Nova Exteriors Inc

This was my second attempt to use a reference off Angie's List. (The first was an awful experience with an HVAC contractor - and I regret ever using that firm.) This time around I was very skeptical, and also more direct with the four companies I contacted for door estimates. Remember, they work for you. I picked NOVA Exteriors because they were prompt and not overtly aggressive with follow up. Some of the four contractors were selling the exact same manufacturers door, so that helped with my comparison. In that regard, the product I wanted NOVA Exteriors had a slightly better price point. Once I got over sticker shock, and that all estimates were in the same range for two exterior doors, it was an easy choice. Once I chose NOVA Exteriors, they were flexible with some minor changes before I committed to the order. The doors arrived within about three weeks, and they were able to install them one week later. The install went smoothly, and was quicker than I anticipated given the odd sized openings. The finish work in some very tight spaces far exceeded my expectations. So far I am very pleased with their work. They made sure the work area was kept clean even as they worked, so as not to carry dirt/saw dust where ever they might walk. I have some other projects next year and will definitely count them in when I get estimates. Great job guys.

Overall I would never use this company again. The stairs that they constructed were supposed to meet code, however the depth is 8" on most of the stairs and 9 inches on the last stair which does not meet industry standards, even though I was assured they would pass county code. I will say that the Supervisor, who is also the estimator, was professional and responsive, that is why they are getting a D vs an F.

They were quite professional and knowledgeable. I think they did a good job overall. This is the first time I have got windows replaced, from what I saw, everything looks good.

The entire time he was there he kept saying this is what we could do, this is what you will do but when I said OK that's great can I have a written estimate he stated "oh we don't do that". He asked if I would like to see the show room, so I went to the show room and liked what I saw but wanted a written estimate, he still wouldn't give me anything in writing. For all the boasting they do about being highly rated on Angie's List, there business practices are lacking, I couldn't even get a written estimate. When I went up to the show room this young guy who I had spoke to before, who talked me into coming up there, was more concerned about getting his oil changed then giving me an estimate.

They do a great job! They guarantee everything that they do. They are always on time they clean up the job sight looks great. They are professional and courteous. They get all the permits with the city.

Received estimates from 4 companies and then selected NOVA Exteriors primarily because of their reputation on Angie's List. All phases of contact: initial phone estimate request, salesman, measurement, installation, and follow-up were all very professional and accurate. Installation was a bit delayed due to weather, but was accomplished in a very timely manner with very professional results. The door was expensive, but in line with the other estimates (it's a big slider !!!). I now hope that the door loosens up a bit in a few months as the installer said it would. Our previous door was also a Traco and very heavy. Any issues I would have would be with Traco and not the installation or service. Excellent packet of information with references provided with initial contact.

Before reading, consider that I used Nova Exteriors once in the past, and they were very good. The sales rep didn't bring any information about the brand we wanted and tried to sell us their "partner" brand. When we insisted that we wanted an estimate for the other brand, he couldn't give it to us. He had to go back to the office and said he would call that night or the next day. A week went by! Wife called him and left a message. Another week went by! We essentially wasted all of our time attempting to get an estimate from Nova Exteriors. We used someone else. I sent an email to Nova Exteriors explaining my disappointment. They replied, explaining that the salesperson isn't good, and he would be reprimanded. They were very apologetic.

We had two old, crappy, exterior doors (one door in the basement, and one in the garage) that needed to be replaced. The rep. came out and explained all of our options. We signed up. Took 6 weeks to get the doors delivered, but I believe this is not unusual. Meanwhile, a great rep. from the company came out to take exact measurements. Unlike the original salesman, he was able to speak very technically about the door installation and definitely made me feel like he knew what he was doing. After the doors came in, they quickly made an appt., and installed both door in one day. There were a couple nit-picky items that they had to come back and do (caulk wasn't perfect, etc.), but these were really tiny things. I just knew I could ask them to do almost anything and they would do it. Been a couple months and the doors have been great. I think they did an excellent job.

It didn't - we never heard from them after the first visit.

It was great. Everything turned out very well. There was one bit of confusion about the deck which was resolved immediately. They were very responsive in this regard. They were on time and worked very quickly. The work for the deck took about seven days and the door took two days. They cleaned the work area when they were finished. They did two pieces of work. The deck was about $9,500. The door installation was about $2,500.

Excellently! Estimates, preinstallment estimates and actual installation were all made on time and efficiently done.

Company looked at old railing and provided estimate for replacing either with a composite material or pressure treated lumber. We decided to go with the lumber alternative because of the price difference. Several weeks later, the lumber was delivered and the installer demolished and removed the old railing. He then installed the new railing in about two days. We made one change during the installation, which was easily coordinated with the main office. The installer was polite and thorough. Nova Exteriors was a very easy company to deal with and we are pleased with the work.

We got a low pressure sales pitch, with a fair price. (We also had presentations from several other companies, so we knew what we were looking for). Once we had an agreement, the materials were ordered. When they were ready, NOVA came on time and completed the work quickly and professionally. They did an excellent clean up job too. We had a problem with one window, and they responded quickly and resolved the issue (replaced the window at no cost to us). We are completely satisfied and would call them again.

Gabriel and Ryan arrived a bit late but quickly got to work. I was impressed by Gabriel's repertoire and length of carpentry experience (14 yrs). Best of all, before he began work, Gabriel reviewed the ladder s instructions and double-checked for missing/damaged parts before going to the work site and laying protective tarps on my carpet. Both took off their shoes to protect my carpet (Wow!!). The work went smoothly beginning to end. While waiting for Ryan to complete installation work, Gabriel explained that the hard-wired smoke detector had to be moved to one side and I have to call a licensed electrician to do it since he was not licensed to do so. Once the job was completed, Gabriel doubled-checked the quality of their work and made sure that the ladder's instructions were met. I was impressed with their attention to detail, quality of work, and the care they took to protect my personal property.

Scheduled as a 2-day job. Crew arrived on time and removed gutters & installed new trim pieces. Second crew didn't arrive until third day to install gutters & downspouts. Didn't have screens with them to install over gutters. Despite repeated promises, they didn't return to install the screens for another 7 days. Rain caused us to have to clean the clogged gutters twice in the meantime. Work looked great when they finally finished, but waiting a week for them to finish the job was a massive pain.

I was very happy with their service.

The salesman arrived punctually, was courteous and knowledgeable. He offered the suggestion of using obscure glass in the bathrooms. He described the construction process and told us what to expect. The price was not a bargain, but reasonable for the Northern VA area. Some negatives: As the crew were leaving we noticed what we thought was a large smudged area in the exact center of the large master bath window. A workman climbed up and tried to clean it; it wouldn t come off. I called the company and they promptly ordered a new one. Two weeks later the replacement window was installed, which contained the SAME defect. Obviously, Traco has a manufacturing problem, and it seems to me that this should have been spotted beforehand by Nova Exteriors. Also, a minor quibble: If you spend $9K on a product you should at least be given a Use and Care guide of some sort. To his credit, when asked, the installer tried, in very broken English, to explain the operation of the new windows.

They were very responsive to my needs. They got the job done very quickly in only two days. The only problem I've had with them is with the warranty on the shingles and I think that was just resolved today. They guys were very professional.

A WONDERFUL COMPANY, FROM THE FIRST PHONE CALL TO THE KIND, KNOWLEDGEABLE AND VERY PATIENT SALES MAN, CHUCK. THIS WAS A DIFFICULT JOB AS THE WINDOWS WERE IN AN AWKWARD PLACE, YET GABRIEL, TITO AND THE REST OF THE GUYS WERE TRUE ARTISANS AND DID A TERRIFIC JOB. EVERYONE AT ALL TIMES WAS PUNCTUAL, RESPONSIVE AND EXTREMELY COURTEOUS. I HAVE NEVER HAD A MORE PLEASANT AND COMPETENT EXPERIENCE WITH A HOME CONTRACTOR. FOR EXCELLENCE, I SUGGEST YOU CALL NOVA EXTERIORS.

Nova Exteriors was great from the start. I sent an e-mail requesting an estimate and within 15 minutes a salesperson contacted me. Scheduling the estimate was easy -- they were available on evenings and weekends. The estimator came right on time and was very knowledgeable. Construction began within a week of signing the contract. The carpenters came on time and did an excellent job. It only took 3 days to finish. First-rate work. It was definitely worth the slightly higher cost. No headaches or hassles! They exceeded my expectations.

The work was done efficiently and on schedule. The crew did not waste time and cleaned up after itself. I'm extremely happy with the doors and siding. I wish I had seen what the new windows would look like before I bought them because I might have been able to refine my choice a little, but overall I am happy with what I bought.

I was very satisfied with the way they worked. Every day I would go outside and ask them for a daily report to know how everything was going. After the project was finished I found a coupon that said that if the project cost more than $3000 they discounted $250, so I called them and they gave that money back to me even if the project was finished already.

I was very happy with the work they did. It was kind of hard for me to find someone who would come out and install the windows in the crawl space. I thought they were on time and very careful to make sure that the new windows were sealed well.

Nova Exteriors were the only ones who actually showed up to give us an estimate! Due to weather related delays there were some scheduling problems and it wasn't quite clear to us when the work would actually be performed - communication could be improved. However, once started the work was performed extremely fast and on budget.

Nova's work transformed our porch from something that looked sloppy, was drafty, poorly lit, and leaked, to a professional looking, well-insulated, room that is the brightest and among the nicest looking in our house. We were extremely satisfied with Nova's customer service and professionalism. Both Kevin and Neal (and his team) were a pleasure to work with. We would certainly use Nova again.
