Owner Barry Potter and his crew were amazing! I called to get bids from five different companies. Barry was professional and responsive, his estimate was the best price and he actually had a realistic idea of how the terrian in my backyard would complicate the fence installation (and what to do about it). All the other guys paled. He was able to do custom work to give us exactly what wanted. He also offered good advice, "Whatever you do, don't end up in court with your neighbors over a fence." He came out several times to meet with me and discuss what I wanted. I kept having to change the perimeters of the project because my neighbors kept changing their minds about whether or not they were okay with the fence I wanted. Bottom line: Barry was very flexible and was ready to deliver whatever we wanted even though the project kept changing right up until installation day. He brought extra guys so the project could be completed in one day, and he was able to add custom finishes so we got exactly the fence we wanted. I can't say enough good things about Barry and his team. We're having him back to install a stone patio and retaining wall. Highly recommend them for your future project.

Their bid was lower. The guy who came out was very nice, very knowledgeable, came right away and he made some suggestions and he brought his own lumber and woods. We will use them in the future for our fence.

Just getting around to writing this... It started out fine, with Barry listening to what I wanted and us talking thru the project (replacing a small chain link fence with a wooden one) in the backyard. He also felt the need to tell me multiple times that he was "old school". He wrote me an price estimate, which was average in the context of other proposals I had gotten, on the back of his business card. I said great, send me over a proposal either via snail or elecrtronic mail, to which he replied "or you can just write me a check and i will build you a fence". I have this little thing about knowing exactly what is/is not covered under the scope of work, materials to be used, warranties, who is calling Miss Utility, etc, etc, so I told him he needed to send over a contract for us both to sign. He agreed. As expected, I followed up twice via email and again with a phone message, and did not receive a reply. I apaprently have a different interpretation of what "old school" means; I did not think it meant being completley discourteous and lacking follow thru. I had the job done by a company (DMV Fence) that could actually be bothered to write up and sign a two page proposal. Would not recommend Mill to You.

Barry is a gem. He's an old school, honest, reliable straight shooter. He's good at giving advice and helping you make decisions. He doesn't oversell you. We drove and looked at fences of several addresses he provided and then decided to use his company after pricing and meeting with three other companies. I felt most comfortable with him and I liked that he as the owner was so hands on and didn't make me feel rushed. I'm sure he's busy but it's not a massive company and you get personal treatment. He came around during installation and we were very pleased with the workers. It was done on time and looks beautiful. Barry came by in the end to see how we liked it and collect payment. He's really great to work with and we are so pleased with the finished product. Would highly recommend his services.

We got them for Angie's List. We loved their work. They have topnotch standard of quality. Mr. Barry Potter runs this business and he was able to get back to us pretty quickly. He was very responsive via e-mail. His men that he sent in to work on the fence were professional and they did a good job. I would recommend them to everyone. I liked their amount of insight and the critical analysis that we did on the existing fence. He was able to give me numerous options of places that we could go, there were expensive, less expensive to the most helpful to the helpful but lesser than the others. He gave me three different scenarios to choose from.

Barry was a pleasure to work with. This is an owner who takes real pride in his craft. They aren't just average installers, they are carpenters. He gave me several options of wood to choose from and I decided on the cedar, which was no more expensive than the pine. I always assumed cedar was more expensive, but he assured me that it's a great long lasting product and he was absolutely right. It's beautiful and smells great! His crew was easy to work with, showed up on time, and worked a full day until they completed the job. Barry arrived upon completion to make sure the job went smoothly. I'm as confident now in the abilities of Barry and his crew as he is. They are an amazing company. Definitely in my top 5 contractors of all time and that's saying a lot!

I really liked the work that they came out to do. He came out when he said he was going to do it. He charged a really good price on what he said he was going to charge. He was straight forward. There was no playing around. He said this is what it is and this is what it costs and that was pretty much it. He didn’t want to give a run down on why it cost this. It was an excellent price for me, but he didn’t want to try and steal us or anything. He came out and did the estimate. He said he would be coming back to do the work. He came back and did the work got paid and was gone

An excellent experience with Mill To You Fence. First, let me say I had contacted Carter Fence for the repair because I had successfully used that company before. The latest experience was terrible (and reviewed on their Angies List page). So I looked for another company for help and found Mill to You Fence. Barry answered the phone when I called and I explained what needed to be done (I called on Thursday). He said he would try to get out to the house that same day and provide an estimate. On Friday I talked with Barry to answer questions he had and stated that I really needed the fence repaired as soon as possible because the fence was caving into my neighbors yard and they had their house up for sale. (Seeing a fence caving in would not make a good impression on potential buyers.) Barry said he understood and would get the work done this weekend. I got back from my son's morning basketball clinic (Saturday at 1100) and the fence was repaired!!! While I haven't inspected the work up close, from my quick look outside It looks great. Bottom line, Barry and crew did what they said they would, did it at a reasonable price, and completed the job quickly and professionally. What else would a customer want? Thanks!

The work was done very promptly and professionally, however, we were not informed on which day the work crew would arrive to do the work. We had discussed the work on Saturday, and the crew was working by Monday. While I can't complain about the speed of the work, I would have preferred to have known to be home early that afternoon to inspect the work. Otherwise, no complaints - very good work done quickly.
Description of Work: Installed new small fence section across concrete step to enclose back yard. Also installed a new fence post to support existing fence, closed gap in back fence with wire as requested, repaired gate that was moved due to tree growth and replaced metal tube on chain link fence.

Overall experience was good and the price was unbeatable. While the fence took a couple days longer to install than was estimated; Mill to You started later and finished sooner than a company installing a similar fence for a neighbor. Additionally, Mill to You showed greater attention to detail (such as no breaks in the fence so my dog can?t escape) and cost nearly 30% less. I only had two issues: First, I had to obtain the permits from city. The process, new to me at time, was time consuming and delayed construction start a few weeks. Second, Mill to You and I had a miscommunication Since the initial estimate and plan, I had emailed Mill to You with an update/change that was not included in the final product. I suggest hashing changes with Mill to You at the site and before construction starts. However, I am very happy with the fence and I have recommended Mill to You to two other families; one of which is currently working with Mill to You.
Description of Work: Mill to You installed a 42” open aluminum picket fence to cover the property line of my front yard, approximately 96'. The fence included an arched main gate and a fabricated corner gate to reach our water house and electric meter to my front yard.

Barry was very responsive and had to deal with my very difficult neighbor, which he did professionally. The fence is beautiful and he finished it as he said and was very affordable. He even had some cedar that he had purchased at a low price somewhere earlier so I got an upgrade without the upgrade price. The driveway gate was complicated since it is so wide and he had to come back a few times to fix it to deal with the intense wind, but he finally got it right. I would definitely call him again and highly recommend working with him.
Description of Work: Barry, put up a wood privacy fence around my driveway with a wood gate (18 ft wide), put up trellis on my neighbor's ugly wood fence to beautify it (and allow me to grown vines there), and a chain link fence along the property line with my neighbor (to keep a portion of the yard in full sun).

Barry Potter is very professional and responsive. I had emailed several top-rated fence companies listed on Angie's List. Barry responded immediately with a ballpark quote. (Only one of the others even bothered to note they had received my email, and then they never followed up.) Barry came out to the house within a day to confirm his original quote and then worked efficiently with our landscaper. We wanted a modern, nontraditional design and he delivered what we wanted within days. Not only that--the fence looks great!

We had a very pleasant experience working with Barry and his crew. While he's not a typical contractor that draws up detailed specs and contracts, he was pleasant to work with and presented a very sincere and honest demeanor, and he proved his worth through his work. He came, looked, offered his opinion, and was quite unassuming in his approach. We worked out enough detail with him via phone calls and e-mail, and did a "virtual" handshake via e-mail. Except for a delay caused by Sandy, Barry showed up on schedule, and his crew was remarkably efficient and professional. The end result was a great installation, precisely on the property line, and a wonderful addition to our garden setting.
Description of Work: We contacted Barry after an exhaustive search on Angie's List for someone to build a deer fence and arbor gate for our hillside garden. We had dense plantings, many that were on the property line. Other than keeping the deer out, we wanting to do something aestetically pleasing, we had no fixed idea of what we wanted.

I called Barry from Mill to You and set up an appointment to come look at the work. He called the day of to inform me of his arrival time. He was prompt, courteous and professional. we agreed to the cost and timeline and the work was done exactly as described and it looks great! A few days later Barry called to thank me for sending the check promptly and asked if he could put a small sign on the fence so others could see who installed the fence and call him. NOTE: He called before applying his sign which i greatly respect. I would highly recommend this company again without any hesitation

I cannot praise highly enough the work that this company did. The owner (Barry Potter) was the one I dealt with throughout the project. He was present every day, checking in on his staff. The job took about a week, including the days that the posts had to set in concrete. His staff were real craftsmen and tackled a very complicated project extremely well. They were able to remove the old wooden fence with minimal damage to the brick wall on which it sat, and then they had masonry skills to repair the damaged brickwork. They were able to design the fence that sloped down a slight hill so that it was attractive and maintained a similar height throughout. The work required much measuring, sawing, and creative design, all of which his two crew members did well. I highly recommend this company, particularly if the fence is more than an easy installation, requiring craftsman skills. Another benefit was that he had all the supplies on hand, and we didn't have to wait for an order to be placed. He was able to start my job with one day's notice after another fence contractor backed out the day before work was to begin. Excellent!

Great experience overall. Called Mill-To-You after Sandy knocked over a tree in our yard and destroyed sections of our fence. My call was answered immediately by Barry, who came out that very day to look at the damage and give us an estimate. He was very thorough, told us the cost of the repair and when the repair work could be done; which turned out the following week. The team who did the repair work was very professional and also very thorough. The repair work looks beautiful.

I contacted Mr. Barry Potter using Angie's list. We agreed to a day and time for him to come by, discuss the project and provide an estimate. He consulted with me on the project, made several suggestions to improve on my original notion for the project, and provided an accurate and reasonable estimate. He supervised his crew as they removed the old fence and oversaw the construction of a key component of the fence as his crew set the fence posts and prepared the site for the final construction. They worked through the heat of the day for several days and got the job completed during the time line they agreed to do so at the start of the job. My wife and I are very satisfied with the outcome of the project and we continue to get compliments, from neighbors and passers by, as to how good the fence looks.

Barry Potter, the owner, was very good about helping us figure out which sections of our property actually needed new fencing, since many of our neighbor's fences enclose our yard as well. He suggested putting mesh over a paddock type fence instead of adding our own fence against it. He personally supervised the work and was very responsive in person and by phone. The window well covers he made are perfect for letting in light, can support someone walking on them, but are still easy to lift. His prices were not inexpensive, but I am hoping that over time this will be a worthwhile investment. The work proceeded quickly and was well managed. Barry redid the style of the trellis because I did not like the style. Barry works very informally -- he does not provide written quotes or itemized bills unless asked. But he was also good about taking payment only after work was completed. He is a very pleasant and professional person as are his employees.
Description of Work: We had various sections of old fencing removed and then new picket fencing put up to enclose our yard for a dog. We had two gates put in with a trellis over one of the gates. We also reinforced the posts of fencing in a retainer wall and replaced pickets. We also subsequently had custom-built metal window well covers made for three windows.

They matched the fence exactly, and installed it in a fashion that was of higher quality. Not only that but the cost was 30% less than the fence installed by the major company (which spends a lot of money on advertising). The lesson here is always go with the small family business that has a track record and is supported by Angie's List reviews (where I found them). I later used them for some other small projects.
Description of Work: Install a fence in my back garden that would perfectly match the fence on the other side, which was installed by a major fence company. The other fence was installed as a joint project with my neighbor, and she had already had a contract with the major company.

Barry Potter is a true professional. He came through with an estimate at the time that he did his walk-through and installed the fence less than a week later. The entire process was easy and straightforward -- he is by far the best construction-related contractor I have ever worked with. The final fence looks phenomenal and greatly exceeds my expectations. When we needed a slight change, he did it at no extra charge to us. I would gladly work with him on another fencing-related project.

I received a prompt appointment with Mr. Potter after calling. He arrived at my property on time, listened to my concerns, and considered project options. There was an old chain link fence around my home with two gates that were unsecured. I wanted to replace the chain link fence with a cedar fence. Mr. Potter suggested encasing the old posts with cedar, rather than trying to remove and replace them. His plan also involved removing a ton of overgrown bushes in the path of the fence. His workers constructed the fence while I was away. I returned to the most beautifully, well-constructed fence and gates that met all of my specifications. I was tremendously pleased. If you need a fence and want it constructed skillfully and in an affordable manner, call Mill to You Fences.

Barry is a fantastic guy with a fantastic company. I am extremely pleased with the outcome of the fence and thought they did a superb job. The original estimate was around $5400 for a cedar horiztonal fence about 57ft long with a small retaining wall on one side. It is gorgeous and the gate is an eye catcher. He might not be the cheapest company there is but for the quality the price is worth it. The only reason why I gave a B on price is because the total came above the estimate by a large amount and the lenth of the fence was shorter than originally planned with the estimate and the retaining wall was the same length for the estimate. So there just seemed to be some disconnect with the material cost. But over all I am very pleased.
