decks, doors, roofing, siding, replacement windows
+ 3 moreDescription of Work: All gutters (with covers), downspouts, etc. were replaced front and back. Once old hardware was removed, VERY attractive, weatherproof new soffit and such was added under roof overhang both front and back and gutters were attached to that -- completely nullifying any problems with possible soft wood/rot/etc. Unfortunately, I originally contracted for this service with ANOTHER company, and TN did no site survey, no estimate, NO CONTRACT (!), etc. I was speaking to a TN rep who'd called on the phone and erroneously asking him when he was going to get out here and finish the job (which would have included repairs on the framing of my rear French Doors as well) and after a brief conversation, he told me he'd get right on it. Later I was called for a $100 *good-faith* down payment, and the work was scheduled. It's a shame -- for about the same price as my original estimate, minus what work would have been done on my rear French Doors, they did the job and did it VERY WELL. The work was extremely professional and couldn't look better -- with that my wife and I were pleased almost to amazement. When I asked the workers when they were leaving (I only spoke to them twice over the two days the job took!) about work on the doors, they suggested I call the office and finally I realized I'd worked with the wrong people, someone that basically had done no preliminary work or given me a signed estimate or anything similar. The only bad thing I can say is that my original contract with [name with-held] was slightly lower and would have included MORE work -- now leaving my wife and I with something still to be done we thought we'd arranged to have fixed already. If TN had let me know I'd made a mistake and they weren't the people with whom I'd already contracted the job, I hope I would have had basically the same quality of work (but more of it, including the door to our rear deck) for just slightly less money. Being disabled and contributing to our household income only by Social Security Disability Insurance, it's a mistake we (well, I really) couldn't afford to make also. HAD I CONTRACTED THIS JOB WITH TN FROM THE OUTSET, my wife and I would be very happy with what was done, although we were a bit upset with the price upon learning the job was done with the door framing still needing repair. As I mentioned earlier, what a shame. We should be happy for a job (very) well done, but TN were so anxious to get the work initially we actually got less than we'd contracted for, for more than we thought we would pay. The price difference wasn't huge, but on our income and medical bills, every little bit matters. Now, we have gorgeous and what seems to be very high quality work done for a bit more than we expected to pay, some work still is unfinished, and it wasn't done by the company we'd hired to do it and they never told us -- we might have arranged a similar deal with them (TN) and been TOTALLY pleased but never had the opportunity, so who knows. Since the work done was done so well and looks so good, as I said before (and again), it's really a shame they were so anxious to jump on the business we didn't get everything done we needed AND paid more for it in the bargain. I'd like to rate this company straight A's throughout, but there's no getting around they took the work away from someone else without letting ANYONE know, so both the other company and my wife and I ended up with less than we CAREFULLY planned to do. We were lucky things turned out so well. We easily could have been badly ripped off had TN been so inclined.
