Description of Work: I have used Michael & Sons a couple of times for plumbing issues and I have to say each time when the work is done it is very professional and exceeds my expectations. I looked for other companies because of cost but I must say you get what you pay for and I have not been disappointed. Unfortunately I have another issue and will more than likely call them again. I would definitely tell a friend or neighbor to use them if asked for a dependable plumbing service.

Description of Work: The hot and cold water spigots that supply water to our washing machine were so badly corroded that they were leaking. I called Michael and Sons on Friday and had an appointment scheduled for the following Tuesday. The technician who arrived was great. He was very nice and didn't leave a trace of dust behind. My only complaint would be that the price was steeper than other companies that I called - but the work and labor comes with a guarantee and the plumber was licensed and insured. This piece of mind was worth a few extra bucks. I'll definitely call them again.

Description of Work: Called and was able to arrange service the next day. Initially, I had two things that needed a plumber's attention. 1. Needed to replace a toilet. 2. Had an outside water spigot that was incorrectly connected to our hot water line.

Description of Work: We had electrical and plumbing issues at the same time so I called Michael and Sons because I had heard they could handle different services quickly. Sure enough we had an electrician and plumber out the same day as I called. Both were very professional, prompt and diligent on their work. When it appeared that we needed to replace the whole circuit panel and move it to a different location, the electrician came back on New Years Eve day and worked very hard into the evening until he completed his work, despite the holiday. With our clogged drains, the plumber used a high tech high pressure system that made the 80 year old pipes clean as a whistle.

Description of Work: An electrical outlet melted two cord plugs and was smoking and smelling. This was on a Sunday morning and after calling the Fire Department who came for inspection and told us to get an electrician quickly, we called Michael and sons, among others. They responded quickly and were the only one among several on Angie's List who did. Guilmer arrived, took off his shoes at the front door, prepared the work site and did the job quickly, rewiring and replacing the outlet. He was courteous and efficient. The cost for an emergency call, we thought, was a bit much. However, we were desperate to be put at ease that no hidden sparks or smoldering was behind our 107-year-old wooden walls. Plus, beggars can't be choosers. The following day, other services we had phoned on Sunday returned our calls but Guilmer had beaten them to the task. We would use the group again.

Description of Work: Our house settled over the past 60 years and crushed the “clay” main sewer pipe that ran from the house to the street. Michael & Son Services Inc. had to jack hammer our bathroom floor and use a sub-contractor to run a special machine that pushed a pipe under our house to the front yard. Then Michael & Son Services Inc. dug up our yard and finished the connection to the street sewer pipe. While the yard was dug up they also replacing the 60 year old main water supply line. The work was done well, quickly, and surprisingly clean. John C. Flood wanted to do an exploratory dig from our bathroom all the way to the front yard for $3600, and then what? They refused to give an estimate. No way!

Description of Work: I had two gas leaks that were most likely the result of a competitor that installed a new furnace a few months ago. The other company may have been cheaper than Michael and Sons but when I discovered the problem, I returned to Michael and Sons for the repair since the problems were guaranteed to be fixed correctly and I trust Michael and Sons for the repair. The technician whom came out was Ryan and he was a seasoned plumber and someone whom had many years of experience and he knew exactly where to look for correcting the problem. I had two moderate leaks and one went to a brand new furnace that was installed by a competitor. You can probably guess who/what was the cause there and the other was to the other end of the line which did not experience a problem until now and only one thing changed in the space and that was the removal and installation of new furnaces. I am so glad that Michael and Sons was there to correct these two important issues and they overshadowed the small expansion tank problem that lead me into the basement to fix the problem. If you are in doubt, I recommend that all major repairs be done by Michael and Sons. I know whom I plan to call in the future and I recommend Michael and Sons for plumbing and for gasline related issues. Their prices may be higher than the competitors but it is because the technicians are excellent and are paid higher which is an indication that the person doing the repair like Ryan are OUTSTANDING. Ask for Ryan if you plan on having any gas/plumbing line work done to your home. Thanks-Gary

Description of Work: We requested a quote from Michaels and son to run another water line for an outside spigot. We have an unfinished basement so there were no walls or ceiling in the way. It was simply run a line and poke through the outside wall and install spigot. They quoted $1600 for this job. When we did not sign up right away they dropped the price to $1200. We went with some one else and they charged $400.

Description of Work: I used Michael & Son and they do everything. They have handymen, electricians and plumbers. We are using a difference technician we found off Angie's List because you have to pay for a certified technician with them because the handy men do not to electric. That is a draw back for them. They were last here for plumbing back in February or April.
