Description of Work: I used Mr Handyman of South Alexandria & Springfield for handy man services. They fixed a small problem on the roof I remember that but they checked my attics for and leaks.

Description of Work: Hired to do power washing of our house. Timely arrival. I had a dental emergency and left. While I was gone the rented power washer broke so worker used my hand pump (after dumping out my Round-Up). I returned to a bill of over $800.00. Power washing for our house took over 7 hours. Bill was for "power washing" two sides of a house plus small repairs that took under 30 minutes. I got the bill down to about $550.00. I should have been informed the power washer broke and asked if my hand pump sprayer could be used. I wanted a power wash not a hand detail of the two sides of my house with siding.

Description of Work: I built a fence 20 years ago and in July of 2008 a storm blew a neighbor's tree over which landed on part of the fence and demolished the gate and about 10 other feet of the 40 foot fence (as well as part of my roof). Mr. Handyman gave me an estimate that fit into my insurance company's very tight repair allowance (which is another complaint for another email). I gave Mr. H. pictures of what the destroyed gate looked like prior it its demise (and parts of the fence were still whole but in sections) and was very adamant in saying that if they could not replicate the fence that I had built they should not take the job. Mike Costello repeatedly assured me that it would be done the way I wanted. Based on that promise, I hired Mr. H.; however, that was the last time I believed a word he said, and he did nothing to disprove my disbelief. Here are just a portion of the complaints 1. I told Mr. Costello that wanted to speak and show to whatever repairman he sent how I wanted things done. The first repairman was many hours late in arriving, being stuck in traffic and not calling me to say so, even though he had a cell phone. I explained to him what I wanted done and he said okay and I left. 2. Fast forward: After several days of "problems" in getting things done, the repairman "finished" wth The planks were uneven: the latch and hardware spots in the wood were not cleanly cut but chiseled apart to force a fitting; angle cuts were uneven, unequal and rough, as though a dull blade had been used; a waterproof spray was randomly applied, making things look really uneven; the fence boards were a cheap rough wood, not the same quality of wood on the rest of the undamaged fence; the bottom boards of the gate were very uneven and not even cut high enough to allow the gate to be opened; the hardware was roughly attached, and didn't work smoothly. I could go on and on, but the picture should be clear. (And I have pictures of everything.) I complained to Mike Costello and it took weeks for him to respond back to me. He finally looked at the work and said he'd send another person to fix it. That other person finally came weeks later and did a fair, but still not good, job of repairing the awful job of the previous repairman. My complaints were not responded to for months after that, and I had to threaten several times to take Mike and Mr. Handyman to court for satisfaction before he responded to me. Finally, in March I heard from Mike /Mr. Handyman who gave me a whole list of personal and business reasons why he did not respond to me. I said okay, but fix it right this time or I'm going to take you to court. He sent another person to come and fix the gate (and some of the adjacent fence). That repairman (who I did not see) finally came a week or so later than promised and ended up not finishing all of the "fixes" and left a mess that was indicative of someone who just gave up. My further emails to Mike Costello at Mr. Handyman were not returned. I've had a very busy spring and summer and am now going to get another company (a fence specialist) to repair the repair that Mr. Handyman did not repair. Also, Mike/Mr.Handyman did not honor either a mailed coupon or an Angie's list coupon I gave to them. This is but a summary of the problems, and the calls and emails to fix them, I have had with Mr. Handyman. I have saved all emails so there can be little dispute about the facts or the timing.
