We have a white picket wood fence that's propably 15 years old that has most pickets rotting along with some base boards. I researched fencing companies on AL and called 4. One company never sent an estimate (although they claimed to have come out and looked at the fence) and the other 3 companies gave estimates anywhere between 5k and 8k to replace the entire fence. At the time (several months ago) we just didn't want to put that kind of money into it. But the pickets were getting really bad so I again tried - this time specifiying that we only wanted the pickets replaced. Again, I called 4 (two were the same I called before as their estimates had expired) and while I left messages at 3 of the companies and didn't hear back for a few days - Barry Potter from Mill-To-You called back immediately and came out that day. Barry looked over the fence and said that all the posts were in great shape, we only needed a few base boards replaced and he would replace all pickets with cedar for $1920!!! This was a Thursday and on Monday his crew showed up and replaced the pickets within 5 hours. Barry and his crew were professional, polite, hard working and meticulous. Our fence looks amazing and at more than half the cost of the other large fencing companies who probably would have ended up buying their pickets from Barry as he owns a mill! I highly recommend Mill-To-You. We're actually still working with Barry on some other projects that we had as we like and trust him so much.

I called Barry at Mill to You Fences after receiving an outrageously high quote from Long Fence. Barry was able to handle the whole transaction over the phone and email. He dropped by the site when I was at work and quoted me an estimate by email. After a few more email communications we agreed on a scope of work. His team executed the work in under two weeks during peak season. He also saved me time and money by painting the fence materials at his shop to match the existing color of the perimeter fence. This was one of the most efficient transactions that I have ever experienced with a home contractor in Washington DC. Mill to You Fences comes with my highest recommendation.

Great service. We got 3 quotes and his was the lowest. He showed up for an estimate within 1 day of my call, and had the fence completed within 1 week of me agreeing to the work. Fence looks great!

I called on a Wednesday and Barry appeared that afternoon as he promised. We walked the site and he suggested several options that would meet our needs. To my surprise, he promised to have the job done that Saturday. As the price was in line with my expectations, I decided to have him do the work. Barry and his workers showed up Saturday and laid out stakes and lines so we could confirm the site and the size. With my wife now present, Barry walked her through the process and discussed how he thought we could best work with the grade. My wife offered some comments and asked for some changes. Barry is an excellent listener and a natural problem solver. He incorporated our wants into a design that works really well. At each stage of the work, he gave us an opportunity to comment and offered options we might want to consider. This is the kind of person I enjoy working with and whose judgment I tend to trust. The work crew is professional. They work efficiently and quietly, clean up after themselves, and do high quality work. The fence is first rate cedar. It looks even better than I hoped, smoothly following the grade. Thanks to Barry and his crew, we now have a "new" backyard and our pets are safe. My wife, who is sometimes more critical than I am, is delighted with job. I anticipate using this company again for other tasks I have in mind.

The experience working with Mill to You was wonderful. The owner, Barry Potter, responded promptly to our request for an estimate. He was very knowledgeable about all types and styles of fencing and offered many suggestions that were helpful to us in our decision making. Once we decided on the type and material of fencing we wanted, the wood was ordered and a date was scheduled for installation dependent on the weather. The Mill to You employees were wonderful. They arrived promptly on the day of installation, and were very professional and skilled - true craftsmen. Mr. Potter arrived at the house on the first day of installation to go over the final details of the project with us. He stayed involved the whole time stopping by throughout the two days of the project. We have had many compliments and requests for the Mill to You contact information from neighbors and others who say the fence is beautiful. We are very happy with the final result!!

Businesses like Mill to You are the reasons we subscribe to Angie's List. Barry and his crew did a great job in installing around 200 feet of cedar fencing and 500 or so feet of wire deer fencing for the dog. While his prices were similar to others on Angie's List, he was professional, timely and thorough. He removed all debris on the property. He worked with our plat and found the right placement of the fence.

Barry's carpenters did a superb job of accommodating a slight slope (of the yard) into their design, such that the latticework lines up true and uniform despite the odd angles involved. The crew's work was excellent throughout -- they showed up on time, worked carefully but expeditiously, and produced a handsome, well-wrought fence that enhances the landscape. I couldn't be happier with the end result (or with the process -- everyone involved was a consummate professional, and it shows in their work!)

They did a very good job, and I am pleased with work. If needed, I will definitely use their services again. I liked that I spoke with the owner when I called and not a receptionist or call center. The owner was very accommodating with my schedule. He came out on a Sunday morning for my estimate and came out on a Saturday for the work, so I wouldn't have to take a day off during the week.

They came as agreed and finished within the time estimate. The work is top notch and very precise. The finishing touches make it look great.

The owner, Barry Potter, came for an estimate on a Sunday morning, withing three days of my original call. I had had two previous estimates, one higher and one about the same. Since the cost of replacing the fence was to be shared between me and my neighbor, I wanted to be especially careful about obtaining a good estimate from a reliable contractor and Barry seemed a good choice. The estimate for the fence was $800, with the new gate and post straightening on another section of my existing fence an extra $250. I liked Barry and his suggestions for how to handle the removal and replacement with a slight change in design, and because of a weather- related delay on another job, he was able to have a crew out to do the job just a few days later. They arrived in mid-morning and had the job completed by late mid-afternoon. They did a great job on the fence and the gate and I am very satisfied. As with a previous recent and unrelated job with another service firm, my only complaint is that there was no follow-up contact made after the completion of the work. However that's a small detail and I would not hesitate in using Mill-to-You again.

I called early in the morning and the owner came for an estimate within two hours. He told me they could not match the posts since they were round and required special order. I agreed to square posts and they were able to come and repair the fence that day. They were also able to repair a few broken pickets by matching the tips of the old fence with new picket bodies. They were very pleasant and professional.

Barry gave me different options for fencing and design. Discussed with me how I wanted it to look and what was important (keeping my cats and dogs inside). Came on time and got it built.

I told him that I was closing on my house June 30th and that I have a dog so I was worried about getting the fence up quickly, and he had the front yard fence completely up by the time I got home from the settlement so I could bring my dog out touse the potty without worry she would run into the street. I didn’t even know that he was coming that week. My new neighbor was raising h*** with me about fencing in my backyard because it would make their side yard seem smaller and they wanted me to put the fence on the inside of my hedges, but he went over and took care of it calmly. My other next door neighbor loved the fence and the fact that he put up an extra piece of fence that kept people from using their side yard as a short cut through the neigborhood. There are people more expensive than him and people cheaper than him but he knows what he is doing and how to work around any kind of problem and I knew I was going to get a good job, so I think he was fair. I had already seen a lot of the fences he did in my old neigborhood and new what kind of quality I was going to get. He has done a lot of other work inside and outside my house since then and I will be using him to install my new kitchen soon.

The quality of their work was excellent.

They were quick, reliable and were easy to work with. We have worked with them for a number of years. I would recommend them for any kind of fence work and I would use their services for fence work in the future too.

Barry was very timely and responsive, providing us with a very reasonable quote within a few days of our first contact. He was helpful in meeting our needs, providing several options based on our budget. Barry even suggested another contractor for landscaping work required. Barry personally made sure the work was to our standards, fixing a small detail after the job was finished to make sure the work was to our liking. Very nice guy, good quality work at a reasonable price.

Barry answered on the first call and told me he would provide me with a quote a couple of days later. He called and we discussed the quote and the work that was going to be done. When the workmen showed up, they started right at 9:00 AM and finished early. They even hauled away some junk lumber I didn't need anymore. The fence looks great and the backyard gate is the best I have ever seen that hasn't been metal. I would recommend this company strongly.

I had hired another fence builder who left the area right after all the materials where delivered to my house some kind of serious emergency. I talk to some of the folks in my neighborhood who had the nicest fences and was given Barry's name a number of times. I called Barry and he came out the same day to look at the job. He gave me a great price to do the job because he knew the first guy left with my deposit. I had a 50' retaining wall built that was 4 feet high filled in with 4 dump trucks of dirt. Then he built a privacy fence on top of that and around the rest of my yard - 120 L' . It only took him 6 days. When he was done he took $500 worth of materials back to the home improvement store for me, that the other guy had ordered too much of and had my money refunded to me at no extra charge. He did a great job.

I called 3 or 4 times & never received a call back. It stinks because he seemed like a good guy & an honest business man. Apparently not. To purposely avoid work is fine, but after an agreement to do the work has been made, if the company can no longer do the work, everyone deserves a returned phone call to let them know. Needless to say, I am not happy. Call Mill to You at your own risk. Their unprofessionalism has cost me a lot of time.
