The estimator was very nice, however he barely poked his head into the crawlspace in order to give an estimate. Other estimators crawled all around the crawlspace in order to give estimates, and included photographs in their reports. He was able to provide an estimate immediately using his tablet.

Half the power to our house went out on a Sunday, during a heat wave, and we called Michael and Sons because of their good reputation. Our call was answered by a polite woman who told us to expect a call back soon. About 15 minutes later we received a call from Abraham Boquin, who said he would be coming by in the next 30 minutes. Abraham, the head technician, arrived with his assistant Martine. Both were courteous and professional. After investigating the problem, they deduced that the primary problem was due to a main power line being damaged and they called Dominion power for us and requested a service call. Abraham also noted that parts of our electrical system were not up to code and showed us some areas that were unsafe. This was not a surprise because we had moved into our house a few months ago and it had been terribly neglected and we had already discovered other systems that were not up to code or outright dangerous. The Dominion guys came out and noted the same problems with our electrical system that Abraham showed us and suggested that we get an electrician out. We had already scheduled Abraham to do the work and he came as scheduled the next morning. Abraham and Martine worked all day and we now have a much safer system (no more exposed wires, too small circuit breaker or rods that aren't grounded). You could tell he knew his stuff and he was always willing to stop what he was doing and explain, in layman's terms, what he was doing. This company isn't cheap, but the work is done right and done well. It will save us money in the future and safety is not something I am willing to compromise on. I would strongly recommend Abraham to anyone wanting a skilled professional for electrical work. I will ask for him by name for any electrical needs I have in the future.

I first had them out to give me an estimate on a variety of smaller electrical needs for our house. The electrician that came out, Matt W. was super nice and very professional. He gave me estimates on everything and then proceeded with the work on the few projects I approved. He kept everything neat and tidy and was done working pretty quickly. He was even patient with my annoying kids ha! The second time we had them out to install a garbage disposal. The plumber was equally friendly and professional and completed the job quickly. At the end however, we found out that the existing wiring under the sink did not seem to be working so we would need to have someone out again to resolve. Since the previous electrician had worked on the outlet that goes to the disposal, we decided to call M&S back out for a third time. It turns out I totally misunderstood what Matt had tried to explain to me about the outlet last time and that it would now need to be totally rewired. Both the electrician as well as customer service and even the manager in charge were extremely helpful and patient and we were able to get our disposal working. Overall, fantastic customer service, extremely professional staff. You get what you pay for- they CAN be pricey on certain projects but we had such a great experience, it was worth it to us.

Stunned at cost to install parts we had on hand and clean drain. Nearly $700.00 for less than an hour on site. My only problem is the cost. Earlier in the day we had an electrician come to give an estimate on an attic fan ($1500) and to install a garage spot light ($300). Just know you will be charged for their endless commercials. Can not recommend as you will not know real cost until you pay a fee to get estimate.

In July 2014 Michael and Sons replaced an air conditioner compressor at our business location. Two Wednesdays ago, our Air Conditioner would not engage, so we called M&S first to see if they would come out to take a look at it. We thought it was a minor repair needed and didn't think anything of it at this point. M&S refused to come to our location saying that they were not accepting new commercial accounts. We explained that we weren't new and they still refused to come out to take a look at the unit. We are a retail store so could not go without A/C for long so we then called another local business who came right out to take a look at the unit. They had given us an estimate for the compressor repair last year as well and when they visited this time they troubleshooted the unit and said that they had recommended the compressor be replaced last year and that it looked like it had never been replaced. We stated that it had and they said it looked like it was not properly done/or never replaced last year. They told us to contact the company that installed it and did not do any work on the unit other than diagnose the problem as the compressor being bad. At this point, it was Thursday and we called M&S again and explained the issue. They passed us off and told us that someone would be by Friday or Saturday to take a look. We had no word from them Friday or Saturday. We called again on Monday and they finally send someone out on Tuesday. On Tuesday they looked at the unit and then proceeded to tell us that the warranty was voided because someone else "serviced" the unit. No one else has serviced the unit and we simply had someone come by the week before because we could not get a response from M&S and needed AC. We thought it was a simple problem and as soon as we found out it was a bad compressor, we contacted M&S. At this point, our hands are tied because we are now not getting any response from this company and have been without AC going on two weeks. Their service has been absolutely horrible and they proceed to pass us off from one person to another and find any excuse in the book not to honor their work. The other AC company that troubleshooted the unit has tried to contact them and cannot get a returned call. A new AC compressor should last ten years, not less than 1 year. Whether or not this is the case, it seems as though their work in the first place was not as described since they will not come out to honor the warranty, which should be covered by the manufacturer.

Everything went as scheduled. The technician was knowledgeable and was open to my input for the final solution(s). Recommendations were made by the technician for additional work in the future, but I was not pressured for another sale.

Great-easy to do and priced appropriately.

This is related to my experience with their hot water heater repair services only, as I've had other experiences (electrical) which have been much better received. After moving into my condo in March, my hot water heater stopped heating so I called Michael & Son. The dispatcher was pleasant and professional, and was able to assign someone to me within the same day, which was very much appreciated. The technician was nice enough, but his "assessment" of my issue was that I needed the entire hot water tank replaced, because it appeared to be "original to the property". Since I had just recently had a full home inspection done, I told him I would wait on getting the tank repaired and see if I could work through the home warranty for replacement. When I looked at the home inspection, I realized that the hot water heater was only 2 years old, and was still under warranty, so it is being repaired by the manufacturer at no cost. The issue ultimately was a the blower assembly, a part that certainly doesn't require an entire appliance replacement! I'm not sure why the technician thought I needed a new hot water heater, or even deemed it "original" without checking further but I'm glad I got a second opinion, and have opted to have the repair done by another company that was recommended by my hot water heater manufacturer.

It turned out beautiful. They found some leaks and fixed them at no charge. They had good manner and showed me a couple things

So far they have been really good. I have had problems in the beginning but they are doing fine. My product is under warranty. They think that it happened from a storm. He checked all the equipment. He is coming back in the future to change the breaker box. he was a very polite man. Very helpful, knowledgeable, organized and did everything professionally.

They are very professional, knowledgeable but they are not cheap. They did a good job.

Charged $500 to diagnose and another ridiculous amount to do unnecessary job.

UPDATE: Shortly after I posted my negative review expressing my frustration with Michael & Son, I received a telephone call from Mr. Vance Sheppard, one of their customer service managers. He sincerely apologized for the negative experiences that had occurred and told me that they did not want to lose me as a long time customer. We discussed the issues at length and he assured me that he would emphasize to the schedulers the value of customers' time and keeping the customers informed when there are delays. As a gesture of good will for my inconvenience, he offered me a Home Care Agreement for one year at no charge and gave me his direct number if I ever have a problem again. That is the kind of professionalism I expect from a company like Michael & Son, and frankly, what I have experienced with most of their previous service calls. Therefore, I intend to continue using them for future HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical service calls and have raised my rating to give them an "A".

Overall very disappointed with quality of service, professionalism, and price of well-established provider in the area. Technician replaced a blown capacitor on the air conditioning unit, advised on other issues with unit. ? Responsiveness and Punctuality - Took two days to get a technician to respond onsite. I was scheduled as the second customer of the day and told to be available in the morning. Technician arrived end of day. Additionally, I spent 30 minutes on the phone with customer service trying to schedule an appointment, was passed between five different customer service representatives. ? Professionalism - Technician lectured me on keeping up with maintenance of the unit after I just told him I just moved in and knew it was old. ? Price - Paid $370 for a service call that on average is half as much. A replacement capacitor is about $30 bucks. I was provided a quote for a replacement unit, but I don?t think I can work with this provider again.

We did not have a good incident with them. They said it wasn't them, and we said that we didn't have a gas leak until they came and started messing around with the gas line. We ended up getting the money refunded by Lowe's because they have a contract with Michael & Sons. We only paid for the stove. They weren't truthful to their supervisors, they kept changing their story, so it wasn't consistent. If they had owned up to the true story, we would have been more okay, and asked them to come and fix it. We ended up having another company to come and make the repairs instead of them, because they kept changing their story, and they were like refusing to come back and fix it without charging us $200, so I went and talked to Lowe's and they took care of it. They responded to us but it took more than 24 hours, and sometimes they wouldn't respond to us, and sometimes they were on top of it. They arrived on time. They showed up in the window that they were supposed to. We only spoke to one person in the company.

It wasn't a real typical problem. They have everything. They have many departments, I believe. Our experience with the garbage disposal with just the plumbing was very professional. I would definitely use them again. The primary problem was free. He was successful so it was pretty awesome.

It was great. They did a decent job. The staffs are great. They're very courteous and they're pretty professional; it wasn't sloppy.

I currently have a 24 year old 100,000 BTU Carrier Gas furnace and a 11 Seer rated 11 year old AC unit. I am in the market to purchase a complete HVAC system for my home and narrowed it down to two contractors. My home was built in the 1970's and is about 2000 square feet including the finished basement. But I appreciated them coming out and the professionalism that was provided by their comfort consultant. The consultant was very detailed and did a great job explaining everything.

The technician, Abraham Boquin, did a great job.He was prompt, professional and courteous. He took the time to answer any questions I had, provided me with estimates on other possible work, and took pictures of the fan for me since I was not about to try to climb up into the attic. I would have no reservations about hiring Abraham, no matter who he worked for. However, I do have some issues with M&S as a company overall. I have a HCA with M&S and appreciate the regular routine check ups and maintenance on my mechanical systems, plumbing, electrical, etc. This service helps me to stay on top of any potential problems that might com up but what really bugs me is: 1. They always seem to "find some other thing" that needs to be fixed and always with an extremely expensive price tag. 2. While they advertise a 10% senior discount, I'm told that I can't use the discount because of my HCA which would basically give me a double discount. Really; with prices they charge, this should not be as much as a hardship for them as the prices they charge folks on a limited income. I would probably use them more often but I find that, for certain things, I can save by using other providers on Angie's List who offer the same service at lower costs. We had to have our attic fan inspected and have minor repairs by a licensed electrician prior to selling the home. We had a deadline we needed met and Michael and Sons was able to come out on Saturday to finish the job. From the time they answered the phone, I was treated with respect. Dustin, the technician came out and spent extra time to explain what he was doing and what we need to do in the future. He was very neat, even wearing shoe covers! It was a great experience from start to finish.

I wasn't very happy with the amount of money it cost me. But they did good work for me when I had an emergency.

They are very professional and their pricing is reasonable compared to other competitors.
