Plumbing and electrical work. Everything was completed as requested on a timely and professional way.

They were supposed to install a new 50 gallon tank, but on the day of service (one hour before coming) the technician informed us that the 50 gallon one they had wouldn't fit in our unit, and he had no idea when he would be able to get his hands on one! We could either get a 40 gallon installed today or wait until an undefined amount of time for a new one. I don't understand how it could be that difficult to know when you can get the product when you gave someone an estimate with it. I had written the check out for the 50 gallon tank (which is what we were told we would get), and instead we got the 40 gallon one. When my husband said he would have to get another check from me since I was out of town, they told him they needed that one and would refund us the difference! No apologies or real explanation for giving us the smaller tank. When they came out to give an estimate and inspection they charged us which wasn't explained to us upon making the initial appt. I used this company because of the high rating on Angie's List but am not at all impressed with their customer service. I would not recommend them.

The tile installer (Mr Kin?) is a true craftsman and very meticulous. We had mirrors above sinks, so had to have one shortened. I think if the granite people had measured more carefully and fully thought out the installation, it would have been better. Had to move 2 electrical outlets because splashback too high and one of the reinstalls was faulty and had to be redone. Also had to have stoppers on sinks refitted which was not done until much later.

They did a lot of diagnostic things when it was just the starter. They overcharged for services.

Service was excellent, technician was professional, timely and clean. He was knowledgeable and answered questions patiently. This was our second service call with this provider and each time we were pleased with the work. We are planning more improvements in the spring and will call them again.

My heat went out on Saturday morning. I called them and they were able to come out the next morning. It was discovered that my entire system would have to be replaced. Jermain Allen was very compassionate and arranged for another technician to come look at the problem that afternoon. Daniel Moore came that evening and agreed that I needed and entirely new H VAC system, OUCH! He was also very compassionate and made very helpful recommendations as to which unit would work best for me and at a reasonable cost for this very pricey project. The install was set up for Tuesday but a crew came to clean the ducts that Monday. My father was here, as I was working that day and said that Darrel Allen was quick and professional although I did find a bit of a mess around my vents went I came home. The next day, during the significant snow storm,Roberto Guerra and Angel Flores came promptly and worked steady for 5.5 hours. They were very professional, clean and I hardly knew they were there. I now thankfully have heat in my home during these very cold months and would recommend Michael and Son to anyone who asks :)

They are always polite, and on time and have no problem calling to remind and to let me know when they are on the way. I just feel they are a little high on their prices and for a senior citizen that matters, so I will be shopping around for new heat pump

They came out to do electrical work. I would highly recommend them.

The work was excellent and the plumber was extremely knowledgeable.

The whole job was much more than the estimate.

Original salesman fired, he ordered wrong size, even though there was record of the measured size by one of their installers. Resized. No effort to talk to customer. Brought piece, fitted it and left. No follow-up call. Felt no value as a customer. Did not respond to emails. Installer was great and fixture works fine. But no instructions, etc on its use. Huge delay between the re-order and the final placement.

Eric (Plummer)was superb. Knowledgable, personable, overall an excellent representative of Micheal & Sons. A special mention to your dispatcher that day also.

Although this is normally a pretty straightforward process, he had to upgrade the circuit breaker. He explained everything he had to do. The only criticism I have is that we were expecting him much earlier in the day. We understood from what he said that he had to come from a great distance, so I suspect he was called to fill in.

They sold us a unit that was too large for the rest of the system in the house. They did not connect the thermostat correctly to the AC system. They had to come out on three separate occasions since they did not know how to fix it on each appointment. I would call to complain in the office and no one wanted to talk to me or return my calls. They are one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. The only thing they do well was put down protective covering on the floors to not leave a mess.

Tried to upsell. They when they couldn't deliver on a contract took a long time to refund money

We have always been happy with them.

I figured out their game. They run your house value through an algorithm to maximize the price they charge. They don't charge for the actual value of the work. I'm sure the amount they make by gouging the high end market (i.e. folks that don't care about money or don't know the value of the work) makes up for losing legitimate work. Don't ever use this service unless you want to get ripped off. In addition, the plumber was incredulous when I called them on their BS. Not polite or professional. They definitely trained their folks in manipulation tactics (trust me, I know what they are. I worked as a door to door sales; I quit b/c ultimately you made your $ by manipulating weak willed individuals. It is dirty work and I hate seeing people taken advantage of.) Dirty company. They won't ever get my business again. Scumbags. Also, I went against my prime rule, if a company advertises on TV they (99.9%) are terrible (e.g. for those in consulting business think IBM, Accenture...). The best companies are turning work away and don't have to advertise (e.g. Bain, McKinsey.)

The service provided in December was a part of the service contract we have with Michael & Sons. We are very pleased with this service and would recommend them to others.

They are our go-to folks for those household fixes that just spring up on you.

Called Michael and Son during a cold snap when I had problems with heat. They were prompt in responding. Technician estimated the cost to relocate existing baseboard heaters and install additional units to sufficiently heat the space. Quoted price was on the higher end (2k range) compared to other estimates. Technician then offered to check our electrical system & told me the black coloring on my utility box cable showed surge problems & that these surges could affect the neighboring units (however, all our units our self-contained). He recommended installing a surge protector to prevent future damage & gave me two choices. I chose the least expensive which was in the $200 range. I went up to take a shower, leaving my family member to supervise the installation. A few minutes later my family member called me down. In my absence, the technician was trying to sell a higher priced surge protector - at TWICE the cost. This attempt was a bait and switch tactic and unnecessary as the decision had already been made. Minutes after the technician left, our power tripped & continued to do so on a regular basis - several times an hour. Prior to installation, the power never tripped once. I had to call out other electricians to fix the issue. Both electricians stated the black color on the utility box cabling pointed out by the Michael and Son technician did NOT indicate surge damage. Overall, dissatisfied with Michael & Son overpriced fee, their attempt at a bait and switch, & the fact that my electricity stopped functioning after their surge protector installation.

We have used Michael and Son for a while now, but after this most recent experience, we are done with them. We called them to replace a broken toilet valve and put in a new toilet, which we provided. When the technician removed the old toilet, the tiles from our floor came up, and it was clear that the subfloor was wet as well. The technician gave us a price of over $5,000 to remove the tiles and place a new subfloor and new tiles. He also indicated that our cast-iron plumbing tree was about to fail and quoted us $3,200 to replace that. We were about to go ahead with the work when a trusted friend told me that an entire bathroom should not cost $5,000. I went upstairs and got the technician to stop; I told him we would follow up and let him know whether we wanted him to continue. A few hours later, I noticed he'd left the house without turning the water back on -- he came back and fixed that, after replacing the sink valves in the master bath "for free." That day, I contacted two other contractors who have indicated that $5,000 to replace just a floor was far too much; the labor they estimated on an entire new bathroom, including painting, cabinets, countertops, etc. is $5,000. Oh, and another plumber told us that our cast-iron plumbing tree will outlast the rest of the house and there's nothing to worry about. So my days of being a customer of Michael and Son are over. If you have an emergency and absolutely no one else will come, give them a try. Otherwise, buyer beware.

Everything was good with the service. They are professional and prompt. I have been happy with their work.

Not covered by costly home maintenance plan. Technicians always trying to upsell and pressure for more services. Came to do maintenance check on A/C, claimed needed to replace whole system with $9,000 quote or wouldn't last through end of week. Components suggested for repair again not covered by home warranty plan. System still working great as of today, often too cold.

Showed up on time and ready to install.

had some problems getting their replacement inserted between beam and pipe. finally managed. also upgraded to current light bulb. is working properly. I have, however, requested on a couple of times about always getting a sales pitch on another service or product and that I did not appreciate...even when I told the team over and over...please do not try to sell me something. Because of cost and the sales portion, I will no doubt search for another person for electrical.
