Quoted me a good price but presented a contract w/o any detail. I wrote up 2 pages of detail and had them agree to add it to the contract before I signed. Shortly after the contract was signed, was told they did not "realize" the contract included re-roofing main house and that there was not enough money in the contract for that, even though it was clearly stated in the contract. Argued about this for a few days and then they relented. Not off to a good start. Most work was performed by a sub (small company, ASAP Remodeling of Sterling, VA). They showed up and worked in earnest to demo the old carport, pour a nice slab, and frame up the new garage. Then I did not see much activity for several weeks. I contacted ASAP foreman and he said that payment was not forthcoming from Remnant for them to continue. I tried to contact Remnant. Office phone was disconnected but I had president's cell phone number. Called several times and left messages. Never received a return phone call. Finally called and Ms. Bak answered. I asked what was going on and requested a meeting at our residence to plan out the rest of the work. Was assured work would be competed and we set up a meeting, to which they did not show up. Called back and received an excuse that they had left a message stating they could not make the meeting, but we never received a message. We re-scheduled the meeting, and they actually showed up. We planned out the timeline for the remaining work. We set up a 2 week timeline. Although it took closer to 5 weeks, the work did get completed and was satisfactory. Along the way they nickeled and dimed me for various items which added a couple of thousand to the overall cost. I consider myself fortunate that ASAP Remodeling was involved, because they seemed to care about the quality of the work and that the project get done. In the end I got what I wanted, but not without A LOT of stress, anxiety, and effort on my part.
