+ 0 moreGenerally excellent work, very good to work with, open to second opinion of an engineer when an unexpected foundation problem cropped up, and engineer recommended exact same approach as Navarro, giving me added confidence in the solution. Sometimes needed to call in company owner in instances when it was unclear what would be the best option and workers hadn't considered all alternatives. I was never sure which workers would be on site on any given day, but all conducted themselves professionally. Owner occasionally seemed annoyed at questioning, but mostly was responsive. His experience in the neighborhood of very old homes, including historic properties, showed, and that outweighed any downsides.
Description of Work: Reframing exterior on windows, repairing stucco over brick, new patio door.

+ -1 moreThey were very professional and punctual. A worker caused a little damage to the cieling drywall below and fixed it immediately. The company also called and apologized for the accident. We also got estimates for other work to our house, but their estimates were high. We did not get another estimate for the roof truss repair so I do not know if it was a reasonable price or not.
Description of Work: Repaired cracked beams in the roof.

They did estimates with two others and they came and I would say at the low end. I'm only happy with the outcome and I thought they did an excellent job.

Description of Work: Historic restoration in Old Town. Rejuvenated facade of home and made other exterior repairs. Ricardo is experienced in dealing with the Board of Architectural Review (BAR), which regulates all exterior work in Parker Gray. He managed expectations appropriately, which I appreciated given the unknowns in a restoration project. To sum up the result of his work, my home was transformed from the ugliest eyesore on the block to one of the most attractive historic town homes.

+ 2 moreRicardo was a dream to work with, and his price was the best of the three bids we solicited. His subs show up when scheduled and take pride in their work. The project took slightly longer than anticipated, but Ricardo kept us fully informed of the schedule, and he readily responded to questions/issues that arose in a professional, yet cheerful manner. I was very particular on small details, and Ricardo worked with me to insure I was totally happy with the end product. I have worked with other area contractors, and by far and away, Ricardo Navarro was the easiest and most pleasant I have dealt with. While others grumbled, made excuses, or tried to blame me when issues came up, Ricardo cheerfully worked with me to resolve any concerns and to make sure I was completely satisfied with our new bathroom. I am!
Description of Work: Ricardo, his crew, and his subs completely gutted and rebuilt our master bath. This entailed moving water lines.

+ 2 moreThe wood on the outside of our front door had rotted out to the point where our storm door was pulling right out of the wood and we feared it would come crashing down and shatter. With 120 year old brick on our house and door that was definitely not plumb (what is in Old Town), I wanted to make sure this job was done right. Ricardo came recommended to us and he and his subcontractor did an excellent job repairing the wood around the door and reinstalling the storm door. They took no shortcuts and I very much felt they took pride in their workmanship. Going into the project, I was hesitant about the expense, but seeing the skilled labor that went into the work, and the benefit of having Ricardo there, I am very glad I chose Navarro Construction and would use them again.
Description of Work: Repair rotten wood on an exterior door frame, including architectural accents, and reinstall storm door.

+ -1 moreThe salesman at the tile store didn't calculate properly, so the first time the tilers showed up to begin, they couldn't do anything. A month later, with the right amount of tile on site, they came back. There were a few things I would do differently next time: inspect the tiles for color variations, and make sure the electrical outlets are the exact same height. The marble tiles were mostly golden toned, but a few were pink and the tilers didn't call my attention to the extreme color variance before putting them up, which meant taking them out later when the cement had already hardened. They also had to remove some tiles to move the electrical boxes. Without any tile on the backsplash we didn't know they were uneven until the tile went up and the horizontal lines from the tile showed how uneven the outlets actually were.
Description of Work: We needed to have a honed marble backsplash installed in our kitchen, along with a custom mosaic over the stove. Despite some issues with the stone itself, the tile installers did a very good job. Our kitchen looks beautiful!

+ 0 moreI was very pleased with excellent work on a challenging task.
Description of Work: I needed to have a wooden storm door with clear glass center panel installed on a front door. Ricardo, the owner, came to examine the project and submitted a bid. Wooden storm doors are not common (window and door installers appear not to deal with them). He submitted a bid at what I believe was a fair price. At installation I expressed concern about possible water damage to the wood over time, and he recommended oil paint over a primer. The oil paint was much more difficult to apply than water based paint because of long drying time between coats, but he suggested it under his original bid. Also, the door jam on this historic house was out of plumb, but his excellent carpenter was up to the challenge and worked until the problems were overcome. The result was excellent. He also did work on the main door (wood) on a time and materials basis to correct some problems. This work was done to perfection and at a reasonable cost.
