Description of Work: I have used Monova for multiple projects, including a bathroom remodel and repairs to a back porch. Overall, their work was decent. Monova does not have its own work crew, and the quality of work depends somewhat on what workers the owner of Monova (Jay) gets for the particular job.

This is absurd! [removed member name] has been using us for many years for various projects. He knows that the same crews have been going to his house all the time. Our foreman Cesar has done so much work at this location and we are just very confused why he'd post this kind of review. We understand you got fired from your job but don't take it out on us after 2yrs later....

We contacted Monova about finishing our 650 sq. ft. basement. 1. The tile job in the newly framed (by Monova) bathroom was uneven and a high percentage of the accent tile was chipped and uneven/wavey. 2. We asked the owner to have his tiler remove the tile and replace it with another accent tile. 3. Monova had their worker remove the accent tile to replace it with a less difficult to install accent tile. The worker used the new $250 ceiling fan as an exhaust fan for particulate dust removal (exhaust fan). The fan still blows dust on guests who visit and use our bathroom. 4. The tile-worker began installing the new accent tile and we noticed that the backing for the colored glass tile was chipping. We questioned how this repair would look but went with it because we believed that the adhesive would fill-in the chipped areas on the back of the tile and that it would be minimally noticeable. 5. During the same accent tile repair timeframe, we noticed that a high percentage of the wall tiles in the bath, which is tiled on all four walls, were offset and not set level to the wall. We were wondering, how, on a brand new wall, tiles could be set uneven. 6. We informed Jay about the (1) ruined accent tile, (2) novice quality work on much of the tile in the whole bathroom and, (3) the use and continued decreased value and performance of the ceiling fan that was used as a particulate exhaust fan. 7. After realizing that continued repairs because of inadequate quality craftsmanship ended up perpetuating a cycle of subpar repairs, we decided to ask Jay for $1000 off the total bill of $27,200 and just asked him to leave although there were many other repairs of newly installed items that I knew I would have to repair myself. 8. Currently, after several visitors have viewed our finished basement, we have come to the realization that the bathroom's embarrassingly uneven and chipped tile work is a repair that would cost 5,000-10,000 dollars (another contractor's estimate was $4000 for shower only). While I know how to undertake many small construction projects on my own, I had no idea that the cost of legitimate repairs to the sub-par tile work in the bath would cost the exorbitant amounts that I recently found, and had quoted. 9. A main wall of the basement is crooked. the wall is off-line 3 inches within a 4 foot span! 10. The newly installed shower control is hooked up wrong. The hot is hooked up to the cold feed and the cold is hooked up to the hot feed. This is behint the horribly installed tile wall. 11. Monova knew that they were getting off easy by refunding $1000. Not only were there issues with tile and ceiling fan but, the vanity was installed incorrectly (Monova made excuses for their crew's method of installation and was not truthful about reasons for the incorrect installation). Monova also blamed the incorrect installation of the vanity on our choice of vanity brand. They claimed that the vanity brand caused them to install it so the drawers would not open...as they rammed into the door trim after opening a few inches! the newly framed walls are crooked and there is a short in the (new) shower light. Monova would like to enter our house to continue repairs but this is a no-go. I will not let them back in for repairs of their new work. I would like them to pay for repairs so professionals can do the work.

Response from Monova Contractors
Ahhh, These people again. They have tried this with Better Business Bureau, we went back and forth with BBB to dispute this complaint. At the end, BBB removed the complaint. Now they just signed up here so they can try to make us the bad guys, we really see what kind of people they are.... Bottom line is these people didn't say a word for 6-7 months after we finished, walked through, collected final check, and now they have all these issues. We've been doing this last 10yrs, zero complaint with BBB, usually when there's a problem such as "fan blowing out the dust", they don't wait 7 months to call. Customers call right away. The fact that they waited 7months, who knows what and who went in there. Us contractors deal with many different type of people all the time, and we all know some people will be never happy no matter what.......

Jay showed up for on-time for estimate. That was way better than the other guys! Then he started work when he told us he would. They did wainscoting, drywall, tile work, and install the rest of our bathroom. It was pretty much the entire bathroom redo. They even finished early!
Description of Work: We hired Manova contractor's for a bathroom remodel. They started on time and showed up for work on time every day. They were very professional, and our bathroom looks great! They knew we were on a budget and they were very responsive to our needs. I will definitely use them again!

I chose MONOVA after meeting with a couple other contractors and feeling like I got the best personal service and attention to detail from Jay. He got me on the schedule as quickly as possible, gave me recommendations for tile and bath products, and we were off. Cesar and crew showed up right on time the day work was to start and worked long days to keep everything on schedule. Work was completed in about two and a half weeks for all three rooms. During the job they were able to work around my family's schedule and kept things as clean as you can expect with three rooms torn apart. The quality of the work has been excellent. I'm very happy with the way things look and feel, my bathrooms now upstage the rest of the house! We did have a minor problem with the shower, caused by a quick fix on their part to account for a late change in the design on my part, which they were responsive in getting fixed properly (removing the tile and extending the rubber shower liner) after the slow leak showed up a couple months later.
Description of Work: I hired MONOVA to remodel two full bathrooms and one half bath in my 1980s house. Work included demolition, plumbing, electrical, tile, building a new shower, installing a new tub and new vanities, paint and trim. They also did some drywall repair in hallways due to previous water leaks.

They did a great job. They were quick and thorough. They were very responsive for that job. But they also agreed to do our siding project. We called them multiple times but we just never heard back from them. After they did the drywall work we noticed a mistake; there was an area with only one quote done and it wasn’t sanded or anything. It was an area of the house that was easy to miss. They didn’t complete the job and we could never get a hold of them for something that they said they were interested in doing. They performed the job very well except for that one section. They were very prompt. Everything else was really good. They were somewhat responsive as they said that they were busy and that they will get back to us but they never did. They were very well priced. They were there when they said they would be. They finished the job actually quicker than they said they would.

1750.00 We were very pleased with the person who did the actual work. Beautiful drywall work and painting. My only complaint would be with the one who gave the estimate. I had wanted a back splash in my kitchen. I made an appointment for him to come out and it got changed several times. I gave up on that. I felt he needed to be more organized with his scheduling. Overall, pleased with the work.

Jay was on call to do the work after our special order tub came from Texas, and his crew came in like gangbusters around 8 am the appointed day. About 10 men came in, laying dropcloths down everywhere they stepped. They got the tub out by 10 am, with the bad news that I couldn't reuse the faucet; the builders were lazy and had soldered the faucet directly to the pipes. I had to run out and get a tub faucet. The tub was in by 3 pm. The electricians finished around 7 pm. We filled the tub halfway to try out the jets, & all appeared well. That evening, I was in the family room below when I noticed the dogs staring at a lampshade (around 8:30). When I turned down the TV volume, I realized that water was dropping down, hitting the shade. The paint was bulging from the ceiling, drops coming down from several areas. I called Jay. His foreman, Cesar, came over immediately. He cut open the leaking areas so the drywall could dry out. (I already had plastic tarps, towels and trash cans all over, with furniture pushed away). Cesar stayed at least 20 minutes, saying his plumbing was good. Cesar and his asistant spent over 4 hours the next day looking at everything, and they finally found a small crack inside a jet. Over the next few days, I had to go back and forth with the tub company about replacement parts. Cesar et al spent about 16 extra hours diagnosing the problem, & trying to repair it, while ending up being a probem they had nothing to do with. I did not get charged any extra for this unexpected work. I ultimately bought a soaker tub from Lowes, which Cesar installed & tiled. The (original) tub was a nightmare, but Cesar & crew were phenomenal. The tile & drywall repairs are beautiful (I painted).
Description of Work: Scope of work was for master bath: remove current soaker tub run wire to breaker for new jetted tub (on opposite corner of house, down 2 levels) wire & install ceiling light over tub, w/ dimmer; wire new wall outlet on other side of room install new jetted tub, of a brand that uses individual jets (no tubing), w/ new faucets plumb for shut off valves, accessed from bedroom reframe tub opening as needed tile & grout wall and tub areas disturbed repair drywall disturbed by running electrical wires & shut off access

They did a great job from start to finish. I got several other estimates that were in the same price range, but I picked Jay (and Cesar, his foreman) because they did a beautiful bath remodel for me earlier in the year.
Description of Work: They power washed the exterior of my house including siding, wood trim and windows. They also painted all the exterior trim; and replaced rotted wood if needed. This firm also repaired and primed as needed and then painted the foundation of the house. My house has a large railed front porch and a sun room on the back with 9 adjacent windows. I paid for the paint supplies.

The job went very well overall. The contractor performed the work in about 1 week, often working 12+ hour days, including Christmas Eve. The contractor was extremely polite and respectful and consulted with me frequently as the work progressed. One of the deciding factors in choosing this contractor was the ability to get a quote for labor only: I wanted to be able to select the materials and this contractor was very accommodating. He accompanied me to Home Depot to buy the materials on several occassions and when he bought materials himself, he presented receipts to be reimbursed. I felt like I had a lot of control over the job, especially the cost since I did not want to spend a lot of money on a seldom used bathroom, but? I also wanted a quality job done. The contractor paid a lot of attention to detail and was exceptionally hardworking. After the project was done, he left the work area clean. I felt like I got high quality and good value from this contractor.
Description of Work: I had a smaller, lower level full bathroom remodeled. This included removing the standard sized bathtub and replacing with a tiled walk in shower of the same dimensions as the removed bathtub, installing glass sliding door, bathroom carpet removed and tile installed, vanity removed and new one installed, toilet replaced, wallpaper removed and walls and trim painted, vanity medicine cabinet replaced, lighting fixture replaced, closet painted, including shelving, ventilation fan installed (there was no existing fan), electrical outlet installed (no existing outlet). The job included all plumbing, painting, and electrical work.

Description of Work: I needed a new kitchen floor and a pantry door. The bathroom had to be gutted for a new floor, bathtub, vanity cabinet, wall tile in the bathtub area and new copper plumbing. I requested the installation of new flooring in my Laundry Room, Pantry closet, the Foyer and the Foyer closet. From the day Jay submitted his estimate, he was punctual and very attentive. He explained in detail the work which had to be done and offered suggestions. I received other estimates, but his prices were the most reasonable and detailed. His presentation of the estimate was very professional. I had to postpone the day work would begin by several weeks, but it was ok because Jay kept touching base with me every week. His work group of (2) were very punctual arriving every day at 8:30 am and leaving at 4:30-5:00pm. They wouldn't stop working even to take breaks. Before they left, they would clean everything and put it in an orderly manner. They were very cordial, neat and attentive to my questions. They covered the floor and my furniture with a tarp to avoid excessive dust. The work they performed was excellent and beautiful. I was very impressed with the precision in installing the floor tiles and the wall tiles in the bathroom. Jay would stop by everyday to check the work being done and kept tabs on his crew. My concern was the installation of the copper tubing in the bathtub area but all the work was perform in a seamless manner. They even installed an access switch where I could turn on or off the water supply in my shower without turning off the entire water access in the rest of the apt. if work was necessary in other areas of the apt. I received another estimate from Jay for painting my condo and installing a backsplash in my kitchen after I redo the counterop and cabinets. When I'm ready to embark on those project, there's no question that I will call Jay.

The finished product looked beautiful. I called Jay, he returned my phone call immediately and a few days later came over for an estimate. We received a few other estimates. His price was the most reasonable. We sent in a 50% deposit and set a time period when his men would be available to do the work. I let the workmen in at 8:30am and when I arrived home at 4:30pm, the work was completed and the place looked beautiful. I would certainly use their services again.

From the very beginning, it was a great experience. Jay was referred to me by a couple of co-workers. He showed up on time to give me an estimate, and it was the lowest one. That coupled with the referral meant that this was an easy decision. Jay's team showed up on time, and they were very respectful of our other belongings. There was one mistake they had made, by painting a wall the wrong color. But when I pointed it out they had it fixed by the next day. The whole job took 3.5 days, which was way less than we had anticipated given some of the room constraints. They were worth every penny and I've already recommended them to several other people.
Description of Work: Jay's crew painted almost the entire interior of our new house (minus the trim). He did such a good job that I asked his crew to come back a couple of months later to paint our nursery.
