offered to come the same day to service. I was unavailable that same day. When thy did arrive, it was on time. The gentleman provided good service, was polite, and deftly handled my home warranty company. They came on a Sunday morning to install a new water heater for my home. It took several hours, but the gentleman answered any questions I had. He also explained how I could maintain the new water heater and showed me what was wrong with my old one.

Heat Pump: multiple problems and multiple service calls it was only after my request to get RUDD factory rep involved, was the problem resolved. Even so, I felt at that time they "made good" on their promises, which led me to sign a Maint Contract. Unfortunately they were not as reliable or honest in that regard. After a couple years of putting up with issues such as only superficially doing cleaning of unit fans and coils [discovered after the fact], showing up on more than one occasion for roof unit at office without bringing a ladder, not putting cover piece back over filter access, ordering wrong filter size, it was an overall a waste of money and despite a personal visit to their office to resolve problems, they were un-cooperative. At one time this was a reputable company, but it would seem that they lost focus.
Description of Work: My first experience was with installation of Heat Pump/Air Exch unit. Had maintenance contract that was to service unit on regular basis [one at home and one at my commercial office].

They arrived on time, they did a great job, despite having to replace 7 light fixtures throughout our new home while the entire house was being painted. They worked around the painters and drop cloths (not the ideal work environment for them) but they were great, and did not complain. I had them come out for a follow up on an electrical issue and they were great.
Description of Work: We had RUSH install several light fixtures in our new home in June 2008. They did a great job, especially with the very heavy chandelier. They changed out some dimmer switches too. If I had known about them, I would have hired them for plumbing as well.

Description of Work: They have done everything for me, from installing toilets, a furnace, and stopping leaks. They installed light fixtures and most recently helped resolve a problem where my circuits kept tripping. They found a corroded conduit and was causing the short.
