Description of Work: The electrician came on time and was professional and experienced. It cost more than it should - the "deal" seemed more of a "sham" or bait & switch in my opinion. It was unclear how the money I spent on the Deal was applied to the total amount charged.

Description of Work: I had a deal for a breaker box labeling and whole house inspection. The service guy was nice enough, but I didn't really feel like we got much for our money. The guy wrote out a list of the breakers, but didn't label the box. There was no write up about the inspection or recommendations about what we should do, just verbal feedback. Also, when it came time to pay, there was some confusion. The tech tried to charge me the normal rate minus the cost of the coupon. When I told him that wasn't how it works, he said that is what they always do. I did eventually get it worked out, but it seemed very sketchy to try and charge full price.

Description of Work: They tested some outlets and rewired one so the electric would work in the guest bedroom. The technician said I would be called for a quote to have the other outlets fixed and I haven't heard back yet. Its been a few months.

Description of Work: Work: Installation of an electric vehicle charging station at our house on a new dedicated circuit. The electrician arrived more than an hour-and-a-half after the end of the time span I was given, and didn't understand what he was expected to do when he arrived. I had explained when I booked the service that putting the electric line through the wall of the brick house would be necessary, but the electrician didn't arrive with the tools to do that. After spending about 10 minutes at our house, he left for more than an hour to buy a hammer drill at Home Depot. When he did the work, it appeared to be well done, but only took about 1 1/2 hours. $995 seems awfully expensive for that much work. I think I bought the company an expensive hammer drill.

Description of Work: I had a contractor in my home to replace some drywall, the contractor blew a fuse in a section of the house. He said he tried to reset the breaker, but it would not reset. The contractor had his electrician come in to check everything out. His electrician got the lights back on and reported that at least two of the breakers had weak springs making it difficult for them to switch back to the on position. He said there was no problem with the wiring inside the wall, just needed some maintenance on the breaker panel. | |I felt it prudent to get a second opinion and found a Daily Deal Coupon on Angie's List. I selected Murphy Family Electric. I was given a two-hour window between 8am - 10am for service on the agreed upon date. Victor called around 9am to say he was coming from northern Virginia and expected to reach my home about 10am. He arrived about 10:15am, but had called again to let me know his status. So although he was a little late, he effectively communicated with me the entire time. Victor came in and checked the electrical panel. He reported that all the breakers checked out okay. He looked at the wall outlet where the drywall was replaced and found a small nick in the wiring, likely where the contractor's drywall knife touched the wiring that caused the lights to short out in the first place. Victor easily repaired this, avoiding a possible problem later. I also had Victor check out another wall socket that mysteriously stopped working after a kitchen renovation several years earlier. | |I was very satisfied with Victor's professionalism and eagerness to explain each step of what his was doing and why, what he found and how he would resolve the issue. Every homeowner knows how important it is to have a good plumber and good electrician. I've had an excellent plumber for over 20 years. Now I am happy to count Murphy Family Electric as that good electrician I have been seeking. | |The service was completed within the time frame provided under the coupon. I came away with peace of mind that the electrical issue was resolved without additional expense.

Description of Work: Replaced two chandeliers and installed a ceiling fan. The electrician did a good job and left the work site clean. Due to a schedule mix-up Murphy installed one light replacement free, plus I had an Angie's List coupon, so my final cost was $200.
