I called in the a.m. one day; they came in the a.m. the next. The tech was polite & considerate & knowledgeable. Pointed out that the installers had done wrong, and noticed the shuttering on starting, but wasn't quite sure what the problem was. He gave me a detailed estimate on the repairs, which I agreed to. We set up a subsequent service call the next day. Two service people came the next day. They drained my hot-water system. While one did the plumbing to install some new equipment, the other looked up the service manual on our new, high-tech boiler and pointed out all the shortcuts and omissions of the company that originally installed the boiler. The plumbing part took a few hours. Then they refilled the system and fired up the boiler. It shuttered. They spent the next two hours figuring out what was wrong, taking things apart and trying different things. They identified three problems: 1) the intake and exhaust pipes were improperly sized for the length and number of bends in the run; and 2) leaves had been sucked into the air intake, reducing airflow to the combustion chamber; and 3) the air intake and exhaust pipes were improperly pitched away from the boiler, so instead of draining into the boiler as they were supposed to, they filled up with water. They corrected these problems, which took the entire afternoon and were not included in my estimate, and didn't leave until everything worked perfectly. It still works perfectly. In addition, they took great care to make sure that the plumbing joints were not only properly installed, but attractively installed; they covered their shoes with clean shoe covers every time they entered our house, and they left the work area in better condition than when they found it. Michael and Son is very expensive, in my view. But in my experience, they don't guess at things, they don't leave things to chance, they have a service mentality, they don't want to leave until everything is working properly, they take pride in their work, and they respect a homeowner's property. I'm glad I called them & won't hesitate to do it again when I need them.

It was accomplished in a very professional manner. The installation crew arrived on time. They did have to replace the duct baffles that had been initially provided as they were the wrong size. Subsequently they had to return with the correct sized baffles. We are very please with Michael and Sons and will strongly recommend them.

We continue to use them and recommend them to others for sure.

They are punctual, have reasonable price, got the work done, and state the day of the estimate. All of the supplies are available with them, for speedy repair.

The company is comprised of many excellent service professionals who are prompt, courteous, and capable. While their price is a little higher than most, you can be assured that the work will be done right and if there ever is a problem, they guarantee that the problem will be fixed. It is easy to schedule an appointment and they always call to notify when they are on the way. I will continue to use their services.

Mr. Brown manner was nothing but professional. He knew what to do and how to get it done without disrupting any house hold routine or personal interruptions. We work from home and this repair was going on as if we were not there. The work was successful, and the area was left clean thanks to Mr. Brown's work ethic and I am sure Michael & Son's policy. Michael & Son charge by the job and not the hour .This was an incentive for me in my selection. I was highly satisfied with the price and service. Pressure valve Water Heater UPDATE: 3/13/14 One month follow up called Michael & Sons in Alexandria. The experience was pretty good. I've used them 3 times. Their staff was excellent. They have 24 hour service. When I called for service, the person said someone would call within the hour and they did. They called within half an hour and they were here within the hour. They are expensive but they are the only ones I've used for the last several years but they stand by their work and they come immediately. They explain everything to me. For the very first major job, I needed a toilet and the toilet on their truck was $800. They give a written estimate before they begin work and they list what they are going to do and the parts line by line. A big box store was still open so I went there and bought a $99 toilet so their markup is ridiculous. I haven't compared their prices because I don't use plumbers that often. They do excellent work. I will absolutely continue using them.

The price was too high and I got it done about 25% less.

Since he did not find the leak, he told me to call back in the morning. When I told neither my neighbor nor I were available in the morning and that we we had been available that evening while I had been waiting for a plumber for nine hours, he told that he had just gotten the call. So my neighbor's ceiling is still leaking because he did not find the leak. He seemed very tired-and he must have since he was working till 11:10 pm and it was not all his fault. But Michael and Son was the one who mismanaged his time and my time.

My pipe burst last night and Michael and sons had a plumber at my house by late morning today. The plumber, Shaw Tajzai, realized that he needed to break into my wall to fix the pipe and called and got Michael and Sons restoration services who sent a team out quickly. They not only opened up the wall but they finished the water remediation work that another contractor had not finished. Shaw explained why my pipe had burst and showed me how to prevent it in the future. When he fixed the pipe he insulated it fully to prevent additional problems. The restoration services team led by Anthony, was also great. They showed me areas of concern for mold, set up the heaters and dehumidifiers and told me how the process would unfold. I will never stray from Michael and Sons in the future.

The bathroom looks okay. I didn?t realize the tile needed grout. So I am disappointed to see a deal with caulk and grout cheaper than what I paid. It took a month for the work to be conducted. I called told them I had a coupon from Angie?s list and they insisted on having an appraisal first. So I stayed home for someone to come out for 15 minutes to quote me a much higher price. I told him I already paid for it with a coupon. He had to call it in. We cleared that up and had to schedule someone else to come back another day to conduct the work. I stayed home another day and they completed the work in about 30 minutes. I thought they were to do the entire bathroom to include the tub, sink and toilet. They only did the tub. Again, it looks okay, but to complete the look I desire, I need grout. The work required probably one person, but two arrived. The other was in the other bathroom and failed to utilize air freshener or the fan in the bathroom. Overall I would probably not reach out to this provider again, simply because of price and time.

They did very well. Edwin and crew were very courteous and polite. I was very appreciative of that. The office was also very good and polite. They also gave me a new power box.

Michael & Son sent a representative to our home to give us a quote. He showed up in the last five minutes of his four-hour window. He was very professional. However, we did not receive the quote/proposal until 26 days after the initial visit, and it came via snail mail. All other contractors got us a quote within two weeks and delivered via email. The quote from Michael & Son was MORE THAN TWICE the next highest quote. (Quotes we received were $21K, $23.8K, $24.3K, $29.8K, and Michael & Son came in at $59,845). Don't waste your time.

The men showed up within 3 hours of the initial call. They were very professional, friendly, clean, and quick. They had the job done in no time. I thought the price was a little high but I didn't do any price comparison so I dont really know. I just needed the problem fixed quickly.

They were great. They were a little bit high but they are kind of the best. They responded and it was right before Christmas and nobody else would respond.

The work area was thoroughly checked for leaks. |No problem with the professionalism and quality of work, but the price was VERY high for this job even though it was Memorial Day.

Our hot water heater stopped working and someone from Michael and son came out to look at it. He was very nice and fixed the problem. He did day if it continues to happen you might need a new water heater. Long story short we need a new hot water heater. They came out again and quoted us more than double what other places did. I have no doubt that they would have done a great job but not worth paying 900 more than another licensed plumber. I did feel a little bit pressured to make a decision right away about doing the job, but I'm glad I called around.

Thorough, prompt, spent time communicating all the steps and options to me. I would give them high marks for professional knowledge. I would recommend them to anyone. The only drawback is that sometimes I felt they were trying to "up-sell" me. So you have to be strong about your requirements.
