We had and electrical problem. We were having intermittent power from an outlet. The tech told us that we needed to upgrade our service panel. We later found out that the panel did not need to be replace. The problem was only a loose connection at the wall outlet. We paid over $3000 on this service. The panel was installed poorly to top it all off.

Michael and Son really let us down. The first appointment was to de-install the dishwasher, refrigerator, and toilet - in order for the flooring folks to install hardwood floors. We thought this had gone well, but later in the week discovered that the dishwasher had not been completed disconnected; wiring for the dishwasher needed to disconnected. We immediately called, but Micheal and Son could not come back out for 4 days. In the mean time, we had an appointment with them to come back and re-install the toilet and refrigerator. They were supposted to arrive between 4:00 - 8:00 pm on a Tuesday. I took off work to be here. However, no one showed up during this time window. I received a call from then at 8:00 asking if anyone had arrived. I said no. About an hour later, someone called and said he could be there in another hour - did I still want the service. I said yes because we really wanted the toilet installed. He showed up around 10:00 and did a good job re-installing the toilet. But, he did not re-attach the frig plumbing. Rather, he said that work would need to wait for another person. The next day, someone came to detach the wiring for the dishwasher. That allowed the floors to be completed - but remember this is a week later. Several days later, the original workman came to re-attach the dishwasher and the frig. The dishwasher was successfully re-installed. However, the workman did not use proper methods for re-connecting the frig. As a result, he damaged the brand new wood floor -- left 31" of indentations and scrapes on the new floor. I spoke with Michael and Sons the next day. They asked me to send pictures. I took the pics that night and sent to them. In the mean time, I talked with the floor installers to find out the cost for restoring the floors. Their quote was around $960. Michael and Sons refused to pay that amount, stating the cost was too high. Only after extensive persistance on my part were they willing to pay $600, with a $200 voucher for future work (like I really want to use them again!). The experience was completely unsatisfactory. They damaged the floors, but refused to pay the full cost for restoring them. I strongly recommend that you do not use this company.

The price was too high so I didn't use them. Their price was unrealistic. They need to make their quotes more in line with others. They were not the worst but they were not the best either. They were punctual. They were a very professional company. I would probably not use them in the future because they are not competitive. They are too expensive.

They were wonderful. They set up an appointment and showed up. They not only did an estimate, they make suggestions. They were just too high. They are noted for being high.

They came on time. the plumber assessed the problem. Went about fixing it. He added a biological cleanser & left a complimentary supply for me to use. He gave an estimate on another issue, I paid, he left & latter mailed a money off coupon. Good company. Professional individual worker. They give back to the community by helping those in need in my tangential neighborhoods with free work & materials.

I discovered a steady flow of water coming from the base of the toilet bowl tank in the powder room. After shutting off the water supply, I rang Michael & Son. Two very polite technicians arrived within a couple hours to provide an estimate. After disassembling the tank from the bowl they pointed out the crack in the tank where the bowl and tank meet. I opted for a new toliet and tank instead of a repair that may not hold for long. An accurate estimate along with detailed steps and approximately how long the job would take, including a trip to a nearby warehouse for the replacement toliet was immediately provided. The work was done in a very professional manner, the technicians were neat and thoroughly cleaned up after the job was done. Since I had used Michael & Son for other minor plumbing jobs and was very pleased with the service, I didn't hesitate to contact Michael & Son to do this job. As with previous jobs, the technicians were dispatched the same day and the work done to my complete satisfaction.

The technician they sent was extremely professional and very helpful. He knew his job and offered suggestions when appropriate. He went out of his way to be helpful and I have since scheduled additional electrical work in my home with Michael & Sons because of his explempary behavior, and have asked speciifically for the same technician. It would be great if all their service people were as nice. and competent as he is!!

I called Michael & Son's and the rep was able to schedule the furnace appointment for the next day and the other appointments within a few days of my call. The technicians arrived on time, wore shoe covers, and completed the work that day. I liked that they gave me different options for the repairs and they didn't pressure me to go with most expensive option. I will definitely use this company again.

I called Michael & Sons to clean my dryer vent/hose. The man who came said he was going to remove the hose to take it out to the truck to clean. Well, I was a little shocked by this because the hose goes up through the ceiling across to the other side of the townhouse, then connects to front of townhouse. When I asked if he was sure he could get the hose back in, he looked at me like I was an idiot and said yes. So he takes out the hose, takes it to the truck to clean it, comes back in to re-attach it, and guess what folks...ding ding ding...reality hits, he's trying to figure out where the hose goes, let alone how to get it back in. Well, don't worry, this story gets even better. When he shoves the hose back up into the ceiling he can't figure out what next. Now the really brainy part happens, he pulls the hose back down, takes it outside, he goes to the truck, gets a saw, yes I said a saw...then he proceeds to take the saw and start sawing off the vent cover attached to the outside of the townhouse. Well, as you can imagine, I started screaming, he called his manager, talked for a minute, handed his phone to me...when I tried to explain to the manager what his employee was doing, the manager started screaming at me. Can you believe it, he wouldn't even let me explain the idiot was sawing off my vent cover. Finally it was agreed he would get the hose back in by cutting a hole in the bathroom ceiling, then attach to the outside. Now if you can imagine I was billed for this. Now that might seem acceptable if Michael & Sons had of repaired the bathroom ceiling but they didn't, I had to hire another company to fix their mess!!! I would NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN! LET ME REPEAT, NEVER! Totally unsatisfied customer.

After several phone calls by the technician back to his supervisor, where the bill was reduced somewhat, I never fully got credit for the secound coupon, without them charging me for a second service call. I gave up and paid the bill.

I shut off my water main, took the valve parts to the hardware store and for about $6 & 20 minutes time, my toilet valve was fixed...by ME and has worked fine ever since. I had another company come & snake the sink. He was here for close to 2 hours checking all my plumbing...from 2nd floor to the basement & charged me about $150. Call anyone but Michael & Sons.

Overall it was a good experience. I gave "B" ratings for price and professionalism because the quote seemed a bit high, and the electrician left several items laying around after he completed the job and departed. Perhaps the price was high because Michael and Son dispatched an electrician within an hour of my call. Perhaps the electrician left a few items around because he worked until well past sunset and couldn't see those items. Quality of the electrician's work is very good, and combined with the company's responsiveness, I rate them "A" overall. I wouldn't use them again because I don't anticipate needing such complex work on such short notice in the future. I would recommend them to anyone who wants quality on short notice and is willing to pay for those. If you're a DIY type, you can probably do the work for much less out of pocket cost.

We called to get our sink and garbage disposal hooked up after getting new cabinets and counters. They responded on time and the employee was very professional BUT they wanted to charge $850 to re hook up the sink and reat-attach the garbage disposal, the garbage disposal alone was quoted at $350. The tech was completely understanding when we declined service, but I suppose he should be because he still gets paid to make service calls driving his Mercedes work truck. I think this would be a good company to hire if you were not concerned about the price you spend, but for the folks not independently wealthy there are better options. We got the work done the next day for $150 by a local handyman.

Had Michael and Sons come to townhouse that was under contract to fix a few things the inspector for the buyer had found. First the HVAC guy showed, on time, and he was shaking his head. One of my A/C units was listing slightly to the side and the buyer's inspector thought this was out of code. The Michael and Sons guy disagreed but helped me to straighten the unit using a 2 by 4 and some mulch. He had the same thought I did -- the inspector had to find something to write up! I could tell he thought it was hardly worth having to charge me the service call for being dispatched, as he was there for less than 10 min, but I knew there was no getting out of that. Very professional and realistic - I was thankful he didn't think a huge project needed to commissioned to solve a problem that was never an issue to begin with. The same day I had an electrician from Michael and Sons come to fix an arc fault circuit breaker. Very simple job, but the work had to be done by a licensed electrician. He was quick and courteous. I had a coupon that ended up not being applicable; instead, he was able to apply a 10% off coupon so I still saved a few bucks.

A pipe broke under the concrete in our basement so we called to get a quote from Michael and Sons. The person doing the estimate was knowledgeable and helpful but unfortunately their prices were too high for our budget. We were able to use a smaller plumbing company for about 1/4th the price.

We called Michael and Son late on a Friday after the gas company had found a leak in our gas range. The stove was ancient and fried, and had not been installed properly, and so Washington Gas shut off service to our house. Based on a 4pm call, Michael and Son had a plumber dispatched, who was able to cap the gas line and install a shut off valve as required by code. He stayed till 730pm. We were not charged an emergency fee, and because the plumber was a certified gas technician, he was able to re-open the gas line to the whole house so we didn't have to spend a single night without heat and hot water. The plumber was helpful, knowledgable and very polite. I'm thrilled with the service. We also requested an estimate for a major electrical project; the electricians who came were also very nice and great to work with for the purpose of an estimate. The cost is high, so we're still thinking about that part of things, but I have a ton of confidence in Michael and Son based on our experience so far.

Michael and Son's stood up us up on our appointment and never called us back that day or the following week to reschedule.

I would refer Michael and Sons to anyone looking for a large, professional plumbing company to either install new plumbing, repair existing plumbing and/or diagnose a problem. Professional, polite, clean and fast. Really outstanding. I have already recomended them to neighbors who are having plumbing issues.

I purchased a foreclosed home that needed repair. The toilets needed to be replaced. I ordered their special and scheduled a time for the technician to complete the installation. They came out on time and did a great job.

Great job. We we done by 3:00 am and went to work within a few hours. Ryan was very professional and excelled in his job. I would definitely use them again if necessary. In addition, their prices were less expensive for the emergency service, which we greatly appreciated.

They're able to get the job done but the charge is more than I would like to pay. At least I'm able to call and have them out within 12 hours which is nice.

We selected M&S because the electrician that came to give us our estimate, Jose Ortiz, was professional and knowledgable. Other estimates came in around the same. Quality - we couldn't be more pleased with the results. The lights really updated the look of the house, and Jose was very helpful and spent a good amount of time working with us on the placement of the lights and any structural issues (we have an air conditioning unit in the attic, plus work around the beams) - all of course before making any holes or cuts in the plaster. The upstairs lights were in plaster ceilings, and we were warned with each estimate that there would likely be some patch work needed since plaster can chip. There was some chipping around the cutouts, but Jose was able to keep it to a minimum that can be patched pretty easily. M&S was very responsive from the date of our estimate through completion of work. The only criticism that we have is that we were told (with each estimate, not just M&S) that all of the work could be done in one day. It actually took a total of 3 days, with Jose working alone 2 of the 3 days and with one coworker on the 3rd day. Jose was very apologetic about it, but should have been more realistic in their original estimate.
